Yacht Club Beach - Cape Coral Yacht Club Community Park
Yacht Club Beach , also known as Yacht Club Community Park , is a pristine public beach nestled in the coastal city of Cape Coral, Florida. Discover one of the best beaches, with its stunning white sand and crystal-clear waters, it offers visitors a serene and relaxing environment to soak up the sun and enjoy the beauty of nature. The beach is open to the public and provides free access year-round, making it an ideal spot for locals and tourists alike.
UPDATE October 2023: Yacht Club Beach - The public beach is expected to reopen sometime around November 10, 2023.
Cape Coral is a vibrant, sun-soaked haven of natural beauty, and Yacht Club Public Beach is its crown jewel. Found on the southern outskirts of the city limits, visitors are greeted with powdery white sand and a blissful wave-lapped shoreline that stretches for miles.
Yacht Club Beach, located on the Caloosahatchee River offers more than just breathtaking views – it’s also home to an array of activities and amenities that will make your visit even more enjoyable. From lounging in the sun on a beach chair or swing, to trying out some water sports such as jet skiing or paddle boarding, there’s something for everyone here! The beach also has facilities like changing rooms and restrooms, plus a restaurant called The Boathouse that makes for a great lunch spot if you don't want to bring a picnic lunch after a long morning on the sand. The Boathouse serves breakfast, lunch and dinner right at the beach. It's so nice to sit outside in the sun and see the views of Yacht Club Public Beach and the river. Live music is played on weekends.
Even though our beach is small, it's perfect for families, and we don't have problems with partying spring-breakers, which is nice during March and April.
There's plenty of soft white sand and sunshine to please everyone. The beach is only a 15-minute drive from most of the Cape and parking is free. Walk on the fishing pier, pack the beach toys, and bring a picnic to enjoy on the shoreline or a complete the day with a beautiful sunset and an evening of star-gazing.
When I homeschooled, we would whoop it up a bit ... we'd grab our books, bikinis, beach gear, and hit the sand!
Kids will love the shaded playground when taking a break from sand and swimming.
Yacht Club Public Beach Recreation
At Yacht Club Beach , the fun never ends. Apart from swimming and sunbathing, visitors can engage in various water sports, including kayaking, paddle boarding, and jet skiing. The beach also features volleyball courts, perfect for friendly matches under the sun. If you prefer a more laid-back experience, grab a book and relax under the shade of a palm tree, enjoying the gentle gulf breeze. The beach's amenities include restrooms, picnic areas, public boat ramp and convenient parking lot, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable visit for all.
It's fun to go to the Sunset Celebration, which happens the first Wednesday of the month from 4-7PM or 5-8PM, depending on Daylight Savings, October - June.
You may be able to see hula dancers, fire eaters, and all kinds of musicians perform.
The video below will give you an idea of the fun going on:
During the celebration, there's a nice craft show at the ballroom pavilion.
You'll find jewelry, clothing, food, herbs, plants, art, crafts, and gift items, or even tables set up by local businesses.
Sometimes there are special events, such as a car show ... and I have to say, my favorites from this show are the red cars and the snazzy orange one!
Make sure you stay late enough to watch the sunset ....... which can be spectacular!
In this video you can see the sun dropping below the horizon:
Even though the light is fading, Yacht Club Beach is still nice for a last little swim or a walk .
As you can see, our Cape Coral Beach is lots of fun all day long ...
*The beach pavilion has been torn down and there is now more room on the beach!

Cape Coral backs off idea of ripping up Yacht Club tennis courts
The tennis courts at Cape Coral's Yacht Club could be staying.
Tennis enthusiasts are upset about a preliminary recreation department plan that could have removed all but one of the Yacht Club courts to make room for more parking.
At a city council meeting Monday, officials promised supporters of keeping the courts in place that their voices will be heard. The tennis courts have been a fixture for nearly 60 years.
Fears that the courts would be wiped out as part of a plan to build a parking deck and new restaurant on the site shook a group of avid tennis players after the plan was touted during a political campaign to get voters to approve a $60 million, 15-year bond to fund recreation programs.
The Yacht Club property is home to a restaurant whose patrons sometimes have difficulty finding a place to park, which some say has driven the push for fewer tennis courts and more parking spaces.
Council member Rick Williams said finding a spot for diners to park is the restaurant owner's problem, and has been since a restaurant was sited on the property several years ago.
More: Cape Coral residents pass $60 million bond referendum for parks
More: Cape Coral tennis buffs fear losing out as city plans park changes
"A few years ago we were debating bringing in the restaurant and part of that debate had to do with parking," Williams said. "We were bringing in a restaurant that already knew there was a parking issue. We knew that there was a parking issue."
Williams argued against removing tennis courts so that a private restaurant could have a bigger parking lot.
"We’ve got a situation where we still have the parking (issue). We have a commercial establishment begging for parking," Williams said. "We’re in a position to take something away to satisfy a business so that they can do better."
In the run-up to a vote on the park bonds last year, sketches were made of possible scenarios — including some drawings showing the courts replaced with a restroom and boating relating building.
City Manager John Szerlag told the council those preliminary sketches were intended to show residents what they might get with the money if they backed the bond. They were not a definitive plan, he said.
The idea was to give shape to plans to borrow and spend millions on parks and recreation in a fast-growing community. That rapid growth puts demands on the city tax levy for basic services.
"We went out for a vote for the residents to decide. We didn't want to say 'give up $60 million and trust us – it will be a nice park,'" Szerlag said. "We did say that we had initial concept plans to give an idea so that once we hired the design consultants, one of the salient parts of their scope of work is to get with the neighborhood residents to show them what we had on the books and to take their input on possible changes."
Tennis players who want the courts to remain were at the meeting because that design consulting firm was to be hired at the meeting. Council members voted unanimously to award the $3.2 million contract to Kimley Horn and associates of Fort Myers.
A timelime for Kimley-Horn's work will include meetings with community groups to gauge the public's interest in parks. The sessions in the Yacht Club neighborhood will be in late fall, when more seasonal residents are in town.
The presence of the Kimley-Horn contract on the city council agenda brought out tennis players who have been fighting for their sport.
Rose Averbach, who said she lives less than a 10-minute drive from the Yacht Club, asked the council to consider residents ahead of a business.
"We’re there on a daily basis; we walk, we ride our bikes," she said. "When we think of taking down this beautiful Yacht Club area and make it into something more commercial, it is extremely upsetting to us as a community."
Mayor Joe Coviello promised the tennis players he would look for a broader solution.
"We don't want to limit recreation in our city. As the city grows we want to have more places for recreation," Coviello said. "Whether it's tennis courts coupled with some pickleball courts down at the Yacht Club, along with maybe a one-level parking structure, we’ll come up with the best solution and we’ll get input from the people who live in the area."

Resolving parking issues could be a difficult task since parking for people heading to the beach during the winter season is as much of an issue as the desire of diners to be able to pull up to a spot near the Boathouse Tiki Bar restaurant.
After meetings with neighbors and others in a stake in the future of the city park system, a master plan for re-development of the city park system will be brought to the city council for a decision in December.

The cost of private tennis lessons can vary depending on factors such as location, level of instruction, and the coach's experience. On average, private tennis lessons are between $45-$65/hr but again, there are many factors when it comes to prices in your area. Package deals and discount codes will also help in reducing the hourly cost of private lessons. It's a good idea to research and compare prices of coaches in your area before committing to lessons.
Depending on what you want to get out of your tennis lessons, should inform your decision on how often to get out on the court. Whether you are a beginner who wants to learn tennis quickly or you are a more advanced player getting ready for a tournament, buying more lessons up front for less per hour might be best. If you just want to try out tennis lessons a smaller lesson package will allow you to try out lessons once or twice a week before committing to more.
Private tennis lessons are the best way to up your game as a tennis player because you have the chance to get 1-on-1 instruction from a qualified tennis coach. A private tennis lesson is a chance to soak up valuable information, get as many reps as possible, and form a relationship with a coach fully invested in your improvement. A group lesson can help you to learn some basics, spend time with friends, and allow you to get a feel for the game of tennis but often does not replicate private lessons from a development standpoint.
It is never too late to start tennis lessons! No matter what age you are, tennis is accessible for anyone. Tennis can be great for kids, former athletes looking to get into something new, someone who is trying to get more active, or anyone in between. Tennis lessons allow you to make mistakes and feel comfortable as a first time tennis player, no matter your age.
You can start tennis lessons at any age or skill level. If you are looking to get your child into tennis most coaches will say if they are able to hold a racquet it is early enough for tennis lessons. Like with most activities, the earlier a child starts playing tennis, the better they will become if they choose to play competitively. But players start playing tennis at various ages and age is no barrier to entry to becoming a solid, or even great, tennis player.
Beginner tennis players will be set up for success as long as they have tennis shoes, athletic wear, and a water bottle. If you do not have a tennis racquet you can discuss your options of borrowing one with your coach but eventually it is best that you purchase a beginner tennis racquet right for you. You will want one not only at lessons but so you can play tennis outside of your lessons. Eventually, once you know you will be playing a lot of tennis you will want a tennis bag with various gear but it is not necessary as a beginner tennis player.
- Athletic shoes you know are comfortable for running around in
- Athletic clothing you are comfortable running around and sweating in
- Your tennis racquet
- A filled water bottle
- A hat depending on how sunny it is and any other weather specific clothes, ie a sweatshirt or leggings for chillier weather
- Not required, but many players will bring a towel or sweatbands to wipe sweat
Customer Reviews
I think Enes is a very good teacher, especially in tennis. He is also a very good biophysicist. Thanks to Enes, you will have a good start in tennis.
Enes significantly increased my tennis skills and confidence. He was good at observing my technique and explaining how I could improve. What I appreciated most about working with Enes was his encouragement and the positive atmosphere he created on the court. Would highly recommend.
I always wanted to play tennis but never got opportunity until I met Enes. I knew he plays tennis and when he offered to teach me, I did not lose the opportunity. Knowing my level, he started with most basic like how to hold racket and what NOT to do that can harm/ hurt you in future. He gives advice for every approach of your and makes you a better player. He is motivated and wants every student of his to do good in tennis.

IT'S GOING DOWN: Cape Coral creeps closer to Yacht Club demo day
CAPE CORAL, Fla. — On Monday, people walking around the Cape Coral Yacht Club spoke with Fox 4's Colton Chavez about the city demolishing the property.. where damage still lingers more than a year and a half after Hurricane Ian.
“It's way overdue it's been 16-17-18 months?” said one person.
During a recent Cape Coral city workshop, David Hyyti, the Director of City Capital Improvements said the $987,716 demolition project had been awarded to a contractor who is expected to start work within the next 30 days.
On Monday, Fox 4's Colton Chavez asked city leaders if they could narrow that down any — a city spokesperson said there was no official date, but they hoped to start during the month of April.
City leaders said the demolition will take about two months.
The final design for the yacht club includes an expanded beach, a new restaurant, a resort-style pool, and a four-story parking garage.
Of course, where there's a beach, there's always this question: will any of the parking be free?
City leaders said it was to early to say whether free parking was part of the Cape Coral Yacht Club's new design.

Cape Coral city leaders revealed what they are calling "the final master plan for the Cape Coral Yacht Club" at Wednesday's Committee of the Whole meeting.
The Yacht Club has sat fenced up ever since Hurricane Ian destroyed the ballroom and pier.
According to the plan, the new Yacht club will have an expanded beach, new restaurant, a resort-style pool with lanes and more. For the link to the whole plan, click here .
To keep up with our ever-growing city, there will also be nearly 900 parking spaces. That includes 158 for boats and 596 for cars. To fit that much parking, they need to build a 4-story parking garage in place of the pickleball and tennis courts.
Ron Austin from the Southwest Florida Yacht Club also spoke at Wednesday's city council meeting. He is asking the city if the new community center could be his club's new permanent home.
"We have 400 miles of canals in Cape Coral. We have a lot of boats. Thousands of boats. And without that would be a great thing for the citizens to have a yacht club to be in." Austin said.
Council members said they understand the public's frustration with how long this is taking. They are frustrated too, but they need to get a lot of state and federal permits approved to take on a project this size.
NBC2 asked the city how long this would all take. They sent the following response:
"The Yacht Club Master Plan will come before the council for approval at a future meeting. A timeline for this will be developed in the next few weeks.
Once the council receives and approves the final design and associated fees, the project will move into the design phase.
We anticipate completion within 3-4 years, but this is contingent on federal and state permits."

January flooding prompts road work in Cape Coral to tune of $850,000
Editor's note: Cape Coral spokesperson clarified that the work at 3402 SE 10th Place is near completion and expected to be completed by the end of this week, the work at 4602 SE 6 th Avenue will begin next week, and the work at 420 Tudor Drive will begin after work at 4602 location is completed, about 2 weeks from now.
Cape Coral is spending more than $850,000 to replace pipes, structures, and surface treatments across the city that were heavily affected by rain earlier this year.
The funding resolutions are scheduled to be voted on and approved at Wednesday's regular meeting as they are on the consent agenda, which is approved usually without discussion unless pulled.
Here's what we know:
January rain
On January 15, Cape Coral experienced unprecedented rainfall of as much as 10 inches by a line of heavy thunderstorms.
Roads flooded throughout the city.
The event stressed the most of the city's stormwater systems.
"This surge caused the sudden failure of many weak points in aging infrastructure across the city," the resolution states.
Previous coverage Cape Coral, Fort Myers slammed with street flooding after 3-6 inches of rain Monday
More Cape Coral news Demolition of Cape Coral's Yacht Club slated for April will cost almost $1 million
Key areas identified
These are the locations that have been solicited to contractors for rapid work:
1323 NE Pine Island Lane: $129,800.
1107 SE 16th Place: $106,700.
3402 SE 10th Place: $197,670.
4602 SE 6th Avenue: $280,263.26.
420 Tudor Drive: $135,646.50.
Who is doing the work?
YG Construction, Inc., a North Fort Myers contractor, will do the work at 1323 NE Pine Island Lane and 1107 SE 16th Place.
The contractor will repair sinkholes at the two locations.
Southwest Utility Systems, a Fort Myers-based utility contractor, will handle 3402 SE 10th Place, 4602 SE 6th Avenue, and 420 Tudor Drive.
That work includes replacing drainage, pipes, and asphalt and base rock restoration.
Where will the money come from?
Under Cape Coral's code of ordinances , emergency purchases can be made by the procurement manager when there exists a threat to public health, welfare, and safety.
However, emergency purchases of more than $100,000 must be approved by the city council before or as soon as possible after the purchase.
Once approved, work will begin shortly. No timeline for when the contractors will be finished.
The funds for the expenses will come from the stormwater fund/operations.

The Cape Coral Youth Council was one of three winners of the 2023 Municipal Youth Council Video Competition for showcasing why the city is great and what it offers for the community, residents, and visitors alike.
Florida League of Cities Membership Program Specialist Eryn Russell presented a trophy to the Cape Coral Youth Council during Tuesday’s joint meeting with the Cape Coral City Council.
The Cape Coral Youth Council also received a $250 check.
The youth council was required to create a video and write a narrative summary.
“It’s a remarkable video,” Russell said, adding that it showcased scenic locations, wildlife, growth and community events and monthly volunteering opportunities. “The council goes above and beyond. They are the first council in the state to create a strategic plan.”
She thanked the Cape Coral Youth Council for its service, their work they have done on shining a spotlight on the city.
“Thank you for your fantastic work and congratulations for being selected as a winner,” Russell said.
The other two winners were Miramar Youth Advisory Council and Pinellas Park TeenWorkX Youth Council.
