Transforming a superyacht into an even better version of its best self is more than a labor of love. It takes time and a lot of money. For the owners of Lady E, the year-long refit became the “equivalent of buying a new boat,” according to its captain. The owners, with their large, young family, are leaving this month to do a round-the-world tour aboard the 244-footer.

Originally built and launched in 2006 by Amels , post-refit Lady E is now 20 feet longer. Chief among the many additions was a 66-square-foot beach club at the stern, with a large bar and lounge space. “A rotating 77-inch screen to watch the latest movie or the family’s Go-Pro wakeboard moves was a must to allow the children out-of-water entertainment,” Kennedy told Robb Report . “In Lady E style, an Andy Warhol-painted Marilyn Monroe surfboard adorns the beach club wall.”

British shipyard Pendennis started the refit in October 2019, with little knowledge that a global pandemic would cause logistical nightmares. “Flying contractors around the world was more involved, and the temporary yard shutdown and new working arrangements added time to the refit,” says Kennedy.

Still, the wait has been worth it. Above the new beach club is 120 square feet of extended lounge space on the main deck, giving the owners an uninterrupted view of the water through a glass panel. The beach club will serve as a platform for a family that loves its watersports. Both areas were finished with nightclub-spec audio and light systems.

“The owners are active, so keeping the children connected to the sea and the yacht’s activities was a key motivation for the extension,” says Kennedy. “They wanted all the guests to to participate in the broad range of activities, while enjoying the various private spaces.”

The owners made sure to supersize their watersports with a Wajer 55 tender (with plenty of upgrades), a new G23 Air Super Nautique for wake-surfing and water-skiing, not to mention toys like an electric foil, hoverboards, Seabobs, jet skis, and scuba equipment. The health motif was also written large into the refit of the interior, where the upper galley became a health spa and the former sauna was upgraded with a Turkish hammam steam-room, gym, and day head.

Pendennis also added an exclusive interface system on a bespoke iPad platform, connected by more than 3 miles of cable inside the bulkheads. Kennedy says the refit of this popular charter yacht has prompted a number of unsolicited offers to buy her, but the owners plan to keep her for the world cruise. “The owners are focused on enjoying this unique offering,” he says.

They will offer her for charter through Burgess for the America’s Cup finals in March and April, but then they will continue on their world journey into the Pacific Islands from April through September, reaching Panama by November, and spending the winter season the Caribbean. They plan to cruise the Med beginning in June 2022.

Kennedy says the refit was a huge, time-consuming project, involving more than 200,000 man hours. While the owners understand the yacht now appeals to a wider client base, the primary goal was to maximize their own enjoyment.

“There will be more pampering, and much more flexibility for multiple family activities and watersports,” says Captain Kennedy. “The owners enjoy spending time with their larger family, which spans three generations. They celebrate family milestones in different places around the world. We expect that to increase.”

Motor Yacht

Lady E is a custom motor yacht launched in 2006 by Amels in Vlissingen, Netherlands and most recently refitted in 2020.

AMELS are masters in the art of modern Dutch high-value yacht building. The yard is the largest superyacht facility in the Netherlands and one of the top superyacht builders in the world. In 2005 AMELS launched the successful LIMITED EDITIONS and delivered the first yacht of the series in 2007. The shipyard also specialises in the build of full-custom superyachts, with the in-construction Project Signature due to become the largest superyacht ever built in the Netherlands upon her scheduled launch in 2025.

Lady E measures 74.50 metres in length, with a max draft of 3.70 metres and a beam of 12.50 metres. She has a gross tonnage of 1,500 tonnes.

Lady E has a steel hull with an aluminium superstructure.

Lady E also features naval architecture by Amels.

Lady E has a top speed of 17.00 knots and a cruising speed of 13.00 knots. She is powered by a twin screw propulsion system.

She also has a range of 5,500 nautical miles.

Lady E accommodates up to 12 guests in 6 cabins. She also houses room for up to 21 crew members.

On the upper deck, there is a second sky lounge that can be used for relaxing and entertaining guests. 

Her interior is also child-friendly, which makes her a great choice for families. She has a layout that includes a master suite, one VIP cabin, three double cabins, and one twin cabin for guests to stay in. 

In total, she can accommodate a maximum of 12 guests and 22 crew members. There is one king bed, four queen beds, one double bed, two single beds, and one Pullman bed.

In total, there are seven beds. Depending on the size of your charter, there could be as many as twenty-one crew members on board to provide excellent service.

Charter yacht ‘Lady E’ transformed after full scale refit and 6m extension

The charter yacht ‘Lady E’ is now six meters (20ft) longer and boasts a lavish 60-square-meter (646-square-feet) beach club following a comprehensive refit and extension at Pendennis shipyard.

The Amels built motor yacht has been totally transformed following the almost year long project at the British based yard and now measures 74m (242ft).

Aside from the brand new beach club complete with a bar, sun loungers, guest seating and sparkling waterline location, there have been a whole host of other improvements made to  Lady E.

Guests now have much more space to relax and enjoy a luxury yacht charter in style as the 6m (20ft) extension has meant Lady E has gained 120 square meters (1,292 square feet) of living space spread across two levels. In addition extra seating and sunning areas can be found outside on the main aft deck.

There is the opportunity to take it down a notch even further and enjoy the ultimate in relaxation with the sun deck boasting a steam room, massage parlour, beauty room and a large Jacuzzi. Although if you do begin to feel guilty about too much rest and relaxation Lady E has a fully equipped gym as well.

For those who want some adrenaline fueled fun there have been significant upgrades to the arsenal of water toys and tenders. A sporty 18m (59ft) Wajer 55s and a 7m (23ft) Super Air Nautique G23 both provide ample opportunity for high octane fun, along with a plethora of jet skis, Seabobs and other water toys. All a mere hop from the stunning new beach club.

With her chic spiral staircase, multiple dining areas, exceptional home cinema system and abundant deck space across four levels, all easily accessible by elevator, Lady E is a great choice for a totally indulgent charter experience.

Although not immediately evident there has been plenty of work behind the scenes; with wiring and AV upgrades and the installation of new generators and a new exhaust system in the engine room.

Lady E has accommodation for up to 12 guests across seven cabins, including a vast master suite with a separate office, his and her bathrooms and a double rainfall shower. 

Having left the Pendennis drydock, Lady E will conduct sea trials soon and then depart the shipyard later this month ready to enhance her reputation as one of the most successful luxury charter yachts on the market.

Delivered by Amels in 2006, with interior and exterior styling from Italian studio Walter Franchini Architetto, Lady E has proved to be a hugely popular charter yacht over the years and it is easy to see why.

She is now ready to host South Pacific and New Zealand yacht charters in the winter and Mediterranean yacht charters in the summer.

LADY E went into her 2020 rebuild as one of the finest family charter yachts ever to grace the seas. She emerges as the absolute best in her sector of the market.

LADY E also welcomes a sparkling new Wajer 55s, a new Super Air Nautique G23, the global leader in ski, surf and wake boat performance, complemented by the latest water toys on the market.

The bridge and main saloon’s entertainment systems have all been upgraded to ensure enhanced home cinema experience and the sky lounge is all about fun and games.

What hasn’t changed? Her phenomenally spacious interior has the same immaculate Franchini design and big-name artworks. She also has the same super-talented crew.

Everything about LADY E is on a grand scale, from the swirl of her chic spiral staircase to her vast master suite with its separate office, walk in wardrobes, his and her bathrooms. The VIP suite on the main deck and four further elegant guest suites on the lower deck are all exquisitely furnished and an elevator means step-free access to all guest areas.

With acres of luxurious deck space across four levels guests can breakfast on the bridge aft deck, lunch al fresco on the BBQ deck sheltered by retractable glass screens and dine indoors at the bridge deck dining table.

In September 2019, the popular charter yacht Lady E arrived at Pendennis to begin a transformational rebuild. Her Owner had a vision for a significantly enhanced guest experience, which a partnership between the Owners team and Pendennis was to bring to life.

A major component of the yacht’s refit was the addition of a 6m stern extension, creating an extra 120sqm of guest space across her lower and main decks, as well as providing balance to the side profile of the yacht and modernising the appearance of the vessel. Pendennis built a 66sqm beach club on the lower deck, its enlarged transom door opening to a full beam swim platform with actuated swim stairs leading guests into the water. The living space on the aft main deck was increased by 55sqm, providing additional guest seating and sunbathing areas with an uninterrupted panoramic view through the glass panel framing the aft deck.

Running alongside the major structural modifications was a programme of comprehensive engineering and AVIT work. Pendennis and VBH rewired the entire yacht with 5 kilometres of modern data cabling. The re-cabling complemented enhanced visual and sound upgrades throughout the yacht, in particular new 77-85 inch screens throughout the guest areas and nightclub specification sound and lighting systems. The entire guest interface via the onboard iPad system was redesigned on a bespoke platform for Lady E.

Three generators were replaced with Scania DI13 units complete with SCR systems to comply with IMO tier 3 guidelines for cleaner yacht emissions. Additionally, HUG DPF systems were installed to further reduce particulate emissions and comply with NOx and SOx MARPOL regulations. Pendennis engineers worked with TESS Electric to further upgrade Lady E with the installation of the Magnus power management system along with the clean power output, and a new power management system for the Tyco Fire Alarm system.

In the engine room, all major machinery had new motor mounts installed which significantly reduced the noise vibration for the whole yacht. Both main engines and the main engine exhaust were overhauled, with new Mufflers and expansion joints for the exhaust. Along with additional cooling plates, new larger circulation pumps were installed which can maximize the flow of water by regulating speed, meaning the entire engine room now runs 10 degrees cooler than before the refit. Service work was completed on all major engineering systems both within the engine room and external to the yacht, including the chiller plant, gearbox, shafts, rudders and stabilisers and the installation of new propellers. The entire hydraulic systems of the yacht were refurbished and upgraded including the tender garages and aft, port and starboard passerelles.

Lady E’s sleek new profile benefited from the application of a topcoat on her exterior bulwarks and UV exposed areas with Pendennis working in partnership with Pinmar to complete her transformation. Pendennis’ joiners laid new teak decking to the stern, main deck, pool deck and sun deck areas and re-painted Lady E’s pool.

Extended 74 Metre Lady E Launched After Pendennis Refit

The newly extended 74 metre Amels superyacht Lady E has been relaunched following an extensive refit programme at Pendennis .

The yacht was revealed for the first time following its six metre extension on Saturday, September 12. It has now been into the yard's  wet basin for commissioning ahead of sea trials. 

The six metre extension, a major component of the yacht's refit, has resulted in an extra 120 square metres of guest space across the lower and main decks.

The yacht has also left the Cornish shipyard with a 60 square metre beach club, complete with a bar, sun loungers and guest seating. The guest areas on the bridge deck have also been improved with the addition of a health and wellbeing suite. 

A number of technical improvements were made too, including the installation of three new generators and overhaul of the main engines.

A popular charter yacht, Lady E was delivered in 2006 and can accommodate a total of 12 guests and 21 crew.

In what is being referred to as a “hooligan attack,” Alexey Shved, a Russian basketball player who played in the NBA for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Philadelphia 76ers, Houston Rockets, and New York Knicks, was severely injured and hospitalized.

His Russian team, CKSA Moscow, released a statement on Tuesday announcing the news. The statement said,

Our team’s guard Alexey Shved suffered from a hooligan attack committed on him last night at the exit of one of the Moscow restaurants.” Alexey suffered a serious head injury as a result of a fall and was taken to the hospital by an ambulance. The player contacted the police to investigate the incident. Due to the injury, Shved will not be able to take part in the next games of the team. We wish Alexei a speedy recovery!

Teammates and coaches from CSKA Moscow paid Alexey Shved a hospital visit. He is visible in the social media images wearing a neck brace, but he appears to be healing well from the incident. Since then, he has become a hot topic of discussion, with authorities currently investigating the matter.

Alexey Shved is a renowned Russian basketball player. He has been in the news because he recently got hospitalized after being severely attacked while in his home country, Russia.

His full name is Alexey Viktorovich Shved. He was born on December 16, 1988, in Belgorod, Russia. His father’s name is Viktor Nikolayevich Shved, who is a basketball coach. However, not much is known about his family.

In a Russian Super League matchup against Ural Great Perm, Alexey Shved made his professional debut for CSKA Moscow. Later, he left CSKA Moscow on loan and joined Khimki Moscow Region in February 2007. He later went back to CSKA Moscow for the 2007–08 campaign. Before going back to play for CSKA Moscow for the 2010–11 season, he also spent time on loan at Dynamo Moscow.

He later spent three years playing in the NBA, during which he played for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Philadelphia 76ers, Houston Rockets, and New York Knicks.

In July 2015, Alexey Shved traveled back to Russia and agreed to a three-year deal with Khimki. He was voted the VTB United League MVP in the 2016–17 campaign. In 2017, he received the season MVP award at the second-tier EuroCup level across all of Europe.

He returned to CSKA Moscow in August 2021 and signed a two-year contract. Additionally, he has competed for Russia in a number of international basketball tournaments, such as the EuroBasket and the Olympics. He contributed to the Russian national team winning a bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics.

Khimki is part of the Moscow conurbation, on the banks of the Moscow channel and the Klyazma river, and one of the highest density rate in the region.

Before the city, there were several noble lands, which villages are still exist. During the late 19th century, the site of Khimki station became (and remains) the place of Muscovite dachas. Khimki was granted city status, and the Stariye Khimki development was completed. Since then, development programs have turned the countryside into an important city in the region.

Today, Khimki is not only a residential district, but also an important economic and trade center of the Moscow conurbation.

Since Khimki is close to Moscow, has very high population density and a lot of development projects, the city is under blockade by Moscow to protect the capital's transport infrastructure from the flood of people and vehicles migrating in and out every day. There are no ways of comfortable and fast way to get the city.

By car [ edit ]

Khimki is accessible by car via Leningradsky Hwy from Moscow. The part of this highway from Moscow till end of Khimki city limits is the busiest road in Russia.

By public transport [ edit ]

By suburban train from Leningradskii station to Khimki station or Levoberegnaya platform (a district on the left bank of Moscow channel).

A lot of buses and marshrutkas run from Rechnoy Vokzal metro station, at the north end of the Green Line. You can also reach Khimki by marshrutka, bus or trolleybus from Planernaya metro station.
