RIVERBOATS MUSIC FESTIVAL Announces line up for 2023

Updated: Nov 22, 2022

riverboat music festival 2023

Multi-award winning Riverboats Music Festival has today announced the lineup for its 2023 event, scheduled to take place at a new temporary location at Echuca’s Victoria Park Reserve from February 17-19, 2023. Staged on Yorta Yorta country, Riverboats 2023 will present performances by Marlon Williams (NZ), Spiderbait, C.W. Stoneking & His Primitive Horn Orchestra, The Rolling Stones Revue featuring Adalita, Phil Jamieson & Tex Perkins, The Whitlams, Felix Riebl, Alice Skye, Tami Neilson (NZ), Thornbird, Katy Steele, Andy Golledge Band, WILSN, Bones & Jones, Watty Thompson, Bud Rokesky and MC Brian Nankervis (Rockwiz). The new venue is a notable modification to this year's program. The festival's traditional home at Aquatic Reserve on the banks of the Murray River has transformed into a natural wetland as a result of region's recent flooding, resulting in a temporary relocation for Riverboats' 11th instalment. " Echuca-Moama has gone through an incredibly challenging period over the last few weeks, and our hearts go out to all those affected by the recent floods. Riverboats has been part of the Echuca-Moama community for over 10 years now, and whilst we're sad to be leaving Aquatic Reserve next year, we can't wait to put on a spectacular show at Victoria Park in a few months time " says Festival Director Dave Frazer. In partnership with Murray River Paddlesteamers, Riverboats 2023 will once again offer a limited series of intimate sideshows aboard the historic PS Pevensey paddlesteamer. Music fans will be given the opportunity to cruise down the river to the soundtrack of Alice Skye, Felix Riebl, Andy Golledge, WILSN, Bones & Jones and Watty Thompson . Having sold out in just six days last year, tickets to Riverboats 2023 are likely to be in high demand. Access to the family-friendly event start from just $75 and traditionally move very quickly following the program announcement. Dave Frazer reflects, “ Riverboats will once again deliver a remarkable lineup of Australian artists in 2023, with some award-winning Kiwi's thrown in for good measure. To be able to present international acts of the calibre of Marlon Williams alongside homegrown legends including Spiderbait, The Whitlams and C.W. Stoneking is a truly exciting thing, and we can't wait to get back to Echuca-Moama in a few months' time ”

Marlon Williams, Spiderbait and CW Stoneking Will Headline the 2023 Riverboats Music Festival

As well as the main event in Victoria's Echuca-Moama region, this festival includes intimate sideshows on the PS Pevensey paddlesteamer.

Marlon Williams, Spiderbait and CW Stoneking Will Headline the 2023 Riverboats Music Festival

With music festivals popping up in every corner of the country with frequency, especially in these post-COVID-restrictions times, an event has to be mighty special to warrant travelling intrastate or interstate. Riverboats Music Festival is one such event, and the reason is right there in its name. A mainstay of Victoria's Echuca-Moama region that'll celebrate its 11th instalment in 2023, it usually hosts its fest on the banks of the Murray River — and includes intimate sideshows on the PS Pevensey paddlesteamer.

Due to 2022's flooding of the event's usual home at Aquatic Reserve, the 2023 fest is actually moving to Echuca's Victoria Park Reserve when it returns from Friday, February 17–Sunday, February 19. But the music on a riverboat part still remains, as ticketed separately. So, you can head to the region for three days of tunes as part of the broader event, spend your time on the river, or mix and match both.

riverboat music festival 2023

Heading the on-land lineup: Marlon Williams, Spiderbait, CW Stoneking & His Primitive Horn Orchestra and The Whitlams, plus The Rolling Stones Revue featuring Adalita, Phil Jamieson and Tex Perkins. That's a whole heap of big-name talent from across Australia and New Zealand right there, and it's just the beginning of the 2023 bill.

Also on the roster, and playing the paddlesteamer as well, are Alice Skye, Felix Riebl, Andy Golledge, WILSN, Bones & Jones and Watty Thompson. If you go for the boat option, you'll hear their sets while cruising down the river, in the kind of fest experience you truly don't get at every event.

"Echuca-Moama has gone through an incredibly challenging period over the last few weeks, and our hearts go out to all those affected by the recent floods," said Festival Director Dave Frazer, announcing the lineup.

"Riverboats has been part of the Echuca-Moama community for over tehn years now, and whilst we're sad to be leaving Aquatic Reserve next year, we can't wait to put on a spectacular show at Victoria Park in a few months time," he continued.

If you're keen, the last festival sold out in just six days, so nabbing tickets ASAP is recommended.

All Aboard For Riverboats Music Festival

The Riverboats Music Festival is set to welcome thousands of visitors to Echuca for a weekend of music and entertainment along the Murray River, with backing from the Andrews Labor Government.

The Labor Government is supporting the Riverboats Music Festival through its $20 million Regional Events Fund and the $8 million Live Music Restart program to help deliver a fantastic event at this year’s temporary location at Victoria Park Reserve.

Founded in 2012, the festival is celebrating its 11th anniversary this year with a stellar line-up including Marlon Williams, Spiderbait, C.W. Stoneking and His Primitive Horn Orchestra, The Rolling Stones Revue featuring Adalita, Phil Jamieson & Tex Perkins, The Whitlams, Felix Riebl, Alice Skye, Tami Neilson, and more.

Riverboats has grown to become the largest outdoor music festival on the Murray River, attracting more than 6,000 people to Echuca-Moama annually and injecting an estimated $17.5 million into the regional economy since its inception.

Festival goers will have the opportunity to cruise down the Murray River whilst enjoying a series of live performances aboard the region’s historic paddlesteamer fleet throughout the weekend.

The festival program allows time for attendees to experience the region’s tourism offerings including resorts, wineries, retail stores and restaurants, which helps to spread the economic benefits throughout the region.

The Regional Events Fund promotes a strong calendar of regional events that work to attract visitors to regional Victoria, boost employment and drive growth which helps our local communities to thrive.

The Riverboats Music Festival runs until Sunday, 19 February 2023. For more information, visit the website, riverboatsmusic.com.au.

Beatlemania heads to Louisville with Abbey Road on the River music festival. What to know

riverboat music festival 2023

The road is not so "long" or for that matter "winding" for Beatles fans heading to the 2023 Abbey Road on the River . In fact, it's a straight shot from downtown Louisville to Jeffersonville, Indiana where the world’s largest tribute to The Fab Four will be held May 25-29.

Fans of music from the 60s and 70s will be twisting and shouting throughout the five-day event, held at  The Big Four Station Park . More than 50 bands will perform 200 concerts on six stages. Featured artists include Micky Dolenz, The Voice of the Monkees , Tony Kishman, Classicstone, and BritBeat .

"The Beatles are still the biggest story in music almost 60 years after their American debut, and we are proud to be part of the enduring legacy of Beatlemania," said Gary Jacob, Abbey Road on the River festival producer. "We’re also extremely grateful for our loyal fans and local partnerships."

The festival will also feature a playground area for children, Beatles merchandise and craft vendors, interactive art installations, and food and bar services.
