Ordered from Hatteras in 1971 by an international shipping company owner and the vessel was used as his personal family yacht to travel between his summer home on Nantucket, MA to his winter home in Nassau, the Bahamas every year from 1972 until 2003.

The vessel was purchased by the second owner in 2005 and has been continually updated and extremely well cared for. She is well maintained. Her Detroit Diesel engines are in strong condition and the vessel was completely painted in 2007. $145,000 spent in 2007 alone.

They know how to paint a boat but don't let them work on your engine. They start installing parts until they find the problem, or think they found it. I loss a lot of money and didn't fix the problem. Nice person at the desk said I should go someplace else to get it fixed.

Mark M; We are grieved that you were unsatisfied with our repairs. I am concerned that you did not reach out to us with regards your dissatisfaction, but instead posted online here. Per our contract you have 90 days to bring any issues you have to the owner of the company so that we can address and fix any issues for free.

I used Yachtfish for the haul out of my 45' DeFever and had a very good experience. Not a complicated job but when I showed up at the appointed time they where ready for me. The boat had not been hauled in 3 years and had lots of barnacles, muscles and other things along for the ride. On my way home that afternoon I stopped by and the bottom was all cleaned up and ready to be worked on. The job was completed when promised even with some bad weather to contend with. They did not try to sell me on all sort of things they just did a fine job of what I wanted done. Will use them next year.

I had Yachtfish do extensive work on my boat. I thought they were terrible to work with. They'll give you a quote and clearly have no intent of honoring it. When I ask the guys in the yard, they'll tell you a certain project took 3 hours, but then you get the bill, it's double that. I had the owner tell me something took 5 hours, and then the bill showed 10. I'm pretty sure they have a standard practice to double all actual time performed to calculate the bill. Worse yet, they don't stand behind their work. After they did work on a certain system, there were problems with it immediately following pickup and they continually tried to blame the problem on anything and everything to get out of fixing the work they didn't do right in the first place. I would recommend steering clear of entrusting your boat to Yachtfish.

Well, I hate to beat up on these guys, because the industry is really in tough shape right now. Long story short, I believe the key to making customers happy is to manage expectations. When you tell someone your going to paint the boat on Wednesday, so you can have your detail guy wax the boat on Thursday, then dog gone it, do what you said you would do. In a nut shell, a number of things they said would get done didn't get done. They did have a great price on bottom painting, but they tented the boat in such a way that a lot of paint dust landed on the port side of the deck and stained it badly. I spent my entire vacation day cleaning up after them. Had the tenting been done correctly there shouldn't have been any dust on the decks. Would I use them again? Maybe, but I'll do a much better job of watching over the work (not something I enjoy having to do).

We want our customers to be satisfied with the work that we perform. In regards to subcontractors, I am sorry about the confusion on this aspect of the contract. Due to insurance issues we cannot have unapproved subcontractors working on boats in our yard. The contract stipulates that you have 90 days to bring up any issues you have with our work so that we can fix them for you for free, but we did not hear from you instead we found this note here on yelp. We wish you had contacted us as soon as you found an issue.
