As you soak in the sun, we’ll sail past some of San Diego’s most spectacular coastal sites introducing (or reacquainting) you with the:

• USS Midway Aircraft Carrier – The USS Midway was commissioned one week after the end of World War II, was the largest ship in the world until 1955 and was the longest-serving aircraft carrier in the 20th century. The Midway was so large it could carry 120 planes on its armored flight deck and was the first aircraft carrier unable to cruise the Panama Canal due to its sheer size. While you are visiting San Diego, be sure to check out the USS Midway Museum to learn more about this iconic ship. 
• Star of India – Star of India is the world’s oldest active sailing ship. She is an iron ship with a long and storied past that includes collisions, mutiny and cyclones. She worked as a cargo ship and then spent half a century bringing emigrants to New Zealand. You can tour the Star of India at the Maritime Museum of San Diego. 
• North Island Military Base – Dubbed the official birthplace of aviation, the North Island Military Base is an active military base home to two aircraft carriers and 23 fixed and rotary wing squadrons.
• Cabrillo National Museum – T he Cabrillo National Monument and museum mark the location where the first European set foot on the western US. There is a lot to take in at Cabrillo park including the Old Point Loma Lighthouse and the rocky intertidal zone. 
• Hotel del Coronado – The Hotel Del is a historic beachfront luxury hotel situated in the city of Coronado, just over the bridge from downtown San Diego. It opened in 1888 as the largest resort hotel in the world and today is the second-largest wooden structure in the US. If you are visiting San Diego, it is definitely worth spending a couple of hours at The Del — grab lunch or stroll the pristine beach.

Why Choose a Catamaran Harbor Cruise?

If you’re looking for a San Diego harbor cruise, you have options; we aren’t going to pretend to be the only boat in the bay. But, if you have ever experienced a sail on a cat, you’ll know why we are a bit biased. 

• Catamarans offer much more space than monohull boats making them the perfect choice for groups; on a catamaran there really is no bad seat. 
• Catamarans also offer more stability with less rocking back and forth than monohull boats, which can help with sea sickness. 
• Thanks to their shallow draft, catamarans can access areas of the bay too shallow for most boats. 

Triton is the largest Catamaran in The Big Bay and one of the only options in San Diego if you want to experience a ride on a luxury cat, but don’t want to spend the extra money for a private charter. 

The Triton Catamaran made her maiden voyage to San Diego in January 2020. She is a brand new, GC70, 75 ft Day Charter Catamaran that boasts:

The Triton San Diego Harbor Cruise Itinerary

We’ll embark from 2700 Shelter Island Dr. San Diego, CA 92106 and make our way into San Diego Bay from America’s Cup Harbor. The Triton will then hoist it’s sails and sail toward Cabrillo National Monument, San Diego Naval Base, the Star of India, USS Midway, Coronado Bridge and back!

Where to Park and What to Bring

Parking Directions:

Please click   HERE   for the map of where to park. For free parking, please park in the rear of the parking lot as there are no meters. We do not have assigned parking, so please be sure to come at least 30 minutes early.

Walking Directions:

Once parked, please use this   LINK   for walking directions. You must arrive AT LEAST 30 minutes before your ticketed charter time. Please fill out your waivers and be prepared to present your waiver via QR code, and have your ID handy before you arrive!

Our Charter will not wait for anyone who is late and you will not receive a refund if you do not call before the charter departure informing us that you will not be arriving.

How many guests are allowed on your yacht rental?

Malarky Charters is Coast Guard Approved to have up to 12 guests aboard at one time. Although our yacht rental can easily fit 30 guests, we are limited to 12. If you’re looking for a party boat rental for 13 or more guests, check out Triton Charters. 

How big is malarky and what’s the interior like?

We are the largest catamaran in Mission Bay, San Diego. Malarky is 47ft in length, has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a large living room and a full kitchen. Each month the Malarky is refitted with new decor that is clean and modern. 

where does the yacht charter go? 

Most of our yacht charters start in Mission Bay, near Quivira Basin and journey out to the Ocean. Once in the Ocean, you have the choice to either go North towards La Jolla, or South towards Point Loma. Both options have gorgeous views and are equally exciting. 

How long should we rent the yacht for?

Malarky Charters has a minimum of 2 hours. That being said, to get the most of the yacht charter, we recommend 4 hours. 4 hours will allow you to do a Mission Bay Anchor and Play, and also do some Ocean adventuring. 

where are you located?

Malarky Charters is located at 1441 Quivira Rd. San Diego, CA 92109 . The Yacht is located on “A” Dock which is the Commercial Dock located at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay. Once booked, you will receive a confirmation email with parking and walking details.  

what is your cancelation policy?

All cancellations to be made 14 days prior to the scheduled departure time to receive a full refund. Cancellation within 14 days of the charter will forfeit their deposit. Any cancellations made within 72 hours before the charter will forfeit the full amount of the contracted services and are non-refundable.

Where do we go on the yacht charter?

Unlike other yacht rentals, Malarky Charters does not give you a “cookie cutter” experience. Our Captain and Crew will  recommend a route, but ultimately you can go wherever you want! 

What will we see during the charter?

During your private yacht rental, expect to see an array of wildlife and gorgeous scenery. Often we will see Dolphins, Gret Whales, Blue Whales, Birds, Sea Lions, Flying Fish and more! 

What do we need to bring?

Malarky Charters allows your to bring your own food and drinks (this includes alcohol).  Be sure to bring food that is easily accessible and easy to clean up! Please do not bring any red wine aboard, or glass cups. All liquids contained in glass will be put into plastic cups. Feel free to bring towels, sunscreen and a big smile!

Our Ticketed Mission Bay Cruises that take place Wednesday-Sunday at 10 am, 1 pm, and 4:30 pm at Hyatt Regency Hotel Mission Bay Marina “A” Dock. Each Bay Cruise is 2 hours in duration and will take you through Mission Bay to see all the major monuments such as Quivira Basin, Mariners Basin, SeaWorld, Fiesta Island, Sail Bay, and Cross under both the Ingraham Bridge and the Mission Bay Bridge! On this 2.5-hour excursion, you will enjoy music from our professional sound system, custom cocktails, local tap beer, and assorted seltzers, wine, and champagne poured by our welcoming Bartenders. Guests aboard The Alana may bring their own snacks! If you are looking to have more than just a personal snack, we offer catering options! 

Can we bring our own Alcohol?

The Alana is a liquor-licensed vessel, which means there is no outside alcoholic beverage permitted onboard.

Do we need to fill out a Waiver?

Yes, all guests that board The Alana must have a signed waiver. Once your group books, the person who booked the charter will get a custom link to fill out the waiver. Please use that specific link, as it ties your waiver to your group. If you are at our location and are unable to scan the QR code, you can use THIS LINK to complete your waiver. What is your cancellation policy?

Private Yacht Rental Cancelation Policy:

Ticketed Cruise Cancelation Policy:

You must contact us more than 24 hours before your charter to reschedule or cancel your ticket. If you cancel within 24 hours of your charter or are late/no-show, you may reschedule without a fee. If you wish to get a refund and cancel/no-show within 24 hours of your charter, you will be charged a 20% cancellation fee. Alana may cancel ticketed charters anytime for any reason for which our customers will receive a full refund.

What if I'm not comfortable having a renter drive my boat?

If you are not comfortable having a renter drive your boat, we have an expansive network of licensed and experienced captains. Once your boat is listed, you can filter through our network of captains and favorite captains in your area that you would like to operate your boat.

Our catamarans are kept directly on the sand, on our private beach behind the facility on Santa Clara Point in Mission Bay. This means that all you have to do is hop in while our helpful staff shoves you off, and helps you to land on the beach when you return. With enough room to bring the whole family or a larger group of friends, everybody can experience the excitement that catamaran sailing can provide. San Diego often gets a nice breeze in the afternoons during the summer, making this an ideal time to reserve a catamaran for an experience nobody in your group will soon forget.
