Comments from Lagoon 46 charterers

Overall a fantastic experience for all. The Lagoon 46 worked perfectly for 4 couples, with ample options for seating and escaping with a book…fantastic…. The Navigation being top deck with a roof and seating all around was absolutely fantastic also, a feature of the Lagoon over other designs I think.

Adam, New Zealand, June 2023

The Lagoon 46 was the best catamaran we have chartered. There was plenty of deck and seating space and all the bedrooms/ensuites were a good size

.carousel-cell { width: 50%; /* full width */ } .sc-carousel, section .sc-carousel { margin-top: 0; } Rating: 5 / 5 The Lagoon 46 was the best catamaran we have chartered. There was plenty of deck and seating space and all the bedrooms/ensuites were a good size. Preveza was a great starting point and we enjoyed travelling south to Ithaki and north to Paxi. Kalamos was a highlight we tied up to a pier next to a taverna for the night and it was a lovely spot. We had very good service from Robert and Sue at Yachting Holidays and dealing with an NZ company gave us peace of mind. The service from Fyly in Greece was also excellent. We really appreciated being able to board the boat early and our skipper was also very friendly and easy to get along with. Our skipper Adrian Dimitru was keen to get away on Saturday afternoon so we headed south and got a day ahead which was great. .he cruise was excellent and Adrian got us to some of his favourite spots so we were very lucky. Ithaki not to be missed. Craig, New Zealand, Oct 18th, 2023
Rating: 5 / 5 The boat was in good condition and everything worked. I have done 21 bare boat holidays all over the world and rate Montenegro the best destination we have been to. Service was very good. Very impressed with the provisioning. Our list, and what was not on the list, was questioned - demonstrating they had given thought to what we ordered. I would have liked a bit more info re the marinas prior to the trip. Although English was a bit of an issue every WhatsApp we sent with a query during our trip was answered promptly - the best support we have had. Giam, Australia, Jun 27th, 2023

9/10 Rating by Trusted Customer Reviews on Yachting.com

The slightly larger sister of the Bavaria 38 , Bavaria 40 , Bavaria 42 and Bavaria 46 is more spacious, but you won't have any parking problems. This boat is not one of the longest models of the famous German shipyard (that is the Bavaria 56 ) – it is a spacious boat, but still just right.

Reliable equipment

If you like to go swimming, be sure to check with our dealer that your chosen Bavaria 50 Cruiser has a baden plateau. Because sometimes older vintages don't have one. You can also rent a gennaker for some specific Bavaria. We recommend this additional sail if you expect not too strong winds and want to sail on a sail.

Bavaria boats tend to be very heavy, so they are stable enough even in higher winds, they don't heel as much and they don't rock on the waves. They are, as the name suggests, boats suitable for cruising, i.e. for relaxed sailing around islands.

Who is the Bavaria 50 Cruiser not suitable for?

This model is not recommended for races, regattas or long challenging crossings on the open sea, during which sailors want to enjoy perfect sailing and speed. Most Bavaria boats have a furling mainsail, which has the disadvantage of limited advanced sail trim. On the other hand, the advantage is easier hoisting, reefing and the possibility of endless reefing.

Where can you sail from?

We offer the Bavaria 50 Cruiser models in Croatia and Greece , but you can also find them in Spain , Italy and Turkey . Other interesting sailing destinations where you can rent this boat are  Slovenia or Malta. Bora, sirocco, meltemi, tramontana, lebic, mistral or marin are the most common winds blowing in the Mediterranean. Find out how to spot them in advance and what to expect from them at sea in the article 7 most common winds you will encounter in the Mediterranean .

For lovers of the northern seas we offer a Bavaria 50 Cruiser called Snövit in Sweden or a Bavaria 50 Cruiser called Katla in Iceland.

Lagoon Shipyard

One of the world's most renowned catamaran shipyards emphasizes innovation and pioneering . At Lagoon, new catamaran models have not only been manufactured but also developed since 1984. The technicians here have also completed one really interesting commission: the trimarans that appeared in the 1995 Hollywood blockbuster film Waterworld .

Maximum comfort, impressive performance

Emphasis on spaciousness, comfort and a certain degree of luxury are the hallmarks of the brand's boats. Impressive at first glance, the design is never an end in itself, always designed to allow a natural connection between the interior and the exterior . The catamarans are equipped with the latest technology and smart devices such as an electricity generator, a drinking water maker or air conditioning. Ensuring the best possible quality of your stay on board is a priority. However, comfort is not at the expense of performance , Lagoon catamarans are always pleasantly "rideable" .

The most popular models

The Lagoon brand is part of the Bénéteau Group. Among the most popular models of this shipyard are the Lagoon 450 or the larger Lagoon 52 . Catamarans are generally very popular in Thailand , but those from the Lagoon brand enjoy a particularly good reputation among the wealthy clientele.

Tip yachting.com:

Up to Thailand , the land of beautiful beaches and fantastic rock formations. What is yachting like in Thailand? Lots of smiling people, clear seas full of life, romantic islands, mangrove forests, elephants and delicious spicy cuisine. The year-round stable weather simply makes Thailand an ideal destination for yachtsmen. Find out where and when to go in the article Boat holidays in Thailand full of adventure and romance .

Beneteau Group

Originally a French company, the group represents a large number of smaller companies involved in the shipping industry, including Jeanneau, Lagoon, Prestige, Excess... Founded in 1884 by Benjamin Bénéteau, the brand still has the hallmark of a traditional family business , as it is still run by distant relatives of the founder. Today, it is a group of companies with an impressive portfolio .

Innovation and prestige

Beneteau prides itself on research and innovation. Their boats take part in the most prestigious yacht races around the world. For example, the Figaro model pioneered the use of foils in racing sailboats. They have a reputation as a true authority in the world of boat building. The fact that the best designers and architects in the world regularly apply for employment with this manufacturer is testament to its extraordinary prestige.

Beneteau's best-known brands include the cruiser Oceanis , the slightly sportier First and the sport-racing Figaro. Among the powerboats, the Flyer , Swift Trawler , Gran Turismo or Antares stand out. Most popular on the charter market are the Oceanis 38.1 for holiday cruising, the First 35 for regattas or sport cruising and the Antares 36 for fast motoring.

Luxurious Spaces

Lagoon 46

A sophisticated design

Aboard Lagoon’s next generation sailing catamaran , the award-winning Lagoon 46 , luxury takes the form of space through enlightened design that pushes the boundaries of traditional liveaboard cruising. Naval architects VPLP Design and Patrick le Quément make strides in creating a perfect harmony between pleasurable onboard living and efficient sailing . Modular front and aft cockpits , s weeping flybridge , and an unparalleled interior volume for a mid-size catamaran, make this yacht feel much larger than her 46-foot length. Lagoon 46 designers put to work their year of expertise to achieve world-class seaworthiness, ease of sailing, and performance. And the larger sailing plan, shorter boom and a self-tacking jib come together to make sailing the Lagoon 46 a great joy.

Comfort at Sea

Those that relish open air, sun and wind will immediately gravitate to the Lagoon 46’s sweeping flybridge. Access the flybridge via built-in steps on either side . Once atop the bridge, visibility, handling and comfort underway are optimized by the centered rigging and helm. There is plenty of room for passengers to enjoy the view with plush cushioned seating and double sunbeds.

Both fore and aft, there is no shortage of generous living spaces for socializing or finding your own spot under the sun. The foredeck features cushioned seating and sunbeds , which also houses 3 large storage lockers. Aft, the beamy cockpit allows for large gatherings, and owners can choose between traditional davits, or an electric hydraulic dinghy platform.

Open-Air Ambience

Inside the saloon , Nauta Design takes maximum advantage of the generous volume by creating a refined and functional living space. Large windows provide natural light throughout, and sliding windows to the fore and aft cockpits provide ventilation and a breezy, open-air ambience.

The aft-facing galley is large and well-equipped with the conveniences of home. And fine finishes and cabinet work grace the interior spaces throughout.

The large interior volume carries through to the below deck cabins, where layout options include a 3-cabin/3-bath version with an impressive owner’s suite, or a 4-cabin/4-bath version .

A sailing holiday is all about that special and liberating feeling. That is why the interior of the Lagoon 46 is very open, making you feel as if you are one with the ocean. Lagoon promises to keep designing catamarans with bright saloons and 360 panoramic views so you can enjoy the colorful scenery wherever you are on board.

The U-shaped galley was designed so that socializing with friends at the aft cockpit while cooking is very easy. The galley comes with a 4 burner stove, dishwasher, lots of storage, and most importantly, enough refrigerators to keep all of your food and drinks coolled. Did you know that the Lagoon 46 has also got a sliding large front window which allows you to easily pass on drinks to friends at the bow as well?

The cabins are very spacious, offering more than enough storage for all belongings. One of the many beautiful and new characteristics which this catamaran model offers is that all beds (in both aft and bow cabins) are the same size - queen beds.

The 3 cabin owners version has an enormous owner's cabin on the starboard side, with 2 same size cabins on the port side. The 4 cabin version has 4 large cabins.

We decided to divide the exterior into 3 parts and give you a walkthrough of each. These are the places you will mostly be staying at while on board, so let's get into detail:

lagoon 46 cockpit

  • Flybridge - the bench seat is large enough for the skipper and guests to be together while sailing. The wide cushions on the flybridge can be transformed into a seating or tanning area, making this area very customizable. The views from up here are the best, so if you are looking for the best place to relax on board, it would most definitely be there.
  • Bow cockpit - typical for a Lagoon catamaran, you will find the nets connecting the two hulls of the boat. With a large seating area for socializing, there is a newly added small coffee table where you can enjoy a glass of wine when anchored in a relaxing and calm bay.

lagoon 46 dream yacht charter

Even though she is a 46, the overall length is just under 46’, 45'11'' (13.99m). Her beam is 7.96m and her draft is 1.35m. This allows for anchoring in more shallow waters closer to the beach. This model is often equipped with a watermaker, in which case guests do not have to stress about water at all. She can accommodate up to 12 people so the size of the water tanks (2x300l) is more than sufficient. With 2 fuel tanks, each holding up to 520l of fuel, guests are spared of searching for fuel stations during their holiday as enough fuel fits for a weeks worth of sailing.

lagoon 46 aft cabin

The Lagoon 46 has 2 single cabins at the bow which can be used by the crew (skipper and hostess or cook), or a small child. Find out more about skippered charters , and fully crewed charters . If you prefer to sail with a professional crew, Yacht4Less can help you find your charter crew.

As she is lighter than her predecessors, she is able to reach higher speeds. Under power with the standard 2x57 HP engines, she can go up to 8.5 knots if you really push her. Usually you will go up to 7 knots and will still be able to enjoy the noticeable quieter engines.

Under sails, she can go up to 13 knots. Lagoon 46 has the mast moved backwards towards the aft, allowing for more stable and less rocky sailing, minimizing the ‘‘up-and-down’ feeling. As she is a big and powerful catamaran, sailing is made easier with her self tacking jib.

Depending on the time of year, charter prices range from €5400 (£4500) in pre and post season, and up to €12000 (£10000) in high season in Croatia. Prices in Greece and Italy this year are very similar, ranging from €6000 (£5050) to €11,500 (£9600). Keep in mind that these are bareboat prices. Skipper, crew, and extras can be ordered additionally. In high season, daily skippers rates can range from €180 to €200 (average £160), and daily hostesses rates from €120 to €150 (average £110) per day. The salon is large and airy, the designs are modern and the layout makes the boat very functional. What Our Clients Say

P.C (from the U.K)

Considering buying the Lagoon 46 for charter ownership with a program? Here’s some additional information regarding yacht charter ownership and management.

What is yacht ownership?

You can own a boat in the traditional way, you can own a shared yacht with a friend, or you can own a yacht in charter. Either you do all the work yourself or someone else takes care of the yacht management. There are as many ways to own a boat as there are people, and there is a lot to take into account. Can you make money chartering a yacht? What is a yacht programme? What is fractional yachting? Get answers to these questions and advice on yacht ownership! Get in touch now!

Pros of owning a yacht

Instead of worrying about the type, availability or the cost of yacht charter – you can own a yacht and even earn from it! An option to consider is fractional yacht ownership, where you have a share in the boat – you share the yacht costs and the proceeds with others. Owning a charter boat relieves you from the maintenance, helps you to offset the costs, gives you a chance to sail in different locations… If you don’t believe us, you can read charter yacht ownership reviews from real boat owners! There are plenty out there.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

lagoon 46 dream yacht charter

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

lagoon 46 dream yacht charter

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

lagoon 46 dream yacht charter

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

lagoon 46 dream yacht charter

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

lagoon 46 dream yacht charter

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

lagoon 46 dream yacht charter

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

lagoon 46 dream yacht charter

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

Lagoon 46 catamaran (2021) 'Clearlake III'

Lagoon 46 catamaran exterior

The Lagoon 450 (over 900 built). With improved living space and sailing performance, you know you will be chartering a fabulous cat.

Lagoon 46 catamaran Features:

Starting at the stern.

Upon boarding, after a swim or from the dock, life aboard is accessed from wide-open transoms with just two shallow steps up into the cockpit. This Lagoon 46 catamaran also has the tender-lift option which, when the dinghy is launched, doubles as a fabulous bathing platform.

The cockpit is well thought out and spacious. When the cockpit table is not in use, the leaves fold down and there is an ingenious sliding seat that folds beneath the table. This allows access from the cockpit to the flybridge on the port side. There is also access to the flybridge from the starboard side.

Additionally, in the cockpit, there is a front-loading fridge, a sink, and plenty of storage on the starboard side. To port, there is an extensive countertop with a built-in icebox.

The Interior

The saloon of the Lagoon 46 catamaran is sumptuous and spacious. The galley is exceptional with copious storage and counter space, with a big sliding window that opens to the cockpit.

Natural light streams through the wrap-around vertical windows. There is a retractable sash window forward for maximum ventilation, as well as for passing drinks to the forward cockpit. Sinking into the saloon settees, you have to remind yourself you are on a yacht.

Fully air-conditioned, with a generator, extensive fridge, and freezer space –  this catamaran is designed for easy living.

There are three cabins in the hulls, each with en-suite electric heads and showers.  Berths are large doubles in all cabins. There is bountiful storage in hanging lockers and cupboards, leaving cabins clear of clutter.

Large fixed hull windows with opening portlights bring natural light in abundance and great ventilation.

There are two single berths in the bows, accessed from the deck.

Under sail, the Lagoon 46 catamaran has easy sail handling and manoeuvring as well as optimized performance. There is a high aspect mainsail, with a traveller adjusted using an electric captive winch.

The mast step is positioned further aft, reducing pitching and allowing a larger self-tacking jib, which is set on a curved track for added smoothness through the tack or gybe.

The narrower hulls below the waterline create less drag, and with a hull chine, there is no compromise to interior space. So better performance and better accommodation!

With autopilot, the latest B&G navigation equipment, and electric winches where needed, she can be sailed comfortably short-handed. With cable steering, the helm feedback is excellent.

Up forward the transition from the trampoline to the forward cockpit area is flush. There is no stepping down, and the cowling for the anchor windlass doubles as a great tabletop.

Under power, the yacht is smooth and responsive. The upgraded Yanmar 57 HP diesel pushes her under power comfortably at over 8 knots cruising speed.

All the tradition, heritage and quality of Lagoon have been encapsulated in the Lagoon 46, and with advanced design performance and superior comfort, you are assured of a sensational sailing vacation.

*If available, a sleep aboard can be added the night before your charter start for a small supplement, boarding your yacht after 5pm.

Our standard charter rates are applicable for charters of 5 days or more up to a maximum of five weeks. For a tailored quote for charter durations outside this range please contact our reservations team who will be pleased to assits.

Super Tender your Vacation with Horizon Yacht Charters!

lagoon 46 dream yacht charter

Licensed for 6 persons, this 15ft RIB with 60HP Yamaha outboard will get you and your crew to snorkelling spots and the beach in style and comfort.

Make your charter yacht vacation a breeze – enjoy the comfort of being able to tie up your yacht for the night and then continue exploring the surrounding bays! You can pick up your mooring ball at the Bight and then head to the Indians or the Caves for a snorkel. If you visit the Dogs, there’s no need to choose only one snorkel spot for your lunch stop, zip around them all!  A swim ladder makes boarding easy from the water.

For popular spots where it’s trickier to find a mooring, the RIB is the perfect alternative. Settle into Great Harbour, Jost Van Dyke for the night and then take the RIB to White Bay for the afternoon to enjoy painkillers without the hassle of finding a mooring ball or having to move your yacht for the night.

The North Sound boasts a selection of some of the best dining options in the BVI. There’s no need to settle for only one spot when you have the RIB. Pick up provisions from Leverick Bay, enjoy the plunge pool at Nova in Deep Bay, and then zip back to the sound for sundowners at Saba Rock before enjoying dinner at The Bitter End.

If you have a mix of snorkelers, beachgoers, shoppers and sailors onboard then give your group flexibility by taking the standard dinghy included in your charter as well. This will also remove the need to make multiple dinghy trips ashore for larger groups.
