As a local, I like to take my friends and family to local venues. On every visit, the staff seem to be surly and unresponsive, never smiling and always in a hurry. Either they are overworked or do not love their job. A smile alone would go a long way in leaving a lasting impression. Last week, our meal included a side of vegetables. The broccoli stems were so hard to cut that one decided to pick it up and bite into it. It was so hard that she could only eat the floret part of broccoli. This week, a friend ordered a medium steak meal. The steak was well done with a thick grizzle through the middle. My snitzel meal was beautiful, thank you. When the dishes were collected, the wait staff seemed to be in a hurry to take it away... No smile, no 'how was your meal?'. I realise we were sitting outside to enjoy the beautiful setting. Does that mean the service should be any different to clientele in the restaurant? Moreton Bay Boat Club, please up your ante. Would love to keep coming back.

Thank you for the review. I have shown it to the wait staff and kitchen for their comments. As mentioned in previous responses we have reviewed the way in which our vegetables are cooked so I'm sure you will be able to notice a difference in future. All our steaks are cut to size on premise by the chefs so I'm uncertain as to how you could have had thick grizzle through the middle as the meat doesn't come like that to begin. I am glad however that the snitzel was to your liking We do have different service levels between the restaurant and the deck. Table service occurs inside whilst the deck is a more casual dining experience. Once again thanks for the review because without them we cant improve. Hope to see you again soon

This was the first time I had ever been to this place and we obviously picked a very busy Sunday to visit. Our table was booked for quite a large number of people - around 20 guests, but sadly in order to pack as many people into the space available on the deck - ( there were other large parties as well), we were jammed packed like sardines into long rows of tables - so long in fact that the person on one end could not converse with the people on the other end of the table without yelling. Our party wasn't the only one set up like this so you can imagine the noise level at the busiest lunch period. It was deafening! The food was nice but it took forever to arrive at the table.Because there was no wait staff taking orders - you went to the counter to order for yourself - some of our guests that were first to order had long finished their meals and left before the last people to order had even got their meal. Because it was so busy the wait staff were overworked and surly in nature. One girl in particular might have cracked her face had she smiled! Even though the food was tasty and reasonably priced I probably won't go back because of the noise level and attitudes of the staff. The person taking the bookings for the restaurant ought to think about the workload for their staff before over booking their restaurant like that again. It shouldn't be about the dollars it should be about the experience and ours was not great I'm sad to say.

Thanks for the review Julie, Sundays are typically our busiest day, bookings do get monitored regularly and we stop taking them prior and also have no walk ins available. Bookings also get spaced out however if the group doesn't order within a reasonable time frame after arrival it impacts on the rest of the bookings. Table serve occurs inside the restaurant only not on the deck so my apologies if this wasn't conveyed to your group at the time however when ordering took place the staff member would have asked if you wanted your meals to all come out together or separately . Hopefully this occurred. The wait time for meals on Sunday only got to 45 mins and this is also conveyed when ordering, once again I hoped that occurred Hopefully we will see you back on a quieter day so you can try our new menu that started on the 1st August.

This restaurant seems to be the main attraction for the boat club, other than the boats had ample free parking. The wait staff were friendly and helpful. The menu was varied and extensive. After eating here for two evening meals and one lunch it became a favorite spot. The Oysters Kilpatrick were excellent, as was every meal except the vegetables, veggies should be cooked not shown the hot water from a distance. They do know how to cook meat, the lamb shanks were falling off the bone and melted in your mouth as was the T bone steak. For lunch I had the chicken Parma perfect, crispy on the outside and succulent on the inside. Tell us how you liked the food Talk about the atmosphere Say what you liked best & least

Thanks for the review, I'm pleased for most part you have enjoyed your experiences here at MBBC as you are correct in saying that our restaurant is our main attraction. I have spoken to the kitchen regarding your comments on the vegetables and they have adjusted the way they do this as others have mentioned this in the past. I appreciate constructive criticism because without it we cant improve our business. We have a new menu starting on the 1st August so hopefully you can get down to try something off it.

Very laid pack atmosphere. Attentive staff. Good food at a reasonable price. Lovely sitting out on the deck.

Food was average. The steaks came out rare despite everyone ordering medium and medium rare. The thai salad came with no ginger or lime or coriander, just dressing and a few strands of noodles and a few bits of cucumber. Oysters were small but we... can recommend the spring rolls. The view on the outside deck is superb, the service was great, food was a let down. More

was very disappointed in my meal, grilled Barramundi and chips. The Barramundi was extremely dry and came out in a square slab, have never had barramundi come out like that ever. Did not taste fresh and was not edible at all and at a cost... of $32, a total rip off. Booked for approximately 20 people and when rang to confirm was told that someone would get back to me during the week to confirm numbers and time, of which nobody did, so when I rung again to confirm numbers were told that they were at capacity and could not add any more to the table. On telling them that no one bothered to contact me said they could add one more chair to the table, but that was the best they could do. Considering the location, expected it to be a bit more 'classy" inside and on the deck than it was. wont go back. More

I hadn't been to the Moreton Bay Boat Club for some time, as I was noticing a distinct drop in standards and service, and figured that I was better off going elsewhere, even though I enjoyed the deck and the lovely surroundings on the marina.... However, in January this year, I was invited to attend a good friend's birthday at the club, and on that basis I returned for lunch. I have to admit that I wasn't expecting too much, and the reception that I got on entering by a somewhat over-zealous young security person, who demanded 'papers', made me recall a youthful trip to East Germany and beyond and the border hassle at the Berlin Wall. Be that as it may though, once inside and seated on the deck, the ambiance was quite different, and the staff, although not cloyingly 'over-attentive' were uniformly pleasant and helpful. My biggest surprise was the food. I had the Seafood Platter, and was astounded at the size and quality of the portion! Particularly so given the very reasonable price charged. It was cooked to perfection and perfectly delicious. Dishes that I saw being served to other members of our party, looked equally scrumptious, and I was assured by their devourers that they tasted as good as they looked. I was so impressed by the service and food, that I persuaded some friends to check the Boat Club out one night for dinner. They were just as impressed as I was, and we have now tagged the Moreton Bay Boat Club as a favourite, and will be returning on a regular basis. The place can fill up so it is wise to book, especially on a weekend. This is a top spot now and deserves a good reputation for food, service and views. More

Have eaten there 3 times now, one for work Xmas party, NYE event and as casual diner. After the first time, I said never again, said the same the 2nd visit and again for NYE event. The food is overpriced and such poor quality, they... need to lower prices or lift the quality of food. However staff are location are amazing and will continue to enjoy the location for a drink, then eat elsewhere. More

Atmosphere/view is delightful and service is friendly. That's about it. The food was disgusting. I couldn't eat more than 2 bites before I gave up. I was excited to see Garlic Prawns on the menu (all time favorite that seems to have disappeared off many... menus). What came out was slop. Way too much garlic, no seasoning and it looked more like risotto or soup than garlic prawns. Also really disappointing to sit in a restaurant by the ocean looking at the Moreton Bay trawlers and get served frozen imported prawns - there was no flavor or texture to these things. I honestly don't know how you can stuff up garlic prawns but the Chief really seemed to want to make an effort in producing yuck. I bought food on the way home instead. More

We decided to have lunch here as heard it was struggling. We stepped inside and checked in covid app and was met by front door person half way to bar and instead of being greeted with a friendly hello we were asked”have you done covid... thing”. Could mean various things. We then were asked if we were members and stating we weren’t, showed other club membership. We asked if still serving lunch , it was 2:20. We were told maybe if we got to food area quickly, and told it was around corner over there. Standing at service counter we were approached and asked if lunch was still being served. We were told they stop at 2:30 and if we ordered straight away then it would be ok, ordered and then ask which table , which we didn’t have as it had sign saying wait for staff to seat !! Served in less than 10 mins , hot and cold seafood platter. The bugs were dry and no flavour at all, the mussels and oysters were dried out so didn’t it them. Whilst we were eating they came and put reserved sign on for dinner reservation, it was 3pm. When we finished they took plates away , didn’t ask why we hadn’t eaten oysters or mussels or if we enjoyed our meal. The waitress then said hope we weren’t staying too long they had to get ready for dinner people. Now 3:30 and assured her we had no desire to stay there and left. The person on the door didn’t look at us or say goodbye. I UNDERSTAND WHY THEY ARE STRUGGLING, poor customer service and poor food that’s obviously prepared and left in fridge for how long , who knows. Would not return. More

We were staying with friends and decided to go to the Morton Bay Boat Club for dinner on a Friday evening. The club was running a meat raffle so I bought a few dollars worth. We had a very tasty mushroom and cashew cob loaf... to share as an entree and the had our main course. I of our friends had the prawn pasta while the other had the Thai beef. My husband thoroughly enjoy his mussels while I loved my seafood chowder. The place was busy but the staff were really friendly and the service excellent. The food was superb. To top it off my number was the first one out and I happily took home 3 bottles of wine. More

Beautiful scenery nice laid back atmosphere a great place to eat for reasonably priced seafood. I have been going here for a number of years and about 12 months ago the food wasn’t up to the usual standard we notified management however nothing was changed... so we stopped going. We had heard recently that the club has reverted back to how it used to be so we gave it another visit today and it’s great to see that it has resumed back to serving quality food again. Will definitely come back. More

We eat here regularly and on this occasion we ordered 2 meals, a half Parmy with mash and veg and the Club Super Salad. Having experienced raw vegetables in the past we specifically asked for those with the Parmy to be well cooked. Unfortunately the... vegies were virtually raw again and unpalatable. One of the main ingredients of the Super Salad is a large serve of avocado but unfortunately the avocado served on this occasion was hard and not ripe - not edible and very disappointing. On a side note, our fiends ordered some fish cakes that also contained prawns. As she does not like prawns, spent several minutes bisecting the fish cakes to remove these. More

Took a good friend here for lunch for her birthday, the food was terrible and the service worse. It was frankly embarrassing, the steak was inedible. When politely requested that the steak be replaced the staff refused, the duty manager appeared to be afraid of... the chef. No contact from the venue when we complained. More

Enjoyed beer & a chance to relax after travels. The Calamari I thought would hit the spot but although it was a large helping the Calamari was the shade of milk chocolate & hence a bit dry & crunchy. It defies logic that in such... 'quick serve' bistros that the desirably LIGHTLY FRIED to a soft honey colour is difficult to achieve. Either fry & pull out sooner or (as I suspect ) change the oil more regularly. Just saying. Great location BUT ... More

Visited the club for lunch. Basic club but beautiful deck overlooking the marina. We had the premium platter (seafood) for two. Just beautiful. An abundance of fresh seafood with small salad, chips and fruit to compliment but not used to bulk it out. Great value!

This is a great place for a sundowner and, particularly, for a fine pint of Guinness. Staff are friendly and helpful and there's a good selection of beers on tap. We've eaten here a couple of times and while the food is fine, it's expensive... by local standards. More

Enjoying lunch on the deck. Beautiful views, lovely lunch created by chef Scott( I asked who the chef was) and friendly service. I ordered the leek and mushroom risotto ( suitable for vegans too) Well done to the entire team, you nailed it! I must... say the garlic prawns that my friend ordered looked amazing too. The view is beautiful and it is nice to watch the sunset over the water whilst having a drink on the outdoor deck. We could see ourself doing this if we lived in the area. Food was okay and we all enjoyed our food selection.... Drinks are reasonably priced. More
