You do not need boat insurance when renting with Boatsetter. Coverage is provided under the Peer-to-Peer Boat Rental Policy, which is underwritten by GEICO Marine Insurance Company. The policy was written from the ground up as a stand-alone recreational boat rental insurance policy covering the period of time that the boat is being rented and is available for all non-commercially insured boats.

Does Boatsetter screen renters?

Yes. We use a system called Cognito to ensure that payment information matches the renter's identity. We also require renters taking out a captained boat to be at least 18 years old and on a bareboat to be at least 25 years old.

Is listing my boat on Boatsetter free?

Yes! Listing a boat is completely free. We only take a commission when your boat is rented. We only make money when you do!

What if I'm not comfortable having a renter drive my boat?

If you are not comfortable having a renter drive your boat, we have an expansive network of licensed and experienced captains. Once your boat is listed, you can filter through our network of captains and favorite captains in your area that you would like to operate your boat.

Ryde Marine was founded by Ralph Myers in 1922 & has been a proud family owned & operated business since that time. In 1967 Don & Gerry Ryde bought the marina & operated it until 1986 when Wayne & Cheryl Blomberg (Don & Gerry's son-in-law & daughter) purchased it from them. Now another generation has taken it over, 2019 Daniel Pearson and Lynne Pearson, Wayne and Cheryl's Daughter and son-in-law, are the proud new owners!

Blue Water Boat Rentals offers tourists and locals in South Haven and St Joseph, Michigan the opportunity to rent a boat by the hour, day, or week. Enhance your Southwest Michigan experience cruising the river or hanging out on Lake Michigan. We offer pontoon boats, speed boats, and dinghy boats. The watercrafts are located at a dock and ready to be taken out to the Lake. Same day reservations accepted, booking in advance is advised.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

• The latest start time for motorized rental is 2 hours before Sundown.
• MUST BE 25 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER TO OPERATE
• We do NOT guarantee a canopy top on ANY vessel.
• Weather may cause unsafe boating conditions in which we may have to cancel the reservation.
• We reserve the right to cancel any reservation for any reason, if we feel the group will harm our equipment or each other.
• Reservations are required however, our boat rentals can be made same day. We begin taking weekend reservations in March for the Summer season.
• 50% down required at the time of booking with a signed rental agreement. The remaining balance is due 7 days prior to rental.
• Due to time restrictions, Rentals will begin at the scheduled time and will not be added to the ending time.
• We recommend to arrive 30 minutes early for parking, training and fitting for life jackets.
• All Rentals do include Life Jackets, and all coast guard required safety items.
• Rental rates do not include fuel or taxes.
• Note that cancelling your rental will result in forfeiture of rental deposit  (50% of rental cost).

Sailboat rentals

$150 for three hours. mostly weekdays between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm. depot beach park, charlevoix location. june 24 - august 8, 2024.

Fill out online Rental Request form to begin the registration process. We love adventuring on Lake Charlevoix, and we’re excited about sharing the fun with as many people as possible. Sail Charlevoix is delighted to provide many ways to play on Lake Charlevoix with our boat rental program. No formal instruction offered, but we may have safety instructors present to lend a hand and offer assistance if needed.

Sail Charlevoix Rental Policies

• Wavier must be signed online or at the site for EVERY participant (18 and under must have parent signature).
• The skipper must be 18 years or older and must have prior sailing experience.
• The skipper must be able to pass sailing check out and written test in each type of boat before renting. Director, Lead Instructor or Assistant Lead Instructor will administer the checkout and test. Please arrive 30 minutes early for your first rental for the checkout and test. If you are unsure of your sailing ability, please take our Adult Sailing Class.
• Three-hour rental for $150.
• JY15 total crew limit, two adults, and two children (8+ years old). Laser, one adult.
• No alcohol, tobacco, or drug use prior to renting or while renting any watercraft.  Customers suspected of intoxication will be asked to leave without a rental and/or refund.
• Sail Charlevoix closes on water operations in the event of lightning and thunder. If needed we will give a voucher to come back another day.
• 14 mph wind limit or less via Weather Bug and discretion by staff.  
• We do not maintain the restrooms or drinking fountains. Use at your own risk.
• ​ ​ Life jackets must be worn at ALL times on the docks and in the boats. We do not provide life jackets. Please bring your own.
• When you rent a boat you are required to help launch, rig, de-rig, and clean up your equipment. We will provide soap, a sponge, and a bucket. 
• Closed-toe shoes must be worn at all times while on boats and docks.
• Beaching and landing of all Sail Charlevoix boats are prohibited, except in an emergency situation.
• The minimum age for passengers is 8.
• It is a good idea to bring a small dry bag for phone and keys.
• Please do not intentionally capsize.  Two capsize limit before we ask you to come in.
• Must stay within boundary north of the entrance to Round Lake and west of a line from Two Mile Point and Oyster Bay point.

Our programs, junior sailing.

Our learn-to-sail program gives many students their first opportunity at command of a boat.  Students earn self confidence and responsibility as they gain boat handling skills.  Lessons include  sailing terminology, knot-tying skills, safe sailing lessons, racing skills and much more.

Junior Racing

Our racing program starts by honing dinghy skills and can help transition the student as far as they want to go.  Sessions focus on specific racing skills and techniques with classroom instruction to review strategy, tactics and rules. Short practice races allow for ample coaching opportunities.

Adult Sailing

Our adult program has successfully provided newer sailors the opportunity to comfortably handle their own boat.  We tailor these sessions to the individual.  Whether getting on a dinghy for the first time or refreshing good sailing habits, our instructors are there to provide the experience desired.

Operating Hours: 9am - 7pm

Rental Hours:  4 hrs, 8 hrs & Multiple Days

You must be at least 25 years old with a valid credit card and have prior boating experience. No boating license is required in the State of Michigan.

A $100 deposit is required to make a reservation. The balance is due the day of your rental.  Reservation deposit must be on a credit card, not a debit card. Sorry, we cannot hold a date without a reservation.

Cancellation policy is 7 days prior to rental date for refund of deposit minus a 10% processing fee. There is NO REFUND of deposit if you cancel inside 7 days of rental date for ANY reason.

If your boating time is reduced due to rain in Grand Haven, we will pro rate the balance due. If it rains all day in Grand Haven, you get a refund of deposit minus 10% processing fee. The decision is not made until the day of your rental, after 1:00 pm. THERE ARE NO CANCELLATIONS BASED ON FORECAST. For rentals of 3+ consecutive days, there are no refunds for inclement weather.

If you arrive late for the start of your rental, the stop time does not change!

Late returns may be charged $20 for every 10 minutes past the end of your rental period!

We offer discounts for veterans, active military personnel and consecutive multiple days.

Cruising Pontoons include fuel.

Sport Pontoons do not include fuel. 

Fuel consumption will vary depending on your usage. On average, you can plan on $10-$15 per hour of boating for gas. Gas dock is conveniently located on Spring Lake.

Our customers can explore Spring Lake, Grand River and the numerous bayous. Sorry, Lake Michigan is prohibited.

Grand Haven Boat Rental is PET FRIENDLY so don't leave the dogs at home!

Each boat is equipped with all emergency equipment, including life jackets.

Please plan to arrive approximately 15 minutes before your start time for the Check Out Process.  You will start in our office with applicable paperwork and a short instructional video.  Check Out is finalized at the dock where we familiarize you with operation of the boat, and document the equipment and safety items on a vessel checklist.

During the Check Out Process if there is ANY indication of alcohol or drug use by the renter, including smell, the rental will be cancelled immediately with NO refund of deposit.

Upon your return, please plan on approximately 5 minutes at the dock for the boat to be inspected.
