The Rinker is in good condition overall with low hours. 6/25/23 All BRAND-NEW enclosure and isinglass has been put on. All upholstery seems to be in very good condition without stains and tears. The Garmin radar (outdated and parts are unavailable) The cabin area is in great shape. The carpet is clean, the upholstery is in great condition. All gauges were replaced in 2020, new batteries in 2020 Stock #296996 2005 Rinker Fiesta Vee 300 with Twin Volvo Penta engines, low hours. lift kept, Generator, Full Camper Encloser and Ready to go! The owner replaced the throttle controls with the best mercury manufactures and the steering cables have been replaced. The standard hatches have been upgraded to water tight hatches. There are 4 batteries on board 2 for the engines and 2 for the Minkota Riptide ST80 I-Pilot trolling motor. The batteries are kept in door so they don’t drain sitting in the boat. There is a pair of Mercury 60 HP engines with 395 hours. These engines are extremely fuel efficient and run the boat at a comfortable 25MPH cruise and 0ver 30 MPH top end. Catamarans are one of the most successful innovations in yachting and, according to leading brokerage firm Fraser, sales are on the rise. Amongst Fraser’s most prized yachts for sale, the spotlight is on the 34-metre sailing catamaran, Mousetrap . Designed for global exploration, she has undergone a comprehensive refit, resulting in a “like-new” yacht and offering prospective owners the opportunity to live a luxury sailing lifestyle. Prospective buyers will be pleased to know that Mousetrap will be attending the St Barths Bucket 2024. Whilst she will not be participating, she will be available to spectate and view. BOAT takes a closer look at this highly sought-after superyacht.

Setting records

Designed under the creative genius of the internationally acclaimed naval architect VPLP Design , Mousetrap was crafted as a bespoke carbon composite project by the esteemed French shipyard JFA Yachts . Originating from the visionary dreams of her owner, who actively spearheaded the entire project, she has earned her title as the world's largest carbon fibre sailing catamaran. Notably, Mousetrap 's design incorporates a carbon fibre arch supporting the mast, eliminating the need for posts in the main saloon and enhancing the visual expanse of the space. Furthermore, the yacht's light displacement, a result of her carbon fibre construction, enhances performance, and her hydraulic winches and expansive gennaker enable her to cruise at speed.

Stability at speed

Accommodating nine guests across four luxurious staterooms, Mousetrap boasts expansive open living spaces, rivalling those of larger motor or sailing yachts, with uninterrupted views stretching from the aft cockpit to the main saloon. The foredeck plays host to a custom six-person Jacuzzi, complemented by inviting lounging areas and a discreetly concealed ladder for easy access to the water. A large flybridge and an expansive aft deck, spanning the entire 14-metre beam, blend indoor and outdoor living, providing generous sheltered spaces for dining and lounging. The versatile main saloon accommodates relaxation, dining and work with its wraparound sofa, central bar, formal dining table and office area. With stability as a hallmark, Mousetrap 's sail is flat 90 per cent of the time, ensuring a smooth and comfortable journey.

A first-hand account from Fraser broker Georges Bourgoignie narrates the extraordinary stability, speed and comfort experienced during a memorable sail from Antigua to the Cayman Islands. Amidst a day's work in the saloon, whilst sailing at 15 to 20 knots with winds hovering between 20 to 25 knots, he recalls how stable the boat felt when sitting with a latte that was as steady as can be. “With no heel, little noise and complete comfort, it was unlike anything I have ever experienced before in my many years of sailing monohulls,” he says. “You’d be amazed at the stability, speed and comfort that a large catamaran affords you.”

As good as new

Originally constructed in 2012, Mousetrap had an extensive refit project from 2021 to 2023 and the owner spared no expense in bringing her back to good-as-new condition. The owner's dedication, coupled with the expertise of a highly knowledgeable crew and substantial capital investment, saw a spectrum of enhancements during the project, from integrating state-of-the-art machinery to renewing sails and meticulous servicing of the mast and rigging. The rejuvenation also extended to installing new teak decks, a major paint job and the overall refinishing of all areas.
