SURAMA features

The interior design of SURAMA is a stunning blend of traditional and modern styles, which gives the yacht a unique character. The main salon features comfortable seating areas, a large dining table, and an entertainment center. The use of natural materials such as teak, mahogany, and leather creates a warm and inviting atmosphere, while the large windows provide plenty of natural light and stunning views of the sea.

William Tai (ex. SURAMA)  shares a graceful and powerful Fontaine Design Group hull with her sistership, Anakena , from Royal Huisman Shipyard, but her bold and refreshing interior put her in a class by herself. 

Conceived as a world cruiser for an experienced yacht owner, no expense was too great when she was built and no detail too insignificant in her creation. Based upon the previously proved Fontaine design, Anakena , William Tai’s relatively shoal center board draft and balanced ketch rig, with twin engines, is an ideal cruising configuration.

Equipped with in-boom furling technology and proprietary equipment, William Tai has been continually upgraded and beautifully maintained.

This has achieved this by taking the yacht back to the yard that built her, ensuring that her pedigree has been maintained and that the work undertaken is to Royal Huisman’s meticulous standards.

She has been extensively upgraded throughout with all areas focused upon during this comprehensive refit period - including new teak deck, paint, interior and exterior upholstery as well as a complete service of all technical systems and rigging.

William Tai is now in her new livery of flag blue and oyster white, completing her refit in 2010, Winning the Superyacht "Best Refit - 2010" Award

The interior of Surama (ex William Tai)is light with an open and modern styling, with sweeping curves and bi-level sightlines as we have come to expect from the drawing board of Andrew Winch.

In keeping with this generation of Huisman yachts, she has the progressive monitoring and control systems, code-named EASI2C.

Following a shakedown to Norway in the early spring following her launch, this Ted Hood / Ted Fontaine designed 41m/133' ketch encountered gale force winds on her approach to the Mediterranean before an extensive summer long cruise programme. A very happy owner reported excellent turns of speed and total satisfaction with a yacht that required his attending only 6 construction meetings. Surama returned to Holland for minor fine tuning before setting out on her own worldwide cruise, initially via Cuba, Florida, the Pacific and New Zealand.

Royal Huisman Sailing Yacht Surama For Sale

The 40.68 metre sailing yacht Surama has been listed for sale by Fernando Nicholson and Arne Ploch at Camper & Nicholsons International .

Designed by Ted Fontaine , Surama was built in aluminium to Lloyds class by Dutch yard Royal Huisman and delivered in 1997 as a world cruising ketch with her most recent refit in 2017.

A relaxing  Winch Design  interior in neutral fabrics complemented by light teak joinery accommodates up to eight guests in three cabins. The large owner’s suite is aft and has a private study as well as direct cockpit access, and there are two guest cabins midships, each with an additional Pullman berth and all cabins have full en suite facilities on this  yacht for sale .

The deck layout has been optimized to feature areas for both guest use and ease of sail handling, with a large main cockpit aft for al fresco dining and sunbathing area forward.

On the technical side, she comes with OYS standing rigging, Rondal aluminium main & mizzen masts with carbon booms, Rondal carbon in-boom furling, and a sail wardrobe from Doyle Sails.  Under power, twin 570hp Mercedes diesel engines allow a maximum speed of 12 knots and a transoceanic range of 5,000 nautical miles at 10 knots.

Surama  is asking €7,900,000.
