Great service and great people, helpful in mooring and port operations, the yacht we rented was perfect in all its parts, clear sign of good maintenance!

I have only good words to say about Hermes team. We rented ‘’Micha’’ a beautiful catamaran. It was our second time sailing in Greece and the Cyclades are magic. The boat was in a very good condition and well equipped. Only one problem with a toilet pump was solved remotely on Naxos island, brilliant. The staff on the base and during check in where very kind and helpful as well. Well done!

Pawel P.

I recommend to everyone! yacht perfectly prepared, trouble-free service, no problems with returning the yacht and check out. Dodatkowo Irenka mówi po polsku! 🙂

Seven Seas Yachts Hermes Speedster E

Consider the latest Hermes Speedster model from UK-based Seven Seas Yachts as a Porsche 356 for the sea—but with a futuristic twist. While the body pays homage to the German marque’s early, now iconic “bathtub” design, power is delivered from a silent, zero-emission 100 kw electric motor juiced by a 30 kwh battery pack.

Seven Seas has been building the Speedster at its Greek facility since 2017, with the original boats powered by a 155 hp Rotax engine. While that conventional powerplant remains an option, eco-conscious buyers can still count on speed, with the electric Speedster E (priced at $269,000) capable of hitting 36 mph. Throttling back to a more sedate 6 mph, meanwhile, gives the boat a run time of up to nine hours.

Design cues inspired by the classic Porsche Speedster include a cut-down, chrome-framed windshield, bucket seats, chrome-ringed retro gauges in a leather dash, twin-grated air intakes on the rear sun pad and a 356-style folding cloth top. The boat’s elegant profile is so proportionally correct that it could be mistaken for a 75-year-old custom design, particularly with its retro-looking convertible top that sets up in seconds.

Seven Seas Yachts Hermes Speedster E

A red version of the Speedster lighting up the water.  Seven Seas Yachts

The hull is an interesting design, with a forward entry angle of 72 degrees and little drag resistance. That means that, unlike other powerboats that tend to porpoise as they gain speed, this one simply lifts itself out of the water as it goes faster. The running surface also avoids pounding through big waves, giving the Hermes Speedster an unusually gentle ride and precise handling, particularly in tight turns. Cruising stability is another important trait. The smooth-riding hull is a perfect complement to the stylish topsides.

And while the Hermes name comes from the fleet-of-foot Greek god, not the French fashion house, the level of craftsmanship in the richly upholstered cockpit is enough to keep your passengers guessing.

A new art of living on the sea is born

WHY, Wally Hermès Yacht

A new art of living on the sea is born

WHY , Wally Hermès Yachts , today unveils a revolutionary approach to cruising in motor yachts with the presentation of a full size model of its first born, an innovative 58metre-long 38metre-wide yacht, in Ancona's shipyard.

Wally Hermès Yachts: a joint-venture WHY is the result of the joint-venture signed in June 2008 between Hermès and Wally , to develop a new type of motor yacht redefining the art of living on the sea. The iconic Parisian house and the iconic Monaco yacht brand formed an equal partnership whereby each company is fully involved in all aspects of the conception and design of each project.

Pierre-Alexis Dumas, Artistic Director of Hermèssays : “When we met, in autumn 2007, Luca Bassani Antivari, President of Wally had thought about asking Hermès to accessorise the interior of one of his boats. I was impressed by the daring of his projects. My instinct was to get on board with him and go and seek out new territories in yacht design, but I had no interest in speed.”

Luca Bassani Antivari explains: “What I’ve always liked about Hermès, aside from its intrinsic quality, is its audacity and radicalism; its desire to go beyond trends, to make no compromises and to maintain the authenticity of the house. Wally shares the same values, ‘Hermès-on-Land’, ‘Wally-on-Sea’: inevitably our paths had to cross.”

WHY 58x38 The common values of the two brands have led to a first yacht that offers an unparalleled living space at sea. WHY was developed to give life to this concept assembling a team of dedicated talents in design, engineering, and naval architecture.

Then the tried and tested Norwegian Ramform hull characterised by exceptional and unprecedented stability and volume and spottedby Luca Bassani Antivari, revealed itself as the ideal choice to be adapted to the WHY 58x38 project.

Following this unique adaptation, the decks and the interiors were developed in accordance with the fundamental credo of WHY, 'form-equals-function'. Thus were born other innovations in the world of mega yachts: patios generously flooding the interior with natural light, photovoltaic panels on the glass hull sides, as well as on the roof opening, like Venetian blinds, a 25 metre-long forward end swimming pool, and a 36-metre aftdeck beach.

WHY 58x38 offers comfort, privacy, stability, space, independence and sustainability.

Sustainability “We are very interested in creating a yacht that will have a low environmental impact”, says Pierre-Alexis Dumas. “Its relationship with the sea must berespectful and easy. WHY intends to offer a new way of moving over water by creating an innovative way of managing and recycling its sources and uses of energy.”

“If you want to go totally ecological, it’s only sailing yacht. The reality is that today, 90% of the market is powerboats, echoes Luca Bassani Antivari. Our aim is to reduce diesel consumption per year and per yacht: 20 to 30% for propulsion and 40 to 50% for generation.”

Thanks to its specific hull, WHY 58x38 requires less power at cruising speed than a boat of equal size. Its diesel-electric propulsion is the most efficient motorisation today, and the surface of the photovoltaic panels, almost 900square metres, covers most of the boat’s auxiliary system needs.

WHY Research and Development plan to optimize this project’s energy consumption by improving the isolation of the yacht and the heat recovery of its engines, and is also investigating the latest wind energy production and wind propulsion system technologies.

In comparison to a yacht of the same size, WHY 58x38 has been conceived to reduce drastically its energy consumption, saving up to 200tons of diesel per year.

The WHY R&D program includes tank testing for hull stability in the SSPA facilities in Sweden, and the construction of a full-scale mock-up in order to allow the design team to fine tune the living areas correctly in accordance with the hull’s unique shape.

The WHY 58X38 yacht looks very unfamiliar but it remains on a human scale. Space is the greatest luxury on the sea, but I believe the new luxury will be the time to enjoy it”, concludes Pierre-Alexis Dumas.

WHY Wally-Hermès Yachts is the new company created by french luxury brand Hermès and monaco based yacht maker Wally, dedicated to a new lifestyle of living on the sea.

designing a boat with a new concept is not an utopia. at every turn the yacht offers maximum space, durability and cutting-edge technologies. the exchange with Wally and Hermès was rooted deeply in terms of know how and sharing the same philosophy of this new concept.

the boat is contained in a triangular hull measuring 58m x 38m. there is no superstructure. the initial idea of this hull was confirmed by the ramform hull which they discovered, redesigned and adapted to fit the concept of the wheel house that emerges from the silhouette of the ship. the interior of the yacht is fitted out with water resistant buffalo leather using the calpinage technique.

the yacht which took years in the making has been tested in gotebourg, sweden, in a specialised tank testing facility, to see how it would perform in big seas. the outcome is that, in full swell, the bow moves a tiny bit and the stern stays completely still. anchored, the boat creates a totally flat surface behind it, like an olympic-size pool where you can swim in total peace. on the bow, there’s a seawater pool 25 metres long that follows the curve of the bow.

the environmental and ecological advantages are a strong point of the boat WHY. different sources of energy are managed by a central computer.

the yacht is powered using a diesel electric engine. a surface of the photovolatic panels which measure approximately 900 square meters provide the solar electricity generated which covers part of what is needed to subsist the boat.

an encounter, … the concept was developed by president and CEO of Wally luca bassani antivari, artistic director of Hermès, pierre-alexis dumas and design director of Hermès gabriele pezzini.

a special WHY team has been built to reply to any needs.

http://www.why-yachts.com

‘everybody’s dream is to live on an island, in complete freedom, without constraint, with the independence that only self-sufficiency can provide. a piece of land with a beautiful villa partly fulfils this aspiration because it is static. a yacht offers the freedom to move, but does not have the space of a property. WHY has it all: space, stability, movement, independence, peace. WHY goes even further. this revolutionary concept of the moving island is developed with the latest and most advanced sustainable technologies, recycling thermal energy, as well as any organic and inorganic waste. the architecture of the whole project fits perfectly in the environment – there are no excesses, nothing is superfluous, the impact on the sea is minimum. a new and unique way to live on the sea while caring about it, protecting it, and loving it. all this has always been my dream too, and when I met pierre-alexis dumas I realised that this dream could come true thanks to the common values and ethical principles we share.’ luca bassani antivari, president and CEO of Wally

‘from the invention of the compass to block capitals, from the rudder to the first steps on the moon, man discovers and pursues his dreams. with its feet on the ground and its head in the stars, Hermès, since its creation in 1837, has grown, generation after generation, through innovative projects, executed with high standards and an artisan spirit.I have always thrived on the dreams of great visionaries like magellan, jules verne, saint-exupéry and paul klee. like theirs, the path of Hermès is to pursue its dreams… excelling itself, learning, pushing ever further the quest for excellence and the celebration of beauty in the world. a world we must protect. today, Hermès steps into the marine world with Wally. we quickly recognised our common values, the values of well-made, singular, functional, refined and elegant objects. this encounter was just what we needed to inspire us to brave the open seas. together, with luca bassani antivari, we hope to open a new path, to offera new lifestyle that is different, serene, contemplative and respectful of the environment, moving slowly on the water, combining the pleasure of sailing and absolute comfort. Wally Hermès Yachts – WHY – is the union of our dreams, the green path that carries us away in its wake…’  pierre-alexis dumas, artistic director of Hermès

‘over the course of your discussions coasting against the current, how did you come up with the idea of a triangular hull?’

pierre-alexis dumas: my inspiration is still the greek caïque, roomy, generous and slow. this eulogy to slowness is demonstrated in such a magnificent way. a pared-down craft with nothing superfluous about it. we needed a stable hull in order to hold the sea comfortably. the idea of a triangular hull, which doesn’t exist in the world of leisure boating, came from the utilitarian merchant marine.

luca bassani antivari: I came across a picture of a supertanker while reading a professional magazine. a cable-handling vessel, used in the geo-mining and seismological industry in the north sea, invented by a norwegian naval engineer, roar ramde, and fully patented. there was nothing new about this ship. it had been in use for twenty-five years. as soon as I saw it, I picked up the phone and called my consultant naval architect, mauro sculli. he looked in the RINA, the italian naval classification registry: never seen or heard of before in the world of yachting! it was perfect. we had our hull. we bought exclusive rights to the concept, patented strictly for yachting.

pierre-alexis dumas: WHY addresses the very real problem of consumption, which is today exacerbated by the global context. we provide an answer in a field where clients are responsible for setting an example, embracing a new ethic. what this market needs is a boat designed with the environment in mind. this new way of moving on water must give way to a new way of managing energy, its sources and uses, how to recycle it, etc. the same goes for the choice of materials; we have to limit the effect on the environment.

gabriele pezzini: we didn’t design a boat, we gave shape to an idea. the sea is one of the last spaces where people can indulge in absolute freedom. deciding to live on the sea means rethinking everything that’s been done before. you need to start from scratch! for example, we provide a real jogging track inspired by coastal paths running around the ship. above all, we had to transpose and translate functions into forms, and vice versa, by merging the viewpoints of Hermès and Wally.

‘what are the environmental and ecological advantages of WHY ?’

pierre-alexis dumas: ours requires less power at cruising speed than a boat of equal size. its diesel-electric motorisation is the most efficient motorisation out there today, and the surface of the photovoltaic panels, almost 900 square metres, covers part of what’s needed to subsist on the boat! we’re also looking into a telescopic wind-turbine system and a retractable mast with a computer-operated sail measuring over 200 square metres that will produce at least 30 % of the energy used to propel the boat.

Time for a bigger boat? Check out what the Palm Beach International Boat Show has to offer

hermes yacht

Whether you're the son of a son of a sailor or even just love that song and want to know more, the granddaddy of all boating events is happening this weekend along the West Palm Beach waterfront.

That's right, the Palm Beach International Boat Show is back for four glorious days along Flagler Drive.

This will be the 42nd annual event, and organizers promise it will be bigger and better than ever.

There will be $1.2 billion worth of Bond-worthy super yachts, cruisers, sportfishing boats, center consoles and even inflatables to see and tour, along with attractions and activities highlighting the latest in boat engines, motors and accessories. There will also be the latest fishing gear and even fishing seminars.

Yes, it's a big event, but don't be intimidated. In fact, here are seven fun facts about the show:

How many boats can this boat show boast?

There will be more than 800 boats on display along the floating docks in the Intracoastal Waterway.

What is the biggest boat at the boat show?

With a length of 236 feet (and 38 feet wide), Casino Royale takes the title for largest boat this year. This gorgeous yacht, designed for her exterior lines by Francesco Paszkowski with interior by Paszkowski’s interior lead designer Margherita Casprini, is also one of the most technically advanced yachts in her category. Casino Royale is powered by twin Caterpillar 3516B main engines and has an impressive top speed of 17.5 knots. You can put your checkbooks away for this one, however, as she is only on display and not for sale.

This boat is the boat show's most epensive

Built in 2022 and 196-feet long, Come Together is listed for $59,950,000. This expedition yacht was delivered by the Dutch shipyard Amels and features interior styling by British designer Winch Design. It can comfortably accommodate up to 12 guests in six cabins along with 14 crew members.

Are spectators allowed to go on the boats?

To go onboard the yachts and superyachts, visitors must make an appointment with the brokers. For the smaller boats, however, spectators can come onboard if they are interested in buying.

What is the smallest boat?

The smallest boat being displayed on the water is a runabout boat that is 22-feet-6-inches long, and 5-feet-11 wide. It is manufactured by Hermes.

Eating inside the boat show

The show will have dozens of food concessions featuring almost anything you could be craving, from Greek gyros to woodfired picanha, authentic street tacos and hand-crafted burgers. On a seafood diet? Enjoy fresh stone crab claws, calamari, oysters, and much more! Vegetarian, vegan, and/or gluten-free? No problem; they have options for you as well.

And libations at the boat show?

Of course there will be drinks. To be precise, there will be four bars for general admission guests, including two floating cocktail barges: the Goslings Island Bar and the Anheuser-Busch Barge. In addition there will be multiple bars in the Windward VIP Club.

What: Palm Beach International Boat Show

Where: Downtown West Palm Beach along Flagler Drive from Banyan Boulevard south to Lakeview Avenue

Strange Glow Over Moscow Skies Triggers Panic as Explosions Reported

B right flashes lit up the night sky in southern Moscow in the early hours of Thursday morning, new footage appears to show, following reports of an explosion at an electrical substation on the outskirts of the city.

Video snippets circulating on Russian-language Telegram channels show a series of flashes on the horizon of a cloudy night sky, momentarily turning the sky a number of different colors. In a clip shared by Russian outlet MSK1.ru, smoke can be seen rising from a building during the flashes lighting up the scene.

Newsweek was unable to independently verify the details of the video clips, including when and where it was filmed. The Russian Ministry of Emergency situations has been contacted via email.

Several Russian Telegram accounts said early on Thursday that residents of southern Moscow reported an explosion and a fire breaking out at an electrical substation in the Leninsky district, southeast of central Moscow.

Local authorities in the Leninsky district told Russian outlet RBC that the explosion had happened in the village of Molokovo. "All vital facilities are operating as normal," Leninsky district officials told the outlet.

The incident at the substation in Molokovo took place just before 2 a.m. local time, MSK1.ru reported.

Messages published by the ASTRA Telegram account, run by independent Russian journalists, appear to show residents close to the substation panicking as they question the bright flashes in the sky. One local resident describes seeing the bright light before losing access to electricity, with another calling the incident a "nightmare."

More than 10 villages and towns in the southeast of Moscow lost access to electricity, the ASTRA Telegram account also reported. The town of Lytkarino to the southeast of Moscow, lost electricity, wrote the eastern European-based independent outlet, Meduza.

Outages were reported in the southern Domodedovo area of the city, according to another Russian outlet, as well as power failures in western Moscow. Electricity was then restored to the areas, the Strana.ua outlet reported.

The cause of the reported explosion is not known. A Telegram account aggregating news for the Lytkarino area described the incident as "an ordinary accident at a substation."

The MSK1.ru outlet quoted a local resident who speculated that a drone may have been responsible for the explosion, but no other Russian source reported this as a possible cause.

Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Moscow with long-range aerial drones in recent months, including a dramatic wave of strikes in late May.

On Sunday, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the region's air defense systems had intercepted an aerial drone over the city of Elektrostal, to the east of Moscow. No damage or casualties were reported, he said.

The previous day, Russian air defenses detected and shot down another drone flying over the Bogorodsky district, northeast of central Moscow, Sobyanin said.

There is currently no evidence that an aerial drone was responsible for the reported overnight explosion at the electrical substation in southern Moscow.
