The Four Seasons Yacht Launching in 2025 Will Be an Ultra-Luxe, Invitation-Only Cruise Ship

By Jessica Puckett

The Four Seasons Yacht Launching in 2025 Will Be an UltraLuxe InvitationOnly Cruise Ship

When it was first announced last year , the Four Seasons Yacht generated a lot of excitement among cruisers and loyal fans of the hotel brand alike. But few details on what would be aboard the 14-deck luxury yacht, which is slated to launch at the end of 2025, have been available—until now.

Earlier this week, Four Seasons released the first renderings of the yacht’s decks and interiors—and there’s plenty to get even more excited about.

The vessel will be built around “immersive luxury experiences,” Four Seasons’ president and CEO Alejandro Reynal said in a statement . “The inaugural yacht is a manifestation of this vision, offering a world-class Four Seasons experience, at sea and on land, marked by the genuine, personalized service that our guests know and love.”

On board, there will be a total of 95 suites, the crown jewel of which will be The Funnel Suite: an expansive, four-story penthouse space that is set to be one of the largest suites available on any cruise ship. Across its four levels and its huge outdoor terrace, it will offer more than 9,500 square feet of private space for up to six guests. The Funnel Suite will be located on the ship’s highest decks—where a traditional “funnel” or smokestack would be on a steamship—ensuring optimal privacy and solitude.

The suite’s defining design feature is its curved, wraparound glass windows that will stretch from floor to ceiling and offer sweeping 280-degree views of the sea. The curved glass is a “one-of-a-kind engineering innovation [that] is nothing short of remarkable, from its steel web frame support structure to its double glass thermal performance,” says a company statement. (Four Seasons says it’s the largest piece of contiguous glass at sea and cost $4.5 million to build and install.)

The penthouse suite will also offer a private wading pool on the terrace and a private area dedicated to in-suite spa treatments.

Elsewhere on the yacht, the suites might not be as colossal, but they’re no less luxurious. Each one offers an average of about 580 square feet of space and comes with its own private veranda, measuring at least 100 square feet. No matter where guests stay there's sure to be plenty of pampering, with crew set to outnumber the amount of passengers on the ship.

The Four Seasons Yacht Launching in 2025 Will Be an UltraLuxe InvitationOnly Cruise Ship

Sure to be just as stunning are the public spaces throughout the yacht. On the vessel’s aft deck will be a pool area, featuring lounge chairs and a large 66-foot pool, which is modeled after Aristotle Onassis’ iconic yacht Christina O . The pool’s design means that its saltwater can be quickly filled or emptied and its floor raised to be level with the deck and provide a multi-purpose space for events like parties or weddings on board.

For passengers who prefer swimming in the ocean, the Four Seasons Yacht will have an innovative marina, built especially for swimming and water sports. Activities like private sailing, snorkeling, and windsurfing will be offered, as well as “rentable custom crafted sea limousines designed for transfers and coastal grand touring.” There will be dedicated marina crew to tend to guests’ every need, and beach ladders for direct dips in the ocean when the ship is on anchorage.

In a first-of-its-kind design, the marina area will stretch the entire width of the ship and include large platforms and tiered lounging decks for relaxing in the sun after splashing in the water. Overlooking the marina will be a sophisticated lounge with al fresco seating, the perfect place for a glass of Champagne at sundown.

The Four Seasons Yacht Launching in 2025 Will Be an UltraLuxe InvitationOnly Cruise Ship

As far as itineraries, Four Seasons will prioritize exploring destinations traditionally popular with private yachts, including the Caribbean and the Mediterranean .

When reservations for the first voyages open in January 2024, they will first be available on an invitation-only basis for loyal Four Seasons guests and other travel partners. The exclusivity is “driven by the need to manage extraordinary demand” with scarce inventory, according to the Four Seasons statement. But don’t worry, the yacht will also have an online waitlist that cruisers can join in hopes of being part of the glamor.

The Four Seasons Just Announced a Line of Yachts — and They're Just as Luxurious as You'd Think

Four Seasons Yachts will boast spacious, villa-like residences and high-end dining outlets.

Booking a few nights at a Four Seasons hotel already felt like the pinnacle of an opulent vacation experience. But now, the famed luxury brand is taking it a step further with the announcement of the new Four Seasons Yachts .

Created by a partnership between the Four Seasons, luxury entrepreneurs Nadim Ashi and Philip Levine, and the shipbuilding group Fincantieri, the first Four Seasons Yacht is expected to hit the waters by 2025. The ships, the team shared in a statement, will come with the same bespoke experiences and personalized service you can expect in the hotels.

"Four Seasons Yachts represents the next chapter of our long history of industry-leading innovation, and a milestone moment for our company as we continue to capitalize on new opportunities to extend the world of Four Seasons," Christian Clerc, president, Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, shared in a statement with Food & Wine .

The first Four Seasons vessel will be 679 feet long and 88.6 feet wide with 14 decks. According to the team "no expense was spared" in the boat's creation, clocking in at $4.2 million per suite. But all that investment was worth it and is showcased in the vessel's expanded living spaces and all-suite nautical residential living.

In total, the first boat will come with 95 spacious accommodations, each featuring an extensive network of joining suite combinations creating adaptable, villa-like residences.

In the suite's guests will find floor-to-ceiling windows that provide unobstructed views and access to expansive terrace decks. And every room comes with 7.9-foot ceilings to ensure it feels as spacious and airy as possible.

"In partnership with Four Seasons, we are creating a new category of luxury lifestyle travel that appeals to discerning guests. We are bringing together the very best across industries to create the pinnacle yachting offering through world-class design, curated experiences, and truly exceptional service," Larry Pimentel, a veteran luxury travel industry expert and the man responsible for leading the new enterprise, said. "When we launch in 2025, there will be nothing else like it on the open seas."

Suite accommodations start at an average of 581 square feet of indoor/outdoor living space, and move all the way to its most expansive residence, the "Funnel Suite," which includes four levels spread across 9,601 square feet of combined indoor/outdoor living space. That includes a private wading pool and dedicated private spa area.

Common spaces onboard the boat include its restaurants, lounges, and bar concepts, where the Four Seasons team said guests can find the "perfect cappuccino in the lobby, a Mediterranean-inspired lunch, a dinner tasting at the sushi bar, or a glass of Champagne on the breathtaking terrace." Guests, it added, will never be far from the perfect bite to eat and the ideal drink to sip.

For a moment of relaxation guests can check into the full-service spa, salon, and wellness area, which offers everything from fitness classes to health and nutrition consultations. There's also an outdoor movie theater for watching flicks under the stars, and plenty of deck space for sunbathing on warm days.

Luigi Matarazzo, the general manager merchant ships division of Fincantieri, put it best with this simple statement: "This project is in a class of its own, combining the best of passenger ship construction and yacht design to create a new benchmark for ultra-luxury vessels." Follow the project and be among the first to book here .

Four Seasons' Newly Announced Yacht Will 'Create a Sailing Experience That Doesn’t Currently Exist' in 2025

The hospitality brand just announced its entrance into the world of luxury cruising.

four seasons hotel yacht

The hospitality ecosystem that Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts has been building since it opened its first property in 1961 expands beyond 124 luxury hotels in the world’s most desirable destinations. In 2015, it upped the ante with the Four Seasons Private Jet Experience , whisking discerning travelers on curated itineraries via the brand’s very own private jet. And in the last couple of years, its retail offerings have taken off; fans of the brand can now buy all the trappings of a Four Seasons hotel room, from scents and candles to those devotion-inspiring mattresses. What’s next? You can find out in a few years when the first Four Seasons yacht sets sail in late 2025. “This is something that we’ve been talking about for years, but this is a natural extension of what we’re already doing with our hotels. Now, we’re building the Four Seasons experience on water,” Christian H. Clerc, president of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, tells Travel + Leisure , following a press conference in Monaco announcing the upcoming Four Seasons yacht. “But we just needed to find the right partners. Because the pressure is on us to meet the expectations of what it means for Four Seasons to enter the yacht world.”

Courtesy of Four Seasons

The maiden voyage is still at least three years away, but premier Italian shipbuilding company Fincantieri is now at work on the 679-foot-long, 14-deck yacht in Trieste, Italy. Interiors, which will adopt a tranquil, residential-inspired aesthetic, will be overseen by two globally renowned agencies: Tillberg Design of Sweden , as lead architect for the design of the exterior and guest suites, and London-based Martin Brudnizki Design Studio , who will bring the public areas to life. Marc-Henry Cruise Holdings, LTD is in charge of sales, marketing, marine, and technical operations. “Just like you don’t want us flying the jet ourselves, we’re partnering with experts in the field to make sure that this is going to be the best in the business,” Clerc adds. “But the rest will be managed by Four Seasons. We’re not hiring third parties to do anything, because this is essentially a Four Seasons hotel but on a yacht.”

Ninety-five cabins (with modular walls that can combine some rooms to create enormous suites), 11 restaurants and bars, a spa programed with the most of-the-moment wellness treatments and fitness activities, a multi-use venue that can stage everything from private parties to lectures, and an industry-first transverse marina that will create a beach club–like fantasy similar to what you might experience at Club Dauphin , the iconic seaside hangout at the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat in the Cote d’Azur, France. These are just some of the foundational amenities you can expect from the Four Seasons yacht. The stay is then elevated with service (there will be a one-to-one staff-to-guest ratio on board) and space (the smallest suite will be approximately 580 square feet and each cabin will cost $4.2 million to create, according to Four Seasons). And the showpiece is the Funnel Suite, a four-level cabin measuring 9,600 square feet, featuring plenty of outdoor space, its own wading pool, and a dedicated spa area.

But the guest-first indulgence that Four Seasons offers will extend outside the yacht, too. Itineraries are still being designed, but Clerc reveals that the vessel will follow the sun, sailing the Mediterranean in the summer and wintering in the Caribbean. As often as possible, it will port in destinations where there is an existing Four Seasons property. Given the vessel’s compact size, it is expected to stop in hot spots where larger ships cannot, such as Monaco and Venice.

Four Seasons plans to flip the script on itinerary-based sailings, encouraging guests to instead create the yacht vacation of their dreams. “No one is going to tell you that you need to disembark at 10 a.m. to join a tour with a guide holding up a flag,” Clerc says, insisting that a framework of an itinerary will exist but merely as a suggestion; you can do whatever you want. Do you want a private tour of the Acropolis? No problem. Would you prefer to stay longer in one port then meet the yacht at the next one? Anything is possible. Guests can even stay on board and eat their way through the culinary offerings. There will be a caviar-and-Champagne lounge, a Japanese omakase concept, and a Mediterranean restaurant. “In a week, we can make sure you don’t have the same meal twice," Clerc promises.

Yes, there are buzzy bells and whistles telling you that this is going to be as ground-breaking as most things Four Seasons do, but Clerc says that all of that is built atop the intuitive service the brand is known for. “Our intention is not to enter the world of cruising,” Clerc says. “What we’re hoping to do with the yacht is create a sailing experience that doesn’t currently exist but through which our guests can see the world through the Four Seasons lens.”

Four Seasons is launching a luxury yacht experience in 2025, and it's as glamorous as you'd expect

Four Seasons is launching a luxury yacht experience in 2025 and it's as glamorous as you'd expect

The arrival of a new Four Seasons will always resound farther than its new neighbourhood and this latest addition is no different – except now the whispers extend to the seas.

Four Seasons is taking its award-winning service to the ocean with the launch of Four Seasons Yachts , “appealing to discerning guests looking to reimagine their love of travel by experiencing the splendour of modern sea voyaging." Anticipated to set sail in late 2025, bespoke voyages will carve through the sea to some of the world’s most breathtaking destinations. The vessel will be led and staffed by a dedicated team, with staff outnumbering guests.

Four Seasons is launching a luxury yacht experience in 2025 and it's as glamorous as you'd expect

The first of a fleet of Four Seasons Yachts, currently being built in Trieste, Italy , will span 14 decks and include 95 suites. True to Four Seasons fashion, the boat is as splashy as they come – each custom-designed suite costs about £4 million to build. With “ultimate privacy, flexibility and spaciousness” in mind, the adaptable joining combinations seamlessly integrated into each suite will create villa-like estates in a nautical residential setting. The floor-to-ceiling windows in each room are all about those unobstructed riviera views, while the generous indoor-outdoor space – by way of an expansive private terrace deck – is the spot for sundowners. Accommodation will start at an average of 581 square feet (54 square metres) with the roomiest – a four-level suite named the “Funnel” – offering more than 9,601 square feet (892 square metres; bigger than the average British home) and completed with a private wading pool and spa area.

Restaurants, lounges and bars have been carefully considered, from expertly made coffee to meticulously plated sushi or a glass of Champagne on deck. The yacht will be equipped with a full-service spa, salon and wellness programme, the pool can transform into an outdoor movie theatre or event space, and the transverse marina will also make the perfect spot to soak in the sun or dive bomb into the warm waters.

Placing sustainability at its forefront, the vessel will use green energy fuels, zero-emission energy sources, and air emissions far better than international standards. There are further plans to integrate more state-of-the-art green technologies down the line.

Along with Four Seasons, there are a few notable masterminds behind the exciting new venture. World-leading shipbuilding group, Fincantieri, will bring its groundbreaking engineering and technology to craft the finest vessels for Four Seasons Yachts with industry expert Larry Pimentel, and luxury entrepreneurs Nadim Ashi and Philip Levine also heading the project.  Lead architects Tillberg Design of Sweden and London-based Martin Brudnizki Design Studio (who’s worked with fly-high places such as Annabel’s and many of London’s best restaurants ) will oversee the exteriors and suite designs, with creative direction from Prosper Assouline.

Since Four Seasons Yachts is still a way from its maiden voyage, details on itineraries are still yet to be confirmed but rumours of sun-soaked journeys through the Mediterranean and Caribbean are on the horizon. Costing will vary with individual itineraries and will only be announced once reservations open in the third quarter of 2023.

This isn’t the first time the Toronto -based luxury hospitality group has dipped its toes in the water, having launched Four Seasons Explorer cruises many years ago, and with 124 hotels and resorts already in the portfolio, the new venture “represents the next chapter of its long history of industry-leading innovation, and a milestone moment for the company” says Christian Clerc, President of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts .

What's the latest way for high-end hotel brands to expand their reach? Apparently, it's launching a fleet of luxury yachts to rival the upscale cruise lines for intimate experiences, fine dining, elegant accommodations and personalized service.

Ritz-Carlton plans to debut its first yacht this fall, and on Wednesday, Sept. 28, Four Seasons announced its newest project, Four Seasons Yachts, which is expected to deliver its first vessel by the end of 2025.

"Four Seasons Yachts represents the next chapter of our long history of industry-leading innovation, and a milestone moment for our company as we continue to capitalize on new opportunities to extend the world of Four Seasons," said Christian Clerc, president of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, in a company statement.

This isn't the first time the brand has expanded beyond hotels. It already offers the Four Seasons Private Jet Experience , as well as a yacht that offers three- to seven-night cruises from and between the brand's two properties in the Maldives.

Partners on board

Four Seasons is collaborating with established cruise industry partners to give this new venture every chance for success.

The ships will be designed by Tillberg Design of Sweden (responsible for the ultra-lavish Regent Suite on Seven Seas Splendor) and Martin Brudnizki Design Studio.

They will be built by established Italian shipbuilders Fincantieri, operated by Marc-Henry Cruise Holdings (co-led by luxury entrepreneurs Nadim Ashi and Philip Levine) and helmed by Larry Pimentel (a veteran in the luxury cruise marketplace who has led such lines as Azamara, Seabourn and SeaDream Yacht Club).

Yacht details

The first ship, currently dubbed Four Seasons Yacht, will debut at the end of 2025, and Four Seasons has options for two more vessels.

The 14-deck yacht will feature 95 suites that can be combined into expansive indoor-outdoor living spaces. While accommodations start at 581 square feet, more than half the suites will offer 818 square feet or more of combined indoor and outdoor living space.

The showstopper will be the Funnel Suite, a four-level, 9,601-square-foot suite with a private pool and spa that could give Regent Seven Seas Cruises' Regent Suite (voted the most spectacular suite by TPG) a run for its money.

Other luxurious touches will include a 1 to 1 guest-to-staff ratio; a spa and salon, complete with wellness programming; a large pool deck that can double as a special event space and alfresco movie theater; and bars and restaurants that will stay true to Four Seasons' history of culinary innovation.

The yacht will also boast what Four Seasons calls an "industry-first transverse marina," running port to starboard, where passengers can enjoy water sports and toys or sunbathe from the ship.

"We are creating something extraordinary that combines their expertise with what Four Seasons does best — delivering unmatched quality and excellence, surrounded by beautiful acts of service and love for our guests," said Clerc.

Ritz-Carlton yacht updates

Yachting and hotel fans are likely wondering how the new Four Seasons Yacht will compare to the much-anticipated Evrima, the first yacht on offer from the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection .

That company has also partnered with Tillberg Design to imagine its suites, but the smallest start at 367 square feet (including interior and balcony space) and the largest caps out at 1,091 square feet with a 635-square-foot balcony. Evrima will carry 298 passengers, compared with Four Seasons' 190 guests. It will also have a full-service spa and fitness center and an aft marina for complimentary water activities.

Unlike Four Seasons, which has partnered with renowned shipyard Fincantieri to build the ship, Ritz-Carlton initially contracted with Hijos de J. Barreras, a shipyard in Vigo, Spain, not known for building cruise ships. Due to problems with that facility and increasing delays, the yacht was moved to the Astander shipyard, also in Spain, for completion.

Evrima's next two sister ships will be built by Chantiers de l'Atlantique in St. Nazaire, France, a shipyard with experience building cruise ships. Evrima is currently 33 months behind schedule .

Expect Four Seasons to reveal more details of its new project in the coming months as design plans are finished and building begins. The brand seems confident that its foray into yachting will turn heads and change the industry.

"We are creating a new category of luxury lifestyle travel that appeals to discerning guests. We are bringing together the very best across industries to create the pinnacle yachting offering through world-class design, curated experiences and truly exceptional service," said Pimentel. "When we launch in 2025, there will be nothing else like it on the open seas."

For our part, we can't wait to learn more.

“We’re known for creating exceptional experiences,” said Christian Clerc, president of Four Seasons hotels and resorts. “We plan to expand Four Seasons even further with an incredible yachting experience.”

Four Seasons Yacht

Clerc told Robb Report that the yacht concept, which has been in the works for two years, came partly as a result of the Four Seasons Private Jet program , which brings its members to different parts of the world on a converted, 48-seat Airbus A321neo-LR. “We have an incredible 30 percent return rate from those trips,” said Clerc. “It’s one of our most important touchpoints for the modern Four Seasons brand.”

The new yacht is designed with 96 suites, which start at 581 square feet. These can be transitioned to 56 larger suites through a series of modular sliding walls. Clerc said whole decks can be converted to private residences for families or individual groups.

The experience will certainly be different from chartering or owning a private superyacht, which typically sleeps only 12 people, with a crew catering to the group for the week. Itineraries on superyachts are also flexible.

four seasons hotel yacht

The company says its relatively smaller size, compared to traditional cruise ships, will give it access to areas where cruise ships are forbidden.

It’s not clear how, depending on a given week, 112 to 196 passengers will experience the same levels of intimacy as a conventional yacht. Clerc says the 1:1 ratio of crew to guests as well as the private setup will add to the experience. “It’s going to have the lowest density out there on a space-per-person basis,” he says. “We’ll also have an itinerary created just for each client. So if you’re there with your family, you’ll have your own driver, restaurant experiences, etc. You don’t have to include other people outside your group unless you want to.”

“When you’re on a superyacht, you’re a bit at the mercy of the crew who have multiple jobs, so the experience can range widely,” adds Marc Speichert, Four Seasons’ chief commercial officer. “What you get with us is the excellence of Four Seasons on a yacht.”

Per-person costs should be similar to chartering a 200- to 250-foot yacht, says Clerc, though a pricing schedule has yet to be finalized. Four Seasons will open booking late next year for the boat’s 2025 summer launch. The vessel is expected to cost about $1.16 billion, or an average of $4.35 million per suite.

Fincantieri, an Italian shipyard with experience in commercial ships, superyachts and military vessels, will be the builder. The build schedule will include three vessels. More will follow during a 15-year period, said Larry Pimentel, CEO of Marc-Henry Cruise Holdings. Pimental’s firm is in charge of sales, marketing, marine and technical operations, while Four Seasons is in charge of the guest hospitality experience on the vessel and on land with shore experiences.

The Four Seasons vessel is joining competitor Ritz-Carlton’s Yacht Collection . The hotelier announced plans five years ago to move into the yachting sector, though the vessel launch has been delayed by two years. Ritz-Carlton said Evrima, the first vessel of its long-delayed Yacht Collection, completed sea trials in June.

Four Seasons is also currently going through a rebrand called “Luxury is Our Love Language,” based on stories gathered from guests. “It’s all about creating a meaningful sense of belonging through the elegance of empathy,” said Speichert, adding that its new yacht collection should be a concrete example of the rebranding effort.
