The 80 Motor Yacht Sky Lounge's innovative enclosed bridge design provides the panoramic view of a sky lounge, along with an additional 252 square feet of accommodations. On the main deck, the Sky Lounge edition features an enlarged salon, additional sofas and club chairs, along with a unique country kitchen forward. Taking the place of the pilothouse area is a large country kitchen. The galley is equipped with granite countertops, dishwasher and trash compactor, as well as a microwave convection oven. Forward of the galley is a dinette with granite table and wraparound seating. Access to the side decks is still in place with port and starboard pantograph doors, and to starboard you'll find easy access to the electrical panels and a pantry. A beautifully decorated day head lies aft. And for entertaining, an optional 20-inch LCD is available in the galley. By relocating the galley forward, the salon now provides 377 square feet of space. Forward of the custom dining table is a hutch with wet bar, ice maker and glass storage. The 42-inch plasma TV is relocated to the forward bulkhead, and additional buffet and china storage expand the already spacious dining area. A quick walk up the circular staircase leads to the Sky Lounge, where the captain will find excellent visibility through two large window panels with padded mullions. The helm features Hatteras' computer-based systems monitor, which uses touch-screen technology to monitor all ship's systems, including real-time performance data, tank levels, visual and audible alarms, and data logs that provide trending information for engine diagnostics. The 80 also includes a generous electronics allowance, single-lever electronic controls with emergency backups, and twin helm chairs. Owner and guests will cruise in unmatched comfort in the twin elevated lounges. Portside of the helm station is a desk with drawers and large chart flat, along with a wet bar, icemaker, refrigerator, and pop-up plasma TV. The port aft window is electrically actuated, providing fresh air and increased entertainment space. Exit through the sliding door onto the bridge deck, where you'll find plenty of seating and storage, thanks to an aft-facing riding seat and U-shaped lounge. The starboard locker contains twin Gaggenau electric grills. And a 1500-pound hydraulic davit will easily handle your choice of tenders.

The 2008 Hatteras PIRATE RADIO blends elegance and comfort seamlessly for an unforgettable cruising experience. As you step aboard PIRATE RADIO, you'll be greeted by the spacious aft deck. With teak finish and a built-in seating area with a dining table that accommodates eight, guests will enjoy delightful alfresco dining.

Stepping inside through electronic doors, the main salon beckons with a sunken bar featuring a black Galaxy countertop, providing an excellent space for enjoying a cocktail as guests lounge in her main salon seating area. There is a custom cabinet for a 50” Plasma TV for entertainment. The large sofa and club chair offer relaxation and a wine cooler ensures drinks are perfectly chilled. A formal dining table is forward, with additional storage and a day head nearby. Recently refitted in 2022, the yacht boasts a refreshed interior that showcases a classic American style with cherry wood throughout. The light-blue and white décor elements and furniture create a welcoming, coastal ambiance.

Heading further forward, you'll find the beautifully remodeled galley with brand-new flooring and a generous island. This area is extremely spacious and can be used to prepare all kinds of meals while onboard. Large windows provide stunning 180-degree views, and stairs lead to the enclosed flybridge.

Accommodations on PIRATE RADIO are designed to accommodate up to eight guests in four cabins. The full-beam master, located on the lower deck amidship, offers a king bed, his and hers closets, a safe and a his and hers en-suite with a pass-through shower. Granite countertops and Onyx Alabaster accents add a touch of luxury. The VIP stateroom, situated in the bow, features a queen-tapered berth and an en-suite with granite countertops. Natural light streams in through the skylight above. The starboard guest stateroom has twin crisscross berths and an en-suite with granite countertops and a stall shower. The port guest stateroom boasts a queen berth, an en-suite with a bathtub and sliding door and Arco Iris granite countertops and flooring. Crew accommodations for up to four are accessed through the transom.

The raised pilothouse and skylounge can be accessed from the main deck by either a staircase in the galley or from the aft deck. Here, you will find more space for relaxation or entertainment. A large sofa, comfortable chair and semi-circular-shaped settee provide ample seating for enjoying the journey. A built-in bar with a sink, refrigerator, and icemaker keeps refreshments close at hand. There is a pass-through window that extends the living space to the sun deck aft. The pilothouse offers excellent visibility with two Stidd chairs for driving.

The exterior styling of PIRATE RADIO is modern and sleek, complementing her overall design. The sun deck aft is perfect for relaxation, with a large, uncovered U-shaped table and a built-in bench. A 1500lb davit can accommodate a tender or toys, and two built-in grills are located to starboard beneath the overhang. PIRATE RADIO is the ultimate choice for those seeking a yacht that combines comfort, modern amenities and a feeling of home on the water.

PIRATE RADIO Yacht for Sale

The 105-foot (32m) motor yacht PIRATE RADIO is a world-cruising motor yacht with excellent exterior spaces, including large Jacuzzi and outdoor bar area on the flybridge aft deck.

PIRATE RADIO is a truly remarkable vessel designed by the renowned naval architect Jon Bannenberg and built in the U.S. by Poole Chaffe.

She has undergone numerous refits over the years, including a two-year period from 1998 to 2000 where the yacht was rebuilt with a completely new superstructure, bow design, and extension to the transom for a unique tender elevator and two garages for water toys and storage use. Additionally, many of her main systems were completely updated, including new CAT engines, generators, wiring, plumbing, propellers, navigation electronics, ceilings and fixtures.

PIRATE RADIO’s interior offers a contemporary style and is well suited for any type of guest. She welcomes eight guests in four spacious staterooms, including a full-beam master stateroom with king size bed and en-suite bath, as well as a VIP bow cabin with queen-size bed and updated, en-suite bath with glass shower. She also features two additional queen cabins with separate updated baths.

PIRATE RADIO’s main deck aft offers spacious outdoor dining, and her flybridge aft deck has an oversized sunpad, large Jacuzzi, sun sails for shade and a large bar area. Her bow features a massive sunpad for catching rays and her upper deck area features a driving station and additional seating area.

Set Up and Sail

The V11 detailing is simple but effective. In conjunction with the V11 Set Up Guide, assembly is straight forward, and vital tuning information assists you to quickly understand and master your V11's potential

Vickers RC Sailing build processes are well refined and thought out.

Our boats are light, stiff and clever,  keeping to a simple and effective philosophy around detailing

The V11 design is a hull, foils and bulb package to compliment the full range of conditions experienced in RC Sailing. The hull design has full volume forward and features the familiar chines and tumblehome of the modern IOM for reduced weight and windage, as well as good tracking characteristics. The V11 features our peaked style foredeck for efficient water shedding when buried downwind and a geometrically strong shape for the forestay and mast ram areas.

Foils are slippery and strategically positioned with the rig to balance the yacht. The V11s forgiving balance through the wind range, allows the skipper to focus on the race at hand, and not rely on micro steering to maintain a consistent VMG.

The rig sits solid on its deck stepped mast step, complimented at deck level with an encapsulating mast gate arrangement over the mast ram. The rudder tube is rigidly supported inside the moulded servo tray. 

Hull construction is from E-Glass Fibreglass Cloth and High Grade Epoxy Resin.

The foils are Carbon Fibre Layup with High Grade Epoxy Resin.

Paint system is a 2 pot Urethane and the boat is thoroughly post cured before finishing.

After the success of the original Cheinz design in 2011, Mirage Radio Yachts has recently released the new Cheinz 2.

Mirage Radio Yachts, the IOM ‘Cheinz 2’ is a modification of the original Cheinz that was launched for the IOM Worlds in West Kirby in 2011, a design that performed incredibly well at the championship having been sailed only twice before the event, and never with the small rigs.

Differences between the two designs is that he has reduced the sheerline to take away the bulk of the original and reduce windage. The Cheinz 2 has a new fin and rudder with reduced drag. The winch is now under the deck in a new 3D produced mount under a new deck hatch, this has resulted in a centralizing of the weight at the pitching moment. A beneficial result. This has led to there being no need for a deck opening on the foredeck.

The original Cheinz was one of the most popular designs in Australia in the years after its launch and demand for the new Cheinz 2 is strong with five boats already built with the first headed to a new owner in Perth while others will head overseas to the USA, New Zealand & China.

Mirage now offers a number of IOM designs alongside the Cheinz 2 which include the popular Panda (pictured below) which made its debut in China last year and the Nitro design which was recently first & second at the 2019 Nordic Championships sailed by Soren Andresen & Torvald Klem.

Decided to design a new boat based on ideas I had that incorporated in some of the past designs but also took a slightly different tack.

What has evolved is a design that I think will be something that will suit all conditions but also at its peak in A rig, which in most areas is the rig used most of the time.

Slightly fuller in the bow with rounded sections and the stern is also a bit wider.

It's initiation was in the CCOR regatta in China last month. Soeren Andresen (Den), and myself attended along with Zyvonko Jelicich , Graham Bantock and skippers from Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore, as well as the local contingent. Unfortunately the Japanese skippers plans got skuppered by a typhoon, so they could not attend.

With our two boat in parts when I arrived, and working into the night we got Soeren's A and B rig finished and my A rig.

Both boats launched for the first race and they performed well and showed promise. This was later displayed when on the last day Soeren was the leading points scorer. He showed improvement each day. Final result was Soeren in 3rd place and myself in 7th.

The two boats were sold to local skippers after the event and should be the forerunners of a fleet of Panda's in China.

Orders are now being taken for the Panda.

• 2018 Norwegian IOM Championships;  Nitro's 1st, 2nd, and 3rd!.   Winner was Soeren Andresen (Den), followed by Torvald Klem and Odd  Ornulf Stray from Norway. Great result for The Mirage Radio Yachts Nitro design.
• Tasmanian State Event;  Mirage Radio Yachts woodie designs 1st and 3rd.  1st Jeff Byerley, Idiom  3rd Chris Woods, Corbie 5
• Great result against good production glass boats.
• Nitro IOM design finish 1st,2nd, and 6th in the just completed Swedish IOM Championships. Well done to Soren Andresen,Odd Ornulf Stray, and Torvald Klem. .

Recent News

• Plans are now available for the Corbie 5 . A "woodie" IOM for those who like to do their own thing. A set of full size stations printed on two sheets of A4 paper are included in the kit along with a very extensive manual which includes building instructions and tips, a tuning section, and maintenance hints. Also includes a list of suppliers. This manual was as a result of the work of Ian Dundas in the UK who has been a great help in this project. The cost of the kit is $115.00AUD. Laser cut stations can be purchased from a company called SLEC in the UKat an additional cost. This does save a lot of work and is more precise when setting up the building platform. Build queue Deposit Policy

To be placed into the CPM Build Queue a min deposit of $100 is required. Once constructions starts a further deposit of 50% is required. With the balance due once constructions is complete. Due to the custom nature of building fiberglass hulls and components this deposit are NON refundable.

We are a friendly and welcoming club where new and seasoned sailors are always made to feel at home, so why not come and join in the fun. To get you going we can lend you a boat and show you the basics. We even have a special deal, with low cost membership for your first year so you get to give it a real good try before you decide. Within the club there are usually some used boats for sale, should you wish to get a bit more involved in this fascinating and absorbing hobby.

We are the premier mid-Essex club for racing radio controlled International One Metre (IOM) model yachts, racing on Sundays and Tuesdays at a lake in Heybridge near Maldon in Essex. The race meetings run from 10-00 AM until 1-00 PM, with well earned coffee break mid morning.

The Joysway DragonFlite 95 V2 is a new 950mm Sailboat that delivers a truly "Race Ready" high performance sailing experience. 

Every aspect of the DragonFlite 95 V2 has been developed with very latest radio sailing  design concepts ,  construction , and  components  for a first-class radio sailing experience, right out of the box! --- at a fraction of the price of other models in the 1-meter class.

Everything needed to sail is included in the kit, all you need to do is add AA batteries and go sail!  

The DragonFlite 95 V2 uses cutting edge components not found in other manufactured RC Yacht models including: 

• Ultra-rigid Carbon fiber keel fin, advanced design keel bulb 
• Shroud less, keel step, one-piece carbon fiber mast 
• Durable Mylar Sails with all the necessary re-enforcements
• New Upgraded High Torque Sail Servo  for more refined control
• New Boat Stand Laydown Kit  to substantially reduce risk of high winds blowing over your boat                                                        

The DragonFlite 95 V2 is a yacht designed to be a convenient size, on and off the water. It’s light weight and long, narrow hull is designed to cut through the water with minimal drag; and give it the kind of light wind performance most other radio yachts can only dream of. The downside of this lightweight design approach would normally be an inability to perform in strong winds. The DragonFlite 95 has countered this by designing low aspect, lightweight rigs with careful sail plan development that underwent rigorous performance and functionality testing, to ensure perfect handling and balance. Even when the boat is overpowered it still remains easily controllable to windward and always has astonishing speed downwind with almost no tendency to ‘nosedive’. The unusual “kick” in the main boom is designed to prevent dragging in the water at extreme lean angles.

The DragonFlite 95 V2 is an officially recognized class by the  American Model Yachting Association , the national governing body for  US Sailing .

I sailed a 22’ Venture many years ago as a novice and decided to give RC a try. The DF95 was the first to show up in my search and am I glad! Mostly excellent assembly instructions except for one or two skipped steps in the documentation. First time out she handled beautifully with zero problems! I’ve even purchased a second one for the winter home. Highly recommended!

I’ve sailed full sized boats before but this was my first try at RC, it was a breeze! This seems to be a well designed and carefully thought out product. There was an error/omission of a step(s) in the instructions but otherwise they were well done and one small eyelet ring was missing from the parts. I can highly recommend this boat, even for newbies!

Excellent. The product arrived in less than a week, perfectly packaged. The instructions and photographs were very clear and complete and the assembly/rigging went very well. Not "easy" but doable with care and patience. She then had her maiden voyage in the community pool and worked extremely well. I am very happy with the product and the final result. Now off to the races.

Electric RC Boats

Electric RC boats use two types of electric motors – brushed and brushless. (You can learn more about the difference between brushed and brushless motors here). Electric RC boats are easier to get up and running and they are quieter and cleaner than gas RC boats. Electric boats come in a larger variety of sizes and hobby skill levels, whereas gas-powered RC boats tend to be used by intermediate or expert hobbyists.

Gas RC Boats

Gas-powered RC boats are typically larger due to the engine size, and offer increased realism, including smoke and noise of a gas-powered engine. Gas-powered RC boat engines do require some mechanical skills for engine tuning and maintenance but are typically faster and more water-resistant than brushed and brushless electric motors if well-tuned.

RC Sailboats

Remote controlled sailboats use the natural wind for movement and the user controls the boats steering and positioning of sails with a radio transmitter. RC sailboats come in a wide variety of options, including electric motors, which can be valuable when the wind dies down or better maneuverability back to shore.
