OSPREY is a fine example of a very hard-to-come-by 2016 Hunt Harrier 26 powered with the optional Yamaha 300hp outboard motor with only 215 hours. Lift-kept with custom sun covers, she shows beautifully with her Stars & Stripes blue hull, Oyster White boot stripe and black bottom. In 2018 the Yamaha outboard motor was painted to match the gelcoat and a faux teak transom was applied, nice custom touches done by the Hinckley Company. Properly maintained and serviced (full outboard motor service, with computer check and compression test, March 2022) make OSPREY a true ‘turn key’ offering. This is a great opportunity to acquire a nearly-new Hunt Harrier 26 in time for Spring!

Drone flying toward Moscow downed in Elektrostal

MOSCOW, November 19. A drone flying to Moscow has been downed by air defense systems in Elektrostal in the Moscow Region, no one was hurt, Moscow’s Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said on Sunday.

"In the Elektrostal municipal district, air defense forces repelled an attack by a drone, which was flying toward Moscow. According to preliminary data, its fragments fell down incurring no damage. No one was hurt," he wrote on his Telegram channel .

According to the Moscow mayor, emergencies services are working on the site.

Food Network-favorite Keewaydin Island burger joint has new captain: Here's what to know

Why did Lori Dean sell her Food Network-famous boat Just Beachy Burgers on Keewaydin Island?

“We had a 10-year plan,” said Lori Dean.

Not included in that was Brad “Baggy” Homuth, Dean’s partner in life and business, dying last May.

The couple started their business adventure in April 2014.

“It's time to pass it on to somebody younger who can handle the lengthy days,” she said.

How long are those days?

It's easily 12 hours, and she starts at 7 a.m. loading food, ice and gasoline onto a truck. Then it’s off to the boat, unloading the truck’s contents and organizing for the day.

Weather and tides permitting, the boat lands at Keewaydin around 10 a.m. to cook and serve its famous burgers, hot dogs and more.

For the past seven years, Dean’s been keeping track of how many items she's sold. Her tally through March 14:

• 57,926 cheeseburgers
• 31,515 hot dogs
• 26,112 orders of fries
• 16,387 grouper sandwiches and tacos
• 14,298 Boom Boom shrimp

Food Network feature

In 2018, Food Network put Just Beachy Burgers on the national map in a special food boats show featuring America’s best “floating eateries.”

Host Jordan Andino and his production crew taped for two days. It sparked Dean’s signature “Island Burger” because each competing boat selected by Food Network featured different types of food and was required to personalize a dish corresponding to the theme of the boat.

More recently, Just Beachy Burgers won five 2023 Taste of Collier “best of” accolades in categories spanning burger, view, food truck, lunch spot and waterfront dining.

The boat also made NDN's "best burgers of 2023" list, noting how three cheeseburger  varieties are stacked high and served hot-to-the-touch off the grill. Donning my JLB hat, I said, "Even though everything tastes better at the beach, I’d eat this one anywhere."

What she'll miss most

“That day-to-day interaction with our customers, whether they're locals or those returning every year. Sometimes, they're new to the boat, and we always enjoy talking to them, finding out where they’re from, and knowing how long they are staying.”

The boat is also active in the community. Just Beachy Burgers supplied food for CCSO’s Keewaydin Island cleanups.

After Hurricane Ian hit Isles of Capri, Dean and Homuth fed its residents. In Immokalee, Dean and Homuth gathered a crew of 11 friends to feed 700 residents in four hours.

What she won't miss?

The grueling hard work, especially the truck-to-boat loading, lifting and moving of 16 7-lb. bags of ice, 15 gallons of gas for every trip, and the provisions to prepare for hungry customers.

“It's a lot of bending. As the fries are depleted through the day, you're bending further into the freezer to get more.”

What's next?

With his father Alex, Maykol Guzman is the boat's new owner-operator and captain. Just Beachy Boat’s regulars already know Maykol, who’s done the hefty lifting since Homuth’s passing and has worked every station on the boat during the past five years. Dean rests assured of his first-hand expertise in maintaining the boat’s high-quality food and hospitality standards.

As for Dean?

She still owns and operates Keewaydin Island Local Water Shuttle , a concierge-like business that provides roundtrip transportation to the island, beach chairs, towels, coolers and sun-blocking umbrellas.

After a rough 2023, she’s also looking forward to time for “laying back and enjoying life.”

Sail Area / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.
