Nine Stunning Reasons to Charter a Luxury Yacht in Mallorca

Mallorca is an island of contrasts and on a luxury charter yacht here you will find fabulous restaurants and a glittering nightlife, as well as peace and tranquility with some of the most beautiful of beaches, imposing mountain cliffs, sprawling vineyards and orange groves, along with traditional fishing villages and historical towns.

Mallorca is one of the Mediterranean's most popular luxury mega yacht charter destinations, thanks to the near-year-round sunshine, azure waters, varied landscapes and warm hospitality. To discover this island with a knowledgeable Captain on a crewed yacht charter is an unrivalled opportunity to really savour this beguiling Spanish isle. 

Here are our highlights of the stunning island that is Mallorca. 

1. Palma de Mallorca

Palma is a very easy place to start and finish a charter but this capital of the Balearic islands is much more. Situated on the south coast of Mallorca and dominated by the Gothic Santa Maria cathedral is a delightful city that we do recommend you spend a little time enjoying. Palma de Mallorca comes as a surprise to many people - it is stylish, sophisticated, intimate, yet bursting with life. 

The old quarter with its tiny cobbled streets and characterful buildings is so easy to explore being only a little over one square kilometre and packed with a variety of cafes, restaurants and bars ranging from quirky little cellars serving local delicacies through to internationally renowned 5-star restaurants.

The shopping here is also an eclectic mix but there are a number of areas with stylish boutiques and shoe shops. There is an excellent night life, and yacht clubs, Club de Mar and the Real Club Nautico which hosts various superyacht and sailing regattas all year round. Palma is a marvellous blend of traditional and contemporary, with something for every inclination.

2. Port d'Andraitx

Located on the Southwest corner of Mallorca is a lovely village, Port d'Andraitx, that mixes traditional fishing port with an internationally classed yacht club, Club de Vela, and a string of cosmopolitan bars and restaurants lining the waterfront. There's nothing quite like sipping a cold quiet drink while watching the fisherman at their daily work - sewing nets, landing fish, hauling ice. And the shopping here has a lot to recommend it as well, with a little of everything including some delightful designer clothes and jewelry shops.

3. Port Adriano

Port Adriano is unashamedly devoted to luxury. This up-scale super-yacht port was remodeled by renowned French architect Philippe Starck in 2012 creating one of the most modern marinas in the Mediterranean. Little touches such as bollards and special lighting create an overall effect that oozes charm and sophistication. There are a wide selection of restaurants in Port Adriano offering a superb range of international cuisines. Nautical sports such as paddle surf, fly-board and jet skis are also well catered for and there is a superb golf course nearby.

4. Port Soller

The only village accessible by sea along the rugged west coast of Mallorca Port Soller is a gem nestled in the beautiful surrounding mountain range, the 'Serra de Tramuntana', a UNESCO World Heritage Site. While there are a variety of bars and restaurants this is a much more peaceful place than many of the towns and villages more easily accessible by road. And one should also take the tram up to Soller village. This is an enjoyable ride through the valleys and hills on a piece of history - the same tram with it's polished brass and wood has been travelling this route since 1913. 

5. Port Pollensa

On the North coast is Puerto Pollensa, a typical Mallorcan town with a maze of narrow streets. It is one of the most beautiful harbours on the island and also one of the deepest and most protected. The sheltered horseshoe shaped bay is set against the stunning backdrop of the Tramuntana mountain range, and it is blessed with calm, shallow waters which makes it popular with families. The landscape here is so diverse; steep mountains meet picturesque shores, the green of the pine trees contrasting with grey limestone rocks.

6. Porto Colom

Another attractive small village that has resisted large-scale development Porto Colom is set in a large natural harbour on the east coast of Mallorca. The entrance to the bay is signposted with a picturesque and photogenic lighthouse. Lovely pastel coloured houses line the waterfront along with mostly very traditional bars and restaurants, complemented with a myriad of small fishing boats.

7. Valldemossa

Valldemossa is one of the most charming of villages in Mallorca. It is situation in the hills of the Tramuntana range about 17 km from Palma surrounded by forested hills and lush countryside.  Artists, writers and musicians, including Chopin, have long been attracted here. It is traditional small town with delightful narrow streets and lanes lined with cafes, galleries and gift shops and built out of blonde stone, as are the houses. The doorways and streets are adorned with beautiful green plants and colourful flowers making this one of the prettiest towns in Mallorca. 

Another idyllic village located in the hills of the Tramuntana range Deia boasting green-shuttered, ochre-coloured houses has become a millionaires' hideaway. It is a tiny place with just a few cobbled streets, as well as two high-end hotels and eclectic array of fabulous restaurants. ucked just below the village of Deia is the idyllic Cala Deia. A picture-perfect small shingle bay set in a stunning setting, where the crystal clear waters lap the stones. We recommend lunch at the restaurant that perches in the water there. 

9. Cabrera Island

While not on Mallorca we do recommend a short side visit to this lovely little uninhabited island. Cabrera, located off the south east corner of Mallorca, has a unique ecosystem with a range of flora and fauna not found elsewhere. It is also steeped in history dating back to the Napoleonic wars when thousands were imprisoned here. Ashore, as well as some great walks, there is one cafe/bar/restaurant where you will meet local rangers located here over the summer. A permit is required and with enough notice your Captain will be able to organise this.

It is also one of the most ancient cities in Spain , and its history goes back more than 2,000 years. The town’s roots go deep into the Roman Empire, and it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its historical sites and buildings.

From the Iberian culture, the Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Christians, and many more have left their mark on this beautiful city. Experience this town on a Palma de Mallorca Luxury Yacht Charter in the Balearic Islands .

The best time to visit is from the end of April until October. Temperatures range from 68–82 °F, and evenings may be cool and require a jacket or light sweater.

• Caves of Genova . Descend over 100 feet into these caves close to Palma de Mallorca. The caves were naturally sculpted over time and contain impressive domes, columns, water pools, and tunnels.
• S’Hort del Rei Garden (The King’s Orchard) is A medieval park with cypress trees, fountains, ponds, and pergolas. The garden was once part of the Royal Palace of La Almudain.

• Nightlife. In Palma de Mallorca, there are many districts that offer exciting nightlife. There are numerous restaurants, bars, and live music venues to try while visiting. Have drinks at Cafe Atlantico Cocktail Bar or dance the night away at Pacha Mallorca or Kaelum Club.
• Shopping . Stores offer leather goods, handicrafts, jewelry, and more. San Miguel and Carrer streets are some of the best places for shopping.
• Beaches . For seclusion and swimming, try La Cova beach. Kayaking and windsurfing are excellent at Playa d’en Bossa, and Es Portell beach is popular with surfers due to the big waves there.
• Hiking . Mallorca’s landscape offers some excellent hiking routes for all skill levels.

Palma de Mallorca’s incredible food scene is one of the main reasons for choosing to charter a yacht here. From fish and shellfish dishes, like gambas pil-pil or espetada , to a wide range of meats, there is something for every taste.

The abundant seafood and meat options provide an excellent opportunity for tasting local cuisine on your yacht charter. For the vegans and vegetarians out there, don’t worry! Plenty of restaurants serve fresh fruit and vegetables and vegan and vegetarian options.

• Pamboli – a traditional sandwich made with Majorcan bread, olive oil, and tomato.
• Ensaimada – traditional sweet pastry topped with powdered sugar or filled with chocolate, cream, or fruit.
• Sobrasada – Cured pork sausage that is typical of Mallorca.
• Bunyols – (sweet pastries) Bunyols are commonly made of boiled potatoes, flour, eggs, butter or lard, yeast, and sugar; they are fried in hot oil and then sprinkled with sugar. These sweet treats are typically made in autumn.

Once your embarkation date is 7 days away, the remainder of the amount due is processed.
• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is made 7 days or less in advance, the total price of your reservation is processed immediately.
• If you are booking for a multi-day charter and your reservation is confirmed more than 30 days in advance, a deposit of 50% of the cost of the yacht is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 30 days away, the other 50% is collected for the price of the yacht, plus the APA, plus the taxes due.

Terms of refunds are dictated by the Charter Agreement. Generally, once a payment is collected, it is non-refundable. In certain circumstances, as dictated by the Charter Agreement, credits can be provided so you will be able to enjoy your yacht charter at a future date that is convenient for you.

of the world's most unforgettable destinations.

A private jet and two yachts have been seized, as three people have been arrested, in a £76m raid on a group who ran luxury care homes.

Two sites were raided across St Leonard's, Dorset, and Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, as part of the Serious Fraud Office (SFO) probe, supported by the National Crime Agency (NCA).

The investigation is looking into the UK registered property developer, the Carlauren Group, which collapsed into administration in November 2019.

When it folded, the SFO said that it led to some elderly residents being forced to move out, and left 600 investors out of pocket.

The Carlauren Group bought 23 properties across the UK, often former hotels including the historic Windlestone Hall in Durham, and allegedly claimed to offer annual 10 per cent returns to investors as it sought to turn the buildings into high-end care homes.

However, the SFO said only nine of these became operational and some continued as hotels instead of care homes.

Alongside that, the group allegedly purchased a number of supercars, including two Lamborghinis and a McLaren 570GT, a private jet and two yachts.

Nick Ephgrave QPM, director of the Serious Fraud Office, said: "This company's abrupt collapse has created turmoil and enormous anxiety for many, with elderly people forced to vacate their homes and investors left with nothing.

"Today's arrests are a major development in our investigation and a step towards getting the answers so many people need."

The group was said to have had 600 people and companies invest in the scheme through the purchase of rooms that were to be rented out to the elderly.

This was inside luxury facilities that boasted of swimming pools, room service and other amenities.

According to the SFO, the rooms were advertised and sold with a guaranteed annual payout and opportunity to sell the asset back for a profit after 10 years
