I bought a yacht that I had never seen. I did this because I trusted my broker Andrew Holland. It was not an easy job for Andrew, as I am an experienced boat builder and owner of previous yachts, but work in West Africa. Imagine how hard it was to communicate what I was looking for. Where in the World is Parallax

The Voyage of Parallax continues: Starting in November2021 in Hampton VA, single handed to Antigua and then through the Carribean islands back to St. Martin.  Here Robbyn and the sailing Pom Willoughby joined the voyage now east to the Azores on to Galicia Spain, south along the Portugal coast, along the Iberian coast and southern Spain, through the Pillars of Hercules with a stop at Gibraltar, on to the Baelerics in the western med, back to Gibraltar, Ceuta Africa, Madeira, Canaries and now after 3000 plus miles across the Atlantic, on a mooring in Guadeloupe.

The total nautical miles sailed from Norfolk VA to Marie Gallant Guadeloupe  along Parallax's meandering path is about 11000, best I can reckon, give or take.

A Robin Chamberlain design built by OSTAC out of GRP. With mini keels, this 29’6 cat draws. 8m and is powered by a Yamaha 9.9hp 4 stroke outboard in a central pod. This boat has all the gear needed for coastal cruising including an Auto helm 1000 tiller pilot, 3 head sails and Main, Garmin 172 GPS with maps, 12v X60l refrigerator, 2 X 80w solar panels, a VHF, and safety gear including an EPIRB. The accommodation is two separate queen sized cabins, and she has a good little galley plus a dedicated nav station. There is a flushing WC fitted and also a deck shower. A 2002 hard bottom, 2.5m inflatable tender is included. The tender has a good Dunbier trailer under it if you are going to live on a swing mooring.

Brand: Catalac 900

After Tom Lack’s Catalac production ended in the mid 1980’s, the company was reformed in the early ’90’s under the new name, Blue Water Catalacs. The old Catalac 9M moulds were sourced and it was possible to put the boat back into production under the new ‘Catalac 900 banner. The Catalac 900 was a major rework of the twenty year old Catalac 9M design, with a sleeker and more modern look, achieved mainly by the removal of the old individual aluminum framed windows and replacing them with sealed full length tinted Perspex ones. The boat featured other refinements like an enclosed helm, hot and cold running water as standard and the fitting of twin diesels (either Volvo or Yanmar units) with saildrive transmissions as standard equipment. Replacing the old shaft drive setup meant the engines were now mounted further towards the rear, allowing for a huge lazarette on the starboard side and allowing more space in the port side rear cabin.
