Un super-yacht avec un garage pour les petits bateaux est luxueusement obscène

Il est normal de désirer les bonnes choses de la vie, mais à quel moment tracez-vous la frontière entre luxe et exorbitance? Probablement quelque part bien avant ce méga-yacht insensé de 60 m de CRN appelé le J’ade, qui dispose d’un garage intégré dans lequel les petits bateaux peuvent entrer.

De plus gros bateaux transportant des bateaux plus petits n’est en aucun cas une nouvelle tendance; ils servent généralement d’embarcation tendre transportant des passagers à terre lorsque le yacht est tout simplement trop grand pour être accosté à un quai. Mais ces bateaux sont souvent soulevés et abaissés à l’aide de grues. Le J’ade est le premier yacht de luxe à disposer d’un véritable garage qui s’inonde, permettant à un hors-bord de 8 mètres d’être conduit à l’intérieur.

Une fois que le plus petit bateau est sécurisé, le garage inondé peut être vidé en seulement trois minutes, ce qui réduit le poids que la paire de moteurs massifs de 1500 kW du yacht doit pousser.

En ce qui concerne les prix, si vous devez demander, vous voudrez simplement continuer. Ce n’est pas le genre de jouet que vous commandez à votre salon nautique local. C’est le genre de chose qui est conçue sur mesure et livrée partout dans le monde où vous en avez besoin. Mais avec une capacité de 13 membres d’équipage et 10 invités, peut-être que vous pouvez trouver 22 amis qui sont prêts à partager les coûts avec vous, puis à élaborer une sorte d’accord de partage de temps. N’oubliez pas que les coûts de carburant à eux seuls sont probablement plus chers que le hors-bord que cet engin massif est conçu pour accueillir.[[ CRN via designboom ]

The most innovative superyacht tender garages

Almost every luxury yacht carries a tender of some sort, but how they carry them separates the run-of-the-mill from the truly exceptional. Take a look at some of the finest examples from around the world, starting with Lady Fleur 's award-winning float-in tender garage and swimming pool...

The owners of Lady Fleur had big plans for their next build, challenging the design team to fit a float-in tender garage and a swimming pool for their grandchildren on a yacht that is just 35 metres in length. The task fell to Bernd Weel Design and Holterman Shipyard and came to fruition on the first X-Treme Yachts X-105 model. The engineering allows this monohull to temporarily become a catamaran, at least for the aft third of the yacht. By splitting the engine room into two watertight sections and building a compartment between them, the aft centre section of the hull then lowers to allow the tender to float out or in. With the tender launched, the bay fills with seawater and rises to become a safe and secure 11-metre swimming pool that sits flush with the deck. Demonstrations created traffic jams at the Cannes Yachting Festival and the feature earned Lady Fleur two gongs at the BOAT International Design & Innovation Awards in 2023.

Nebula is the largest support vessel delivered by Astilleros Armón and Incat Crowther to date, conceived as a carrier for toys, tenders and crew. Below the helideck is the tender garage that houses a 12.3-metre custom catamaran, which designer Kirsten Schwalgien playfully calls "shadow kitten", as well as two RIBs and four Jet Skis. Beam cranes with 11-tonne lifting capacity slide the tenders out over the water for launch, and when the boat is hoisted on Nebula ’s deck the top hydraulically lowers to reduce its height to three metres. Other toys include a full-size helicopter hangar onboard for an Airbus H145. As the largest found onboard any private vessel, it allows the twin-engine rotorcraft to slide in without folding its five blades and provides cover for the tender garage below.

Aviva was built in Germany by Abeking & Rasmussen and delivered in 2017. At 98.4 metres, her interior was styled by British designer design house RWD and was the winner of the Best Lifestyle Feature at the Boat International Design & Innovation Awards in 2018 for her impressive Padel Tennis court (which the vessel was built around). Not the only impressive feature onboard, Aviva also houses a customised 14-metre Hunton XRS43 tender which is launched from a cradle in the garage via tracks over the bathing platform. Perfect for challenging seas, as the tender can follow behind and be lifted up as the yacht moves along.

Built to explore, Octopus has an incredible fleet that revolves around the cavernous two-storey 36-metre internal wet dock where the two main tenders are stored and launched through a giant transom door. Functioning as its own marina, the floodable dock is flanked by rows of smaller garages to store the entire toy inventory, which includes a 9.3-metre custom Vikal limousine and two 8.7-metre custom Zodiacs, one for diving, the other for guests. Two 5.8-metre Zodiac Milpro MK-V are also available for watersports, as is an array of WaveRunners, jet skis, kayaks, surfboards, wakeboards, kitesurfers, windsurfers and electric foil Fliteboards. An 18-metre Delta 54, 13-metre Hinckley, and a new Triton 3300/6 submersible complete the fleet.

Panam can accommodate a 5.5-metre tender in a garage transversally fitted aft of the engine room. Partially floodable, the lower edge of the garage’s side shell door lies below the waterline allowing for ease when launching and retrieving the tender. Baglietto designed the garage so that it can fill with seawater before the shell door opens and immediately drains when the retrieving operation is complete and the door is closed. The tender is towed inside by a winch and balancing cradle and essentially enters the garage floating, allowing for a simple, safe and fast embark.

The first Wider 165, launched as Cecilia , took what Wider had achieved with the Wider 150 and amped it up. The new flagship of the fleet has a float-in tender garage big enough to house an eight-metre tender and a three-person U-Boat Worx submarine (complete with a Jules Verne-esque manipulator hand, which clutched a bottle of Bollinger as she made her debut at the Monaco Yacht Show). The submersible slides out on a sophisticated crane installed overhead. On Cecilia , with the space flooded, both vehicles out and the aft end closed up, the tender bay becomes a saltwater pool, while broad swathes of superstructure fold down either side to open up the space and supplement the sunbathing area on the long stern platform.

Delivered as J'ade , the 58.2-metre CRN superyacht features a transverse float-in tender dock designed specifically for an 8.24-metre Riva Iseo and is accessed from the water through a shell door to the port. The dock takes up almost the entire cross-section of the hull and contains around 5,000 gallons of water that can be pumped out in less than three minutes. To achieve this, the engineers at CRN modified the existing naval platform used for the shipyard's 60-metre vessels and a study of the compartment’s effect on the ship’s trim had to be made to meet the classification requirements. The classic powerboat fits perfectly into the floodable garage and includes a tub to protect from damage and underwater lights for visibility and dramatic effect.

Sanlorenzo 's first 52 Steel, Seven Sins , packs a number of premium features to match her impressive size. Chief among these is a float-in tender garage that transforms into a beach club. Water is pumped into the tender bay and once full, the transom is opened and the tender slips out. Terraces open to port and starboard, while a teak-soled section lowers from overhead, creating a large beach club with light filtering down from the glass bottom of the pool above. “It’s a lot of technical aspects in a reduced area,” says project manager Luca Ghirlanda, reeling off the challenges that had architects poring over plans and gangs of engineers crawling over the space. “The docking tender garage, the opening platform, the opening transom door, the swimming pool with 12 tonnes of water on top of glass... and the up and down floor level.”

Yacht vs Bateau : Quelles Différences ?

Definitions of words such as “yacht”, “boat”, or even “ship” are not always clear. Most of us make our own (unspoken) rules up, while others simply go with the flow and call their vessel whatever comes up at the moment.

So when does a boat become a yacht? Are all boats yachts? Are all yachts boats? What about ships?

Here is our subjective take on this vital matter.

The definition of a boat

In spoken or written English, it seems that anything able to float can be called a boat . It has little to do with size, function, or fit-and-finish. It is the most general term.

According to many dictionaries, boats are defined as “small vessels for traveling over water, propelled by oars, sails, or an engine”. So, a boat can have recreational purposes as well as commercial ones, but it is expected to be quite limited in size. 

A yacht : our unofficial definition

The word « yacht » generally refers to a more sophisticated craft than a boat or a ship. 

Yachts can be sailed or motorized: so catamaran, monohulls, or even trimarans can also be called “yachts”. 

To deserve their name, they have to be comfortable, spacious, well equipped and built with luxury in mind.

Regarding their functions, yachts are purely recreational. 

They are designed for relaxation and leisure first, even though they can be suitable for long stays at sea and transatlantic crossings.  

To sum up, as soon as your boat is a certain size and boasts several luxury features designed for leisure, then you can call it a yacht.

The definition of a ship

According to the Oxford dictionary, a ship is “a large boat for transporting people or goods by sea”.

The ship is associated with something larger and less fancy than a boat. 

It is a “working” vessel, unlike yachts which are made for leisure purposes.

A ship usually needs a full crew to operate. A yacht might need a full crew to operate depending on its size. A boat usually implies smaller vessels and therefore most of them don’t need a crew.  

Common vessels that are called “ships” include ferries, petrol tankers, or warships.

Details to look at to know if you are dealing with a boat, a yacht, or a ship

The size: one of the strong factors to identify a boat vs a yacht.

Size is one of the most determining factors to know how to call your vessel.

A boat is often expected to be smaller than a ship or a yacht. Generally, a vessel anywhere from 15-30 feet in length will be called a boat.

Starting from 15 meters (50 feet), private luxury recreational crafts can be considered yachts. 

Starting from 24 meters (79 feet), you are entering the superyachts area. 

Above, 50 meters can start talking about mega yachts. Obviously, there is no upper limit to mega yachts. Currently, Azzam, the world’s biggest yacht is 180 meters long (590 feet).

So when it comes to differentiating between boat and yacht, size does matter.

But size alone isn’t enough to know the sort of vessel you are dealing with.

The function of a yacht vs a boat isn’t the same

The main function of its vessel is one of the easiest ways to recognize a boat from a ship or a yacht.

Boats can be used for both leisure and business (fishing, day trips, police, …) depending on their size and options.

On the other hand, a yacht has a purely recreational function. Unlike a “boat”, it can be used for long voyages on oceans thanks to its larger size, better propulsion, advanced electronics, guidance, and safety equipment, but especially thanks to its comfort. Yachts can protect passengers from bad weather and the comfortable cabins can accommodate several passengers for long stays. Yachts are also often available for charter with a staff taking care of the guests at a high standard of comfort.

Ships primarily have commercial functions. It can be forwarding freight, crossing the sea with thousands of people on board, or going on a warzone with a unit and its material.

To add to the confusion, some mega yachts such as Christina O could be called ships due to their initial function or their size.

Besides these exceptions, it’s quite obvious to recognize a yacht from a boat or a ship simply by its size and the luxury of its amenities.

The luxury on board makes it a yacht or a boat

A yacht is a recreational vessel designed with luxury and comfort in mind. 

The facilities, be it furniture, rooms, living spaces, safety equipment, and navigation systems are all luxurious on a yacht. 

The notion of space is often very important to feel comfortable on board, even for long cruises. The largest and most luxurious yachts have various spaces such as beaches, sundecks … to make life on board as comfortable as on land, if not more.

To make it simple, if a vessel is luxurious, then more often than not, it’s a yacht.

The propulsion of the vessel can determine whether it’s a yacht or a boat

A boat can be rowed, propelled with its sails, or with one or several engines. 

Motorized small boats can have impressive speed on the water thanks to their lightweight, but their engines are usually less powerful and sophisticated than yacht engines. 

Some boats can sail long-distance when they are well equipped, such as solar panel, water maker etc.

On the other hand, equipment on yachts make them able to operate over very long distances, including crossing oceans.

Most ships are designed to cross the sea with safety and they are designed for this objective.

Looking at the propulsion is therefore not enough to know if a vessel is a boat, a yacht, or a ship, although it can give you a few clues.

The crew on board can tell the difference between a boat and a yacht

Commercial ships and professional boats obviously have experienced captains to sail them around the rough corners of the globe. 

For yachts and leisure boats, it is less obvious.

Big yachts owners usually employ professionals to sail, but also manage the daily operations onboard. The number of enrolled crew members depends on the yacht’ size.

Usually, boats do not need a professional enrolled skipper to operate, if you know how to sail. But you can always rent a boat and hire a skipper to bring you wherever you want.

So, what should you call your vessel? 

To make it simple, if your vessel is a  luxury craft above 50 feet, designed for fun, recreation, relaxation, and comfort, then call it a yacht.

Anything below that size, call it a boat.

If you own a working craft rather than something recreational, especially if it’s a long vessel, then you are free to call it a ship.

But let’s be honest, nobody will blame you if you use the wrong term. You are entirely free to continue calling your canoe a yacht if you like it that way!

Moscow’s nightlife scene is thriving, and arguably one of the best the world has to offer – top-notch Russian women, coupled with a never-ending list of venues, Moscow has a little bit of something for everyone’s taste. Moscow nightlife is not for the faint of heart – and if you’re coming, you better be ready to go Friday and Saturday night into the early morning.

This comprehensive guide to Moscow nightlife will run you through the nuts and bolts of all you need to know about Moscow’s nightclubs and give you a solid blueprint to operate with during your time in Moscow.

What you need to know before hitting Moscow nightclubs

Prices in moscow nightlife.

Before you head out and start gaming all the sexy Moscow girls , we have to talk money first. Bring plenty because in Moscow you can never bring a big enough bankroll. Remember, you’re the man so making a fuzz of not paying a drink here or there will not go down well.

Luckily most Moscow clubs don’t do cover fees. Some electro clubs will charge 15-20$, depending on their lineup. There’s the odd club with a minimum spend of 20-30$, which you’ll drop on drinks easily. By and large, you can scope out the venues for free, which is a big plus.

Bottle service is a great deal in Moscow. At top-tier clubs, it starts at 1,000$. That’ll go a long way with premium vodka at 250$, especially if you have three or four guys chipping in. Not to mention that it’s a massive status boost for getting girls, especially at high-end clubs.

Without bottle service, you should estimate a budget of 100-150$ per night. That is if you drink a lot and hit the top clubs with the hottest girls. Scale down for less alcohol and more basic places.

Dress code & Face control

Door policy in Moscow is called “face control” and it’s always the guy behind the two gorillas that gives the green light if you’re in or out.

In Moscow nightlife there’s only one rule when it comes to dress codes:

You can never be underdressed.

People dress A LOT sharper than, say, in the US and that goes for both sexes. For high-end clubs, you definitely want to roll with a sharp blazer and a pocket square, not to mention dress shoes in tip-top condition. Those are the minimum requirements to level the playing field vis a vis with other sharply dressed guys that have a lot more money than you do. Unless you plan to hit explicit electro or underground clubs, which have their own dress code, you are always on the money with that style.

Getting in a Moscow club isn’t as hard as it seems: dress sharp, speak English at the door and look like you’re in the mood to spend all that money that you supposedly have (even if you don’t). That will open almost any door in Moscow’s nightlife for you.

Types of Moscow Nightclubs

In Moscow there are four types of clubs with the accompanying female clientele:

High-end clubs:

These are often crossovers between restaurants and clubs with lots of tables and very little space to dance. Heavy accent on bottle service most of the time but you can work the room from the bar as well. The hottest and most expensive girls in Moscow go there. Bring deep pockets and lots of self-confidence and you have a shot at swooping them.

Regular Mid-level clubs:

They probably resemble more what you’re used to in a nightclub: big dancefloors, stages and more space to roam around. Bottle service will make you stand out more but you can also do well without. You can find all types of girls but most will be in the 6-8 range. Your targets should always be the girls drinking and ideally in pairs. It’s impossible not to swoop if your game is at least half-decent.

Basic clubs/dive bars:

Usually spots with very cheap booze and lax face control. If you’re dressed too sharp and speak no Russian, you might attract the wrong type of attention so be vigilant. If you know the local scene you can swoop 6s and 7s almost at will. Usually students and girls from the suburbs.

Electro/underground clubs:

Home of the hipsters and creatives. Parties there don’t mean meeting girls and getting drunk but doing pills and spacing out to the music. Lots of attractive hipster girls if that is your niche. That is its own scene with a different dress code as well.

What time to go out in Moscow

Moscow nightlife starts late. Don’t show up at bars and preparty spots before 11pm because you’ll feel fairly alone. Peak time is between 1am and 3am. That is also the time of Moscow nightlife’s biggest nuisance: concerts by artists you won’t know and who only distract your girls from drinking and being gamed. From 4am to 6am the regular clubs are emptying out but plenty of people, women included, still hit up one of the many afterparty clubs. Those last till well past 10am.

As far as days go: Fridays and Saturdays are peak days. Thursday is an OK day, all other days are fairly weak and you have to know the right venues.

The Ultimate Moscow Nightclub List

Short disclaimer: I didn’t add basic and electro clubs since you’re coming for the girls, not for the music. This list will give you more options than you’ll be able to handle on a weekend.

Preparty – start here at 11PM

Classic restaurant club with lots of tables and a smallish bar and dancefloor. Come here between 11pm and 12am when the concert is over and they start with the actual party. Even early in the night tons of sexy women here, who lean slightly older (25 and up).

The second floor of the Ugolek restaurant is an extra bar with dim lights and house music tunes. Very small and cozy with a slight hipster vibe but generally draws plenty of attractive women too. A bit slower vibe than Valenok.

Very cool, spread-out venue that has a modern library theme. Not always full with people but when it is, it’s brimming with top-tier women. Slow vibe here and better for grabbing contacts and moving on.

High-end: err on the side of being too early rather than too late because of face control.

Secret Room

Probably the top venue at the moment in Moscow . Very small but wildly popular club, which is crammed with tables but always packed. They do parties on Thursdays and Sundays as well. This club has a hip-hop/high-end theme, meaning most girls are gold diggers, IG models, and tattooed hip hop chicks. Very unfavorable logistics because there is almost no room no move inside the club but the party vibe makes it worth it. Strict face control.

Close to Secret Room and with a much more favorable and spacious three-part layout. This place attracts very hot women but also lots of ball busters and fakes that will leave you blue-balled. Come early because after 4am it starts getting empty fast. Electronic music.

A slightly kitsch restaurant club that plays Russian pop and is full of gold diggers, semi-pros, and men from the Caucasus republics. Thursday is the strongest night but that dynamic might be changing since Secret Room opened its doors. You can swoop here but it will be a struggle.

Mid-level: your sweet spot in terms of ease and attractiveness of girls for an average budget.

Started going downwards in 2018 due to lax face control and this might get even worse with the World Cup. In terms of layout one of the best Moscow nightclubs because it’s very big and bottle service gives you a good edge here. Still attracts lots of cute girls with loose morals but plenty of provincial girls (and guys) as well. Swooping is fairly easy here.

I haven’t been at this place in over a year, ever since it started becoming ground zero for drunken teenagers. Similar clientele to Icon but less chic, younger and drunker. Decent mainstream music that attracts plenty of tourists. Girls are easy here as well.

Sort of a Coyote Ugly (the real one in Moscow sucks) with party music and lots of drunken people licking each others’ faces. Very entertaining with the right amount of alcohol and very easy to pull in there. Don’t think about staying sober in here, you’ll hate it.

Artel Bessonitsa/Shakti Terrace

Electronic music club that is sort of a high-end place with an underground clientele and located between the teenager clubs Icon and Gipsy. Very good music but a bit all over the place with their vibe and their branding. You can swoop almost any type of girl here from high-heeled beauty to coked-up hipsters, provided they’re not too sober.

Afterparty: if by 5AM  you haven’t pulled, it’s time to move here.

Best afterparty spot in terms of trying to get girls. Pretty much no one is sober in there and savage gorilla game goes a long way. Lots of very hot and slutty-looking girls but it can be hard to tell apart who is looking for dick and who is just on drugs but not interested. If by 9-10am you haven’t pulled, it is probably better to surrender.

The hipster alternative for afterparties, where even more drugs are in play. Plenty of attractive girls there but you have to know how to work this type of club. A nicer atmosphere and better music but if you’re desperate to pull, you’ll probably go to Miks.

Weekday jokers: if you’re on the hunt for some sexy Russian girls during the week, here are two tips to make your life easier.

Chesterfield

Ladies night on Wednesdays means this place gets pretty packed with smashed teenagers and 6s and 7s. Don’t pull out the three-piece suit in here because it’s a “simpler” crowd. Definitely your best shot on Wednesdays.

If you haven’t pulled at Chesterfield, you can throw a Hail Mary and hit up Garage’s Black Music Wednesdays. Fills up really late but there are some cute Black Music groupies in here. Very small club. Thursday through Saturday they do afterparties and you have an excellent shot and swooping girls that are probably high.

Shishas Sferum

This is pretty much your only shot on Mondays and Tuesdays because they offer free or almost free drinks for women. A fairly low-class club where you should watch your drinks. As always the case in Moscow, there will be cute girls here on any day of the week but it’s nowhere near as good as on the weekend.

In a nutshell, that is all you need to know about where to meet Moscow girls in nightlife. There are tons of options, and it all depends on what best fits your style, based on the type of girls that you’re looking for.
