A Romanian court on Tuesday rejected an appeal by influencer Andrew Tate to ease judicial control measures imposed while the legal case continues in which he is charged with human trafficking, rape and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women.

The Bucharest Court of Appeal’s decision upheld a ruling by another court on Jan. 18 which extended by 60 days the geographical restrictions against Tate, 37, stipulating that he cannot leave the country.

Tate lost his appeal more than a year after he was first arrested near Bucharest along with his brother, Tristan, and two Romanian women. Romanian prosecutors formally indicted all four in June last year and they have denied the allegations.

The case is still being discussed in the preliminary chamber stages, a process in which the defendants can challenge prosecutors’ evidence and case file. No trial dates have been set.

Andrew Tate, who has amassed 8.7 million followers on the social media platform X, has repeatedly claimed that prosecutors have no evidence against him and that there is a political conspiracy to silence him. He was previously banned from various prominent social media platforms for expressing misogynistic views and for hate speech.

After their arrest, the Tate brothers were held for three months in police detention before being moved to house arrest. They were later restricted to the areas of Bucharest Municipality and nearby Ilfov County.

Earlier in January, Tate won an appeal challenging the seizure of his assets by Romanian authorities, which were confiscated in the weeks after he was arrested. It is not clear when the next court hearing on his asset seizures will be.

Romanian authorities had seized 15 luxury cars , 14 designer watches and cash in several currencies worth an estimated 3.6 million euros ($3.9 million). Romania’s anti-organized crime agency said at the time that the assets could be used to fund investigations and for compensation for victims if authorities could prove they were gained through illicit activities.

The Andrew Tate Case in Romania: Here’s What to Know

The online influencer and his brother, Tristan Tate, face a variety of charges including human trafficking. They were released from house arrest while they await trial.

Andrew Tate, a wealth-flaunting online influencer known for his male chauvinism and misogynistic views, has been indicted in Romania for human trafficking and forming an organized criminal group.

Prosecutors formally filed an indictment against Mr. Tate and his younger brother, Tristan, in a Bucharest court in June. That means they will likely face a trial in Romania, although the timing is unclear, and the indictment still needs to be examined by a judge.

Mr. Tate won at least a temporary victory on Friday when a court ordered his release, along with his brother, from house arrest while they await trial, although the brothers said in a statement that their movements would still be subject to limitations.

After a court hearing in June, Mr. Tate thanked his supporters and accused the news media of lying. They were not the first wealthy men who had been “unfairly attacked,” he said, adding that, “I look forward to being found innocent,” Mr. Tate said.

Here’s what to know about the case.

Who is Andrew Tate?

Mr. Tate, 36, is a British American former competitive kickboxer who won greater fame after appearing as a contestant on the British reality television show “Big Brother” in 2016. He was ejected from the show, according to The Sun tabloid, after a video surfaced of him hitting a woman with a belt, which they both said was consensual.

He amassed a following of millions, many of them young men, across social media and appeared on podcasts boasting of get-rich-quick schemes and making demeaning comments about women. Mr. Tate has claimed that men are victims of feminism and that women “belong” to men and need men’s guidance. He has also described ways in which he would physically attack women and called them partly responsible if they were raped.

He has used ostentatious displays of wealth, such as a fleet of luxury cars, to signal his masculinity, and has promised to teach his followers through an online “academy” how to have the same lifestyle, charging them $49.99 a month.

He has also said that he is a victim of “the matrix” — an umbrella term for what he views as a conspiracy by corporate elites, feminists and mainstream politicians to target men.

Educators have raised concerns that Mr. Tate’s messaging is finding traction among young boys wrestling with their own ideas of masculinity in an era of changing gender roles. He and his followers say that his arrest has only fed into a narrative that men are being victimized.

Many social media sites have barred Mr. Tate, but he still has a presence on Twitter, where he has almost seven million followers.

What is Andrew Tate accused of?

The influencer, his brother and two Romanian women have been charged with forming an organized criminal group in 2021 and engaging in human trafficking across Romania, Britain and the United States. Prosecutors have kept some details of the charges against them confidential, but an official in the prosecutor’s office in Romania confirmed that the former kickboxer was also facing accusations of rape.

Investigators have identified seven women who say they were exploited by the group and forced into performing sexual acts on camera, which were then disseminated for financial gain. The brothers first misled the women, prosecutors said, by seducing them and promising them a relationship, a method known as “the lover boy,” and housing them in a compound outside the Romanian capital of Bucharest.

One of the women accused a defendant of raping her on two occasions in March 2022 by using violence and psychological pressure, the prosecutors said. On another occasion, when a woman refused to make more pornographic videos and asked to leave, one of the group used violence against her, they said.

The brothers have denied the accusations against them and maintain their innocence. Mr. Tate has called the case a conspiracy against him and framed himself as a martyr to his Twitter followers.

“Today it’s me. Tomorrow it’s you. Nobody is safe from these lies,” he posted on Twitter in June .

What led to the indictment?

Mr. Tate has been using Romania as a base since about 2016 and has not disguised his reasons for doing so to his fans.

“I like living in a society where my money, my influence and my power mean that I’m not below or beholden” to any laws, he told them.

He began drawing increased attention last December after he clashed online with the climate activist Greta Thunberg, asking for her email in a tweet so he could boast about his collection of cars and their “enormous emissions.”

Ms. Thunberg’s response, mocking Mr. Tate’s masculinity and suggesting that he needed to get a life, went viral.

There was also widespread speculation online about whether a distinctive pizza box featured in one of Mr. Tate’s tweets to Ms. Thunberg had alerted Romanian authorities to his presence in the country, but a Romanian official said that was not the case .

Mr. Tate, his brother and two others were arrested soon after and investigated for human trafficking, rape and forming an organized criminal group. Initially held in a Bucharest prison, the two were moved to house arrest three months later.

Mr. Tate has since framed himself as a philanthropist, promising to donate money to charity and “save the world.”

What happens next?

With the indictment submitted to the Bucharest court, prosecutors say the trial process will begin, though it will not be immediate. A judge in a preliminary chamber will first look at the case and determine the conditions the accused must adhere to before a date is set.

As part of the indictment, the authorities have requested the confiscation of the brothers’ assets, which they said included more than $100,000 in various currencies, cryptocurrencies valued at about $380,000, land and property in Romania and luxury goods. The defendants will also have to pay the legal costs of the case of about $60,000.

“An Extremely Dangerous Game”: How Andrew Tate’s Recent Behavior May Be Doing Him More Harm Than Good

Police officers escort Andrew Tate from the Bucharest Court of Appeal in Romania on Feb. 1, 2023.

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

In late March, misogynistic influencer Andrew Tate and his brother, Tristan, were released from Romanian jail and placed under house arrest, as were their two alleged accomplices, Georgiana Naghel and Luana Radu. It was a legal victory for the siblings, who were arrested on Dec. 29 on suspicion of organized crime and human trafficking. (Their trial is expected to begin in late April.) But authorities and legal experts who spoke to BuzzFeed News said that it has become clear that the brothers’ alleged behavior while in detention in their adoptive country of Romania is doing them more harm than good.

BuzzFeed News has learned that Romanian judges and prosecutors are annoyed at the defendants’ actions over the past number of months. Sources in the prosecutor’s office and court papers obtained by Buzzfeed News through freedom of information requests allege that the Tates devised a plot for Andrew to flee to Dubai, and that the brothers were behind attempts to pressure witnesses to withdraw their statements against them. In addition, prior to her arrest, Radu allegedly had accessed classified police computers with help from unknown people to gain an edge in the case.

According to the sources in the prosecutor’s office and outside experts, the group may face other criminal investigations into these allegations. “The Tates have played an extremely dangerous game,” said a person from the prosecutor’s office on the condition of anonymity, discussing statements from witnesses saying they were threatened by the influencers’ followers. (BuzzFeed News has not seen the statements in question.) “From [the Tates’] tweets, it appears they are encouraging it.” Although that source did not cite specific tweets, they added, “Every aspect of the case that touches on the victims is very sensitive.”

Mihai Mareș, a criminal defense lawyer in Bucharest and a lecturer of law at the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași, told BuzzFeed News that judges’ “irritation” at the Tate brothers was evident from the court papers — and was something that could come back to bite the siblings. "Any subsequent statements they may give will be viewed with a certain amount of skepticism by the judicial bodies,” he said.In an official summary of a Feb. 21 court session, a judge cited “new reasons” for refusing to let the Tates out of the central arrest building in Bucharest. “The accused present a clear danger for public order, they made preparations to evade criminal investigation by leaving Romania, are trying to influence witnesses and are exerting pressure on the victims,” the judge wrote.Despite this, two appeals court judges, said to be new to the case, on March 31 approved the Tates’ move to house arrest. The ruling caused anxiety in official circles; Buzzfeed News understands that the Tates’ current location, a compound in a well-heeled suburb north of Bucharest, is being kept under constant surveillance.

Jailhouse phone wiretaps cited by judges in court papers obtained by BuzzFeed News show that Andrew allegedly hoped to flee to Dubai under the pretext of receiving medical treatment there. (The United Arab Emirates does not have an extradition treaty with Romania.) A Tate representative told the Daily Mail in early March that a dark spot on Andrew’s lung was “most likely a tumor.” However, Andrew later clarified via Twitter that the spot was in fact scarring “from an old battle.” Andrew’s request to travel was refused by authorities.

Eugen Vidineac, a lawyer for the Tates, has tamped down speculation that the brothers might try to flee. “They have a home and children in Romania, they are under criminal investigation, there is no reason to run away,” he told local media. Mateea Petrescu, the Tates’ spokesperson, told BuzzFeed News, “Regarding their departure from the country, the partially published wiretaps omitted the context, [namely] Andrew discussing leaving to Dubai for medical inquiries only in the case that his status allows it.”

Romanian authorities also said that the Tates have encouraged their army of followers to message at least one alleged victim demanding she retract her accusations. “These comments are of a nature to provoke in the victim a state of fear as a result of the threatening tone they have in addressing her, attempting to determine her to change her statements regarding the accused in the case,” the judge noted in the February summary.

(Sulaiman Ahmed, a pro-Tate online personality, on Feb. 18 tweeted that he had traveled to Palm Beach, Florida — the hometown of one of the key witnesses in the case — “ for a major story .” However, there was no indication Ahmed, who did not respond to BuzzFeed News’ request for comment, actually met the witness or her family.)

On top of this, in December, a US law firm representing the brothers sent a cease-and-desist letter to the woman in Florida, urging her to retract her statements or face a defamation lawsuit. Romanian authorities view this letter as a piece of the alleged intimidation puzzle.

A separate US lawyer for the Tates, Tina Glandian, who is on their Romanian legal team, recently stressed to the media that her “firm had no involvement in sending the cease and desist letter.” Petrescu told BuzzFeed News that the letter was “a LEGAL action in the USA,” adding, “These suspicions are obsolete given that the judges from the appeals court decided to place them in house arrest.”

“I think Andrew Tate is not the most intelligent guy, but he probably can’t help himself.”

Still, Mareș said that the cease-and-desist order could land the brothers in more legal trouble: “If the [cease-and-desist] notification concerned a withdrawal of the criminal complaint, it could lead to a widening of the criminal investigation scope under the aspect of a new crime — that of influencing statements.” The person close to the prosecutor’s office confirmed such a move was “possible” once the trial for the original charges starts.

Meanwhile, Radu, the Tates’ alleged accomplice and a former police officer, is suspected of having gained unlawful access to a classified police database between April 2022 and December 2022, while the investigation into her and three others was ongoing, court files obtained by BuzzFeed News show. The judge noted that “it would be impossible for the accused to access the database of the [Ministry of Internal Affairs] without support from others.” Petrescu did not address the allegations against Radu, and Radu could not be reached for comment.

In addition, prosecutors said they had obtained new information from the police unit local to the Tate compound, suggesting that women had filed multiple complaints of violence, coercion, and abuse against the brothers that predated the current case. These complaints have gone unresolved, giving rise to suspicions of undue influence from Radu.

In what was seen by prosecutors as another bid to control the ongoing case, Tate allegedly instructed his team to approach two right-wing politicians, George Simion and Diana Șoșoacă, both of whom are known for their provocative statements on sex and gender and the COVID vaccines. Both have expressed anti-Western stances and have occasionally echoed Russian propaganda. (Șoșoacă was added to Ukraine’s sanctions list on March 24.)

“If you take the side of the guys, when they get out of prison they will make sure you are rewarded for telling the truth,” Tate told his assistant to tell the two politicians, according to a Romanian language wiretap obtained by BuzzFeed News and retranslated into English. It is unclear if the approach to the politicians was made. However, when asked by local media if they wanted to defend Tate, both Simion and Șoșoacă refused.

One experienced Romanian justice system insider, who requested anonymity, told BuzzFeed News that Andrew’s various missteps while in detention stemmed from the influencer’s need for public attention and his compulsion to arouse controversy. “I think Andrew Tate is not the most intelligent guy,” the insider said, “but he probably can’t help himself.”

Murdoch testifies Fox News hosts endorsed idea that Biden stole election

Fox Corp Chairman Rupert Murdoch acknowledged under oath that some Fox hosts "endorsed" the notion that the 2020 US presidential election was stolen, according to a court filing unsealed today.

Documents in the case show Mr Murdoch and other Fox executives believed Joe Biden fairly beat Donald Trump and that the results were not in doubt.

The acknowledgment is included in a filing from Dominion Voting Systems, as part of the voting technology firm's $US1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox News over coverage of the 2020 presidential election.

"Executives at all levels of Fox — both [Fox News Network] and [Fox Corporation] — knowingly opened Fox’s airwaves to false conspiracy theories about Dominion," Dominion wrote in its filing.

A five-week trial is scheduled to begin on April 17.

Elon Musk, Tesla sued over self-driving safety claims

Tesla and Elon Musk are being sued by shareholders who accuse them of overstating the effectiveness and safety of their autopilot and full self-driving technologies.

They say Tesla defrauded them over four years with false and misleading statements that concealed how its technologies, suspected as a possible cause of multiple fatal crashes, "created a serious risk of accident and injury."

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages for Tesla shareholders from February 19, 2019 to February 17, 2023.

'No consensus' on origins of COVID, says White House

National Security Council’s John Kirby said there is “not a consensus within in the US government” on the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr Kirby’s remarks follow a Wall Street Journal report last weekend which claimed the US Energy Department believed “with low confidence” that the pandemic arose from a lab leak in China.

Beijing has denied this assessment.

The US National Intelligence Council believes the pandemic occurred naturally through transmission from animal carcasses to people.

“If we have something that we believe can be reported to the Congress and to the American people, that we’re confident in, we will absolutely do that,” he said.

“We really do want to know what happened here, because the president wants to know that we’re postured to prevent any further pandemics.

“There’s just no consensus across the government. The work continues.”

The band, known for using military-style imagery and totalitarian symbols, had been due to perform in Ukraine's capital on March 31.

Greta Thunberg joins Norway protests against wind farm

Dozens of activists, including Greta Thunberg, have blocked the entrance to Norway’s energy ministry in Oslo to protest a wind farm.

Greta Thunberg stands with a megaphone in the middle of a group of seated teenagers next to a door with taped up signs.

The activists say the farm hinders the rights of the Sami Indigenous people to raise reindeer in Arctic Norway.

In October 2021, Norway’s Supreme Court ruled that the construction of the wind turbines violated the rights of the Sami, who have been using the land to raise reindeer for centuries.

However, the wind farm is still operating.

And a Romanian court has upheld a third 30-day detention for Andrew Tate , who is being held on suspicion of organised crime and human trafficking.

Andrew Tate is led in handcuffs out of the back of a van.

A Romanian court rejects Andrew Tate's bid to get his confiscated assets returned

BUCHAREST, Romania — A court in Romania’s capital on Friday denied a request by online influencer Andrew Tate to return assets that were seized during investigations into the case in which he is charged with human trafficking, rape and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women.

The Bucharest Tribunal ruled that all assets seized will remain in possession of Romania’s anti-organized crime agency, DIICOT, Tate’s spokesperson said, adding that the decision will be appealed. Tate, 37, won an appeal in January challenging the asset seizures, which triggered a retrial.

The former professional kickboxer was arrested in December 2022 near Bucharest along with his brother Tristan Tate and two Romanian women. Romanian prosecutors formally indicted all four in June last year. They have denied the allegations.

After the Tates were detained, Romanian authorities seized 15 luxury cars , 14 designer watches and cash in several currencies. The fleet of automobiles included a Rolls-Royce, a Ferrari, a Porsche, a BMW, an Aston Martin and a Mercedes-Benz. The total value of the goods, authorities said at the time, was estimated at 3.6 million euros ($3.9 million).

DIICOT also said it had identified more than 10 properties and land owned by companies registered to the Tate brothers, and that their assets could be used to fund investigations and compensate victims if the authorities could prove they were gained through illicit activities.

Andrew Tate, who has amassed 9 million followers on the social media platform X, has repeatedly claimed that prosecutors have no evidence against him and that there is a political conspiracy to silence him. He was previously banned from various prominent social media platforms for expressing misogynistic views and for hate speech.

The decision on Friday came a week after the Tate brothers appeared at the Bucharest Court of Appeal in a separate case. British authorities issued arrest warrants over allegations of sexual aggression in a U.K. case dating back to 2012-2015, according to the brothers’ spokesperson.

The court granted the British authorities their request to extradite the Tates, but only after legal proceedings against them have been concluded in Romania.

The Romanian case is still being discussed in the preliminary chamber stages, when defendants can challenge prosecutors’ evidence. No trial date has been set.

Last week, the Bucharest Tribunal, the court of first instance, extended by 60 days geographical restrictions against the Tates, which stipulate they may not leave the country.

Andrew Tate can be extradited to face U.K. sex offense allegations, but not yet, Romania court rules

Updated on: March 12, 2024 / 12:35 PM EDT / CBS/AP

Bucharest, Romania —  A court in Romania's capital on Tuesday granted a request by British authorities to extradite the divisive online influencer Andrew Tate, but only after legal proceedings against him in Romania have been concluded, his spokesperson said. The Bucharest Court of Appeal's decision came after Tate, 37, and his brother Tristan Tate were detained on Monday evening on arrest warrants issued by British authorities over allegations of sexual aggression in a U.K. case dating back to 2012-2015.

The appeals court, where the Tate brothers appeared in handcuffs on Tuesday escorted by police, also ordered them immediately released, spokesperson Mateea Petrescu said.

TOPSHOT-ROMANIA-BRITAIN-US-COURT-CRIME

Eugen Vidineac, Tate's lawyer, hailed the court's decision saying it "provides an opportunity for the brothers to participate fully in their defense" and for the legal process "to proceed in a transparent manner."

Four women had reported Tate to the U.K. authorities for alleged sexual violence and physical abuse, but the Crown Prosecution Service decided not to prosecute him. The alleged victims then turned to crowdfunding to cover their legal costs as they pursue a civil case against him.

"We handed over our evidence about the horrific acts of violence we endured and waited for action. But four years later we were told the U.K. authorities would not prosecute him," they state on their campaign page. "It's our one remaining route to hold him accountable."

It wasn't immediately clear what Tristan Tate is accused of in the U.K.

Petrescu said Tuesday that the Tate brothers reject the charges and "express profound disappointment that such serious allegations are being resurrected without substantial new evidence."

Tate is charged in a separate case in Romania with rape, human trafficking and forming a criminal gang to sexually exploit women. He was arrested near Bucharest in December 2022 along with his brother Tristan and two Romanian women. Romanian prosecutors formally indicted all four in June last year and they have denied the allegations.

Andrew Tate, who has amassed 8.9 million followers on the social media platform X, has repeatedly claimed that prosecutors in Romania have no evidence against him and that there is a political conspiracy to silence him. He was previously banned from various prominent social media platforms for expressing misogynistic views and for hate speech.

A post appeared on Tate's X account on Tuesday that read, "The Matrix is afraid, but I only fear God." He uses the term "Matrix" to refer to what he sees as a wide-ranging conspiracy targeting men.

McCue Jury & Partners, the legal firm representing the four British women who accuse Andrew Tate of rape and serious physical and sexual assaults, said in a statement Tuesday they had urged British police to "immediately seek a warrant" for Tate's detention and extradition after they received information last week that he might be planning to flee Romania.

"Today's news is very welcome as it had been a significant concern to many that Tate would seek to avoid justice in Romania and abroad," said Matthew Jury, a managing partner at the law firm. "We are grateful to the British authorities for taking our concerns seriously and issuing an arrest warrant. Tate is accused of serious criminal offenses against a large number of victims and he must be held accountable."

Jury said that whatever the outcome of the Romanian trial, Tate will also face prosecution in England.

He added that since Tate was arrested in Romania, he has "spread a vast amount of disinformation about the criminal charges he faces in the U.K." in high-profile interviews with popular media figures such as Tucker Carlson and Piers Morgan.

After their arrest in Romania, the Tate brothers were held for three months in police detention before being moved to house arrest . They were later restricted to the areas of Bucharest Municipality and nearby Ilfov County. Currently, they cannot leave Romania. The legal case in Romania is still being discussed in the preliminary chamber stages, a process in which the defendants can challenge prosecutors' evidence. No trial date has been set.

In January, Tate won an appeal challenging the seizure of his assets by Romanian authorities, which were confiscated in the weeks after he was arrested.

Romanian authorities had seized 15 luxury cars, 14 designer watches and cash in several currencies worth an estimated 3.6 million euros ($3.9 million).

Andrew Tate Fans Being Embarrassing, And More Of This Week's 'One Main Character'

Every day, somebody says or does something that earns them the scorn of the internet. Here at Digg, as part of our mission to curate what the internet is talking about right now, we rounded up the main characters on Twitter from this past week and held them accountable for their actions.

Each day on twitter there is one main character. The goal is to never be it — maple cocaine (@maplecocaine) January 3, 2019

This week, we've got someone who's super pro-eye surgery, a controversial take on the world's greatest band and Andrew Tate fans exhibiting big loser behavior (what's new?).

LASIK advocate

The character: @CourtneeHendrix, Samford Alum, regular guy, steadfast LASIK believer

The plot: Once upon a time we found a person who didn't know how people with glasses showered. Did they actually take them off ? Today we have another inquisitive mind whose ophthalmological take on LASIK surgery caused a stir, mainly because he said that people "hate technological advance" if they choose spend their life wearing glasses instead of getting eye surgery.

It really baffles me ppl choose a life of glasses over lasik. I truly think ppl hate technological advance — GAIG (@CourtneeHendrix) July 24, 2023

There's something magical that is invoked on Twitter when a flippant comment is thrown around like ad-libs.

The repercussion: At the end of the day, getting LASIK is something that you should consult a professional about, and take a well-researched look into — rather than decide on after reading some comments on social media. With a mix of jokes and reality, the people made their opinions on LASIK surgery loud and clear.

Nah I know way too many people that had to get it done 2-3 times. I'll stick to my glasses — Blkwomenread (@blkwomenread) July 24, 2023

The character: Jack D. Wagner, host of the Other World podcast, big fan of the Grateful Dead

The plot: Look, we don’t know if this was a serious tweet or purely satire/trolling. But the rest of the internet took it seriously, and if he planned on creating chaos then the bait worked perfectly.

serious question: if the grateful dead is not the greatest band of all time from the united states then who is? — jack wagner (@jackdwagner) July 24, 2023

The repercussion: Listen, we can’t totally take a dump all over Jerry Garcia and the DeadHeads out there. But like, the greatest? Really? Are we sure about that? You have so many other choices, like the Beach Boys, Pearl Jam, the Ramones, Metallica, Smashing Pumpkins, REM, Nirvana, Talking Heads, Steely Dan, Sonic Youth, the Jimi Hendrix Experience, the White Stripes, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Soundgarden, Bob Seager and the Silver Bullet Band, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, the Roots, the Jackson 5, Jefferson Airplane, Pixies, Hole, the Misfits, the Killers, RHCP, Chicago, Earth Wind and Fire, Aerosmith, the Eagles — we could go on and on.

@ReachMorpheuss

The character: @ReachMorpheuss, Andrew Tate fan, embarrassment

The plot: On Tuesday, Andrew Tate fan account @ReachMorpheuss posed a thought-provoking scenario to their followers: imagine you're on a date with a beautiful woman, but alleged human trafficker Andrew Tate calls you for a meeting. What do you do?

What are you doing if Tate calls you to a meeting but you’re already on a date with this chick? pic.twitter.com/mVmbFP2OBN — Morpheus (@ReachMorpheuss) July 25, 2023

For the majority of losers that responded, it was a no-brainer — but their answer isn’t the one you, a normal person, would expect. The Tate lovers replied, almost universally, that if the influencer called they’d ditch their date and rush over to Incel HQ ASAP.

The repercussion:

The sane, non-misogynist among us pretty much just made fun of @ReachMorpheuss and their followers — and honestly, I don't see how the original poster saw that tweet going any other way.

Andrew Tate wins legal challenge over seized assets

C ontroversial influencer Andrew Tate has won an appeal in a Romanian court as he seeks the return of assets which have been seized by authorities.

Mr Tate is being investigated in the country over allegations of human trafficking and rape , which he denies.

On Monday, Bucharest's Court of Appeal ordered a new trial over the held assets, which includes luxury cars.

Mr Tate's brother Tristan and two associated companies were also parties to the successful appeal.

The brothers appealed a December 2023 court ruling which upheld the legality of the seizure of their assets.

A ruling handed down by a higher court on Monday said it overturned the earlier ruling and referred it for a retrial.

The decision means the Tate brothers will be able to return to court and mount a new legal effort to reclaim their seized assets.

Two companies, SC Ground Breaking Development SRL and The Cannon Run Limited, were listed alongside the Tate brothers as parties in the appeal.

In a post on his official Twitter account, Andrew Tate said a court will now have to demonstrate the wealth was acquired illegally in order to justify the ongoing seizure, adding: "They won't prove a thing because it never happened."

Court documents released in June indicated the brothers had amassed millions of euros and acquired expensive assets and properties via their business activities, which included adult content and online self-help courses.

Both Tate brothers deny charges levelled by Romanian investigators that they exploited women via their adult content business, which prosecutors allege operated as a criminal group.

Two female Romanian associates were also named alongside the British-American brothers in an indictment published in June, and seven alleged victims were identified.

The brothers were first arrested in December 2022 and spent time in prison before being place under house arrest. While they are no long under detention , the brothers are prohibited from leaving Romania while the investigation progresses.

In January 2023, expensive cars were seen being removed from a property associated with the Tates near Bucharest. Watches worth millions of euros were also confiscated during the raids.
