a large, seaworthy catamaran

The catamaran LAGOON 50 gives the passengers a great feeling of space and is in the range between LAGOON 450 and LAGOON 52. The catamaran LAGOON 50 not only impresses with the best available space and an impressive panoramic view, the conical hulls also contribute to its impressive appearance. This yacht can also be adapted to all individual wishes & needs. The LAGOON 50 catamaran is an ocean-worthy yacht in a class of its own.

Both the interior and the layout of the LAGOON 50 are smartly designed and the focus lies on comfort. The large layout is well-thought-out and reveals an innovative concept in which every single detail fits perfectly together. The LAGOON 50 catamaran comes with 3, 4, 5, or 6 cabins and at request can be easily customized!

More information about the Lagoon can be found here.

Design Exterior

There are plenty of ways to relax on the deck of the LAGOON 50. In the protected aft cockpit, in the front cockpit, on the foredeck or in the spacious lounge area on the flybridge.

The LAGOON 50 catamaran has a large, practical and open cockpit with perfect all-round visibility. As usual on Lagoon catamarans, it is easy to get on and off-board thanks to the large rear steps on the transom. The flybridge of the LAGOON 50 can be accessed from two sides and it houses the helm station which has perfect all-round visibility. There is sufficient storage space under the seats in the cockpit and on the flybridge. The second cockpit of the LAGOON 50 is located on the foredeck and offers 2 possible uses: either on the same level with the trampoline on the bow or embedded as a seating area. The flexible seating and chill area behind the helm on the catamaran offer sufficient storage space. The easily modifiable dining area of the LAGOON 50 with removable seats offers a feel-good atmosphere for children and adults.

Design Interior

The spatial comfort of the LAGOON 50 is diverse. Thanks to the fact that the large freshwater and holding tanks are installed under the floorboards, there is a vast space available on the LAGOON 50 catamaran. A gray water tank can also be optionally installed!

The salon concept on the LAGOON 50 catamaran meets the spirit of the times. The salon is on 2 levels, but the 2 areas are not enclosed from each other. There is a large pantry on the side of the cockpit. On the other side there is a slightly higher seating area that provides an even better panoramic view. The interior, the layout of the LAGOON 50 is not only smart, but also comfortably designed. The large-scale layout is well-thought-out and reveals an innovative concept in which every single detail fits perfectly together. The LAGOON 50 catamaran comes with 3, 4, 5, or 6 cabins and at request can be easily customized!

The inside and outside of the LAGOON 50 harmonize perfectly and are connected by a large sliding door. The panoramic window in the middle can be opened for the best ventilation in the cockpit and saloon. The interior design can be configured by the owner individually, but the endless impressive wood finish options are hard to choose from. The aft cabins are flooded with light – this is ensured by the large portholes and the beautiful panoramic windows. All cabins in the hull of the LAGOON 50 are equipped with island beds and offer plenty of storage space (shelves, cupboards).

Lagoon 50 - power and performance.

The LAGOON 50 catamaran has a mast positioned further aft that opens up to additional advantages. The outstanding features include the self-tacking jib, shorter boom for easier maneuvers, and the forestay/forward triangle for a better selection of downwind sails.

How is the performance of the LAGOON 50 optimized? The re-centering of weight, thanks to aft positioning of rigging, considerably reduces the boat’s pitch. In addition, the mainsail with a high-aspect-ratio captures the airflow in the upper part better, which ensures the best catamaran sailing performance.

Lagoon 50 Catamaran Review

  • By Mark Pillsbury
  • Updated: June 26, 2018

lagoon 50

At a press event during the Miami International Boat Show last winter, the Lagoon 50 was described by a company spokeswoman as being “the most open-minded catamaran on the market.” That’s a statement that could be taken in a number of ways.

First, there are the multiple social areas encompassed by the boat’s 48-foot-5-inch LOA and 26-foot-7-inch beam. There are dining tables indoors and out, lounge areas astern and forward. Overhead, the flybridge offers more room to gather or get away. The crew could sunbathe on cushions that store in a locker built into the Bimini, or take a seat by the wheel and help out with the sailing, though, to be honest, with autopilot, a self-tacking jib and electric winches at your fingertips, it’s possible to keep things simple. Then again, roll out the optional genoa and sheet it home, and things can get sporty, real quick.

We tried a little of both in some breeze after the show. With a reef in the main and the self-tending jib trimmed home, coming about required turning the wheel and adjusting the traveler using the nearby electric Harken line drive.

Later, with the big (optional) headsail set, well, I was happy to have a couple of extra sets of hands to help sort out steering, blowing one sheet and trimming the other, and keeping track of the high-aspect square-top main. For the record, beating in about 15 knots of breeze, the speedo ranged from 5.6 to 6.2 knots; with the genoa unfurled and on a reach, the GPS read 9 knots and change.

Open-minded could also refer to the range of layouts available. The cat we sailed featured an owners suite in the starboard hull with an island-style double berth aft, a head with separate shower in the bow and a walk-in dressing room inboard and just forward of the companionway to the saloon. Portside, there were cabins fore and aft with en-suite separate head and shower. Instead of a dressing room, there was a cavernous storage space inboard. If desired, the port heads could be reconfigured to create three single-stall heads with showers, and the storage space could be transformed into another double cabin. And if an owner chose to forgo a master suite, a six-cabin, six-head layout is also available, though to me, 12 crew even on a 50-footer seems tight.

All that room for variation below translated into abundant living space above. Stepping aboard from the optional fold-down swim and tender platform, a long couch spanned the transom, with storage on the port end and a barbecue on the other that can be spun around so you can cook either from the cockpit or transom stairs. A teak table was forward to port, located nearby the L-shaped galley just inside the saloon. With both its leaves open, the table seats 12. Opposite was a cushioned couch alongside a fridge, ice maker and sink.

Entering the saloon, you step into the cook’s domain, with L-shaped Corian counters to either side of the sliding glass door. To port, there was sink, cooktop, oven and microwave; to starboard sat a fridge, freezer and storage. Ahead, an island offered yet more locker and counter space, and it served as a transition to a raised living area that was a step higher than the rest of the bridgedeck. A full-size nav station was to starboard. Forward of that, a U-shaped couch wrapped around the front of the saloon. In the center, there was a clever table arrangement: Upright, it was for dining; tipped aft and lowered on its hinged legs, it rested against the island (which also housed a retractable flat-screen TV) and became a place to set cocktails or popcorn on movie night.

There was yet more seating on the foredeck, where another U-shaped couch (forward-facing this time) surrounded another small table. The builder designed the center saloon window so it lowered to let in the breeze or so crew inside and out could converse.

The 50 comes standard with a pair of 57 hp Yanmars. The boat we sailed was powered with optional 80 hp Yanmars. The option list included a number of other upgrades, including an 11 kW Onan genset, which brought the price tag to just about 1.07 million euros (roughly $1.32 million, depending on currency fluctuations).

Lagoon has bigger boats in its range, but they’re designed with a captain and crew in mind. The 50 is meant for the owner and mates who’ve outgrown their 45-footer but still want to go off voyaging on their own, and can do so thanks to a networked plotter and autopilot, a bow thruster, a self-tacking jib and power winches. When it comes down to what’s possible, it pays to keep an open mind.

Lagoon 50 Catamaran – The Prestigious Multihull

lagoon 50 catamaran interior

The Lagoon 50 is an all-new 48-foot-long catamaran from Lagoon that’s designed and built by the French expert designers VPLP. The exterior design of the vessel was done by the legendary Patrick le Quement while the classy interior was the brilliant work of Nauta Design. What’s more striking in the Lagoon 50, compared to other models, is her new sleek hull design, advanced sporty lines, and easy-to-handle rig and deck layout.

Aside from her stunning beauty on the outside, she boasts of a superbly comfortable interior, practical cabin layouts, and generous exterior deck space that can sync with every holidaymaker’s needs. Her performance at sea is also uncompromising, something that takes the sailing experience to a whole new level.

The below Lagoon 50 catamaran review takes a close-up look at the vessel’s design (both interior & exterior), onboard amenities, and what to expect when you charter it:

Table of Contents

Accommodation

Lagoon 50 comes with six cabins that are capable of hosting up to 12 guests in utmost comfort and luxury. The master suite, which takes up almost all the space in the starboard hull, is equipped with a desk (with a built-in bookcase and small settee), ahead with a separate shower and walk-in closet/ dressing room.

On the port side, there are cabins fore and aft, furnished with en-suite separate head and shower. The port heads can be re-configured to create three single-stall heads with showers if need be. Instead of a walking closet, these cabins only have a cavernous storage space in-board, which can be easily transformed into another double cabin.

If you don’t want a master suite, there is a 6-cabin, 6-head layout that you can make use of in this vessel. All the aft cabins are fitted with panoramic glazing that allows a generous amount of light to pour in. The large hull portholes in the showers and bathrooms of the cabins also add to the comfort at sea, especially when sailing during bad weather.

The cat’s interior is spacious, with every design detail brought out perfectly to create a warm and cozy atmosphere. Her innovative saloon incorporates two separate but cohesive areas. On one side is a large galley, which opens onto the cockpit while on the other lies a slightly elevated lounge area that provides amazing vision over the waters.

The galley comes in two sections: two refrigerator drawers on the starboard side and a three-burner Eno stove and a sink on the port side. The countertop space on the galley is vast, making it more comfortable and more convenient for cooks and bartenders to prepare food and drinks.

Just close to the L-shaped galley in the saloon is a teak table with open leaves that can seat up to 12 guests. Opposite it lies a cushioned couch alongside a sink fridge and ice maker. All these, when combined with the plush accommodations, make relaxing and resting on board a soothing experience.

Lagoon 50’s helm is on the flybridge, where there’s a long bench seat that can accommodate the captain and at least three companions.

Just below the flybridge is a cockpit area facing out to the sea with a huge modular dining area that’s furnished with a dining table, comfortable sofas, removable benches, and storage spaces.

There are two access points to the flybridge, where you can enjoy great comfort and visibility. Vast storage spaces also exist under most of the flybridge and cockpit seats, where guests can put in their extra stuff.

Entertainment

Lagoon 50 is furnished with all the entertainment facilities that can make your onboard experience lively, fun and interactive. Within the salon, there’s a flat screen TV, Video Cassette Recorder (VCR) and a stereo that you can use to entertain yourself and the guests.

You also have access to onboard Wi-Fi that’s available 24 Hours. That means you can easily browse the internet and share your experiences with friends and family online at any time of the day.

Performance

The 50’s twin 57-HP Yanmar diesel engines (upgradable to 80 HP) with sail drives and folding propellers can deliver up a cool 9.5 knots at 3000 rpm. If you’re looking for fuel efficiency, then you can go at 2200 rpm with 7.5 knots in speed. Lagoon 50 further has a networked plotter and autopilot, a self-tacking jib, a bow thruster, and power winches, which make her performance stunning.

Where Does Lagoon 50 Sail

Lagoon 50 is available for sailing across many places. But in a typical summer, you’ll find it in Croatia. The preferred pickup point is Marina Kastela, SPLIT. Alternatively, you can use the other pick-up area, which is ACI Dubrovnik, if you feel that’s a more convenient point for you.

Hi Charles,

Thank you for the comment and wish you a nice day!

I think the comfort that the vessel offer the passenger is incredible because I can’t think of myself traveling in that vessel and not having access to the internet and listen to music, these are things that makes the modern life worth living. It is nice that the manufacturer included this, and the fact that it engine is upgradable to 80 horse power makes it a fantastical purchase. How much do you think a fairly used Lagoon 50 will cost?

You are right; it’s essential to have all the comfort when sailing. This boat is to charter, not to sell:) If you are interested in renting this boat, then you should check the brochure. You’ll find all the information you need, including price, specification to name a few.

Please, don’t hesitate to contact me with any question. I am always glad to assist.

Hi! When it comes to planning vacations with family, we all get around the PC and study options. We haven’t had this reunion yet, but I know they’ll definitely love Lagoon 50 Catamaran.

I’m excited about its magnificent exterior and classy interior. Our experience in the coastal scenery will be wonderful. And we have been wanting to go to Croatia for a time. Thank you very much for this review. I’ll probably write back when all the family is together to decide. 🙂

That’s a good idea:) Let me know when you and your family are ready, I’ll be more than happy to help.

Wow! The view of the boat is beautiful surrounded by the sea and sky which is amazing! Great article on the Lagoon 50 with amazing interior, accommodation is nice, entertainment exterior surroundings, everything is nice about the catamaran. I am sure that persons would want to go on the yacht for recreation whenever  they are booking for a party or a cruise. Thank you for such an informative post!

I agree it is a beautiful boat and it’s hard to resist the temptation of renting it for a sailing holiday:)

Let me know if you need any help. I’ll be more than happy to assist.

Thank you for the comment and wish you to sail soon.

Daniella your beautiful site is opening up a world of vacation ideas to me that I’d never considered before. Who wouldn’t love a Lagoon 50 Catamaran holiday? No one I can think of! Truly, this vessel is more beautiful than many homes on land, and it would surely make for the ideal vacation you suggest. Since I’m not very familiar yet with this kind of adventure, how many people usually comprise the crew for such a vessel? Do they use some of the sleeping accommodations you describe? Sorry if these are dumb questions
I’m so intrigued and curious to learn, and you obviously have the knowledge to answer my questions. Thank you so much for your insights. I’m truly beginning to imagine the possibilities
.

That’s right, who wouldn’t want to spend vacations on this boat:) The Lagoon 50 can be rented without a crew. This means if you have a skipper license, you can navigate the boat yourself. Another possibility is to hire a skipper and even add more crew to the party such as a hostess, chef, etc. Usually, the skipper has his own cabin, but if space is restricted, then he will sleep in the saloon. There are lounge areas in the boat that can be converted to a bed in the evening:)

I hope it helped. Please, don’t hesitate to contact me with any question, I’ll be more than happy to assist.

Thank you for the comment and wish you a lovely day.

It’s amazing to see how beautiful can be a catamaran in 2019! It seems like you’re living at home while sailing though Mediterranean see. It would be great to have a look to the costs of staying in the different harbors of Croatia and maybe down till Greece to have an idea to plan better a journey with the costs of every situation! Seeing the costs of the catamaran it’s not so prohhibitive.. .very good!

True, the Lagoon 50 is a beautiful yacht. It is truly a resort that floats on the water. You choose your own itinerary; price varies depending on the duration, season, etc. If you don’t have any bareboat license, then a skipper on board will be required. And yes, the price is very attractive!

Please, don’t hesitate to contact me with any question. I am always happy to assist.

Thank you for the comment and wish a nice day.

Hi; I can see from your record of building January 2019, that the Lagoon 50 is relatively new. About how many hours, days, or weeks did it take the builders of Lagoon 50 to start and complete this magnificent “sea Machine”?

Should I choose the Lagoon 50 for my next vacation, where would I board the Craft?

This is a question you will have to ask the manufacturer:) I have no idea on how long it took for them to build the Lagoon 50.

Anyway, as it is mentioned in the article, there are several pickup points. Kastela, Split, and Dubrovnik.

I hope it helped. Let me know if you need more information. I’ll be glad to assist.

Thank you for the comment and wish you all the best!

Croatia has been on my bucket list for quite some time now. I had not thought about chartering a catamaran, but what a great idea! We are planning our family reunion, and this looks like a great way to do it! I will be checking out the pricing and seeing if it will fall in our budget. Do you know how far Marina Kastela is from the airport?

To answer your question, Croatia Split is the nearest airport to Kastela. The distance from Split to Kastela is only 6 km. I hope it helped! Don’t hesitate to contact me with any question, I am always happy to assist!

Thank you for the comment and wish you a lovely day!

Under the wise influence of VPLP this new generation Lagoon has the mast step positioned further aft providing a competitive sailing experience, providing the 50 with numerous sailing advantages for you to enjoy.

With Lagoons signature flybridge, the Lagoon 50 is on another level… with dual access and a helm station, experience perfect visibility. The large forward triangle offers a wider choice of downwind sails, guaranteeing performance.

PERFORMANCE

The decision to position the mast step further aft, which stems directly from VPLP’s experience in competitive sailing, provides this catamaran with multiple advantages:

A self-tacking jib for simplified manoeuvres.

A large forward triangle for a wider choice of downwind sails: a guaranty of performance,

A shorter boom for easier manoeuvres.

A main sail, with a high aspect ratio, enabling the capture of better airflow in the upper parts of the sail for optimised performance.

The re-centring of weight, thanks to aft positioning of rigging, considerably reduces the boat’s pitch.

Lagoon 50 (2023) 'Echo'

lagoon 50 catamaran interior

Lagoon 50 charter catamaran f eatures:

The large, open-plan, aft cockpit of the Lagoon 50 catamaran features an L-shaped lounge area that is very comfortable for general leisure and provides uninterrupted views of the ocean beyond. In the evening, the cockpit can be transformed into a fabulous dining area, seating a large number of guests for dinner, and a small wet bar with a sink and ice maker is perfectly placed for serving drinks. Plus, the carefully designed steps provide easy access from the lower stern platform.

There is a spacious helm station with a centre steering wheel to ensure the best possible visibility on the raised flybridge. A large sundeck is positioned just behind the wheel to allow the helmsman to drive, whilst enjoying the company of a partner or guests relaxing nearby.

The Lagoon 50 is a dream to sail. The central mast is positioned further aft to help reduce pitching and the tall, high-aspect mainsail provides excellent performance. Shorthanded crews will benefit from the large self-tacking headsail and  a short and easy-to-reef boom .

The Lagoon 50 catamaran’s large and spacious saloon is truly unique. The well-equipped galley is positioned aft and looks onto the elevated saloon area for a fabulous open-plan living space. The slightly raised lounge with large glazing provides panoramic views that can be enjoyed whether sitting or standing. Furthermore, the comfortable, deluxe seating area features a clever fold-away table that can be adjusted in height to be suitable as a dining table or coffee table. This creates the perfect dining area that can be used by cr ew s large or small.

There are 4 sumptuous double cabins and an additional two compact doubles amidships. Each cabin has its own head and shower. There is a skipper’s cabin in the port bow and a head and shower in the starboard bow.

Whether you are a group of 4 or a group of 10 (+), this is a spectacular cat to purr around the BVI in.

Find Your Rate Check out our special offers

Did you know Horizon’s charters start and finish at noon? This means we can get you out sailing your first afternoon after your briefings – remember to watch your video briefings to speed up your check out! At the end of your trip, you sail back to Nanny Cay to refuel and debrief before your noon departure. This gives you a full 6 nights/7 days chartering around our beautiful islands, unlike some companies that start at 5pm, meaning you will have to sleepaboard* at the docks, and then finish at 10am, again meaning you will probably have to stay overnight on the docks the night before you leave to fly home.

*If available, a sleep aboard can be added the night before your charter start for a small supplement, boarding your yacht after 5pm.

Our standard charter rates are applicable for charters of 5 days or more up to a maximum of five weeks. For a tailored quote for charter durations outside this range please contact our reservations team who will be pleased to assits.

Current Rates

Weekly rates (full 7 days / 6 nights) are listed above as daily rates. Charters start and finish at noon. Our minimum charter duration requirement is 5 nights.

BVI Charter Rates are subject to change without notice.

Horizon Yacht Charters BVI Charter Rates are listed above. Yacht photographs and specifications act as a guide and are for information purposes only.  Although we endeavour to ensure that images are accurate reflections of the yachts in our fleet, certain aspects may vary slightly, such as yacht deck, the colour of the hull, dodger or bimini.

All yachts come with rigid inflatables & outboards, biminis, BBQ, Stereo, GPS, linens, towels, safety & galley equipment etc. See  What’s Included  for a full list.

C = Cabins, H = Heads, AC = Air Conditioning, S = Skipper first day only

*Additional $700 supplement per week applies from Dec 18 – Jan 4

May we advise that HDW insurance, Cruising Permits and National Parks Permit are payable before departure from the dock in cash or travellers’ cheques, as using a Credit Card will incur a 5% surcharge. Upon return of the vessel, you are required to top off the water and fuel tanks, which you receive full upon boarding the vessel.

BVI Charter Rates shown above are for 6 nights per vessel (min 5 nights except for Christmas and New Year min 7 nights + supplements on selected yachts) with the additional daily rate should you wish to add nights. BVI Charters start and finish at noon. Sleep-aboard (the option of staying on board your yacht at the dock) with the boarding of your vessel available after 5.00 pm, can sometimes be added to the start of your charter at an extra charge of $75.00 per head per night (minimum of $200.00 per night), depending upon yacht availability.

lagoon 50 catamaran interior

Licensed for 6 persons, this 15ft RIB with 60HP Yamaha outboard will get you and your crew to snorkelling spots and the beach in style and comfort.

Make your charter yacht vacation a breeze – enjoy the comfort of being able to tie up your yacht for the night and then continue exploring the surrounding bays! You can pick up your mooring ball at the Bight and then head to the Indians or the Caves for a snorkel. If you visit the Dogs, there’s no need to choose only one snorkel spot for your lunch stop, zip around them all!  A swim ladder makes boarding easy from the water.

For popular spots where it’s trickier to find a mooring, the RIB is the perfect alternative. Settle into Great Harbour, Jost Van Dyke for the night and then take the RIB to White Bay for the afternoon to enjoy painkillers without the hassle of finding a mooring ball or having to move your yacht for the night.

The North Sound boasts a selection of some of the best dining options in the BVI. There’s no need to settle for only one spot when you have the RIB. Pick up provisions from Leverick Bay, enjoy the plunge pool at Nova in Deep Bay, and then zip back to the sound for sundowners at Saba Rock before enjoying dinner at The Bitter End.

If you have a mix of snorkelers, beachgoers, shoppers and sailors onboard then give your group flexibility by taking the standard dinghy included in your charter as well. This will also remove the need to make multiple dinghy trips ashore for larger groups.

Lagoon catamarans.

Lagoon catamarans are known for their spacious accommodations, innovative design and better than average sailing capabilities. They are popular with both live aboard sailors and catamaran charters. Lagoons catamaran models range in size from 38 feet to 78 feet in length. They are also the builders of the Lagoon 380 , the most popular catamaran model in history. Currently, 14 models are offered by Lagoon with a variety of configurations, floor plans and accessories.

Lagoon was founded in 1984 by Jeanneau , a high volume monohull sailboat  builder that was eventually purchased by Beneteau . The catamarans are designed by internationally renowned architects Lauriot Prevost and Van Peteghem of VPLP and built in X, France. With more than 4,700 Lagoon catamarans built to date, Lagoon is the largest producer of multihulls in the world.

For a sailor looking for a spacious live aboard catamaran a Lagoon is a great option. However, this space comes at the cost a significantly heavier catamaran than more performance oriented models.

Lagoon Models

Lagoon 410 Catamaran

The successor of the Lagoon 42, the Lagoon 410 catamaran is quite different in terms of the massive bridge deck saloon, saloon leveling, and the genoa jib it offers. It is wider which means it offers more lateral stability, safety, and volume. DESIGN – INTERIOR & EXTERIOR ACCOMMODATIONS The Lagoon 410 offers four large double cabins with a bathroom in each or one large washroom and a study in the starboard hull. The aft and the forward cabins are spacious, and can easily accommodate a family of 8 onboard, although the forward cabins are slightly narrower than the aft cabins. There is also headspace in not only the cabins but also the passageway to make movement easy and fluid. The

Lagoon 50 Catamaran

Winner of The Multihull of The Year Award 2018, the British Yachting Awards 2018, and the Sail’s Best Boat of The Year Award of 2019, the Lagoon 50 catamaran offers some thoughtful and innovative features. Some parts of the catamaran – such as the cockpit and the saloon – have been completely redesigned. DESIGN – INTERIOR & EXTERIOR The interior design of the Lagoon 50 is a product of the Nauta Design while Patrick Le Quement and VPLP Design gave shape to its exterior. The Lagoon 50 catamaran, with its rich and dark Alpi Walnut plywood construction and UV varnish finishing, comes with three, four, and even six cabin layouts and provides a generous amount of volume and space. DECK

Lagoon 77 Catamaran

Winner of the Adriatic Boat of The Year and the Asian Award, the 23.3 metres tall Lagoon 77 catamaran is the largest Lagoon ever built in the world. Remarkably spacious yet also very luxuriously built, the Lagoon 77 catamaran is a product of exterior design from Patrick Le Quement and Italian Nauta Design. DESIGN – EXTERIOR & INTERIOR The Lagoon 77 has many different layouts such as 3-cabins, 4-cabins and 5-cabins. There is also an option between forward galley and aft galley layout. DECK The side-decks of Lagoon 77 are not only wide and spacious, but also have fine teak finishing which gives the catamaran an elegant look. The side-decks lead to two large grey nylon mesh springy trampolines at

Lagoon 440

Launched in 2004, the Lagoon 440 catamaran was the first catamaran under 45 feet to boast a fly bridge and an unprecedented nacelle in the shape of a gull’s wing. With the production of 432 units, the Lagoon 440 catamaran broke world records for the under-45 feet range of catamaran. DESIGN – EXTERIOR & INTERIOR Designed by shipyard Jeanneau, the main designing objective of the Lagoon 440 was enhanced speed and reduced pitching. ACCOMODATIONS Accessed by a sliding door, the Lagoon 440 has a large saloon which can easily be populated by 8 people. The pale wooden finishing of the light interior has a calming effecting, pronounced by the air conditioning system which can be controlled separately. The vertical windows

Lagoon 42 Catamaran

From stealing the spotlight in the Sydney International Boat Show to bagging four awards within one year of its launch, the Lagoon 42 catamaran is famous for its almost oxymoronic quality of being remarkably spacious yet compact enough to be easy to navigate.  DESIGN – EXTERIOR & INTERIOR The Lagoon 42 catamaran is a powerful yet graceful product of Patrick Le Quement’s exterior designing combined with France’s VPLP Design. The interior has been designed by Italy’s Nauta Design and the Lagoon 42 boasts a generous space not only in the cockpit but also the helm and the saloon, thanks to the unique uniform cockpit to saloon leveling.  HELM The Lagoon 42 catamaran’s helm station easily fulfills the need for a

Lagoon 380 Catamaran

The Lagoon 380 is the smallest catamaran built by Lagoon at 38 feet and is known as the most successful cruising catamaran model. Introduced in 2000,  it was built to be a workhouse for the charter industry and an entry level-cruiser. It is a great entry level cruising catamaran that sails better than many other cats and provides lots of living space for the money. Despite the small size the Lagoon 380 combines spacious accommodations normally reserved for much larger catamarans while still retaining decent performance. Charter versions of the Lagoon 380 have four staterooms and two heads. Owner versions have a master suite in the starboard hull that has a spacious bathroom with shower and head, in addition to

SUNREEF 88 DOUBLE DECK: A catamaran designed for ultimate comfort!

680 mÂČ of canvas downwind, 460 mÂČ upwind, the Sunreef 88 DD is a real sailboat making 7 knots in just 10 knots of wind

The 88 DD is an imposing catamaran with an air draft of over 40 meters... Welcome to the outsized world of superyachts!

The sheer of the deck makes it possible to house a jet-ski on the sidedeck while maintaining good headroom in the cabins...

On the flybridge, behind the helm station, you find all the indispensable features for relaxation: sunbathing, barbecue, bar and a magnificent 35mÂČ of space

The helm station located on the flybridge allows for handling everything on the entire cat while offering an ideal view of the water.

The aft cockpit encircled by loungers is very large. The skipper's cabin is hidden under the bench seat of the big table. Beneath the stairway, there is access to the day toilets without having to go through the interior of the boat

The Sunreef 88 DD hasn’t forgotten any of the rules of super-yachting. Attention to detail and refinement is everywhere on board, making life enjoyable

The cockpit interior offers a good view forward across the water. From here, you can handle the boat while staying warm during night watches.

The owner's cabin occupies the entire forward part of the coachroof and offers a 180° panoramic view. It has a large bench seat / bunk bed for when the children want to join their parents, and the bathroom is located in the hull. Superb!

The galley is professionally equipped and offers really impressive storage space. A wine cellar and large freezers find their place in the cargo hold under the floor

The guest cabins are just as beautiful

With their new 88  footer from the Double Deck range, Sunreef are unveiling an ultra-comfortable cruising catamaran built for an experienced boating family, and are confirming their ability to complete fully customized projects on the same timescale as production boats.

It took no more than 9 months for the Sunreef 88 DD, first announced at the 2016 Cannes boat show, to see its hulls hit the water in Gdansk, Poland.  Yet this is not just a well-honed semi-custom boat, but a brand new model in the range which is already known to connoisseurs and necessarily demanding owners. Having owned many of the best in English and Italian motor yachts, this family got into sailing with a beautiful 25 meter ketch.  The natural instability of a heeling monohull prompted them to ask Ian Sellers, their skipper, to think of another solution.  The choice of a sailing catamaran was a logical one: the space, stability, low draft, panoramic view and the economical running are irrefutable arguments for those who want XXL-sized comfort.

catamaran boat double decker

A good average speed to cross the Atlantic or to reach new anchorages in the Caribbean islands after a beautiful summer season in the Mediterranean also guided their choice.  It simply remained to find a shipyard capable of satisfying the wishes of the owner.  With a budget of more than 4 million euros, this owner was looking for a boat that was not just ultra-equipped and of the highest quality, but a unit that was entirely made ...

DISCOVER THE MODEL

Description.

The start of the ambitious Sunreef 88 Double Deck project was officially communicated during Sunreef Yachts’ press conference at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2016. After eight months of intensive work, the shipyard proudly announced the launch of this catamaran with a zealous, sporty look.

An experienced yachtsman switching from a massive motor yacht , the owner decided to commission the Sunreef 88 Double Deck to pursue a more stable navigation style with greater living space. Indeed, a challenging project for the shipyard’s engineering and design teams.

Nonetheless, this journey was destined to keep the promise of delivering a state-of-the art fully customized sailing catamaran from the start. To achieve the goal of building a seaworthy and dynamic catamaran, Sunreef Yachts’ team of naval architects conceived a completely new yacht design which seemed far sportier than the rest.

Same as all yachts within her range, the Sunreef 88 Double Deck too features a mezzanine level inside the saloon and a spacious master stateroom with a panoramic view in the bow part of the main deck. However, her superstructure was granted a more aerodynamic aspect. As a result, the 88-footer emphasis equally on both performance and luxury, offering over 300mÂČ of living space and an outstanding sailing experience.

Despite this, the Sunreef 88 Double Deck remains a family-friendly yacht offering the best of comfort and safety. The innovative composite superstructure of the sailing yacht conceals a smart and functional layout with luxurious accommodations for eight guests and up to five crew members.

Upon the owners’ request, the interior decor of the Sunreef 88 Double Deck features exclusive natural materials: Chambord oak, linen, leather, natural stone, and quartz tiles – all contribute to the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the sailing yacht . The feeling of warmth was also achieved through applying numerous orange accents to the interiors – an important color for the owner’s family who consider it to be a symbol of energy.

New Sunreef 92 Double Deck Sailing Catamaran

catamaran boat double decker

From the same people who brought you the original Sunreef Yacht, comes the new Sunreef 92 Double Deck , with a new design which not only streamlines the deck house, but tops it with a giant 40 m 2 fly bridge.

This was inspired by similar designs found on other super yacht designs. In collaboration with K-Epsilon and Rivoyre Ingenierie , The Sunreef Naval Architecture Bureau has intensely studied performance and sea capabilities using state of the art CFD, computational flow dynamics to create the ultimate in catamaran luxury.

Using integrated stepped hull chins, the Sunreef 92 Double Deck catamaran increases interior space, without compromising performance. Now this yacht can accommodate up to 10 guests, in up to 5 double luxury suites, as well as a crew of four.

Sunreef’s 92 Double Deck also features a canoe style boom and carbon mast, one of this manufacturer’s specialties. How are they able to accomplish such feats? They added a new mezzanine floor, which includes a coffee table and lounge, located on the port side of the main deck dining area, freeing up more space below for larger cabins and storage space, or even more suites if you prefer.

Because of this innovative design modification, now the owner’s suite occupies two floors of the entire front area of this yacht, with a private luxury office, gym and leisure area on the upper level, with the bathroom, wardrobe and storage area below deck. Each cabin has an extended size, three way access to their King sized beds, with spectacular panoramic sea views. Not only this, but each luxury suite comes with its own separate bath and shower area, large closets, storage lockers, as well as their own air conditioning and a comprehensive entertainment system.

With a LOA of 27 meters, an 11.2m beam, and a 1.6m draft, this super yacht has a 80 ton displacement. It will also be powered by two 405HP 1200 L/3170 Gal engines, and will be able to cruise at speeds up to 15 knots. The 70m 2 cockpit will also include a large dining area, sunbathing mattresses, and diving equipment. Its spacious fly bridge is fitted with a jacuzzi, two wet bars, barbecue, ice makers and even a pair of jet skis. It will also include a tender, hidden in a specially built locker under the main sun pad of the cockpit.

Even though this is only the second of such models, it isn’t hard to see why the Sunreef 92 Double Deck sailing catamaran is on it’s way to be one of the most sought after luxury yachts. With it’s innovative design, state of the art electronics, and focus on luxury, the Sunreef 92 Double Deck is top of the line, and a must for people who may still think they have it all. Don’t miss out on your own little piece of paradise.

A seafaring adventure on island routes double-decker catamaran cruise.

A seafaring adventure on Island Routes double-decker catamaran cruise

Embark on a luxury catamaran cruise adventure out of Ocho Rios, Jamaica that takes adventure to new heights.

Standing on the dock, I pause a moment to let my gaze travel slowly upwards at the gleaming catamaran floating before me. Rocking gently in the calm Caribbean Sea, the beautiful double-decker  Calipsoul  seems familiar yet exciting and new to me all at the same time. I had chosen Island Routes Catamaran Dunn’s River Cruise the last time I was in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. It had been the perfect combination of relaxation and excitement that I had been looking for. We had also done the romantic Lovers Rock evening cruise, literally sailing into the sunset together. Making the cruise reservation Both times it had turned out exactly as promised and this time around when I knew I was heading back to Jamaica, I reached out to the wonderfully helpful Island Routes team yet again. I spoke with them about how much I had enjoyed the last catamaran excursion I did with them and shared that this time I would be coming with a group of friends and family of all ages. I had enjoyed the snorkeling aspect of the Dunn’s River cruise so much but it had been fairly short and some of my group said they really wanted to let loose and relax.

Island Routes Reggae Family catamaran cruise They suggested the Island Routes Reggae Family catamaran cruise. They explained that it was like The Dunn’s River cruise minus the climbing, which my mom was happy to hear about, and a lot of time spent exploring the underwater world. Then they told me how great my timing was as they now have a brand new double-decker catamaran! To be honest, I couldn’t quite picture it so I didn’t know what to expect. Standing here, about to step onto the Calipsoul , I am filled with delight as the kids all leap aboard. We aren’t the only family on board that day and as my group is fairly large, coming over on the shuttle service from the Beaches all-inclusive family resort, I had been worried about feeling crowded. Yet, what we discover is the perfect blend of being able to find ample areas for ourselves while also having the opportunity to meet other people as equally excited as we are.

Snorkeling lesson Once in the water, we are directed by the crew, who have joined us, where to swim and, along the way, they make sure to point out coral formations and beautiful fish ensuring we have an amazingly immersive experience (pun intended). I explore for ages and I am very excited as I brought my waterproof camera with me this time and aim to meet my self-imposed challenge of taking an underwater selfie with tropical fish. Although unsuccessful because they move pretty quickly, I still have a blast. Suddenly, someone is tapping me on my shoulder and I pop my head up to see one of the crew members guiding me back to the boat. Making my way back I realize that, as strong a swimmer as I am, I’m pretty happy to have the life vest on as it allows me to keep looking underwater while I make my way back without having to put in too much effort in keeping myself headed in the right direction so all my focus is on the magical world below me. Trampoline for the kids, hammocks for the adults We climb aboard and the teenagers head to the trampoline area (I was told that’s what it’s called). For people who may not normally hang out on a boat, this area serves an engineering purpose but is also a pretty cool place to just hang out on as it’s like a flat stretched-out hammock where you can just lay out and chill. I divest myself of the fins, mask, and vest and realize I’m pretty hungry! Lunch on the ocean Luckily, the food comes out and everyone piles up their plates with tropical fruit, delicious wraps and chips, and salsa, and we head for a sunny spot on the upper deck of the catamaran. We start chatting with other people and decide it’s just about the right time for the rum version of that delicious fruit punch (after all we’re in Jamaica, how can we pass up the delicious rum when no one is driving or diving). My husband opts for a cold Red Stripe instead and leans back to work on his tan. Learning Jamaican dance moves We hear music and a lot of laughter below and realize the trampoline is empty. I decide to leave my husband happily tanning and I follow the music only to discover a full-blown dance class, as the crew is teaching everyone the latest Jamaican dancehall dance moves. Although I feel a little self-conscious when I join in, that quickly fades away as everyone tries their best to match the expertise of the crew. Over on the right, two little girls have their own crew member showing them what to do and they catch on quickly, delighted grins lighting up their faces. I manage to muddle through and I’m pretty sure my sister is going to show these videos to everyone once we get back home for an evening full of a similar level of laughter at my expense. In that moment though, I don’t care. I feel the salt from the sea drying on my skin, my hair is a tousled mess and I’m dancing with my children in the middle of the Caribbean Sea. This, I think, is what happiness is.

First Sunreef 88 double deck catamaran launched

The first hull in the Sunreef 88 range of double deck sailing catamarans has been launched in Gdansk for a European owner, the Polish yard has announced.

This fully personalised multihull superyacht measures 26.82 metres LOA and was styled inside and out by the in-house team at  Sunreef Yachts .

In a statement, the Polish yard added that the design of the Sunreef 88 is “a great display of the shipyard’s non-conformist attitude and a genuine example of an avant-garde sailing catamaran concept”.

Captain Ian Sellers added: "She is a beautifully crafted, fully customised transoceanic catamaran, with superb quality and finish."

The design brief was focussed on three key themes: luxury, performance and privacy. To this end, the Sunreef 88 features more than 300 square metres of living space — an impressive figure for a yacht of this size, proving that bigger isn't always better .

This two-deck sailing yacht will feature an extensive flybridge with a central helm station and plenty of al fresco dining and relaxation spaces. Back aft, the cockpit features a central dining table with seating space for ten guests as well as a second sunbed, making good use of the Sunreef 88's 11.2 metre beam.

The in-house design includes sporty and dynamic exterior lines, as well as a fully customised interior layout. Key features include a mezzanine level in the saloon and a main-deck owner's cabin , which boasts superb views out to sea through panoramic windows.

Auxiliary power comes from a pair of 425hp engines drawing on a total fuel capacity of 8,000 litres, while her total sailplan is in excess of 345 square metres.

Sunreef added that the designers drew inspiration for this single-masted sailing yacht from the 35 metre flagship yacht Che , which was launched in 2010. The Sunreef 88 is the sixth superyacht from the Polish yard, which has also created the Sunreef 102 yacht Ipharra .

Dek Kat Boats Logo

DEK KAT 2680

Dek kat 2680 model.

Meet the new standard in nearshore and offshore coastal high-performance catamaran deck boats. With it’s revolutionary twin tunnel hull design, the Dek Kat 2680 is changing the game for inshore fishing by providing a large, stable fishing platform without sacrificing creature comfort options for the family.

BETTER FEATURES

With ample in deck storage, minimal bow rise on acceleration coupled with a shallow water draft of approximately 12”, the Dek Kat is fast becoming an in-shore guide favorite. At 26’ 2” inches long with a beam of 8’6” there is no other bay boat on the market that comes close to her deck space. The twin tunnels provide a stable and comfortable ride even when the weather is not fully cooperative.

If live bait fishing is your game, the 2680 comes standard with two large in deck live/release wells with the option for additional live wells above deck in the forward seating or in our custom leaning post configuration.

MORE COMFORT

The Dek Kat 2680 is a semi-custom built boat which is just as comfortable on the bay waters chasing trout and redfish as it is at the sand bar with your family. Our oversized hard tops keep the family comfortable with the shade and you will find an abundance of seating throughout the boat, including our custom Adirondack style seat built into the console. Built for fishing and comfort cruising, the Dek Kat is truly one of the most versatile bay boat designs out there. It is ready for whatever your weekend desires are upon the water.

Savor Bonaire's breathtaking seascapes from the Sea Breeze double-decker power catamaran .

You'll stop at the famous pink salt flats and white mountains of salt. Your guide will explain the salt production process.

Offshore from the historical white slave huts, learn some Caribbean facts and discover why these centuries-old huts are built next to the sea.

The catamaran approaches the uninhabited island of Klein Bonaire by way of the famous Bonaire Marine Park . Its protected reef makes it a divers' paradise. From up close, you will see Bonaire's most attractive white-sand beach. Its name, of course, is No-Name Beach.

Follow the coastline for exceptional panoramic views, and don't forget to look down into the crystal-clear turquoise water. Oceanfront hotels and restaurants and beautiful Dutch Caribbean mansions line the way back to the port.

Maximum age is 70 years. Maximum height is 6'6". Maximum weight is 330 lbs. Guests who are more than five months pregnant or have a heart condition, asthma, or leg or chest injuries and/or recent surgery are not allowed to participate. Not advisable for guests with mobility limitations.

Some of the best decking materials include:

  • Wood: Cedar, redwood, and tropical hardwoods offer a classic look but require regular maintenance.
  • Pressure-Treated Lumber: Affordable pine that resists rot and insects but may need staining.
  • Composite Decking: Low-maintenance blend of wood fibers and recycled plastic, available in various colors.
  • PVC Decking: Synthetic option resistant to stains, scratches, and fading, but can be pricey.
  • Aluminum Decking: Lightweight, durable, rust-resistant, suitable for water areas, but more expensive.
  • Vinyl Decking: Low-maintenance, moisture, and rot-resistant, but quality varies.

It’s better to build a patio when:

  • Privacy is a priority: Patio provides a sense of privacy, especially when enclosed.
  • Budget and low maintenance are the priority: Patios are generally more cost-effective to build and require less maintenance.
  • The ground is flat: For even ground, constructing a patio is easier and more straightforward.

It’s better to build a deck when:

  • Scenic views are desired: Decks offer better views.
  • You are fine with obtaining building permits and inspections: Decks typically require permits and inspections due to their structural impact on the home.
  • The ground is uneven: If your backyard has slopes or uneven terrain, a deck can provide a stable and level outdoor space.
