Murdoch reportedly married his third wife, Wendy Deng, onboard the yacht in a ceremony in New York Harbor in 1999.
Berlusconi, who according to Forbes magazine was the world’s 190th richest person in 2018 with a net worth of $8 billion, reportedly paid Murdoch roughly $7.2 million for the yacht in 1999.

Since then, many millions of dollars have been lavished on refitting Morning Glory. The updates include installing new 850-hp MAN diesels and new generators in 2010, as well as a comprehensive rebuild in 2016-17, which saw the original white hull repainted dark blue, the flybridge extended, and the entire rigging refitted.
Viareggio-based Perini Navi is world-renowned for creating yachts that combine beauty, elegance and performance. According to yacht broker Burgess , which holds the coveted listing, Morning Glory has a top speed under power of over 14.5 knots and a transoceanic range of 4,900 nautical miles at 10 knots.
During Berlusconi’s ownership, the yacht has been a regular visitor to the Caribbean, especially Antigua, where the controversial politician and businessman has a vacation home. Summers have usually been spent cruising the French and Italian Rivieras.
With luxury accommodations for up to eight guests in four suites—as one witty commentator said, “be they blonde, brunette or redhead”— Morning Glory comes with unique features, such as a working marble fireplace, formal dining area and spiral staircase.

The full-beam owner’s suite on the lower deck aft comes with a master study, along with separate his and hers bathrooms. The owner and guests are pampered by a crew of eight.
According to the Burgess listing, the yacht is driven by 10,645-square feet of sail area, giving her exciting double-digit sailing performance. With a huge drop-down centerboard, Morning Glory has a maximum draft of 25 feet for stability and speed.
As for octogenarian Berlusconi, he hit the headlines last month for his split from his former partner of 12 years, 34-year old Francesca Pascale. According to the Guardian , he is reportedly now dating 30-year-old Marta Fascina, an MP from his political party.

Yacht, velieri e barche a motori

Silvio Berlusconi’s 158-Foot Superyacht, ‘Morning Glory,’ Just Hit the Market for $11 Million

Silvio Berlusconi’s heirs near deal on $7.5 billion business empire
The five children of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi are close to reaching an agreement over their father’s 7 billion-euro ($7.5 billion) business empire.
The heirs are set to accept Berlusconi’s will without so-called benefit of inventory, the newspaper Corriere della Sera reported on Saturday. That would speed up the process of distributing stakes in the holding firm Fininvest and the late billionaire’s collection of villas and yachts.
Berlusconi’s eldest children Marina and Pier Silvio were ceded an additional 20% of the family holding Fininvest under the terms of their father’s will, bringing their overall stake to 53% while younger daughters Barbara and Eleonora and younger son Luigi got the remainder. Marina Berlusconi was confirmed at the helm of Fininvest in June.
Fininvest controls MFE, Italy’s biggest commercial broadcaster. Formerly known as Mediaset, MFE dominates the market for TV advertising in Italy, with more than a 40% share. Back in the 1990s it was the launchpad for Berlusconi’s political ambitions.
Fininvest also has 53.3% of publisher Arnoldo Mondadori Editore SpA, a minority stake in financial services provider Banca Mediolanum SpA, and owns football club AC Monza.
Beyond the business holdings there are Berlusconi’s luxury properties, were he often hosted meetings with political allies and heads of states as founder of the Forza Italia party and during his stints as prime minister.

Corriere estimates the overall value of Berlusconi’s villas at 600 million to 700 million euros, including Villa San Martino in Arcore, near Milan, and Villa Certosa in Sardinia. Marina and Pier Silvio Berlusconi are each poised to get both about 30% of the real estate holding Dolcedrago, while Barbara, Eleonora and Luigi receive about 13% each, Corriere reported.
Fininvest declined to comment to Bloomberg.

Berlusconi, a politician who was also a yacht owner
Silvio Berlusconi, who died on June 12, 2023, left his mark on Italian politics and the world of showbiz. He also owned a series of yachts and pleasure boats, both sailing and motor-powered. Here are just a few of these luxury craft.
Disappearance of a yacht owner
Silvio Berlusconi, who died on June 12, 2023, was known to the general public as much for his political career, as President of the Italian Council on 4 occasions and for a total of 3339 days, as for his economic empire at the helm of Italian and European media and soccer clubs. Although he died in Milan at the age of 86, his personal antics also made headlines, and like many billionaires, he had no shortage of yachts . Here are a few pictures.
Several sailboats at Perini Navi
Silvio Berlusconi has owned several yachts from the Tuscan shipyard Perini Navi . He first owned a 40.4-meter sailing yacht built in Viareggio in 1991. The yacht, christened Principessa Vai Via, was named after his daughter's nickname. He finally sold it in 2002, but acquired a new yacht from the Italian yard.
It was the Morning Glory, a 48-meter ketch , which he acquired from Australian tycoon Rupert Murdoch. She could accommodate 8 guests, with all the luxury of these units, marble and rare woods on all decks...
Engine for speed
Silvio Berlusconi wasn't content with luxury yachts . In addition to his villas in Sardinia , he also owned a Magnum 70, a 70-foot speedboat built in the USA, named Sweet Dragon. Recently, the Cavaliere's boat had been involved in a serious accident off the Italian island.

Death of Berlusconi turns spotlight on to fortune he left behind
Billionaire had an estimated wealth of $7.4bn and left no indication of who would take over after his death
S ilvio Berlusconi, Italy’s longest-serving prime minister since the second world war, was a billionaire who had investments in everything from property and banking to the media and football. His death, at the age of 86 , raises questions over the fate of an empire that was closely entwined with a political career that spanned almost three decades.
Berlusconi had an estimated fortune of $7.4bn (£5.8bn) as of April 2023, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. But he left no indication, at least not publicly, of who would take over his empire after his death.
Still, it is believed he wanted to avoid the kind of hereditary dispute that has befallen other super-rich Italian families, such as the Agnellis, the founders of Fiat, and so it is expected his wealth will be divided equally between his offspring.
Berlusconi had two children – Marina and Pier Silvio – with his first wife, Carla Elvira Dall’Oglio, and three – Barbara, Eleonora and Luigi – with his second wife, Veronica Lario.
“There are those who believe they want to liquidate the assets, take the cash and run,” said Francesco Galietti, the founder of Policy Sonar, a consultancy in Rome. “And those who think the opposite. One thing for sure is that they will need time to sit down and consider their options.”
Marina, who chairs Fininvest, the family holding company, and the publisher Mondadori, is poised to be the one calling the shots. Pier Silvio is deputy chairman of the TV company, Mediaset, while the three younger siblings hold stakes in Fininvest but do not have major roles in their father’s businesses.
Berlusconi’s vast wealth includes the AC Monza football club, properties, yachts and artworks, but the main asset is Mediaset, Italy’s largest commercial broadcaster and vehicle for his domination of the national debate.
His heirs will be keen to shield the company from a hostile takeover, akin to that attempted by Vivendi in France in 2016, and so maintaining good relations with Giorgia Meloni’s government, of which Berlusconi’s Forza Italia party is a junior member, will be crucial.
“There will be tit for tat with Meloni,” said Galietti. “The Berlusconi family will throw a [financial] lifeline to an already dead political party, and in return Meloni will have to shield Mediaset from hostile attacks.”
The siblings will also be keen to ensure Forza Italia remains compact, and in government, for their business interests to be safeguarded.
“They did not agree with their father when he collapsed the government of Mario Draghi last year,” said Lorenzo Castellani, a politics professor at Luiss University in Rome. “For the businesses, they have always wanted to be in government, and this government in particular. A good rapport with Meloni can offer guarantees for whichever path they take.”
With Mediaset, it could be that the family will choose to sell it within the next few years if deemed to be the more profitable route. “In that scenario, there could be friction with the government as we know that Mediaset is favourable towards this government,” added Castellani.
A source close to Berlusconi who saw him 10 days before he died, when he tied up his will, said “everyone had been taken care off”, including Berlusconi’s ex-wives.
Another key protagonist is Marta Fascina, the 33-year-old partner of Berlusconi and a Forza Italia deputy. It is thought that his offspring agreed to Fascina being left money in his will in exchange for him not marrying her (the pair held a “symbolic” marriage last year).
“They wouldn’t have wanted a messy divorce like the one with Veronica Lario,” said Castellani.
However, in an indication of positive relations, Martina and Fascina held hands at Berlusconi’s funeral on Wednesday.
“Fascina is a grieving quasi-widow who, in public, the family is holding up – she hasn’t been dropped,” said Galietti. “But I doubt her clout will be the same as we move forward.”

Berlusconi Leaves Control of Business Empire to Two Eldest Children

MILAN (Reuters) - Silvio Berlusconi's eldest children Marina and Pier Silvio will together control the business empire founded by the former prime minister, according to the terms of his will which was made public on Thursday.
Marina and Pier Silvio Berlusconi, who both already have executive roles in parts of the business, will hold equal stakes jointly amounting to around 53% in the Fininvest family holding.
Marina, 56, chairs Fininvest while Pier Silvio, 54, has been in charge of the MFE-MediaForEurope TV business which their father founded. Fininvest also owns Italian Serie A soccer club AC Monza and a stake in asset manager Banca Mediolanum.
Forbes estimated that the overall Berlusconi family assets, which include luxury properties in Milan, Rome and Sardinia, were worth around $6.8 billion.
Brash, ebullient and a four-time prime minister, Berlusconi was a media mogul and political showman whose financial and sexual scandals made him the most polarising figure in modern Italy. He died on June 12 at the age of 86.

Marina and Pier Silvio worked closely together as their father's health faded. Barbara, Eleonora and Luigi Berlusconi, his three children from his second marriage, have been less involved in the family business.
A statement on behalf of the five children said: "No shareholder will exercise overall individual indirect control of Fininvest SpA, previously exercised by their father".
Berlusconi made his inheritance decision on Fininvest in 2006, a copy of the will seen by Reuters showed. He signed off his bequest with the handwritten words: "Thanks, so much love to all of you, your Dad."
MFE's B shares on the Milan stock exchange slipped after the will was made public. They had risen on speculation the family could sell its stake, but MFE CEO Pier Silvio Berlusconi said this week that a sale had never been discussed.
"It seems that there is a move towards continuity in the management of MFE, which reduces the speculative appeal of the stock," Equita analysts wrote in a note.
100 MILLION EUROS FOR 'WIFE' MARTA
Berlusconi left 100 million euros ($109 million) each to Marta Fascina, his partner at the time of his death, and his younger brother Paolo, according to the copy of the will.
He also left 30 million euros to Marcello Dell'Utri, a long-term business partner and close friend who was convicted of Mafia collusion in 2014.
Dell'Utri, a friend of Berlusconi's from university days in Milan, said he was moved to tears by the bequest.
Berlusconi was not legally married to Fascina, who is 33, though on his deathbed he would call her his wife.
The will was in an unsealed envelope and dated Jan. 19. 2022, coinciding with one of the occasions when Berlusconi was admitted to Milan's San Raffaele hospital for treatment.
Berlusconi, who founded a business empire based on real estate and then television, died in Milan. He was suffering from leukaemia and had recently contracted a lung infection.
He had remained active in politics as the leader of his Forza Italia party, which is a component of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni's coalition.
Under Italian law, the deceased's heirs inherit two-thirds of his wealth in equal parts, while the individual making the will can distribute the remaining one-third how they please.
Berlusconi largely gave the part of his estate over which he had control to Pier Silvio and Marina - meaning they jointly ended up with 60% of his assets, while the three younger children shared 40%.
