▶ ▷ Start your journey in Cienfuegos or Casilda and sail southeast on the Caribbean to Montego Bay, Jamaica. ▶ ▷ Stop at the Cayman Islands on the way for a relaxing break from sailing, or enjoy the solitude of the open water on your way down to Jamaica. ▶ ▷ Take in some delicious Jamaican food, listen to live music, and go for a romantic ride on horseback on some of Jamaica’s breathtaking beaches. CUBA - Sailing Conditions and Clima

Cuba’s location primarily south of the Tropic of Cancer gives the country a tropical climate . The average temperature for the month of July is a comfortable 80.6ºF (27ºC) and for January is a mild 69.8ºF (21ºC). This makes Cuba an ideal sailing destination throughout the year . The climate is due in part to the consistently warm Caribbean waters that bring warm water north from the Equator.

Cuba enjoys northeasterly trade winds throughout the year, which not only help keep the island warm, but also will keep your sails working. For those looking to charter a sailing yacht and use only wind power, Cuba is a lovely, consistently windy place perfectly suited for a sailboat cruisers.

Because the island is warm throughout the year, it is probably best to visit between the months of November and April. The island enjoys a drier season in the winter and spring months, which means calmer waters for you to sail on and more hours of sunshine for you to enjoy. The rainy season begins in May, but possibly the worst time to charter a yacht in Cuba is when the waters of the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea combine, and can make hurricanes form. The peak of hurricane season is September and October, so it is best to avoid the area during those months.

Best Time to Charter in Cuba: mid-November through mid-August

While the best time for a yacht charter in Cuba is from December to April, when it’s slightly cooler, the timing of your trip depends entirely on where you want to go.

Whether you want to dance the night away in Havana or spend your days lounging on Cuba’s beautiful beaches, Cuba has so much to do and see. And to make sure you check off all the things on your vacation bucket list when planning your next yacht charter escape to Cuba, make sure you pick the time of year that works best with your itinerary.

Winter Winter is among the best months to visit Cuba — with December, January, and February promising sunny days and cooler temperatures overall. This climate is great for sightseeing. That said, keep in mind that sea breezes at this cooler time of year may make it too cold for some fair-weather travelers; especially for those who plan to spend their days at the beach.

Spring Above all, the best time of the year to visit Cuba is in March and April. These months fall immediately between cooler winter temperatures and summer’s rain and heat, making it the time of year when the climate is most pleasant. That said, the further south and east you go, the more heat, humidity and rain you can expect. This is definitely the most popular time of year in Cuba, so if you’re planning to charter a yacht there, book your tours and excursions well in advance, before they fill up.

Summer Summer rain in Cuba starts in late April and early May, with June to November bringing heavier downpours, storms and once in a while, even a hurricane. As well as being stormy, July and August are also very humid and hot, especially in the more popular cities, like Havana, which you will definitely want to visit.

Fall From August to the end of fall, Cuba — like most of the Caribbean — is most likely to be affected by hurricanes. Yacht charter guests should be careful when planning a trip at this time of year and make sure they have their trip cancellation insurance in place.

Cuba Yacht Charters – Things to Do & See

Sandy beach in Cuba

For reasons we can’t explain, magical Cuba draws you in and doesn’t let you go. On your next yacht charter adventure at sea, discover the magic for yourself.

Cuba is filled with magnificent, sugary-sand beaches

From the ivory, sands shores of Playa Ancón, a water sports hub just minutes from vibrant Trinidad, to the vast, glistening sands of Playa Paraíso and Playa Sirena, Cuba yacht charters take you to plenty of magical beaches to choose from. Looking for something a little quieter, with more space to relax in solitude? Head to the Bay of Pigs. With its rocky coves, clear waters and endless rows of swaying palms, this beach is as historic as it is beautiful.

Havana is a bustling world of its own

There’s no denying that Old Havana is a cultural destination. Perfect for every type of yacht charter guest, Havana is the heart of this iconic island; home to everything from the propaganda-heavy Museum of the Revolution and the swanky Vedado jazz district, to its famous cigars, salsa clubs, the Cuban National Ballet, interesting locals and more. The sounds of Havana, and of all of Cuba, are reason enough to visit. Music in Cuba always gets people on their feet.

You won’t be able to get enough of Cuba’s delicious, hearty food

If you haven’t had Cuban food, you’re missing out — and no one does it quite like the island itself. Cuban staples include ropa vieja, a stewed and shredded beef; ceviche, a lime-marinated raw fish; light, flaky Cuban bread; cafesito; minty, rum-filled mojitos and more. Ask your yacht’s chef to prepare Cuban cuisine for you and your charter guests and also head onshore and try some local restaurants.

Cuba offers a peek into a complicated history

As rampant as Cuban politics have been, its towns have been that much more beautiful. A colonial haven, Cuba’s UNESCO cities are still a throwback to the pirate days of the Caribbean, where grandiose squares and cobblestone streets are lined with colorful shops, restaurants, and homes. Head outside of the cities, and you’ll find emerald hills sloping into vast tobacco plantations, the core of one of its most historic exports: Cuban cigars.

It’s time to experience all of the charm and magic of luxury Cuba yacht charters.

Cuba awaits; book your yacht rental with us today!

Amanda - The crew and guides were amazing. The boat is the best I saw in Galapagos. It’s a complete renovation, and if they had gone the extra mile in the interior it would have paid off. That said, this isn’t a Mediterranean trip and for what it was, the whole thing was exceptional. Well done. I think they truly enjoyed having us on board also, which helped a lot the overall trip feel. One thing is for sure. After diving in Galapagos, I no longer needed to ask whether there were any sharks under the boat…Whole eco system completely intact. Totally wonderful. My dad was ecstatic. Really a dream Part 2 from Dad: Dear Amanda, thank you so much for your efforts in making our visit to the Galapagos such a success. I have dreamed of going there for the past 60 years since my university days. It was beyond anything I had imagined and thanks to family generosity I was able to share the experience with three generations of my family. The MY Passion was perfect for our requirements. The captain and crew were splendid, providing safety and comfort with cheerful efficiency. My daughter-in-law advised the chef that we wished to enjoy Ecuadorian food and this inspired the chef to demonstrate her extraordinary talent. The food was exceptional. Our guide, Fernando, has a remarkable knowledge of the wildlife and geology of the islands and of Darwin’s writings about them. He added his own dimension to the success of the trip. I was delighted that Robert was able to enjoy his scuba dives with a knowledgeable local dive master whom we both instantly trusted. The photos the dive master took of the dives are breathtaking. My last memory of the wildlife was of a waved albatross picking up speed as it ran, over uneven ground, flapping its long graceful wings as it took off out over the ocean. Per ardua ad astra, through hardships to the heavens…. Thank you for your part in a visit that will continue to live with me. Kindest regards. MY PASSION / June / Galapagos

Cuba Charter Destinations

Yacht charter destination cuba experience.

Dreaming of a trip to beautiful Cuba? A luxury yacht charter is the perfect way to see the island. Experience art, culture and the historic charm of Old Havana’s stunning colonial architecture. You’ll also fall in love with Cuba’s exquisite beaches and some of the world’s best offshore cruising.

Take the once forbidden voyage from South Florida to Cuba in the ultimate symbol of success – a world-class motor yacht – and spend a night or two at the famed Marina Hemingway. In Cienfuegos, the “Beautiful city of the sea,” enjoy authentic Cuban food amid colonial estates and centuries-old fortresses.

What makes Cuba truly exceptional are the Cubans themselves. Enjoy the privilege of engaging with people who live just 90 miles from Key West, but who’ve been separated from the U.S. by a half-century of politics.

Encounter up to seven UNESCO world heritage sites in one trip, including the historic centers of Camaguey, Trinidad, and Old Havana, as well as the Jardines de la Reina Marine Park – one of the world’s best-preserved marine areas home to more species of fish, sharks, turtles, and birds than practically anywhere else.

South of the mainland, discover the smaller islands of Cuba, like Cayo Largo – home to what is widely regarded as one of the top beaches on earth. And for diving aficionados who happen to appreciate history, the Bay of Pigs is a can’t-miss stop.

If this sounds like your type of vacation, 26 North Yachts offers a range of yachts for charter in Cuba. With a crew of experienced professionals on board, you can sit back and relax while enjoying the comfort and amenities of your yacht.

Hint: Expect demand for our Cuban charter experiences to be sky high once the door opens. Contact us now to book your place in history.

Itineraries, explore cuba.

A yacht charter to Cuba is very much like taking a step back in time. It’s a country that, at least in appearance, has remained largely unchanged since the mid-20th century.

Our yacht charter base in Cienfuegos

Platten sailing cuban s.a. calle 35, % 6 y 8, marina cienfuegos punta gorda, 55100 cienfuegos, cuba.

More information can be found on our page our base .

Cienfuegos the pearl of the south

Our base in Cienfuegos offers all the services of a modern marina as a base for your sailing trip, but also the liveliness of a normal Cuban city, a hinterland with a varied offer in culture and nature, but without the seclusion of a "tourist ghetto". La Perla del Sur, the pearl of the south , this nickname carries the city quite rightly. The location on a ten nautical miles deep, highly articulated bay with a few hundred meters wide driveway makes Cienfuegos an important port. The trading port - above all sugar is exported from here and imported oil - is second only to Havana. Nevertheless, the city retains the beauty of its unique location and a rich architectural heritage, especially from the 19th century. The Teatro Tomás Terry, where Caruso has already performed, and the Palacio de Valle, villa of a turn-of-the-century Mudejar industrialist that is accessible to everyone as a restaurant, are among Cuba's most famous architectural monuments.

UNESCO World Heritage Site

Since July 2005, the historic center of Cienfuegos around the Parque Martí has been included in the list of World Heritage Sites by UNESCO as an excellently preserved example of a 19th century colonial town.

What Choose

Sailing boat or Catamaran, what to sail in Cuba

Choosing the perfect vessel for your Cuban sailing adventure with Yachting.Rent is a vital part of your journey. Whether you’re drawn to the traditional elegance of a sailing boat or the luxurious comfort of a catamaran, we have the perfect option to suit your needs.

Sailing boats, with their classic design and responsive handling, offer a genuine sailing experience. They’re perfect for those seeking the thrill of harnessing the wind to navigate Cuba’s warm, azure waters. Sailing boats also offer greater speed and agility, making them ideal for exploring Cuba’s many secluded coves and islands.

On the other hand, catamarans provide a unique set of advantages. Their dual-hull design offers exceptional stability, making them ideal for those who prefer a smoother sailing experience. With over 1,500 miles of coastline, Cuba is the biggest Caribbean country, and the Cuban archipelago itself comprises of over 4,000 cays and islands. With the exception of bespoke superyacht charters , most Cuba yacht charters are on the extensive south coast and begin and end in Marina Cienfuegos. Within a week or two's sailing holiday you will find around 20 marinas and moorings - with plenty to explore on land and sea.

The communist Republic of Cuba has one of the least developed yacht charter industries in the Caribbean. That means you can dodge the crowds and enjoy a more authentic vacation.

You can enjoy some fabulous scuba diving and snorkelling on a Cuba yacht charter. The coral reefs are protected and you will encounter a wide array of marine life. Miles of totally untouched white sandy beaches round this off as a perfect escape from the realities of home.

In cities like Havana and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Trinidad, you will get the vibe of the people in all their character and fun.

Cuba is one of the most authentic yacht charter destinations in the Caribbean. It is such a unique country for a sailing holiday, so book your Cuba boat hire with Borrow a Boat today!

Hiring A Yacht In Cuba

On a skippered or crewed yacht charter you need no sailing qualifications for a Cuba sailing holiday. Those on a bareboat charter need to be aware of some differences to sailing elsewhere on the Caribbean Sea.

Every time you enter a port you need to report in to the port authorities. This costs you nothing but this is the law. It is a minor but necessary bit of bureaucracy that comes with the territory.

Night sailing is forbidden on a boat rental. This is due to the poorly charted coral heads inshore that can catch you out even in the daytime, when sailing during the day you need to keep an eye on the depth sounder at all times.

You can moor off a beach for lunch and enjoy the coastline. Just be aware of areas that are designated 'military zones' on the charts as you don't want to annoy the authorities. The Bay of Pigs is a classic example where you shouldn't even try to land.

Do be aware that satellite phones are illegal and you are not allowed to use your personal GPS on Cuban waters - that includes your smartphone's apps.

Getting to Cuba

The Havana Jose Marti International Airport (HAV) has airlines flying in from all over the world. There are also direct flights from Florida so a connection can be made from Miami onto Havana.

From there the yacht charter company will arrange your connection to Marina Cienfuegos or another charter base should you be on a bespoke sailing holiday. It takes roughly three hours each way by shuttlebus.

Best Areas To Charter

Cuba's South Coast is the main sailing area for Cuba yacht charters. Generally based in Marina Cienfuegos you will then be able to explore the cays, atolls and islands as well as the beautiful coastline of the largest island. The endless sandy beaches are something you just won't find elsewhere as they are genuinely deserted and you will have all the space you want should you seek it.

The marinas along the south coast are often near attractions and while ashore you should explore inland as you get the chance, perhaps jumping in a taxi that's as old as your mother. If you have a tase for rum, Havana Club is some of the best in the Caribbean and should you enjoy abusing nicotine you can't get better than a Cuban cigar!

Best Towns To Charter A Yacht In Cuba

Though Havana has a marina, Cienfuegos is the main base for Cuba yacht charters. This is around three hours by shuttlebus from Havana. It sits on a large lagoon next to the Cienaga de Zapata National Park and from here you can explore the cays, islands and breathtaking coastlines nearby.

Types Of Yachts To Hire

There are three broad types of charter - bareboat charter, flotilla charters, and skippered yacht charter. Where it comes to the types of charter boat you can hire a motor boat , a monohull sailing yacht , a catamaran , a superyacht or a luxury yachtcharter as-well as RIBs or day boats. Each have their benefits.

Coming in all shapes and sizes from 7 metres to 70+ metres, motorboats are as different as their uses. A seven metre RIB will be a great day boat and can be hired for as little as €110 a day for fishing trips or just blasting about the bay. The 15 metre plus size of motor yacht will have cabins and often en suite heads and cost upwards of €400 a day.

Starting from €10,000 a day a superyacht will come with skipper and crew as part of the package. On the crewed motor yacht or sailboat you will be served with five star service both in service as well as out on deck, with most having its own fleet of tenders and water toys, such as jet skis and even sailing yachts!

Luxury Yacht Charter

Coming with or without skipper and/or crew, a luxury charter yacht will cost upwards of €700 a day and will come fully fitted out with all the modern conveniences and comforts of the very best sailing craft afloat. Expect en suite heads and comfortable staterooms but also a lot of fun under sail!

Starting at €450 a day, catamarans are luxury yachts that offer lots of space, a fair lick of speed on a reach and a shallow draft for mooring close into shore. They have twin engines in the hulls so while large they are incredibly manoeuvrable when in marinas and so forth.

Monohull Sailing Yacht

Ranging in size from 10 metres up to 20 or so, monohull sailing yachts form the backbone of the Cuba yacht charter industry. Very good to windward, you will find yourself chewing up the miles at all points of sail without relying on the engines. Costing as little as €120 a day you will enjoy comfort and fun for a good budget price.

Skippered Yacht charter or Bareboat?

Where it comes to a Cuba yacht charter you have two choices - bareboat or crewed yacht charter. Both have their own advantages.

Crewed charter

No sailing qualifications or not confident enough to bareboat charter yourself? That's no problem when it comes to yacht charter - you can take on a skipper and crew for the week or two touring Cuban waters! With a crewed yacht charter you have someone aboard who knows the ropes and the best places to visit on your sailing holiday. They will know the best spots for what you want, be it hideaway restaurants or the best diving and snorkelling reefs on the islands! Costing as little as €100 a day (depending on the size and type of vessel) you will get the very best from your yacht charter holiday with one aboard. Don't forget the tip at the end of the week!

Bareboat yacht charter

A competent sailor? Have the qualifications required? Dreaming all year of casting off and exploring the Cuban coastline and islands with just you and your friends? A bareboat yacht charter is just the thing for you. This is cheaper than a skippered yacht charter but you also get the privacy of being in your chosen group without a stranger in your midst. You get to choose your own adventure and go at your own pace - not a bad thing for a holiday to recharge your batteries.

Do be mindful of the Cuban laws and regulations around entering ports and night sailing - this is absolute and you shouldn't play havoc with the authorities.

Do you need a licence to charter in Cuba?

If you want to bareboat charter you will need an approved boating qualification, below is a list of relevant qualifications:

International Certificate of Competence (ICC): Standard European Qualification for bareboat sailing

ASA 104 Bareboat certificate : The American Sailing Association's skipper standard qualification for hiring bareboatyachts.

RYA: The Royal Yachting Association's qualifications (minimum Day Skipper level) is necessary for bareboat hire, it's also worthwhile seeing do you need to have done a VHF radio course as well as some private yacht owners will require this.

There are also many other European national boating qualifications that are accepted here too, it's worthwhile checking these details before hiring.

If you want a skippered boat rental as a charter yacht then you don't need any sailing certification at all, you just turn up and off you go.

Best Times To Hire

Unlike Europe, the sailing season in Cuba runs from November to May - perfect for a dose of winter sun. The NE Trades are settled and you will encounter weather between 25-35 degrees C.

Within this period, March and April after the winter northerlies have passed are cooler yet the sailing is just as fun as the rest of the year. Cuba is after all a tropical country!

For those who want to try something a little outside their comfort zone, August and September are said to be the very best sailing months of all.

There's a problem with this - many yacht charter fleets will not be in the area thanks to hurricane season that runs between July and October. If booked and a hurricane is on its way your holiday will be cancelled. There is no minimising the danger of being in the region in a hurricane - and with the general trend for ever fiercer storms, it is not an experience to even risk being around for.

The Climate

North East Trade Winds : Similar to those of the Canary Islands, these are regular and can get up to F6-F7 at times, but steady and predictable. That can make for exciting sailing conditions at times.

How much does it cost for a Cuban Charter

There's almost a yacht for every budget when it comes to chartering. For US $120 a day - $840 a week - you can take a sailboat monohull out with five other adults. That is going to be cheaper than a week in a hotel for everyone.

Catamarans are slightly more expensive - you can expect to pay anything from $500 to $2,000 a day depending on the season.

Motor boats taken on a bareboat basis can cost as little as $500 a day if they have sleeping accommodation - much less if they are day boats.

RIBs can cost as little as $50 for an afternoon.

In each of the examples above you can take on a skipper starting at $150 a day depending on what the vessel is and their required qualifications to sailit.

Superyachts and luxury yachts carry a much larger price tag - expect to pay $15,000 a day and up to $100,000 a day for the higher end of the yacht market.

Explore Cuba By Renting A Yacht

Nestled at between the US and South America and where the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean meet, the Cuban archipelago is a sailing destination with a difference. It is determined to remain independent from nearby capitalist overlords and as such is refreshing and rebellious with its culture vibrant and beautiful. For those seeking a genuine sailing adventure without travelling halfway around the world to get there, a Cuba yacht charter is one of the best opportunities available. Book your sailing holiday with Borrow a Boat today!

Is Yacht hire in Cuba Legal?

Cuba yacht charters are legal, and an important source of foreign currency for the country. Do be aware of the local laws and regulations such as having to report in to the authorities when you make landfall.

What kind of Yachts can I hire in Cuba

You can charter everything from a small motor boat to a large superyacht . Monohull sailing yachts are common, though catamarans are more comfortable and spacious metre for metre.

What should I consider when hiring a Yacht?

Your budget for the sailing holiday should come first. Travelling - both getting there and what destinations to explore. What do you enjoy on a Cuba yacht charter? Work out your itinerary from there. Who are you taking with you and what are your limitations as a sailor?

What are the best time to hire a Yacht in Cuba?

The Cuban sailing season runs from November to April. Do try to get afloat outside of the school holidays.

Do you have to pay a deposit when hiring a Yacht in Cuba?

There are two deposits to consider. Firstly you will normally have to pay a 50% deposit on booking. This secures your trip. On arrival you will have to pay a refundable security deposit for the trip on your credit card though you can get yacht charter insurance - though non-refundable this can be cheaper.

What happens if my Yacht breaks down?

If you are at sea and in danger, call MAYDAY on VHF Ch16. If you have a mechanical fault and can make it to/are on a mooring you will be able to phone a number given by the yacht charter company.

What should I think of before I hire a Yacht in Cuba?

Do you have the experience to handle the yacht charter you want to book? Where do you want to go?

Do I need a visa to visit Cuba?

All tourists must have a Cuba Tourist Card that allows one entry and one departure in 30 days. This can be extended in-country a further 30 days and you are allowed to remain a maximum of 60 days. You can only get your Cuba Tourist Card from your country's embassy.

The main points to consider are what is your budget, have you got the necessary sailing experience and qualifications to manage the boat if it's not going to have a skipper, whom you are taking sailing, where exactly you wish to go and what will the weather be like on the proposed dates of your trip.

You will typically pay 50% up front on booking the yacht hire and the balance on arrival. You will either pay a security deposit with your credit card on departure or can get insurance covering damage in advance. In some cases (such as the recent Covid situation) charter companies may be more flexible but this depends on the individual charter companies themselves.

If you are at sea and in danger, call MAYDAY on VHF Ch16 or ring the coast guard on your phone if you have reception. If you have a mechanical fault and can make it to or are on a mooring you will be able to phone a help line number given by the boat charter company.

You should consider do you have the experience to handle the yacht charter or boat rental before you book and where do you want to go along with what the weather will be like. Bring warm weather and cool weather clothing if it looks like the weather can be cool as well as warm and remember at sea it can be cool on most evenings.

If you want to sail without a captain then you will need relevant qualifications like RYA Day Skipper/International Certificate of Competence (ICC)/ASA 104 Bareboat certificate or the US Sailing Certificate. For small 'day boats' or if you choose to have a skippered on board your yacht charter you typically don't require licences.

yacht charter cuba

Just a few words to tell you that our trip was great, everyone was verry happy! The land program was well balanced with plenty of time to rest. Even the guide said that it was a very good compromise. The last part on the boat was fantastic and we were able to leave the marina at night and come back the last morning (Cuban crews are authorized to sail at night), and thus we had time to visit Cayo Largo and the surroundings. The cook aboard was a real chief and we amazing meals every day. We’ve found Cuban people really friendly, even with their limited means and resources, and the culture and history of the country particularly interesting. I thank you very much for your organization et ensuring everything goes as smoothly as possible.

Havana, Cuba, The Capitol

Havana

It might be the rakish history, the spirit of survival, a US trade embargo or the salsa energy that ensues from the locals. Havana, Cuba’s capital is just the place for an awesome trip. Come to Cuba on a Cuba yacht charter and get ready for a slow, yet long seduction.

A city of rebellious art, this jewel of the Caribbean, is also known for its bohemian bars and cafes. While you look at the specimens of art flowering at a roadside cafe, your friend may pay a visit to one of the lounge bars for a drink and music. Besides charters to Cuba, we give you the chance to explore this unique blend of old and new. You get to experience the age-old Spanish colonial architecture, vintage cars and kitschy galleries. You might come here in slight trepidation about what the place might offer, but we, at Chase N Dreams, guarantee you that Havana will offer you a lifelong of memories and make you leave the place with a smile on your lips. From drinking expensive scotch in Ernest Hemingway’s old mansions to going around in a classic Cadillac, we provide you with some unmissable itineraries!

Gala Entertainment Today, but the Electricity of Yesteryear.

Live music and entertainment

The live music will inspire you to move and groove all throughout the night. The Cuba private yacht charter all-inclusive package gives you access to free entry to most of the bars and pubs, and thus, we give you the chance to witness the social scene of Cuba. What is that one advice we think might be important for you? Cubans like to dress sharply, so make sure to dress up in the right way. From bolero to rumba, from timba to cha-cha-cha, we promise you a mind-numbing experience everywhere you go. We, at Chase N Dreams, will suggest you to visit El Sauce for Cuban Pop, Salon Rosado de la Tropical for a timba/salsa gig, La Cecilia for a lavish Saturday night extravaganza or Salon Rojo for its famous bands.

Cuba Sailing Catamarans

A sailing catamaran

Catamarans, of course, are traditionally powered by sails. Sailing has a natural romance associated with it. If you aren’t already attracted to sailing, perhaps you haven’t considered the many benefits.

Sailing is Relaxed

The wind isn’t cooperating? That’s ok – it’s what a vacation on a sailing catamaran is all about. If you need to get somewhere, you can always fire up the engines and head to the next place on your itinerary.

Sailing is Out of the Ordinary

When you’re on a sailing catamaran, you can truly go anywhere. Enjoy the food and activities of a local village or find your own remote private anchorage. Get out there where no one else is and experience the freedom that a sailing vacation offers.

Sailing is Still

If noise is a regular part of your life, you probably want your vacation to be about being still and laid back. While there is always plenty to do on any catamaran, there is something unique about moving across the water with no motor noise to the experience.

Sailing is Tradition

Experience what it’s like to move the old-fashioned way while still being connected to all the luxuries of a modern sailing catamaran.

Sailing is Comfort

Modern sailing catamarans are nothing like being stuck on a pirate ship. They are packed with all the modern luxuries that you would expect from any Cuba catamaran charter experience.

Check out some of our best Cuba sailing catamaran charters in the results below!

Cuba Power Catamarans (Powercats)

People are taking to the ocean to get away from the stress and bustle of the everyday and relax in a purely luxurious environment. Modern power catamarans (powercats) offer exactly this.

Powercats are Worry-Free

When you arrange for a private Cuba catamaran charter , you are signing up for an experience where everything is taken care of. The only thing to consider is when to apply sunscreen.

Powercats are Private

When you’re on the ocean, there’s open space. You get to make the call as to whether you want neighbors or not.

Powercats are Fun

Many of the vessels available on this site come with everything from floaties to slides. If you want to do something a bit further from ship, there’s always going to be incredible things to see and do that you just won’t get any other way.

Powercats are Adventure

Exploring Cuba by catamaran is an adventure with all the luxuries of home, and all the romance of the sea. Step off your boat and right into the city. You just don’t get that any other way.

Take a look at some of the best Cuba power catamaran charters below!

Catamarans and Yachts: the Differences

You have a few different boat styles to choose from which include catamarans, power catamarans, motor yachts, or monohull sailboats. Each has its own unique qualities to consider when making your decision. If you can’t decide, we are happy to help you explore your options and match you with the ideal yacht and crew. Let us assist you in brokering any type of charter you might be interested in.

Book Your Private Cuba Catamaran Charter with Our Recommended Crews

Your crew will handle everything from the boat to the bar to the food to setting up floaties. With so much of your Cuba catamaran sailing vacation riding on the capabilities of the crew, it’s important to make the right selection. Maybe you want a crew that can teach you how to kiteboard or even learn to sail yourself.  How do you do that at a distance? Ask someone with experience. Contact us if you have any more questions, and check out our recommended crews at the link below.

Things to Do and See on Your Cuba Catamaran Vacation

Here are just some of the incredible things you can check out while on your Cuba catamaran voyage:

  • See incredible historical island architecture
  • Buy renowned Cuban cigars and rum
  • Experience the beaches of Varadero, Cayo Coco, and Cayo Santa Maria
  • Explore the cities

Cuba Catamaran Charter Q&A

How much does it cost to charter a catamaran are catamarans more expensive.

Catamaran charters vary in their cost based on several factors, including

  • Mode of power
  • Crew compliment
  • Luxury of fittings and features

Costs will vary a fair amount based on these factors, and you can see the exact numbers by looking above or searching the website. Are catamarans more expensive? Not at all. In fact, you’ll likely find that a Cuba catamaran charter is less expensive than a standard mono-hull sailing or power yacht.

What does the cost of a catamaran charter include?

The cost of a Cuba catamaran charters through Private Yacht Charter typically includes

  • Expenses associated with running the vessel
  • 3 meals a day
  • Standard bar
  • Any equipment your specific charter has on board.

Essentially the only thing your rental charge doesn’t include are costs for doing things on land and gratuities (typically 15-20%). Any additional activities off of the boat will likely cost you extra. Please note that every boat will be different. Be sure to read your paperwork thoroughly to avoid any surprises.

What is a catamaran, and how is it different from a standard (monohull) vessel?

Rather than a single hull with a keel to keep the vessel upright, a catamaran is a boat with two hulls spaced apart from each other on either side of the craft. This has several advantages for those looking to take a sailing vacation in Cuba.

What are the benefits of catamarans compared to standard vessels?

A catamaran has several advantages over a standard sailing vessel (called a monohull), including a smaller draught, less hull volume, a smaller wake, and probably best of all: an increased area for deck space.

How long is the Cuba catamaran charter season?

Ideal seasons for catamaran charter vacations vary by location. Many vessels are not available during the summer due to the hurricane season. The most popular time is during the winter, as people are looking to escape the cold of their local climate.

How long can you rent a catamaran for?

The fees listed on our website are per week, but that doesn’t mean you’re limited to time spans of a week. Along with your own schedule, check out the schedule of availability for your selected sailing or power catamaran.

Do you tip on a catamaran charter?

It is customary to tip your catamaran crew at the end of your charter. The standard is 15-20% of the charter rate.  Be mindful of this additional expense when booking your trip.

What is a powercat and how is its sailing experience unique?

A powercat (short for power catamaran) is a catamaran driven exclusively by engines, so there’s no sails. You get all the speed, smoothness, and certainty of an engine with a powercat.

Will I need to wear a lifejacket?

Only when and where required by law – but not very often, if ever. Your crew will let you know when those times are.

If your question isn’t on this list, or you would like more details before scheduling your dream Cuba catamaran charter , please contact us!
