The Largest Superyachts in Monaco for the 2022 Grand Prix

By Emily Dawkins

The Monaco Grand Prix is often recognised as one of the most iconic events in the summer calendar; not only for the fans of Formula One and motorsports, but also for the luxurious world of superyachts.

Marking the unofficial start of the yachting charter season, the prominent motorsport event offers the perfect opportunity for the UHNW elite to revel in all things luxury. From a-list events, dazzling car displays and lavish boutiques, the Grand Prix in Monaco has it all.

Not just offering the perfect high-class experience inland, the waters of Monaco present an incredible location to watch the GP races unfold. The legendary Port Hercule provides numerous berths with stern-to-track mooring, allowing those on yachts to watch the action unfold from the comfort of their lounges onboard.

With only one day remaining until the start of the 2022 Monaco GP, we take a look at the largest yachts that have been spotted in Monaco, either berthed in Port Hercule or deeper in the Monégasque bay.

96.6m FAITH

Delivered by Feadship in 2017, 96.6m FAITH is a magnificent example of the meticulous craftsmanship of the Dutch yard. Across five vast decks, FAITH offers numerous indoor and outdoor entertaining and lounge areas: an idyllic spot to watch the races from the water. With exceptional onboard features including a glass-bottomed swimming pool and large beach club, FAITH also provides an excellent retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the GP. Currently listed for charter with Burgess , it is no surprise that this breathtaking superyacht is berthed in Port Hercule.

92.4m TATOOSH

Two legends meet: Nobiskrug’s 92.4m TATOOSH has been spotted in the waters of Monaco. Delivered in 2000 by the German yard, the white superstructure of TATOOSH is recognisable around the world. Featuring several versatile exterior spaces and an array of onboard amenities including a jacuzzi, pool, and a floor that rises to become a dancefloor, TATOOSH fits in perfectly with Monaco’s opulence. Joining the brokerage market in 2021, the 92.4m motor yacht is listed for sale with Burgess .

91.5m QUEEN MIRI

91.5m QUEEN MIRI is the largest yacht to be delivered by Greek shipyard Neorion. Abundant in space, both inside and out, alongside numerous sublime features including a children’s playroom, beauty salon and conference facilities, QUEEN MIRI presents the ultimate yacht for optimal work/life balance. Spotted moored in Port Hercule’s Quai Rainier III, QUEEN MIRI is currently believed to be privately owned.

90m LIONHEART

Launched by Benetti in 2016, 90m LIONHEART remains in her home berth of Port Hercule for the Monaco GP this year. Often spotted cruising the nearby Mediterranean waters, little has been revealed about LIONHEART since her launch, but with an array of comfortable outdoor areas the 90m would undoubtedly offer an exemplary location for watching the GP. She is currently berthed at the end of Quai Rainier Ier.

88.5m CLOUD 9

Moored at Monaco’s deep water anchorage is Oceanco’s 88.5m CLOUD 9. Previously named INFINITY,  the 88.5m was delivered in 2015 by the Dutch shipyard, and was sold by Burgess earlier this year. As one of the largest sales of 2022 so far, CLOUD 9’s appearance in Monaco is the first time she has been seen since her name change. She is now available for charter with Burgess for the first time since her delivery.

Other large superyachts that have been spotted in Port Hercule and Monaco's surrounding waters include:

87.78m FOUNTAINHEAD

86m MAN OF STEEL for charter with Ocean Independence

82.5m SECRET for sale and charter with  Burgess

81.2m GRACE

74.5m LADY E for charter with Burgess

73m CORAL OCEAN

109m BRAVO EUGENIA was recently spotted in Monaco but has since moved to the nearby Port Vauban Antibes, where 91.5m TRANQUILLITY and 97.2m CARINTHIA VII are also berthed.

With the action set to kick off tomorrow with the first F1 free practice sessions, we can’t wait to see what the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix will hold, and what other superyachts will make an appearance in Port Hercule.

Daniel Ricciardo waves from a yacht with an inset of the Secret.

Ah, Monaco – a billionaires’ playground, and host to one of the most thrilling races on the F1 calendar, the Monaco Grand Prix.

With the city-state being right by the water, many wealthy folks opt to watch the race not from the grandstands but from their yacht .

And the average person can too as one-day rentals are available for as little as a few hundred dollars.

Yachts moored in Monaco, where the Grand Prix will be held this weekend.

But we’re dreaming of watching it from one of the bad boys that made this list.

These are the six biggest yachts attending the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix – all 80 meters (262 feet) and above!

By the way, make sure you don’t miss a race by checking our 2022 Formula 1 calendar .

6. Grace – 81m (265.7ft)

The Grace will be at this weekend's Monaco Grand Prix.

Originally called Kibo , the yacht was sold in 2018 to businessman John Reece and renamed Grace in 2018.

Built in 2014 by Abeking & Rasmussen, the yacht is a regular in the waters of Monaco.

There’s plenty of room on her tiered decks to watch the F1 cars lapping Monaco’s streets all weekend.

When the racing is done, there are plenty of amenities to enjoy as well, with the yacht hosting a beach club, grand piano and even an elevator.

Another living area on the Kibo, which has been renamed the Grace.

5. Secret – 82m (269ft)

Secret, an 82m superyacht, will make an appearance at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Another Abeking & Rasmussen build, Secret stands out even on the waters of Monaco with her Sam Sorgiovanni-styled exterior.

It even has its own elevator for nice added touch of luxury.

There are sure to be plenty of eyes on Secret as the yacht is currently for sale as well.

Offered through Burgess Yachts , she could be yours for $84.4 million.

A living space onboard the Secret.

4. Man of Steel – 86m (282.1ft)

The pool deck of the Man of Steel.

Man of Steel made headlines last year as the second-most expensive yacht sale in 2021, changing hands for a whopping $150 million.

Previously, she was called Seven Seas and belonged to none other than film director Steven Spielberg.

A bathroom on the Man of Steel, which will be at the Monaco Grand Prix.

The 2022 Monaco Grand Prix is the first major event she will appear at following the sale.

She’ll be moored right in the heart of Port Hercules, where her new owner, steel baron Barry Zekelman, can soak up the action from her lower swimming pool or upper deck jacuzzi.

3. Cloud 9 – 89m (292ft)

Superyacht Cloud 9 out on the water.

Another recent sale, Cloud 9 changed hands just earlier this year, making the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix her first event after renaming as well.

Originally called Infinity , the sale price was withheld.

A bathroom onboard Cloud 9.

However, Cloud 9 is available to charter for a cool $1.2 million A WEEK!

With an onboard pool and plenty of lounging areas on her multiple decks, there’s plenty of space to watch the F1 from.

2. Lionheart – 90m (295.3ft)

Lionheart in the waters of Monaco. It will be docked for the Grand Prix.

The flagship from Italian builder Benetti, Lionheart is a regular in the waters of Monaco, with her home base in Port Hercules.

Spending most of the time cruising the French and Italian rivieras, she’s currently sat at the end of Quai Rainier.

Owned by Topshop owner Sir Philip Green, Lionheart is worth an estimated $150 million.

1. Tatoosh – 92m (301.8ft)

Superyacht Tatoosh in La Rochelle, France. It will be at the Monaco Grand Prix.

The biggest yacht that will be at the 2022 Monaco Grand Prix, Tatoosh is currently listed for sale for $96.7 million.

The only 300-footer on this list, she was finished in 2000 by German shipyard Nobiskrug.

Curiously, Tatoosh features bulletproof windows, along with a waterfront diving platform and a swimming pool of course.

Unquestionably, this will be the most imposing and one of the most recognisable yachts attending the Monaco F1 Grand Prix.

Whilst attending the Monaco Grand Prix last weekend Yacht Informer took the opportunity to see some of the fantastic super yachts that were also there.

The Monaco Grand Prix took place on May 28, 2023. It is one of the most prestigious sporting events in the world. Held annually in the Principality of Monaco, the race is a major tourist attraction, drawing millions of spectators from around the globe.

largest yacht at monaco grand prix

The event attracts a massive A-List of who’s who of celebrities, athletes, and high-profile business leaders who could easily afford a luxury super yacht or two! You may be able to spot a few celebrities enjoying some of the most popular beaches in Monaco, such as Larvotto Beach, known for its fine sand and clear waters, or Plage du Rocher – a smaller beach located in the heart of Monaco. If you want to increase your chances of spotting a celebrity, these are the beaches you should head to!

However, while Formula One motor racing is the main attraction, the super yachts that line the harbour are also a significant draw for race visitors and fans of exquisite luxury and wealth.

Yacht Informer was on hand at the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix, and we were utterly blown away by the sheer number and size of the luxury yachts that were moored in the harbour this year. From sleek superyachts and classic sailing boats to luxury powerboats, there was something for everyone to gasp at and admire.

Yacht spotting in Port Hercules

The harbour area in Monaco where super yachts can moor is called Port Hercules. It is located in the heart of the city, just a short stroll from all the major attractions, and it is home to some of the most expensive and exclusive luxury yachts in the world.

The port is also a popular tourist destination in its own right, and it offers stunning views of the city and the Mediterranean Sea. The port was built in the early 1920s and has been expanded several times since then.

The port can accommodate yachts of up to 150 meters in length and has a total of 1,600 berths. The port is also home to several yacht clubs and a popular destination for yacht races and regattas. It is a beautiful and impressive sight and a great place to see some of the most expensive and exclusive luxury yachts in the world.

  • Solaris: This 140-foot yacht is owned by American businessman Larry Ellison. It features a swimming pool, a tennis court, and a basketball court.

These are just some of our favourite yachts we saw moored in the harbour at the Monaco Grand Prix. If you are ever lucky enough to attend this prestigious event, take some time out from watching the racing to admire the yachts.

Many of the yachts on display in Monaco use the latest cutting-edge design and technology, giving us a glimpse of what the future of yachting might hold. For example, the Solaris yacht features a glass-bottomed swimming pool that allows passengers to view the underwater world below. This is a new trend in yacht design that is becoming increasingly popular.

The Azzam yacht is also a great example of the latest trends in yacht design. It is the largest private yacht in the world, and it features many innovative design features, such as a missile defence system.

When it comes to sumptuous yacht hospitality, it doesn’t get much better than being on deck of a Super Yacht in Monte Carlo with a glass of Champagne while watching the most famous race in the world.

Heralding the unofficial start of the Mediterranean yachting season, the Monaco Grand Prix brings roaring races, A-lister events and a swell of superyacht titans to the principality each year. The event is one of just two Formula One fixtures on the calendar that can be watched from on board as the yachts moor stern to the track in Port Hercules. Whether you are watching from the sun deck with a glass of rosé in hand or from the comfort of home, keep an eye out for the following yachts in port for the weekend…

Atlantis II is one of the biggest superyachts in Port Hercules for the Monaco Grand Prix

Man of Steel  | 86m

Oceanco’s  Man of Steel  (ex Seven Seas) has secured a star seat to soak up the trackside action in Port Hercules, right in the heart of the buzz.  Guests will be able to enjoy the races from the main deck, with its swimming pool and line of sun loungers, or one of the upper decks, where there is a jacuzzi and lounge area. After making headlines as the second-most expensive yacht sale of 2021, this is the first high-profile yachting event that  Man of Steel  is attending since her change of ownership.

Coral Ocean  pictured pre-refit

Coral Ocean  | 72.5m

Fresh from an extensive refit,  Coral Ocean  is also right in the thick of the F1 action. The Lürrsen-built yacht left her refit facilities Palma earlier in the month and the Monaco Grand Prix is her first opportunity to show off her new look, which centres around a change of hull colour, new interiors and a modification on the upper deck. With original design from Jon Bannenberg, the 1994-built yacht is an icon of the yachting world and her fresh appearance is sure to be a big talking point in Monaco.

Grace | 81m

Originally launched as  Kibo  in 2014, Abeking & Rasmussen’s  Grace  is a regular fixture around Monaco, and she’ll be berthed inside Port Hercules for the duration of the F1 Monaco Grand Prix. The yacht’s cascading aft decks offer stacks of space to watch the cars tear around the circuit, and a long list of amenities promises plenty of ways to relax after the Formula One buzz wears off.  Grace  is pictured above, third from the right.

The Wellesley  | 56m

Oceanco’s 56 metre  The Wellesley  is one of the largest charter yachts on the scene for the Monaco Yacht Grand Prix. Listed for charter with TWW Yachts, her interiors follow an elegant, hotel-style theme and she has a number of crowd-pleasing features including a cigar room and waterfall-fed jacuzzi.  Below Deck Mediterranean  fans may know her better by her alias, The Wellington, which was her moniker when she appeared on the hit Bravo show for season 5.

Lady Moura is one of the biggest yachts in Port Hercules for the Monaco Grand Prix

Katina | 60m

Another yacht that’s fresh from a refit and showing off her new look at the Grand Prix is  Katina , a 2015 build from Croatian yard Brodosplit. A charter favourite for many years, this yacht for sale is packed with fun features and features a huge toy box which her guests can take full advantage of after the races wind down. She accommodates up to 12 guests in six cabins and is home to fully-equipped gym and a dedicated massage room.

largest yacht at monaco grand prix

Robbie Bobby  | 33m

Tucked right into the sharp turn where the circuit wraps around the harbour,  Robbie Bobby  has a prime spot for her guests to watch the Formula One action unfold. The motor yacht was launched by Dutch yard Lynx in 2013, and she is crowned by a generous sundeck where her guests will have panoramic views across the race circuit and the lively port. To make arrivals in and out of Monaco even easier, the yacht has a conveniently situated tender garage for smooth transfers.

Sirocco | 47m

Berthed just in front of the Nouvelle Chicane, Heesen’s  Sirocco  boasts great seats to watch the Monaco Grand Prix. She is another popular charter yacht that starred in Below Deck and she is well-loved for her exotic interior, which uses a blend of woods and natural materials. An eight-person jacuzzi offers a prime vantage point over the  racetrack, and there’s also a multi-media room on the interior where guests can enjoy the Formula One in a more serene setting.

Hampshire II is one of the biggest superyachts in port for the Monaco Grand Prix

Catching plenty of attention in Port Hercule, Palmer Johnson’s gold-hulled  DB9  is the perfect yacht for entertaining over the Formula One weekend. She’s primed for hosting Monaco Grand Prix yacht charters, with three pools, an integrated speaker system and an expansive sundeck that promises an immersive experience from one of the best seats in the house – right in front of Quai-des-États-Unis. With her sharp, sporty look and supercar-inspired name,  DB9  is completely at home at the F1.

Secret  and  Cloud 9  off Monaco

Secret | 82m

One of the yachts bringing the at-anchor action is  Secret , a 2013 build from Abeking & Rasmussen. Her Sam Sorgiovanni exteriors make her instantly recognizable off the Monegasque coast, and as a superyacht for sale she’s sure to be catching the attention of prospective buyers.

Lionheart is one of the biggest superyachts in Port Hercules for the Monaco Grand Prix

Cloud 9  | 89m

Cloud 9  marks one of the largest yacht sales of 2022 so far, and this is her first high-profile appearance under her new name. When she was known as Infinity, the Oceanco build was notoriously private – now it seems she’s spending a little more time in the limelight. She is listed for charter with Burgess and comes complete with expansive lounging spaces, a decadent beauty saloon and a main deck pool that measures almost 18 metres squared.

Lionheart | 90m

In 2016,  Lionheart  was launched by Benetti as the Italian shipyard’s new flagship and is the owner’s third Benetti to bear the same name. The 90-metre motor yacht is no stranger to Monte Carlo, spending most of her time cruising the French and Italian Riviera from her home base in Port Hercules.  Lionheart  has remained secretive in the five years since her launch and is currently berthed at the end of Quai Rainier.

Tatoosh  looking as imposing as ever

Tatoosh | 92m

Tatoosh  joined the sales fleet in 2021 to much excitement, and is currently one of the most recognizable yachts around the waters of Monaco. She was delivered in 2000 by German yard Nobiskrug and is packed from bow to stern with cool amenities, including a waterfront dive center and contraflow swimming pool with a floor that can be raised flush to the deck when drained. The coolest yachts to charter at the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix

Catch the best views of the action from one of these yachts, available to charter at the 2023 race.

Guaranteed to garner plenty of attention, the 60.9-metre Arience is one of the largest charter yachts available for charter at the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix. She was built by German yard Abeking & Rasmussen and delivered in 2012, featuring interior and exterior styling by Reymond Langton Design . You can enjoy front-row seats to race from her expansive sun deck, but if you want a bird's eye view - head up to the circular observation lounge. Or simply relax and soak in the action from the hot tub on the owner's private deck on the bow. Arience sleeps 12 guests and 16 crew, with plenty of space for parties, too.

Arience is available to charter with Cecil Wright with a weekly rate from €595,000.

Feadship's 43-metre superyacht Go , delivered by the Dutch yard in 2010, has secured a spot in Monaco's Port Hercules. She is one of the largest yachts of her size on the water and features excellent deck space – ideal for catching all the race day action. She's also super stylish, with clean lines, modern furnishings and contemporary design running throughout. The spacious yacht accommodates 10 guests and nine crew, plus more for parties, of course.

Go is available to charter with Y.CO with a weekly rate from €200,000 .

The Grand Prix was traditionally considered a gentleman's sport, so where better to watch it than a classic gentleman's yacht. The 35.4-metre Alhambra , delivered by Dutch yard Feadship in 1970, enjoyed a modern refit in 2021 that added contemporary touches to her classic styling. Accommodating 10 guests and six crew, racing fans can bask in the atmosphere from the yacht's large sundeck, two al fresco lounges, or the foredeck, featuring a bar.

Alhambra is available to charter with Northrop & Johnson with a weekly rate from €55,000 .

Catching plenty of attention in her spot at anchor, Palmer Johnson ’s 52.4-metre gold-hulled DB9 is the perfect yacht for entertaining over the Formula One weekend. She’s primed for hosting Monaco Grand Prix yacht charters, with three pools, an integrated speaker system and an expansive sundeck for soaking up the rays. With her sharp, sporty look and supercar-inspired name, DB9 is completely at home at the F1.

DB9 is available to charter with Worth Avenue Yachts with a weekly rate from $25,000,000 .

Making her way onto the rankings of one of the finest charter yachts on the market, Phoenix 2 has some rare availability at the Monaco Grand Prix. The 90 metre Lürssen was designed inside and out by Winch Design to capture the art deco spirit of New York. She is finished with a 5.7-metre firebird figurehead that rises up from the bow like the eagles mounted on the Chrysler building.

Inside, Phoenix 2 is an entertainer at heart and even features a piano lounge, commissioned for an owner with a penchant for music. According to Andrew Winch the 90 metre Lürssen has played host to some world-class musicians and extravagant soirees over the years. Adding to The Great Gatsby vibes, a six-panelled gold-bas relief by DKT Artworks overlooks the custom Steinway.

Phoenix 2 i s available to charter with Edmiston with a weekly rate of €1,150,000.

Competing with the racing cars for attention is the sleek 49.5-metre motor yacht Khalilah , delivered by American yard Palmer Johnson in 2014. Catch the race from her large aft deck or for panoramic views and a hot tub, head to the sundeck. Inside the yacht's bold, gold exteriors, she sleeps 11 guests and nine crew and features interior styling by Luxury Projects and Palmer Johnson's in-house design team.

Khalilah is available to charter with Fraser with a weekly rate from €255,000.

Hot on the heels of an all-encompassing 2023 refit, the 50.4-metre Emerald is a fine flagbearer for classic Feadship style, with her clean lines and well-balanced profile. Returning to the charter fleet after 16 months in the yard she is now more than two metres longer and boasts a striking new paint job, reflective of her new name. Primed for entertaining, Emerald boasts a vast sundeck – a perfect spot to take in the Grand Prix excitement – and has a bar on hand to keep the cocktails flowing.

Emerald is managed for charter with TWW with a weekly rate of €210,000 .

The 66.4-metre Okto was built in Italy by ISA and delivered in 2014, instantly becoming an icon. Now scheduled to be in Monaco in May, the yacht, listed for charter with Camper & Nicholsons , is set to be one of the most in-demand charters at anchor during the Grand Prix. She was designed by Andrea Vallicelli with interior styling by Alberto Pinto , and can accommodate up to 11 guests in six cabins, and 16 crew. Her spacious decks offer plenty of room to celebrate the race day action, while her six-metre infinity edge pool and elevated sundeck Jacuzzi are great places to soak in the atmosphere.

Okto is available to charter with Camper & Nicholsons with a weekly rate from €480,000 .

Having won a World Superyacht Award for her attention-grabbing, vertical-plumb bow exterior, S oundwave will be sure to turn heads during the Monaco Grand Prix. A monochrome masterpiece of poise and comfort, the 63-metre yacht was the second bluff-bowed boat Benetti has ever built, and features a wonderful sundeck, primed for entertaining.

But for those looking for some recovery after high-octane-action at the Grand Prix, the top deck of Soundwave is dedicated to wellness, complete with a massage room, steam room and shower area as well as a mosaic-tiled hot tub for unwinding. A small seating area with a kitchenette allows the crew to serve up smoothies or other healthy snacks to refuel after a day at the races.

Soundwave is available to charter with Y.CO with a weekly rate of €650,000 .

Royal Falcon One

This 41-metre Custom catamaran will be turning heads in Monaco during the Grand Prix, not just because of her sweeping superstructure and visor-like windows, but as one of the few catamarans at the event. Designed by the Singapore-based Royal Falcon Fleet with the F.A Porsche Design Studio , Royal Falcon One is a futuristic-looking entertainer, with a sundeck featuring a Jacuzzi spa tub with cushioned sun pads and an exterior lounge aft on the main deck. She has three bars on board and generous spaces for post-race parties.

Royal Falcon One is available for charter with Fraser with a weekly rate of €195,000.

The Prices & Parties Aboard the Iconic Yachts of the F1 Monaco Grand Prix

largest yacht at monaco grand prix

It’s a bona fide showcase of opulence. Here’s what you need to know about the yachts at the Monaco Grand Prix.

The most expensive weekend in sports is here. Formula 1 drivers will take their talents to the French Riviera on Sunday for the Monaco Grand Prix. Sure, fans mainly flock to watch their favorite driver make the podium, but this particular race is also an excuse to show off one’s latest luxury toys.

In this case, it’s the super-yachts that provide the most picturesque backdrop for the complicated track.

Attending a Formula 1 race is already a bucket-list experience. Watching it from the upper deck of a multi-million-dollar aquatic behemoth? Not many can say they’ll have that opportunity. Logistically speaking, finding yourself on one of those things isn’t guaranteed. You either have to be the owner of the ship, know said owner personally, or eclipse celebrity status that will automatically grant you an invitation if you are even in the general vicinity.

The illustrious Port Hercules marina is the hottest place to be over the next few days, so let’s take a look at what it takes to find yourself amongst Hollywood A-listers and their Very Important Friends.

Get on our list for weekly sports business, industry trends, interviews, and more.

  • Inside the Boardroom

Securing a spot on the water is no easy feat. Many opt to rent one for the weekend, which certainly comes at a hefty price tag. According to The Sports Rush , there are 760 berths up for grabs, and the least expensive will run you $3,800 a night. But it’s no guarantee that price will grant you an acceptable vantage point of the race. If that’s a priority, then expect to pay at least $110,000 a night. Keep in mind, that doesn’t even include food, drinks, entertainment, and anything else to make your super-yacht the most exclusive of the bunch. Also, yachts perched along the inner docks of Port Hercules have a length restriction of 30 meters.

For those looking to experience opulence without the possession of a boat, there’s an option for that. Enter the super-yacht hospitality package. As Yacht Charter Fleet describes, you can still be among the who’s-who in Monte Carlo, and even get a trackside vantage point of the race. Because they don’t come with the responsibility of managing a boat, demand for this option is incredibly high. In fact, many secure their spots for next year immediately following this year’s festivities. All the same benefits like access to premier dining and extravagant amusement are still included.

Billed as the most prestigious hospitality package in Monaco, Amber Lounge is an immersive experience that aims to please. Securing a pass here is like finding a golden ticket for a trip to the Willy Wonka factory — except you’re likely feasting on the rarest of chocolate available. At this VIP spot, expect to network with F1 drivers, celebrities in town for the Cannes Film Festival, and if you’re lucky, royalty. Some of the must-attend events include fashion shows, charity events, dinners prepared by Michelin-starred chefs, and more. Individual passes for the lounge run €600 ($642) a person and climb up to €35,000 ($37,459) for a semi-private VIP suite table for 10 with free-flowing beverages and champagne. As for the yacht’s hospitality, a weekend experience aboard a cabin includes race viewing tickets, gourmet meals and afternoon tea, an open bar, and a live DJ for a cool €5,100 ($5,458) a person.

Who Owns the Largest Yacht in Monaco?

With all this talk about luxury, it certainly begs the question: What is the largest vessel? That so happens to be The Octopus , which was constructed for the late Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft and former owner of the Portland Trail Blazers, Seattle Seahawks, and Seattle Sounders. Measuring 414 feet long, The Octopus is worth $285 million and comfortably sleeps 12 guests. It has two helipads, a basketball court, a movie theater, and its own pool. The price to rent the yacht for a week is almost as extravagant as the amenities it offers, coming in at an overwhelming $2.2 million.

Here are more details about Octopus: The garage alone is 118 feet and holds 7 tenders, several jet skis, and a 10-person submarine. The boat was previously owned by the late Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, costing $20M to operate each year. In January, seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton and Olympic medalist Shaun White famously rented The Octopus to cruise around Antarctica, taking the continent’s breathtaking views, stunning wildlife, and more. Hamilton is set to race in Monaco, which he has won three times.

Superyacht Showdown: The Three Largest Yachts At The Monaco Grand Prix

BY Mawi Fojas De Ocampo

It wasn’t just Monte Carlo’s 78 laps of the 3.337-kilometer Circuit de Monaco that’s caused a flurry of excitement during the much anticipated race week.

The 2023 Monaco Grand Prix ends with a dramatic rain shower and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen finishing at number one. Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso and Alpine’s Esteban Ocun took the number two and three spots respectively, with Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton and George Russell coming in at four and five.

The lowest priced ticket for a grandstand seat on May 28th, Sunday was as $954 while yacht seat prices on three various vessels ranged from $2,600-$3,800 with VIP terrace packages as high as almost $5,000.

Here are three of the largest superyachts at the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix:

Charter Yachts gather for Monaco F1 Grand Prix

By Steph Loseby   24 May 2023

Getting ready for all the thrill and action of the Monaco F1 Grand Prix 2023 , a dazzling fleet of 122 luxury superyachts are gathering in Port Hercules, Monaco ahead of the 80th edition of the world-famous street circuit race through Monte Carlo.

Heralding the start of the Mediterranean summer season, the  Cannes Film Festival began on May 16 and as the glamorous event draws to a close, the high-profile superyachts in town for the occasion begin migrating eastwards along the coast, making their way to Monaco in time for the next big date on the event calendar: the Monaco F1 Grand Prix .

Taking place across four days from Thursday 25 - Sunday 28 May, the race brings the South of France alive and promises to be a thrilling spectacle for avid Formula 1 fans, with plenty of VIP social events for the SuperyachtSet to enjoy.

largest yacht at monaco grand prix

Demand for the Formula One event has proved so popular that every berth in the glamorous Port d’Hercules has been filled weeks ago, with only a few exclusive F1 hospitality packages up for grabs for those wishing to attend.

Things have changed this year as Formula One has taken control of who issues the berths, and with the number of applications massively outweighing the number of spots available for trackside viewing, only a selection of luxury yachts under 55m were lucky enough to secure a prized berth.

As normal, the larger yachts of around 70m are berthed at the T-Dock whilst additional larger superyachts are berthed in Zone 2. This area provides charter guests with a much greater degree of privacy, yet they will find they are still surrounded by the electric atmosphere of the event.

We take a look at some of the most exciting superyachts available for charter at this year’s Monaco Grand Prix.

The largest superyacht charter to soak up the atmosphere of this year’s Monaco Grand Prix is the 126m (414ft) yacht OCTOPUS . Bertherd further out of the port in Zone 2, charter guests onboard this Lürssen yacht will be able to experience the thrills of the race in total comfort and privacy.

luxury charter expedition yacht OCTOPUS

Boasting a large aft swimming pool surrounded by loungers and a full cocktail bar, a cinema suite and superb wellness amenities, the luxury expedition yacht provides guests with an abundance of spacious areas to chill out and relax as they enjoy the race weekend.

CORAL OCEAN

Situated along the T-Dock, alongside an array of larger 70m superyachts, is the  73m (239ft) Lurssen yacht CORAL OCEAN . Home to a voluminous sundeck replete with a pool, bar and plenty of seating, guests can enjoy total outdoor living perfection as they sip cocktails, lounge in the luxe seating area and watch tenders whizz by with show-goers.

Additional yacht highlights include her large beach club and extensive spa facilities which guests can make the most out of during the race weekend. With a crew of 22 on hand to provide outstanding service onboard, superyacht CORAL OCEAN is the ultimate yacht for any luxury yacht charter vacation or event.

Also berthed along the T-Dock, the iconic 71m (239ft) charter yacht TITANIA is just moments away from the action. Conceived by industry-leading designers, superyacht TITANIA is a firm favorite among her guests and an enduring charter icon.

Fusing opulent design with an effortless indoor-outdoor lifestyle and a wealth of modern amenities, the motor yacht is perfectly suited to entertaining on a grand scale and makes a great platform on which to host event charters . Home to an expansive beach club, a full-beam observation lounge and a well-appointed sundeck, there is a wealth of space across her four decks in which guests can relax, dine and socialize, all while soaking up the heady atmosphere.

PERSEFONI I

Bagging a spot trackside in Zone 1, the 54m (176ft) PERSEFONI I is in prime position for the race. Refitted in 2021, the Admiral Yachts superyacht is in turnkey condition to host charter guests at the adrenalin-fuelled Monaco Grand Prix and more Mediterranean yacht charter vacations this summer.

luxury charter yacht PERSEFONI I

For those looking for more privacy during the race weekend, this can be found on her vast upper deck, which features an additional Jacuzzi, full bar and observation lounge, as well as a wealth of convivial social spaces and dining options.

PANDION PEARL

Situated trackside on the straight in Zone 1, the 44m (146ft) charter yacht PANDION PEARL is berthed at an unbeatable location for witnessing the heart-stopping action of the race.

Accompanied by exceptional hospitality provided by Captain Jean-Marc and his dedicated crew, the luxurious Sanlorenzo yacht offers guests a sweeping selection of sumptuous living areas laid out invitingly to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere onboard. Combining sophistication and elegance, the yacht is the perfect platform to enjoy the electrified atmosphere from the comfort and ease of a trackside berth.

Also soaking up the social atmosphere in Monaco this weekend is the 60m (196ft) SCOTT FREE and the 55m (180ft) superyacht LOON who are ready to enjoy the excitement of this year's Grand Prix.

Aside from Monaco, the only other Formula 1 circuit to feature trackside berths is the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix , which takes place at Yas Marina on 24 -26 November 2023. Set to provide a fitting finale to the Formula 1 season, the event is the perfect opportunity to charter a luxury superyacht and witness the crowning of the F1 Champion 2023. With an abundance of VIP hospitality packages and after-race entertainment on offer here too, charter guests can enjoy the race weekend in style.

The yacht came with a US$200 million price tag. It can host up to 18 guests and has nine staterooms, according to Yacht Bible . It has indoor and outdoor fireplaces in the private owner’s deck, a movie theatre, gym, a wine cellar and a wellness area.

The nearly 100-year-old annual race is expected to see some showers over the next couple of days, though it’s not expected to deter the floating party scene. More than 80 super yachts, at a combined length of 4.5 kilometers (2.8 miles), are already clustered off the tiny city-state in the French Riviera, with more likely en route.

The superyacht world was thrown into turmoil following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the sanctions placed on billionaire Russian oligarchs.

More than a dozen yachts worth over US$2.25 billion have already been seized. The seizures have sent the luxury vessels racing across oceans to locales that aren’t as likely to impose or enforce sanctions. Some have logged more than 5,000 nautical miles since the start of the invasion in February.

One of the biggest superyachts, Eclipse, owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abromavich, is 533 feet and would have towered over Lee-Chin’s vessel; however, it was notably absent in Monaco.

One of the first yachts seized, Dilbar , owned by another Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov, would have also towered over the other vessels in Monaco, at 512 feet. It was impounded by German authorities while it was undergoing repairs, Page Six reported in March. Since then, other yachts and even private jets owned by Russians with connections to President Vladimir Putin have been seized.

The absence of Russian superyachts pushed the two Canadians into the lead for largest yacht — although the country with the most was Greece, closely followed by the United States and France. Russia did not make Bloomberg’s superyacht leaderboard .

Conor McGregor’s yacht dwarfed by $285m rival at F1 Monaco Grand Prix

largest yacht at monaco grand prix

As usual, the harbour in Monte Carlo was resplendent with some of the world’s most luxurious yachts as their mega-rich owners rocked up to watch the race.

Conor McGregor took his $3.5 million Lamborghini yacht to this year's Monaco Grand Prix. • 63-feet • Two-bedrooms • 4,000 horsepower • 70-mph top speed The yacht is 1 of only 63 made, and McGregor received #12 in honor of his Proper 12 whiskey. pic.twitter.com/wmA0YDKoYZ — Joe Pompliano (@JoePompliano) May 27, 2023

McGregor, the braggadocious UFC fighter known for flaunting his money, arrived in Monaco on his Lamborghini yacht worth $3.5m.

It boasts two bedroom, it’s 63 feet in length, has 4,000 horsepower and a top speed of 70mph.

Not bad, huh?

Well, actually, McGregor’s yacht is tiny and cheap in comparison to the best transport that arrived in Monaco for the grand prix.

The most expensive yacht to be docked in Monaco this weekend was worth a mighty $285m.

The biggest yacht at this year's Monaco Grand Prix (so far) is Octopus. • $285 million • 414-feet • Sleeps 26 guests & 63 crew • 2 helipads, basketball court, movie theater & pool It can cruise 9,000 miles before needing to refuel & its weekly rental rate is $2.4 million. pic.twitter.com/f01QNgrrh1 — Joe Pompliano (@JoePompliano) May 25, 2023

Nicknamed ‘The Octopus’, it was originally built for Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. When he died, it was bought by Swedish entrepreneur Roger Samuelsson.

It sleeps 26 guests and 63 crew, it has two helipads (yes, two!), a basketball court and a swimming pool.

Good news, though - you can rent it for a week! And it will cost a mere $2.4m for seven days.

Slightly more in McGregor’s price range…

MONACO -- If the wide shots of the Monaco Grand Prix look a little less spectacular this year, it's probably because the circuit's famous harbour is operating at little over half capacity.

Port Hercule, which is skirted by Monaco's famous race track on two sides, usually acts as a magnet for the Mediterranean's superyachts at this time of year, turning 160,000 square metres of liquid real estate into the ultimate playground for the rich and famous.

On a race weekend, a berth in Port Hercule can cost anywhere between €8,000 and €128,000 depending on location and size of boat, with the most expensive positions offering a view of the track from the Nouvelle Chicane to the Swimming Pool complex.

The very biggest boats have no choice but to moor on "The T" behind the Swimming Pool grandstand, with their bows pointing out to sea.

But the COVID-19 pandemic has curbed the party in 2021, with loud music banned after 10 p.m. and no more than 12 guests on a yacht at any time.

The largest yacht in the harbour this year is "Faith", a 316-foot leviathan worth an estimated $200,000,000.

In 2019 it was anchored further down the coastline, acting as the base for Aston Martin team owner Lawrence Stroll and his racing driver son, Lance.

Recent media reports suggest Faith has been sold to Michael Latifi, the billionaire chairman and CEO of Sofina Foods and father of Williams racing driver Nicholas.

Details of Faith can be found online , including its seasonal charter rates, which start at an eye-watering €1,200,000 per week and rise to €1,500,000.

That money not only buys you a lot of yacht for seven days, but also a list of amenities that would make several of Monaco's five-star hotels look rather ill-equipped.

The five-storey floating palace houses a cinema, spa, swimming pool, massage room, steam room, hammam, gym and, rumour has it, a snow room.

It has seven bedrooms that can sleep up to 12 guests, a VIP stateroom to entertain friends and includes an elevator to conveniently link its decks.

Faith also comes laden with toys, including two jet skis, an electric foiling surfboard, three sea bobs and two kayaks.

A helipad and helicopter hangar are built into the floating superstructure, although it seems as though you have to provide your own helicopter.

One charter website carrying details of Faith, claims its "impressive leisure and entertainment facilities make her the ideal charter yacht for socialising and entertaining with family and friends".
