History of Solaris

Established in 1974, Solaris Yachts, a world-renowned boat manufacturer, began operations in Aquileia, an historical town of the Roman Empire, in the North East of Italy. Sergio Lombardi, the founder, envisioned the company to be a vanguard in building ocean-going yachts designed to handle serious offshore sailing in supreme comfort and safety. Guided by courage, competence, commitment and an unyielding desire for excellence, Lombardi steered the firm into the limelight of international boat building.

From the onset, Solaris Yachts exhibited an exceptional craftsmanship that stood out in the industry. It honed its expertise in building high-performance custom yachts, maintaining stringent quality control to ensure that each vessel was practical, safe, and aesthetically enchanting. Interestingly, one of the company's unique building methodologies is the infusion moulding system, which gives its yachts long-lasting rigidity and strength.

Despite significant expansion and evolution over the years, Solaris Yachts continues to base its operations in Aquileia today. Solaris 55

A fast, modern performance cruiser and a reliable and seaworthy cruising yacht. Elegant contemporary, Italian design and a gem of traditional boatbuilder's craftmanship. The Solaris 55 is all of these, and like all Solaris sailing yachts, this model is an extremely rigid unit. The 40 mm composite main bulkhead, a solid structure of individually laminated beams and stringers vacuum laminated to the hull, and composite chainplates are just some of the technical features that make the Solaris 55 a stiff, monolithic construction. Efficient appendixes, a powerful rig and a modern wedge-shaped hull with slim forward section and wide stern with chines provide performance and fun on the water. Clever deck layout with plenty of cockpit space and free passage to sundeck and the large fold-out swim platform. Below decks, an immaculately finished interior with lots of solid wood in the frames, mouldings and profiles creates a warm, cosy atmosphere, yet the uncluttered, spacious and modern layout combined with the large hull windows and numerous deck hatches provide light and space.

This Solaris 55 is a fully equipped private yacht offered by her first owner. Very sporty configuration with HALL-Spars carbon fibre rig, exclusive sail wardrobe by DOYLE/Raudaschl and high-quality HARKEN deck gear. 3-cabin layout with teak interior, side bed in the owner's cabin and single berths in starboard aft cabin. Complete technical specification incl. retractable bow and stern thruster, diesel generator, inverters, lithium battery bank, air conditioning, watermaker, large solar panels on coachhouse roof, washing machine and extensive B&G navigation incl. The Solaris 55 stands as the culmination of Solaris Yachts ‘ 50-year legacy. Once again, Solaris has collaborated with naval architect Javier Soto Acebal for the design, complemented by Adi Design ‘s contribution to the interior aesthetics. Solaris’s dedicated team has meticulously overseen the structural, systemic, and technical aspects of the boat.

Every aspect of the Solaris 55 has been meticulously analyzed and strategically placed to optimize its performance. With an overall length of 16.90 meters and a beam of 5.00 meters, the Solaris 55 integrates top-tier components from leading brands to ensure reliability and functionality.

The hydrodynamic design of the hull features a modern profile, promoting longitudinal trim for enhanced performance. The deck layout combines cleanliness with functionality, featuring an expansive cockpit with full-width steering wheels for improved visibility and maneuverability. Noteworthy features include two cockpit tables with innovative windows to maximize natural light within the cabins and saloon, as well as an opening transom for convenient dinghy storage and molded steps for easy access to the bathing platform.

The model’s structure underscores Solaris’s commitment to safety and comfort, with a configuration that integrates three composite main bulkheads bonded to the hull and deck, complemented by a lead bulb and cast iron keel.

Below deck, the Solaris 55 offers a spacious and symmetrical layout, with a forward owner’s suite available in two configurations, each with an ensuite bathroom featuring a large shower. The saloon provides a luminous and balanced space, customizable with either a sofa or two large armchairs. The L-shaped galley, located portside, offers flexibility for personalization and is equipped with modern amenities.

The two aft cabins each feature a private bathroom with a separate shower, while the sail locker can be converted into a crew cabin with an integrated bathroom.

Revolutionary when she first launched in 2015, the Solaris 50 was the start of a new era for Solaris Yachts and a first step into a revolutionary new design which can now been seen throughout their whole fleet of models. As with her modern sisters, she was carefully thought through under the watchful eye of Javier Soto Acebal – bringing together his South American flare and classic Italian style. She of course retains that true Solaris DNA with excellent sea keeping qualities, performance and ease of handling.

With over 60 Solaris 50s sold since her introduction, it was a tall request for Javier Soto Acebal to improve on this popular size with additional refinements. He has delivered however with the ‘new’ Solaris 50, launched April 2022. Even more sparkling performance that is easily manageable, with increased stability, and a clean uncluttered striking style. The integral transom tender garage and improved layout down below takes this new 50 to an unbelievable next level of design.

Below decks, once again they show fantastic innovation with a variety of layout options allowing a production yacht to be customised to suit your needs. In addition, a choice of interior finishes to meet your style whether that be a modern light oak or more traditional teak.

On deck, everything is kept simple with four winches in the cockpit positioned ergonomically just forward of the twin helms. As with all the fleet, she has a self-tacking jib and optional fixed bowsprit to make easy use of a gennaker or code 0. At the transom is a wide hydraulically operated door allowing for easy dinghy deployment and ample swim platform.

A thrill to sail on, she glides along with ease in light airs. Winner of the ‘Performance Cruiser of the Year’ at the European Yachting Awards in 2015, in her old iteration – her success has continued since her first launch.

Solaris Yachts continues to evolve and reinvent itself: we are excited to introduce our new Solaris 50’.

Following the success of the Solaris 48’ and 50’ over the years, we started designing new waterlines. This project led to the creation of a new Solaris 50’ with an LOA of 15,50m and beam of 4,78m.

The result of the innovative waterlines is the extension of the aft sections. This solution allows the use of the twin rudder blades. Also, we succeeded in designing a tender garage with longitudinal access, a unique solution on yachts of this size. This improvement simplifies the use of the dinghy, that is secured in its own watertight garage.

On deck, a broad cockpit, already tested on the Solaris 40’ and Solaris 60’, guarantees freedom of movement.

The wider cockpit of the new Solaris 50’ can accommodate one or two cockpit tables.

Among the exceptional advantages of this boat, it’s worth noting the full width steering wheels that improve visibility, even while using the sprayhood. Thanks to the steps forward the steering area, the water slips away from the side decks, creating a safe environment and allowing very comfortable navigation. The original steps also simplify movement on the deck.

Special attention has also been given to the interior details, in particular to the finishing of the saloon and the owners cabin: the collaboration with Poltrona FRAU, the prestigious leather manufacturers since 1912, enable you to customise the interior of your Solaris according on your needs and personal taste.
