Punta Fuego / Maya Maya, Batangas

Tali Beach

Punta Fuego and Maya Maya are a good day-sailing distance South of Subic Bay – about 50 miles – and offer a good stopover, especially in the northeast monsoon season (November to May). This area is mostly visited during the northeast monsoon but is a little exposed during the southwest monsoon, but is still safe for pleasure yachts except when there is a typhoon in the area.

Marinas In Punta Fuego / Maya Maya

Punta fuego yacht club.

The Punta Fuego Yacht Club is located on the southern shore of the Punta Fuego peninsular and has a breakwater to protect the marina from southwesterly breezes. The Punta Fuego Yacht Club provides pontoon berths for members and for visitors. There is usually limited space for visiting yachts. Both sailing yachts and motor yachts are welcome but prior arrangement is recommended if you intend to use a pontoon berth.

The Punta Fuego Yacht Club marina is considered to be typhoon safe from the perspective of the wind, but the breakwater has been topped on occasions (causing damage to the pontoons) when a passing storm is generating a large southwesterly swell. If using a yacht club mooring or anchoring in the bay immediately East of the marina berthing area then beware that lightning strikes have happened in recent past with significant consequences.

The Punta Fuego Yacht Club is an active sailing club and organizes a couple of regatta events each year during the northeast monsoon period. The yacht club is primarily a place for Club Punta Fuego home owners to keep their yachts. However, it is welcoming to visitors and offers a restaurant and accommodation. Club Punta Feugo homes are designed by/for the super-rich, so shore facilities are generally higher priced than most other places in the Philippines.

Visit the Punta Fuego Yacht Club website: www.clubpuntafuego.com.ph/yacht-club/

Maya Maya Marina

The Maya Maya marina is located about 1.5 miles ESE of Punta Fuego Yacht Club and is probably the prettiest marina in the Philippines. However, the marina is not a fully functional marina insomuch as there are very limited shore facilities unless by prior arrangement. This small marina is part of the former Maya Maya Yacht Club (currently inactive) and offers a dozen or so Mediterranean-style, stern-too moorings. Limited, basic facilities ashore.

The current challenge offered at this marina is the entrance channel, which has not been dredged for a number of years and only offers around two meters depth at high tide. However, once inside, the marina is considered typhoon safe.

There are plans to develop the marina and expand its capacity but the plans have been slow to produce action to date . . . watch this space.

Papaya Cove

If you want to haul-out for repair then a good place is at Papaya Yacht Charter Services ("PYCS") – about 3.5 miles NE of the Punta Fuego peninsular. PYCS has a travel-lift that can haul-out most pleasure yachts (not catamarans). A few moorings have been installed and there are plans to install more moorings and a small marina within the bay fronting PYCS.

The hardstand can only accommodate a dozen of so yachts at a time so prior arrangement is essential. PYCS offers most services for yachts requiring repairs but they do not stock many materials, so there is usually a wait of a day or two to have materials delivered from Metro Manila. Prior arrangements can be made so that a suitable stock of materials is available upon arrival.

There are currently only limited facilities available at PYCS for dining and other needs although they have recently created crew-rooms for overnight stays ashore . . . you can always take a trip inot Nasugbu town for supplies, ATM and other needs.

Visit the Papaya Yacht Charter Services website: www.pycsi.com

Anchoring In Punta Fuego / Maya Maya

Anchoring within the Punta Fuego / Maya Maya area is possible almost everywhere. During a northeast monsoon, particularly good anchorage will be found in the vicinity of the Maya Maya marina – sandy bottom, good holding, no obstructions, choose your preferred depth.

Another popular achorage is off Tali Beach (see image at page top). Tali beach is located between the Punta Fuego and Maya Maya marinas and is quite sheltered except from the South. Good holding mostly on sand but there are a couple of shallow areas close to shore that are quite obvious.

While at anchor in most places it is common for fisherfolk to pass by, especially around breakfast time, offering fresh fish and lobster caught locally . . . with a little negotiation you can get a good feast for not too much money.

Transport In Punta Fuego / Maya Maya

There is no public transport around Punta Fuego / Maya Maya but hire cars or motorcycles can be arranged by the marinas and resorts in the area. About the only place you might want to go is to the town of Nasugbu, where there is a substantial fresh produce market and a modest, almost-supermarket.

There is a frequent and efficient air-conditioned bus service from Nasugbu town to Metro Manila and to Tagaytay – overlooking the dramatic Taal volcano and picturesque Taal Lake.

Nasugbu town is also the closest place where banks have ATMs that are connected to international networks and are usually working.

Tatler Asia

Luxury of sailing: six yacht clubs to dock at in the philippines.

punta fuego yacht club

With its beautiful beaches, pristine waters, delicious cuisine, and warm climate, the Philippines beholds sailing luxuries for all to enjoy.

“When sailing, all the pressures — of work, trouble in the office, or home —disappear because you’re thinking about the sea, the wind, the destination, and you’re enjoying the beautiful scenery,” Europa Yachts Managing Director Robin Wyatt said. Being out on a boat is a time when one can truly relax. It is a luxury not only for financial investment but also for the soul’s well-being. As the cool a mihan wind gusts in Philippine bay areas, Philippine Tatler lists down six yacht clubs in the country best to berth, explore, and relax at.

Puerto Galera Yacht Club, Oriental Mindoro N13° 30.75’ E120 ° 57.25’ (+63943.287.3401)

Situated within one of the world’s most beautiful natural typhoon shelters, the Puerto Galera Yacht Club is a recognised hub for all cruising routes in and out of the West Pacific. Founded in 1991, the yacht club offers variety of provisions, like potable water, clean fuel, and assistance for yacht repairs. It is 15 miles south from the commercial port of Batangas (across the Verde Island Passage) where spare parts for engines, generators, etc. may be purchased. Puerto Galera’s surrounding beaches and coves offer all entertainment and facilities for water activities like scuba diving, snorkeling, and kayaking. The island is also famous for giant oyster clams, shipwrecks, the Malasimbo festival, and the popular concoction, the Mindoro sling.

Cebu Yacht Club, Mactan Island, Cebu N10° 19.43’ E123 ° 58.33’ (+63932.340.2939)

Down to the mystical waters of the Visayan region, the Cebu Yacht Club lies as an oasis of restful calm. It is a full service harbour accommodating sail and motor craft up to 300 ft long and up to 6 metre draft. The club is perfect for a lengthy stay, stopover for rest and recreation, restocking of supplies, as well as major repairs. There are nearby supermarkets and other shopping centres as well as a variety of entertainment and sports facilities. A short walk from the docks is The Cebu Yacht Club Islandville, a first-rate overnight, short-term, and long-term accommodation with comfortable water’s edge studios, suites, and villas.

Holiday Oceanview Marina, Davao N07° 11.94’ E125 ° 42.74’ (+63932.385.0708)

Sailing further down brings you to one of the safest places in the Mindanao region. Located just south of the typhoon belt, Holiday Oceanview Marina accommodates visiting vessels with the best weather to offer and is guarded by tight security as well. The marina provides 56 in-water side-to berths for yachts up to 50 ft long and has a slipway for vessels of up to 60 ft long, 7 ft draft and 20 tons. The clubhouse offers laundry, and includes a bar and meeting rooms. There are also facilities for snorkeling and scuba diving, and on Friday night, all guests are invited to a potluck barbecue. There are also many tourist attractions around Davao City and interesting sites at Samal island thus the club offers scooter and car rentals for an adventurous day-trip.

Puerta del Sol Bay Marina, Palawan N12° 11.59’ E119 ° 59.00’ (+63977.201.2223)

Off to the western shores of the country, the Puerto del Sol Bay, welcomes the cruising yachts to the fabulous white sand islands of Northern Palawan. Nearby the marina is the Puerto del Sol Resort that offers guests with luxurious rooms and suites, spa, and bayfront swimming pool. Surrounding the marina are interesting sights to see like the lagoons and thermal lakes of Coron island or the African wildlife in the Calauit island safari. There are also nearby facilities for activities like shipwreck diving, reef diving, kite flying, jetski, and hobie.

Punta Fuego Yacht Club, Batangas N14° 07.79’ E120 ° 35.39’ (+63977.201.2223)

For those who share a love for sailing, Punta Fuego Yacht Club is simply the best place to be. It welcomes sailors of yachts, superyachts, catamarans, and even small watercrafts. Non-member visitors may use berths for a total of 21 days. Its 30 berths and 150-trailer parking area ensures that members have all the necessary amenities, including locker and shower rooms, a chart room, chandlery, and a fuel station. Sailors may also enjoy a wide array of drinks and pica-pica at the Barracuda Bar to satisfy every craving. Hot items on the menu are hamburgers, frankfurters, shakes, and the popular Basque-style paella.

Subic Bay Yacht Club, Zambales N14° 49.20’ E120 ° 17.45’ (+6347.252.5211)

Up north is the Subic Bay Yacht Club in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone, which is known for being the safest and deepest bay in the whole country. It accommodates vessels from 25 ft long to 178 ft long. With top of the line security and environmentally friendly system, the berths are incomparable. Built in 1998, it is the premier yacht club in the Philippines with a 17,000 square-metre clubhouse complete with guest rooms, presidential suites, function rooms, movie theatre, restaurants, lounge bar, and nightclub. The club offers jet boats, speedboats, and pontoon boats for rent and equipment for a variety of water sports and activities, including shipwreck diving.

On Full Gear

“We want to change the perception that [sailing] is only for the top 10 per cent of the country’s population. When you sail, imagine how many lives you touch and how many small businesses you help along the way, not to mention the globally competitive boat manufacturing businesses in the Philippines,” SEA-EX 2015 chairman Angelo Olondriz said.

Driven by the dream of having in the Philippines a full-grown maritime tourism industry, Olondriz and the rest of his team and partners have geared in promoting the boat-manufacturing industry, increasing awareness for luxury sailors about the beautiful destinations in the country, as well as persuading the government to support this industry that is still in its infant stages. With the hope that by encouraging more people to engage in nautical lifestyle, SEA-EX believes that the country will have more marinas, a tourism industry sailing on full gear, and a booming economy in coastal provinces.

Club punta fuego: luxurious batangas getaway.

punta fuego yacht club

Batangas has been a favorite weekend destination because of its proximity to the metro even for corporate getaways. True enough, we spent our company outing in one of its exclusive, posh resorts – Club Punta Fuego.

punta fuego yacht club

About Club Punta Fuego

Club Punta Fuego is a premier membership resort beautifully tucked away in Nasugbu, Batangas. It takes its inspiration from Fisher Island in Miami, Florida. The place also aims to combine modern resort vibe with relaxing nature. Club Punta Fuego is consists of the Main Club in Peninsula de Punta Fuego, the Beach Club at Terrazas de Punta Fuego, and the Punta Fuego Yacht Club.

Beach Club at Terrazas de Punta Fuego

Our group stayed at the Main Club but we were also able to check out the Beach Club at Terrazas de Punta Fuego. Going around from the Main Club to the Beach Club, we saw what seemed like a quiet village with beautiful vacation houses. The two locations were a bit far away from each other but they have a shuttle service that can transfer you in 15 minutes.

Club Punta Fuego's quiet village.

Mismanaged Expectations

Most of us didn’t expect the setup of the place, that you need a shuttle service to go around. We had tight schedule for our team building activities and other amenities the company availed like massage and water sports. For each member of the group, there is an allotted time for the massage and the water activities because not enough resources were available for all of us at the same time. Our coordinator was not previously informed that as we stayed in the Casitas at the Main Club where we will have our massage, the venue for the team building and the water activities was at the fifteen-minute away Beach Club. Fortunately, despite of our schedule didn’t went as planned, we were able to do all our activities.

Accommodations

Indeed, Punta Fuego is one of the beautiful, high-end resorts I’ve seen in Batangas. Some of us were able to stay at the Standard Casita whereas others dwell at the Seaview Casita.

Seaview Casita

Together with my roommate Joan, I stayed at the Standard Casita. Club Punta Fuego used Spanish-Mediterranean architecture in designing their rooms. I like spacious rooms like their Standard Casita. They also had really comfy beds where we had our amazing massage service.

Standard Casita

Club Punta Fuego’s room amenities was superb with provision for the following: air-condition, LCD TV with satellite channels, desk and sofa, spacious bathroom, hot and cold shower, complete toiletries, large cabinets, hair dryer, coffee and tea maker, mini bar, complimentary drinks, and local phone.

Spacious bathroom.

I’ve seen a lot of pretty bathrooms and I would say, Club Punta Fuego’s bathroom has one of the unique designs I’ve encountered. The transparent glass wall may be intimidating at first but at day time, the natural light was nice and more importantly, helped saved energy.

Bathroom with transparent glass wall.

Swimming Pools

Located at the Main Club was the double infinity pool. Unfortunately during our visit, one side of the pool was being renovated. Sadly, this was not communicated to our coordinator. The double infinity pool would have been really fantastic but the sight of the other pool being constructed was such an eyesore.

Double infinity pool with a pretty ocean view.

The infinity pool also had a gorgeous nature backdrop where you can catch a lovely sunset. And just near it was a smaller pool provided for kids.

Small pool for kids.

Aside from the double infinity pool, there was another beautiful pool, the turtle pool at Terrazas de Punta Fuego. It was surrounded by relaxing pool lounge chairs where you can sit prettily while enjoying a wonderful view of the sea and a fabulous sunset.

Turtle Pool at Terrazas de Punta Fuego.

Club Punta Fuego has beaches both at the Main Club and Terrazas de Punta Fuego. Since we were staying at the Main Club, we checked out its beach first. With a rocky shore, we saw no guests swimming at the area.

Main Club beach.

The beach at Terrazas de Punta Fuego was a lot better with white, fine sand. Here you can find a lot of visitors not only swimming but doing water activities as well.

On the Table

Aside from the catered food served exclusively for our group, we were able to dine at San Diego and Il Jardineto restaurants.

punta fuego yacht club

We had some afternoon snacks at the Jardineto restaurant that really has a chill, outdoor vibe.

Jardineto Restaurant

The breakfast buffet at San Diego restaurant largely served Filipino food. Overall, food was great.

Chicken Adobo

Our team was grateful to the staff of Club Funta Fuego because even if our socials went so late, they stayed and accommodated our needs (they continuously served food and drinks). Despite all the hassles we had (infinity pool under construction, accommodations too far from team building venue), this amazing treatment of the staff seemed to wipe everything away. It was actually one of the best company socials we had.

Other Amenities

  • They have provision for team building activities.
  • Water Sport Facilities

Team building area.

Club Punta Fuego is your lavish Batangas getaway. They have cozy, modern accommodations while offering nature retreat as well. I really love the sunset we saw during the time we visited. The double infinity pool with warm, soothing waters also has a gorgeous view.

punta fuego yacht club

If the double infinity will suffice you, you can choose to stay at the casitas at the Main Club. But if you want to enjoy the beach as well, better stay near Terrazas de Punta Fuego (if this is possible). Aside from the beach, Terrazas de Punta Fuego has a beautiful turtle pool and the Il Jardineto restaurant (team building facility is near here, too).

Bottom Line

Club Punta Fuego is a four-pearl property surrounded on all sides by gorgeous beach coves in an area that’s about an hour and 15-minute drive from Batangas City. While the hotel has great outdoor areas that blend beautiful nature with infinity pools and Spanish-Mediterranean architecture, the interior design, especially in the most affordable category in the 49 rooms, is a bit bland. That doesn’t take away from the fact that there’s plenty to do here: swim, enjoy a spa, eat at one of the three restaurants, or enjoy tennis. There’s even a golf course and (dated) gym, but they’re a few miles away by hotel shuttle. Pico Sands Hotel is a good nearby alternative with more modern rooms.

Oyster hotel review, hotel with lovely grounds, ocean views, and contemporary interiors.

punta fuego yacht club

Set on a sloping hill, Club Punta Fuego features Spanish-Mediterranean architecture that takes advantage of the seafront location with lovely ocean views from restaurants and rooms. The grounds are a mix of lovely greenery, stone paths, and beautiful infinity pools that create an overall serene atmosphere. But while the exterior is idyllic, the interior is far from luxurious. The lobby is a simple open-air room with stone floors that contrast with the minimalist woven outdoor furniture with gold padding. The restaurants have a similar low-key design -- often with open-air elements -- with heavy emphasis on wood accents, bamboo furniture, or simple wooden chairs. The clientele is quite diverse -- families are drawn here for policies like children under 11 stay for free. The most often cited complaints are poor front desk service and the fact that additional requests -- either in rooms or in the restaurant -- are generally met with pesky fees.

Remote location surrounded by beach coves and over an hours' drive to Batangas City

Club Punta Fuego is surrounded by beach coves, making it the perfect getaway for beach adventures. However, those looking for lots to do off-site will be disappointed. Set near the Natipuan area of the Batangas Province, the area is mostly filled with hotels, resorts and local homes. For other dining options, travelers will have to visit other resorts’ restaurants. To enjoy the benefits of a city, Balayan is an hour- and 30-minute drive away. Batangas City takes an hour- and 15-minute drive to reach. It’s a two-hour drive to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Pleasant rooms with minibars and lovely balconies with ocean views

punta fuego yacht club

Decor is contemporary with soft ocean green color schemes or earthy oranges and golds. For the most part, the rooms are filled with simple aspects like white tiled floors and platform beds accented by plain brown or black wooden furniture with some visible scuffing. The rooms are clean and come with modern amenities like flat-screen TVs, minibars, and coffee- and tea-making facilities. Wi-Fi is free but reportedly of poor quality in the rooms. The furnished balconies are by far the best aspect, as many offer ocean views. The tan-tiled bathrooms are more dated with visible lime scale than those with white tile, wooden accents, and white vessel sinks. All bathrooms offer showers, toiletries, and hairdryers.

Infinity pools and beach access are top perks, followed by three dining options and a golf course nearby

punta fuego yacht club

The hotel’s beachfront location to 12 private beach coves allows guests to enjoy non-motorized sports and fun in the sand and sea. For those who prefer pools, there’s one family pool near the beach, two infinity pools, and a children’s pool that's filled with floating plastic balls. There’s plenty of other entertainment that ranges from a game room to a mini-theater, and even outdoor sports activities like squash, tennis, and mini-golf. Guests can relax with a massage or beauty treatment at the on-site spa. A gym is available, but it’s a few miles away by shuttle and is reportedly in poor condition.

San Diego is the main restaurant here, a buffet restaurant, that begins the day with a free hot and cold buffet breakfast. There’s also an Italian restaurant on the beach and a relaxed Member’s Lounge that serves drinks and food. Note that men are not allowed to wear tank tops in the buffet restaurant, and restaurant service has received some complaints. Event spaces include seven fully-equipped meeting rooms for business travelers or weddings. A Yacht Club and the hotel’s nine-hole golf course (located a few miles away) offer upscale vacation experiences. Wi-Fi and parking are free.

Air Conditioner

Airport transportation, balcony / terrace / patio, basic television, business center, children's pool, free breakfast, gameroom / arcade, golf course, kids allowed, meeting / conference rooms, mini bar (with liquor), poolside drink service, room service, separate bedroom / living room space, smoking rooms available, supervised kids activities, swim-up bar, tennis court.

Club Punta Fuego

Club-Punta

In 1995, ROXACO Land Corporation and Landco Pacific Corporation forged a vision for the Philippines’ first residential resort at par with the best in the world. Inspired by the Fisher Island in Miami, development began with the 88-hectare flame-shapedPeninsula de Punta Fuego (point of fire), one of only three land masses jutting out of the coastline of Nasugbu into the South China Sea blessed with twelve (12) beach coves.

Three years later, facilities of Terrazas de Punta Fuego followed, a 61-hectare property originally part of the Pedrosa and Puyat estates blessed with commanding views of the nearby mountains.

In 2006, the Punta Fuego Yacht Club was completed within the peninsula to address the Members’ growing demands for marina services.

All three destinations comprise Club Punta Fuego, a community kept tranquil through quiet exclusivity.

Operated by Fuego Hotels and Properties, world-class standards and expertise are shared with the following partner properties.
