Masquerade Boat | 36' Morris 2006

"Masquerade" is a one-owner vessel built and optioned per company founder Tom Morris's mantra "it's all about sailing!"  Sailed by a very experienced yachtsman who optioned her for simplicity, classic elegance and exhilarating performance.  With her modern fin keel and carbon fiber spade rudder, "Masquerade" is very competitive on the race course yet easily handled by one!  Adorned with just enough high gloss varnished teak, she is easy to maintain and still turns heads in every harbor.  In boom mainsail furling along with her self tacking jib make the M36 a joy to sail alone or in tight harbors.  With all control lines running below decks and directly to the helm, the skipper can easily raise the main, roll out the jib, adjust the vang and backstay and trim both sails right from the helm!  Clearly a "home run" design by Sparkman & Stephens, this M36 is a joy in every way.

Sailing Simplicity at its Finest

Long time single handed sailors love the M36 because within 5 minutes they can be off the dock and sailing. Beginners are equally as enthralled because the M36 is simple to sail, simple to learn on and immediately rewarding with her straightforward sail handling and control lines that are lead under deck to electric winches at the helmsman’s fingertips. In addition, all instruments are intelligently arrayed to quickly provide all the information you need.

More Than a Daysailer

Take her overnight! The elegantly appointed optional V-berth, standard fridge and enclosed head make her far more versatile than a mere daysailer. The M36 also has a deep, safe and comfortable cockpit which accommodates six adults allowing you to safely entertain your guests.

Beautifully Appointed Interior

No detail inside her cabin is overlooked. Large safety glass windows and a huge foredeck hatch flood the interior with natural light. The Herreshoff style interior is finished elegantly with white bulkheads, solid cherry trim and marvelously varnished hull sheathing. Twin port and starboard settees are ergonomically designed for comfortable lounging (or sleeping), and well placed reading lights invite you to enjoy the morning paper or catch up on some afternoon reading. Generous storage can be found in the forepeak. An alternative layout converts the forepeak space into a beautiful and functional V-Berth for overnight stays.

Remarkably Simple to Dock

The M36 does exactly what you tell her to do. She backs straight (no prop walk), turns on a dime and docks like a pro. In short, she maneuvers under power as responsively as she does under sail making her a pleasure to both sail and to bring back to port. Even the fenders are just a ‘clip’ away; pad eyes and stainless steel rub rails are placed on deck for ‘clip-on’ polar-fleece-covered fenders. What could be easier!

Perfectly Engineered

At Morris Yachts we’re not just boat builders; we’re sailors and boat owners too. Perhaps this is the reason the M36 is so intuitively designed with the owner in mind. Often overlooked by other builders, access to the engine, through-hulls and electrical systems is superb.

morris yachts for sale

As with all sailing boats built by Morris Yachts, the M36 offers peace of mind. You are onboard one of the most seaworthy boats in the world. Setting the industry standard, Morris Yachts’ level of engineering, fit and finish sets the benchmark by which other builders measure themselves. Morris craftsmen and engineers demand only the finest equipment and use the most modern techniques and technology during the boat building process, proving that the beauty of a Morris is not only skin deep but integrated throughout all facets of the vessel.

"Morris Yachts is well known for building sailboats that border on floating works of art. From this all-American builder comes the Linda 28 which was introduced in 1985 from drawing board of Chuck Paine, one of America's pre-eminent naval architects. The Linda 28 is a fast and nimble pocket cruiser built on a custom basis for customers with an outstanding fit and finish, the kind you'd expect from Morris Yachts." ~ Blue Water Boats

Alpha Three is a rare find with her new Awlgrip paint job in 2020, varnish work in progress, repower in 2018, new Doug Pope genoa in 2019, new Doug Pope asymmetrical spinnaker in sock that has never been flown and a custom built trailer that will convey with the boat. + Description

Morris linda 28.

"Morris Yachts is well known for building sailboats that border on floating works of art. From this all-American builder comes the Linda 28 which was introduced in 1985 from drawing board of Chuck Paine, one of America's pre-eminent naval architects. The Linda 28 is a fast and nimble pocket cruiser built on a custom basis for customers with an outstanding fit and finish, the kind you'd expect from Morris Yachts. Perhaps best of all she's got the same drop dead handsome lines that have won over Morris lovers worldwide." ~ Blue Water Boats

Designers Notes

"The new Morris 28 is my latest design for Morris Yachts of Southwest Harbor, Maine. She is intended to combine the robust construction, ample tankage and unsurpassed directional and transverse stability demanded by a growing Bermuda and Beyond clientele, with fully modern, computer optimized hull lines and weight distribution to please the coastal cruisers and yacht club racers. The 28' overall length was selected in order comfortably accommodate four adults for brief periods (or two living aboard for longer cruises) while still permitting a fully enclosed head... full sized galley usable upright or offshore, and truly ample storage in sensibly sized lockers. Yet in terms of original cost, ease of anchoring, size of sails and winches, and ability to be maintained simply and inexpensively, she still retains the virtues of a small boat. Linda possess all the seakeeping qualities which has made the Morris/Paine line of yachts so well respected. The designed waterline is exceptionally long for high speed potential and damping of pitching motion; ballast is of external cast lead for stability and security if grounded; all ports are opening and bronze; interior headroom is over six feet as are the cockpit seats for snoozing; inboard diesel power is standard with the propeller fully protected in a properly faired aperture; the glass work superbly laminated yet completely hidden from view belowdecks by fine Maine standard wood joinerwork. Most important in the opinion of her builder, is the fact that this yacht exhibits the graceful traditional appearance which will continually enhance the pleasure of ownership, and return fair value if resale is ever contemplated." C.W. Paine Yacht Designs

Hull and Deck

"Built to the highest specifications using Reichold Hydrex Vinylester resin and quadaxial e-glass laminate. The gelcoat is the highest marine grade of ISO NPG. Decks are balsa cored. All areas with thru fastenings are solid fiberglass" ~ Morris Linda 28 Brochure

"The Linda 28 is seakindly and fast, though specifically designed for day sailing and coastal cruising she has capability for extended cruising into blue waters. The 4' 4" draft makes accessing shoal waters easy and opens up the Bahamas and Florida Keys as cruising grounds. While loaded down with cruising gear, beware that it's easy to have the boat stern heavy due the leading edge of the keel (hence ballast) so far aft, this is a gremlin Chuck Paine has noted on occasion." ~ Blue Water Boats

CIRCE Morris 57 2008

Specification.

Born from her owner’s desire for an easily-handled, safe, comfortable, and aesthetically-pleasing sailing yacht, CIRCE  is the result of careful collaboration between Morris Yachts, Fontaine Design Group, and Goetz Custom Boats. Her sail plan allows for short or single-handed sailing, with lines led aft to electric winches. A large, hard dodger protects from the elements while the spacious cockpit and cockpit table provide ample space for lounging and entertaining.

Her interior features a generous salon, three-stateroom, two-head layout, and proper, well-appointed galley.

CIRCE has been meticulously maintained and lightly used by her owners, spending summers in Newport and winters in the Caribbean until 2020. For the past three seasons, she has remained in Newport in climate-controlled storage when not in use.

Classic lines and beautiful craftsmanship may draw you in, but this stunning yacht’s build quality, performance, and comfort result in a boat that is a joy to own and sail.
