“In recent years, we’ve been getting quite a few inquiries about building tri-deck superyachts,”  said Andy Huang, president of Johnson Yachts . “It’s time for us to come up with a stunning new breed of yacht that will fascinate the world.” The Johnson 115 is just such a yacht, and will make an unforgettable first impression with her noteworthy exterior lines. With an interior design created by Design Unlimited, the  Johnson 115  has social areas that centre on a comfortable, welcoming saloon where guests and family can intermingle and enjoy the fresh air of the after deck through wide-opening aft bulkhead doors on pleasant days, then come together in the formal dining area forward. As with all Johnson Yachts , the finishes and furnishings are up to the owner’s discretion and specification, and the builder pays close attention to material choices and furnishings that offer a level of sophistication worthy of a superyacht.

The Johnson 115 has no shortage of gathering places, including an urbane skylounge, a versatile foredeck area, and an inviting beach club aft. The skylounge will have unparalleled views thanks  to its elevated position and large windows. This upper level also will offer a similar seamless indoor-outdoor feel, opening wide to an open-air aft deck that also shelters the main deck aft.

The foredeck area is designed for anything from secluded sunning to gathering friends and family together with a seating area that rivals those of much larger yachts. Aft is a large hydraulic swim platform to bring owner and guests closer to the sea. A transom garage opens to reveal a beach club for superyacht-style entertainment. The swim platform will accomodate a 16-foot (5-meter) tender athwartships, while a garage behind the beach club can ship an18-foot (5.5- meter) tender.

A layout encompassing five or six staterooms will welcome a full complement of guests aboard, with the privacy of separate heads and berth arrangements at the discretion of the owner. Construction begins on first Johnson 115

Taiwanese yard Johnson Yachts  has announced that it has begun on-spec construction on the first hull of its 35 metre flagship superyacht, the  Johnson 115 .

First revealed at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the yacht will be the yard's first tri-deck superyacht.

Exterior design comes from boards of Bill Dixon of Dixon Yacht Design  while interior design has been handled by Design Unlimited .

The design firm previously revealed that the yacht is available in two cabin layout options accommodating either 10 or 12 guests in five or six staterooms.

Interior living spaces have been designed to be social and comfortable as well as easily accessible from the deck. The main saloon area will include a formal dining set up juxtaposing with a relaxed lounging area.

High quality materials will be present throughout in finishes and furnishings customised to the owners' tastes.

Design Unlimited founder Mark Tucker said: “The Johnson 115 benefits from our extensive experience in the design of custom superyachts, as well as our production build knowledge."

Exterior details include a plumb bow and tri-deck profile featuring large windows, all protected by bulwarks inlaid with glazing.

Meanwhile al fresco entertaining spaces will be plentiful, including a skylounge, foredeck area and wide open-air aft deck on the upper level.

A large hydraulic swim platform will sit on the aft foredeck, while a transom garage will open to reveal a beach club. The swim platform will accommodate a five metre tender. A garage located behind the beach club will also fit a 5.5 metre tender.

Bill Dixon said: "There are many design features on this yacht to make owning and living aboard very special. Externally, there are multiple deck spaces, from the beach club at the transom to the flybridge."

Johnson Yachts introduces new flagship 115 project

Upon delivery, the johnson 115 will be the the eight vessel in the johnson yachts fleet….

Johnson Yachts, the Taiwanese superyacht builder, has announced that it is soon to begin to construction of its 32.5m flagship vessel, the Johnson 115. Upon completion, the flagship 115, which will be the yard’s largest vessel to date, will be the eighth 30m-plus Johnson Yachts vessel since its first project in 2007.

“We’re very excited to build our new flagship in this 115-footer,” comments Andy Huang, president of Johnson Yachts. “We’d like to create a yacht with the flexibility to accommodate owners’ needs, and help their dream become reality”.

The Johnson 115’s exterior profile was designed by Bill Dixon of Dixon Yacht Design and features a plumb bow that carries the vessels volume forward in order to maximise her space relative to the LOA. The tri-deck profile has large windows that are protected by bulwarks with inlaid glazing to allow improved lines of sight from the main deck. The sky lounge has been designed to create an ‘indoor-outdoor’ feel, opening wide to an open-air aft deck that will also serve as a shade for the main deck aft.  

“There are many design features on this yacht to make owning and living aboard very special,” says Dixon. “Externally, there are multiple deck spaces, from the ‘Beach Club’ at the transom to the flybridge. With the walk-around upper deck, being a go-to area for owners and guests, with large leisure space forward and aft of the sky lounge.”

The interior design of the 115 was penned by Design Unlimited and may feature five or six stateroom arrangement depending on client preference.

“We set out to define a new ‘House Style’ that Johnson Yachts could present to future customers, which would be timeless and adaptable for the future,” says Mark Tucker of Design Unlimited. “Timbers can be adjusted to suit the taste of each individual client and then harmonised with a selection of fine finishes and materials sourced from around the world. All this can now be done with us working with the individual client and doing designs to suit their needs and visualising their developed designs for them. Design Unlimited have taken great care in selecting only the highest quality materials and ensuring every last detail has been carefully considered.”

“With the design and engineering of the Johnson 115, we offer several different design choices for the client,” adds Peter Chang, general manager of Johnson Yachts. “Whether they wish to have a flybridge, a sky lounge or a beach club, we can build the yacht they want.”

According to The Superyacht Agency, Johnson Yachts delivered its first superyacht, 31.4m Diamond Girl, in 2007. Since 2007 the yard has delivered a further six vessels, only three of which have been within the last 10 years. Indeed, the period from 2007-2009, which saw the yard deliver four superyachts is the only period in the yard’s history that is has delivered at least one project in three consecutive years, including two (a company record) in 2008. Having delivered 34.1m Mitan in 2018 and with the 115 scheduled for delivery in 2019, this would be only the second time there have been deliveries in consecutive years. Built by Johnson Yachts, the 35m/115ft luxury yacht JOHNSON 115 is the flagship vessel for the shipyard and features the naval architecture of Dixon Yacht Design and interior styling from Design Unlimited. The guest accommodation sleeps 10-12 guests across a five-or-six cabin layout depending on the Owner's choice of layout, and cabins for a crew of five to ensure impeccable service throughout the cruise.

The large hydraulic swim platform connects to the tender garage/beach club, and two staircases lead up to the main deck aft with a C-shaped sofa and two drinks tables as well as a bar.

A port staircase connects to the upper deck, where there is a grand alfresco dining table close to the doors into the sky lounge and a more casual setting for family meals at a circular dining table under the stars. Walkways lead around to the foredeck, where there is a C-shaped sofa and two drinks tables on the Portuguese deck, two generous sun pads in front and a final padded seat along the bow.

The flybridge offers excellent views from its elevated position and has sun loungers along the stern, a central circular dining table to sea 10 beneath the shade of the hardtop, and a forward C-shaped seating area with a drinks table.

The lower deck contains the crew accommodation forward with a mess consisting of a C-shaped sofa and table.

The guest accommodation is placed forward of amidships, with the engine room behind and the tender garage in the stern.

The main deck has the Master suite forward with an office pleading through to the main foyer to starboard. The galley is placed to port and leads through to the formal dining area, which seats up to 10 guests and is part of the open-plan main salon. The lounge to the aft has a pair of sofas and armchairs around a coffee table, and large glass sliding doors lead out to the main deck aft.

JOHNSON 115 Specifications

The upper deck has a spacious sky lounge behind the helm station that treats guests to a cosy port-side lounge, a wet bar to starboard and a games table behind.

Power comes from a pair of CAT C32 1,925 HP engines.

Yacht Accommodation

The accommodation sleeps a maximum of 10-12 guests across 5-6 en-suite cabins, depending on which layout is chosen by the Owner. The five cabin layout consists of 1 Master suite, 3 double cabins and 1 twin cabin convertible to a double. ~ The Master suite has a desk/vanity to port and a seating area to starboard consisting of two armchairs and a drinks table. Opposite the king-sized bed, there is a widescreen TV, and two entries into the bathroom with his-and-hers sinks, an enclosed toilet with its own sink, plus a shower. ~ The double cabins are located amidships on the lower deck with two behind and one forward to port. Each cabin has a desk, widescreen TV opposite the bed, a wardrobe and an en-suite bathroom furnished with a toilet, sink and shower. ~ The twin cabin is also located on the lower deck and is placed forward to starboard and has the same amenities as the double cabins. ~ The crew accommodation is located in the bow of the lower deck and sleeps 5.

I have been looking for a small 9.9 and 115 above HP O/B. My questions is this. I have never owned a 4 cylinder two stroke Johnson. Now my dad has a 2001 115 Johnson 60 degree motor. It is a very strong 115HP. But the one i am looking at is much wider not sure of the degree or if it is Cross flow, Loop charged etc. Were these strong reliable motors? John

Yes...one of the best, most reliable "bang for the buck" outboards ever produced. Very reliable, parts very available, run forever on the right fuel/oil and care. These are 90-degree, cross-charged engines. Not the most efficient fuel-wise, but you can but a lot of gas with the $$ you save on the purchase vs. a newer engine. John

I purchased one of these brand new in 1981 and put it on a new 16ft Baja. It was a great motor no issues at all.

Could not have said it better..................these are great engines and the 90 degree will last a long time when taken care of. I have had a few which were thrashed every time I used it and never a problem. They made them from 85hp-115hp the slightly bigger 2.0 litres were 120hp- 140hp and were also monsters. Yes they are very strong reliable motors........make sure you pre-mix.

I finally finished my first OMC rebuild. 1977 OMC, Honed cylinders, new standard bore pistons, high grade rod bolts, everything new except for block, crank, front and intake. It is a torque monster!! It also loves some fuel!!!. Picked up over 5 mph with the same boat and setup.. They are great motors!! I did clean up the exhaust chest a little, and half moon cut the piston skirts and cylinders and put 140 carbs on it along with the bubble back exhaust.. Runs great but i know it has a lot more as a race setup!!

Excellent motor and pretty much bulletproof. I've run 3 of these- affectionately known by the antique and classic outboard set as the "Fat Four" over the years- a 1958 50 hp., a 1984 140 hp, and one later model loop charged 120. No problems on any of them- except for trying to start the 50 hp once with a rope when the battery died....needed 2 hands on the rope, feet braced on transom, and use your body weight falling back into the boat to pull the rope....and it did start right up. 18 Talon/2.4 carb SOLD 26 Deck Boat/250 Merc

Talk to LakerV4 on here, he knows 1 or 2 things about LoopCharged V4s, I think the Loopers came out in the 2liter around 1985, before that all Xflows, I had a 1982 140, it was about 118hp at the prop, because they were Crank Shaft HP rated motors, today they are Prop Shaft HP motors.....Ask Laker he will help ya...

I had an 86 and I loved it up until the VRO pump went and I trashed the powerhead. I think if I ever had another I would disable the pump and premix. I got so mad after that I decided to only run Mercurys which as I found out aren't without their own issues.

The new johnson 115 features an exterior design by dixon and an interior styling by design unlimited.

The Johnson 115 is the flagship of the Taiwanese yacht builder Johnson Yachts and features an exterior design with clean lines with a plumb bow. This kind of bow maximizes space in the overall length of yachts. The model line is developed with a five and a six cabin layout. Furthermore, the interior can be customized.

Johnson Yachts started the building process as an on-speculation project.

The master suite is on the main deck forward, equipped with a desk, two armchairs with coffee table and big windows on port and starboard side. The guest cabins are on the lower deck aft and amidships. Crew accommodation forward includes also a crew mess.

Alongside the master suite, the main deck contains the main salon aft, the dining area which is also next to the closed galley for small ways for the crew.

The sky lounge contains another salon with a coffee table, a day head and a bar behind the bridge. Outside is al-fresco dining. The ladderway leads to the sun deck with jacuzzi and sunbathing area.

New Flagship Announced: Johnson 115

Johnson Yachts plans to unveil the design of its new flagship, the Johnson 115, at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show this fall.

The 115 is one of two new models that Johnson plans to discuss at the show. The other is the Johnson 70, which will be the new entry-level size in the builder’s fleet.

With five- or six-stateroom layouts available inside a completely new hull, the Johnson 115 will offer “high levels of customization,” according to the builder. Dixon Yacht Design penned the yacht’s lines, with a plumb bow, a trideck profile and glazing that allows outdoor views from everywhere on board.

Design Unlimited handled interior design, including an indoor-outdoor main deck gathering space that connects the salon and aft deck through wide-opening bulkhead doors. Other guest areas will include a beach club aft, and a foredeck that can be used for private tanning or family gatherings.

The swim platform will accommodate a 16-foot tender, while a garage abaft the beach club can hold an 18-foot tender.

At the other end of Johnson’s model range will be the Johnson 70, also a Dixon design. It’s available with a sky lounge or an open flybridge, and is also customizable to an owner’s tastes. Three- and four-stateroom layouts are available, and a fishing cockpit can increase the yacht’s flexibility for various activities.

“We want to create a new line of yacht that sets the trend rather than follows it,” Peter Chang, general manager of Johnson Yachts, stated in a press release. “With the design and engineering of the Johnson 70, we have a yacht designed to be versatile, and yet will still fit the description of an entry-level superyacht.”

The shipyard is in Taiwan but when it comes to designers, the new Johnson 115 superyacht is an all British affair.

The family owned Johnson Yachts builds luxury superyachts. Established in 1987, they have built more than 350 yachts for discerning owners who understand the importance of quality workmanship, attention to engineering detail, and performance and handling.

What sets them apart from other shipyards, is a good-looking profile, smart engineering, and a large internal volume that allows owners the flexibility to customise the interior layout.

That’s where the British design element comes into play.

Johnson Yachts always works with Dixon Yacht Design in Hamble on the Solent. It is Bill Dixon who imbues the designs with innovative features and striking exterior lines.

At their 12,600 m² facility in Kaohsiung they can simultaneously accommodate up to six vessels measuring up to 40 metres each of the design by Bill Dixon. The British design office has created a full range of yachts from 21 to 40 metres.

When it comes to the interiors. Andy Huang, President of Johnson Yachts has chosen the Fareham based Design Unlimited to design the latest in their range the all new Johnson 115 a 35-metre superyacht being built by the shipyard on speculation.

The new yacht will be a world-class superyacht, with a refined aesthetic in a completely new hull design. Available with layouts of either five or six staterooms and offering high levels of customisation. the new yacht will almost certainly catch the attention of superyacht connoisseurs in harbours around the world.

“We ‘re very excited to build our new flagship,” said Andy Huang, President of Johnson Yachts. “We’d like to create a yacht with the flexibility to accommodate owners’ needs and help their dream become reality.”

Bill Dixon has drawn a striking plumb bow that carries her volume far forward, maximising her space for her length overall. She has a tri-deck profile that has large windows, protected by bulwarks with inlaid glazing to allow improved lines of sight from the main deck. The sky lounge utilises the wraparound vertical window design that has almost become the hallmark of a Johnson Yacht.

“There are many design features on this yacht to make owning and living aboard very special,” says Bill Dixon. “Externally, there are multiple deck spaces, from the ‘Beach Club’ at the transom to the flybridge. With the walk-around upper deck, being a go-to area for owner and guests, with large leisure space forward and aft of the ‘Sky lounge.”

The sky lounge will offer the indoor-outdoor feel, opening wide to an open-air aft deck that will also shade the main deck aft. The foredeck will be a gathering area for friends and family, with a seating area that rivals those of much larger yachts.

The yacht’s interior will feature a social and comfortable saloon to welcome guests and family. There they can gather to enjoy the fresh air of the aft deck through wide-opening aft bulkhead doors, then dine together in the formal dining area forward.

As with all yachts the company builds, the finishes and furnishings are up to the owners’ discretion and specification, and the builder pays close attention to material choices and furnishings that offer a level of sophistication worthy of a superyacht.

“We set about to define a new ‘House Style’ that Johnson Yachts could present to future customers, which would be timeless and adaptable for the future,” says Mark Tucker of Design Unlimited. “Timbers can be adjusted to suit the taste of each individual clients and then harmonised with a selection of fine finishes and materials sourced from around the world. All this can now be done with us working with the individual client and doing designs to suit their needs and visualising their developed designs for them. My design team have taken great care in selecting only the highest quality materials and ensuring every last detail has been carefully considered.”

Here ladies and gents I have for sale my blood sweat and tears from the past 3 years. I've gone ahead and resurrected this boat from the grave and as with all boats put way more money into her than she's probably worth. Selling boat as is. I had her running in the driveway last week and sounded ok. She just needs a good run on the water to work the kinks out. She has a 1990 Johnson 115 on her. Replaced a ton of parts on her including many motor parts water pump, starter solonoid, got rid of the VRO and mix my own fuel now. Replaced horn, brand new $400 throttle and brand new throttle cables. Comes with 2 bumpers, anchor, 4 lines, new carpet, solid floor, solid transom, and lil rider trailer that is in great shape. Trailer alone is worth at least $1200. I stained all the teak on the boat earlier this season. Bilge and lights all work perfect. CLEAN TITLE FOR BOTH BOAT AND TRAILER.
