The ELASTEC Inlander (aluminum work boat) is a hybrid of hull styles (Skiff, John, Sled) to give you a multi-purpose boat with unique capabilities. The modified V hull with a blunt bow, high sides, and a wide stance increase the payload to double that of similar boats, an impressive, 4,000 lbs./1,800 kg – added to which they can be lashed together for even more versatility. The Inlander is perfect for oil spill response, emergency response, rescue, cargo hauling, and commercial fishing applications.

LANDING CRAFT

ELASTEC aluminum landing craft are designed to operate in shallow or open water conditions. Recognizing that response and waterway maintenance may require beaching, they are fitted with a bow ramp. These impressive aluminum work boats can typically achieve 30 to 40 knots depending on choice of propulsion options.

OMNI CATAMARAN

The ELASTEC Omni Catamaran is a versatile aluminum work boat that offers a variety of waterway maintenance and marina services applications. Its interchangeable “pods” are easily exchanged to facilitate various marine tasks such as: collecting floating debris, transporting cargo, pumping out boat sewage, cutting invasive aquatic weeds, supporting diving operations, lifting buoys and responding to oil spills.

PLATFORM WORKBOAT

The ELASTEC Platform Workboat is manufactured at our Carmi, Illinois USA facility. Its rugged design allows for this versatile utility service barge to perform a variety of waterway maintenance and marina tasks. This vessel requires minimal upkeep as it has few moving parts and its propulsion is provided by a single outboard. Custom deck arrangements are available per your design or project specifications.

The Omni Catamaran’s unique drop-in pod system allows for a range of duties to be performed efficiently while offering a large, flat working platform and excellent stability.

Loading and unloading of cargo is easy using the unique lift-in pod arrangement. The handrails are removable to allow easy deck access. A range of loading ramps and ladder designs are available.

VESSEL REVIEW | Grønarók – Electric catamaran workboat for Faroese fish farming company

Faroe Islands-based salmon farming company Bakkafrost has taken delivery of an electric catamaran workboat that will support offshore aquaculture activities near the capital city of Torshavn.

Gronarok was built by local shipyard MEST as part of a pilot project to assess the viability of providing green electricity as power for marine transport. The workboat is therefore designed to be capable of continuous operations during daylight hours whereas nighttime will be allotted for quayside charging of its onboard batteries.

The design chosen for the new vessel is an existing MEST catamaran workboat with an LOA of 15.34 metres, a moulded beam of eight metres, a depth of 2.5 metres, and a deadweight of approximately 40 tonnes. The use of the catamaran arrangement allows for a wider beam relative to the LOA, thus providing up to two times available deck space compared to workboats of similar length that are currently operating in Faroese waters.

The hull is made from steel whereas the pilothouse is made from alumininum. MEST said the combination of the two materials ensures that the vessel is durable enough yet still boast lower maintenance requirements compared to contemporary workboats. The vessel is therefore able to withstand harsh weather conditions.

The electric propulsion allows the vessel to reach speeds of up to 12 knots even while carrying a payload totalling 33.5 tonnes. A 37kW bow thruster meanwhile provides added lateral manoeuvrability.

Installed on the aft deck is a Melcal knuckle boom crane. The other deck equipment includes three capstans and a 15-tonne winch.

The electronics suite includes a radar and GPS from Garmin, a Furuno compass and displays, an ICOM VHF radio, McMurdo EPIRB and SART, and a Simrad autopilot.

Work 1300 Cat

Work 1300 Cat is a catamaran workboat designed for heavy-duty use.

Both hulls have a marine diesel engine. The engine power is transmitted through a fixed shaft to the propeller. Propellers are protected from grounding with a propeller guard. Longitudinal bars have been installed to protect the propellers from pieces of ice and lose ropes.

The engine power of Work 1300 Cat is 2 x 260 hp, and it is more than enough to carry the boat without cargo at the speed of 17 knots. Handling of the boat in port and other cramped spaces is smooth with hydraulic bow thrusters in both hulls.

The operating range is enough as the combined fuel tank volume is 2000 liters. The boat can carry cargo up to 25 tons. The deck can be equipped with a heavy crane, sturdy capstan, and combined fire- / deck washing pump.

All of this makes the Work 1300 Cat a suitable boat for example for maintenance tasks fish farming facility near the coast, but outside island protection.

The same thing can be said about the spaces for the crew. Work 1300 Cat's wide cabin is in the bow. The cabin offers comfortable and well-ventilated space for up to 6 crew members, two of them with a suspension seat. The toilet is designed for the cabin and you can walk in it from the deck. The back wall of the cabin is integrated with a closed locker.
