History of Moonen Yachts

Moonen Yachts is a prestigious Dutch shipyard with a rich history of boat manufacturing that dates back to its inception in 1963. Initially operating under the name De Ruiter, the firm specialised in the construction of rugged, seaworthy patrol vessels and commercial craft. In 1981, Rene Moonen took over the company and, leveraging his lead, transitioned into the luxury yacht market, henceforth operating under the name of Moonen Shipyard.

Moonen Yachts prides itself on delivering unparalleled quality, offering entirely bespoke, world-cruising, go-anywhere superyachts to its discerning clients. Over the years, the accomplished firm has produced multiple series and custom yachts, including explorer and displacement yachts, some garnering international awards.

Currently, Moonen Yachts operates from their headquarters located in 's-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands. Despite facing financial difficulties in recent years, the iconic yard was taken over in 2019 by an Australian couple, Matthew and Louise Baxter, and continues to reinforce its reputation as a prime builder of premium semi-custom superyachts.
