Portals Nous Beach or Playa Oratori, as it is known to the locals, is a relatively large, handsome beach featuring Mallorca's picture-perfect turquoise waters, fine golden sand and an excellent choice of facilities.

The location of the beach is second to none, thanks to the world-class restaurants and bars in Puerto Portals on its doorstep, and the more modest amenities of Portals Nous, just a few minutes walk away. This part of the island offers some of the island's most prestigious hotels, the best beach clubs and gastronomy along with a whole host of activities from family-friendly waterparks through to topnotch golf courses.

The main high street of Portals Nous focused along Carretera d'Andratx, is a short walk from the beach, where you’ll find an array of independent shops, bookshops, a supermarket, quaint newsagents and a good selection of restaurants. Although Portals Nous dates back to the 1950’s, investment in this area has been substantial, so the amenities are both modern and exciting.

From Portals Nous village, you can access the beach by walking down a small lane (that leads to the church) and then down some steps. Alternatively, park in Puerto Portals and walk through the small shipyard to the beach. Sundowners at one of the beach bars along the beach are the perfect way to watch the sun go down. For those who want a cosmopolitan and elegant night out, dressing up and sipping cocktails or champagne before or after dinner , the ritzy bars and restaurants within Puerto Portals will provide. A more casual affair awaits in the village of Portals Nous directly behind the beach, with traditional Spanish tavernas, international pubs, and other establishments to choose from.

As a destination popular with tourists, there are plenty of clean and contemporary hotels near the beach. An der Südwestküste Mallorcas im Herzen der Bucht von Palma befindet sich der Ort Portals Nous. Der Ort selbst ist mit rund 2600 Einwohnern eher klein und unscheinbar und doch ist er beliebtes Ausflugsziel zahlreicher wohlhabender Persönlichkeiten, Urlaubern. Selbst und die spanische Königsfamilie kehrt hier des Öfteren ein. Der Grund dafür ist das exklusive Herzstück des Ortes: die Hafenanlage „Puerto Portals“. Sie gilt als eine der nobelsten Luxushäfen der Insel und ist Schauplatz der teuersten und edelsten Luxusyachten Mallorcas. Im „Puerto Portals“ können Jachten mit einer Gesamtlänge von 8 bis 60m anlegen. Der Tiefgang sollte im hinteren Teil des Hafens die 4m nicht überschreiten. An der Hafeneinfahrt beträgt der Tiefgang maximal 7,5m. Insgesamt verfügt der Hafen über 650 Anlegeplätze. Davon sind insgesamt 169 vorüber anlegenden Transitjachten vorbehalten. Die Plätze sind am Steg jeweils mit Wasser- und Stromanschlüssen ausgestattet. Für Wartungs- und Reparaturarbeiten stehen ausreichend Kräne und ein Travellift zur Verfügung, um Boote gegebenenfalls aus dem Wasser zu heben. Das Serviceangebot im Hafen von Portals Nous ist sehr umfangreich und bietet jeglichen Komfort: Ein 24-Stunden-Service sorgt für die Überwachung der Anlage. Das Hafenpersonal steht ebenfalls rund um die Uhr zur Verfügung. Selbstverständlich gibt es auch eine Tankstelle im Hafen. Weiter ist die Anlage mit sanitären Einrichtungen ausgestattet, dazu gehört auch eine Waschmaschine, die genutzt werden kann. Direkt im Hafen befinden sich auch eine Segelschule und ein Charter-Service.

Die Ansteuerung des Hafens erfolgt problemlos. Als Orientierungshilfe dient der weiße Turm des Hafenmeisterbüros. Außerdem ist die Einfahrt zur Orientierung befeuert. Nachdem Sie sich zunächst am Meldesteg angemeldet haben, erfolgt eine Zuweisung zu einem Platz durch das Hafenpersonal.

Insgesamt verfügt „Puerto Portals“ über eine hervorragende Infrastruktur. Zahlreiche Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sind bequem zu erreichen, auch einige Banken befinden sich ganz in der Nähe. Für das leibliche Wohl sorgen überdies mehrere Restaurants, Cafés und Bars, die sich entlang der Hafenpromenade aneinanderreihen und zu kulinarischen Höhenflügen einladen. In einem edlen Ambiente lässt es sich gut in einem der Sterne-Restaurants, wie beispielsweise dem bekannten „Baiben“ aushalten und dem bunten Treiben der vielen Luxus-Urlauber zuschauen. Die eine oder andere berühmte Persönlichkeit mag auch darunter sein. Dementsprechend exklusiv gestaltet sich auch die Boutiquenlandschaft entlang der Promenade. Modebegeisterte finden hier das eine oder andere Einzelstück.

Playa de S´oratori

Der feinsandige Playa S´Oratori (auch Playa Oratori genannt) schließt sich direkt an den großen Yachthafen von Portal Nous an, der zwischen den Touristenorten Palmanova und Illetes liegt.

Für ausreichend Unterhaltung sorgen außerdem regelmäßige Veranstaltungen im Hafen. Diese umfassen sämtliche sportliche Events, Segelregatten oder Kinderfeste – man ist sehr bemüht, den Aufenthalt so vielfältig und einzigartig wie möglich für die Urlauber zu gestalten.

Puerto Portals und Umgebung

Wer dem Trubel der Luxuswelt entfliehen und sich sportlich betätigen möchte, kann dies entspannt an dem wunderschönen Sandstrand ganz in der Nähe an der Punta Portals tun. Der Strand ist über eine steile Treppe erreichbar und daher ein absoluter Geheimtipp für Badeurlauber, die gerne in Ruhe in weniger überlaufenen Gegenden entspannen möchten. Wem dies noch nicht reicht, der kann die zahlreichen Sportangebote nutzen, die den Urlaubern in der Umgebung von Portals Nous geboten werden: Mehrere Golfanlagen, Tennisplätze und Angebote für Rad- und Wassersportler versprechen einen abwechslungsreichen Aufenthalt. Darüber hinaus ist das familienfreundliche „Marineland“ – ein Delfinarium mit faszinierenden Unterwasserwelten – in unmittelbarer Nähe in Costa d’en Blanes (5 Fahrminuten mit dem Auto) gelegen.

Einfach ist es natürlich auch, sich in die umliegende Umgebung abzusetzen. Die Inselhauptstadt ist gerade einmal etwa 10km von Portals Nous entfernt und lockt mit zahlreichen Sehenswürdigkeiten für den interessierten Urlauber. Doch auch zahlreiche Wanderwege inmitten der Ausläufer des Tramuntana-Gebirges lassen das Herz des wanderlustigen Urlaubers höherschlagen – eventuelle Anstrengungen werden mit fantastischen Ausblicken und Panoramen belohnt.

Welcome to Portals Nous , a town belonging to the municipality of Calvià, located in the heart of the west coast of Mallorca.

Portals Nous is famous for its glamorous marina, “ Puerto Portals ” , as well as its luxurious residential houses, an expression of the island’s good taste.

This stretch of the Calvià coast has a well-earned reputation thanks to its high standard hotel infrastructure, excellent cuisine and a wide range of night entertainment, making it one of the most select places on the Island.

A vibrant town with a large port and yachting community.

Portal Nous is a small town that is situated only 10 km from Palma and is where the British often buy their second homes. The town is well placed above the marina and there are a number of convenience shops and cafes.

Things to do

It is very small town and there is not much to do but it does have a lovely beach with one of the best bars on the island and it could be quite easy to spend a week there enjoying the soft sand and the calm turquoise sea.

A popular attraction for families with young children is the Marineland that is situated in the resort of Portal Nous. The park is situated on the Costa d’en Blanes beach and has a good reputation for delivering the shows in an exciting manner. At the Marina, you can see shows with performing sea lions, parrots and dolphins. At the club, there is an underwater tunnel which allows you to get up close to the dolphins and one of the reasons why the children and adults alike enjoy visiting the Marineland.

There are a few golf courses but the main attraction is the mini golf course which offers an informal and relaxed game of golf. The golf courses are set in the tropical forest where one can come across the wildlife of the area in amongst the waterfalls, caves and lakes.

There are activities that you can do from Portal Nous as most the towns are close by such as Palma, Magaluf and you can also visit markets in the towns nearby.

Hotels in Portals Nous

Most of the hotels are situated in the surrounding areas of Portal Nous but there is one Boutique Hotel that is situated above the marina of Puerto Portals. Along with its luxury accommodation, it also has a spa, swimming pool and its own club.

If you travel a little further east there is the beautiful Hotel Bendinat which is situated on the coast so there are breathtaking views from the Hotel and the gardens surrounding it. It as access to 7 golf courses that are in the area and have negotiated reduced green fees for their residents. To the east of Portal Nous, there are two boutique hotels which are situated on the headland of Punta Negra.

Further up the hill, you can find rental villas that are available year round.

Nightlife and Restaurants.

There is not much of a nightlife in Portal Nous itself because the town is quite happy with having a quiet leisurely existence but it does host a few restaurants. There are also restaurants in the towns that are close by such as Bendinat and Costa D’en Blanes.

Portal Nous is only 10km from Palma and it is also close to the Magaluf where you can find plenty of bars and night clubs. It is important to note though that even though Portal Nous is close to Palma it does not have any public transport running regularly between the two.

Things to See

There is not much to see as far as historical ruins or building are concerned but there are some attractive buildings with good architecture and you can visit the Parish Church situated above the bay.

Portal Nous is almost equidistant from Palma and Magaluf so there is enough to do in the area but if it is a leisurely holiday that you are looking for then there is no need to go further that Portal Nous with it lovely quiet beach and there are enough restaurants and shops for you to enjoy your stay while you are there.

Late 20th-century brought not only a growth in high-end property in Portal Nous , but also the construction of Puerto Portals marina , which quickly became Mallorca’s most glamorous hotspot. Bus: Local buses 104 and 107 connect directly to Palma’s Estació Intermodal public transport hub in around 50 minutes. Parking: With a large public car park at the entrance to town and another in the marina, parking during all but the busiest times of the year is not a problem. Taxi: The two main taxi stands in Portals Nous are next to the main roundabout and Plaça de Portals in the centre of town; there’s another in the marina next to the Cappuccino café.

There’s little doubt that the area’s main social and commercial hub is centred around the famously swish yacht marina. Its cluster of top-notch dining options are interspersed with designer fashion boutiques, high-end jewellers and, of course, numerous businesses dedicated to nautical pursuits. It’s a fabulous spot to while away an afternoon at one of its waterfront eateries, admiring the marina’s abundant collection of world-class vessels, or people-watch the mixture of yachters, locals and summer tourists who gather here. A stroll along the port’s breakwater quay is also a particularly pleasant one, with lovely views from the small lighthouse at its end.

Unlike so many places on the coast, Puerto Portals marina is open 365 days, hosting events, parties and meets throughout the year that draw not just locals, but residents from all over the island and beyond. As well as its excellent dining and shopping, it also provides some of the more sophisticated nightlife on Mallorca’s southwest coast . An on-going extension project is also adding underground parking and new shops and restaurants, as well as giving a much-needed facelift to nearby apartment blocks. There’s also plans to open a swanky beach club, further cranking up the port’s already ritzy profile.

Puerto Portals

Glamorous, opulent & elegant, the prestigious Puerto Portals in beautiful bay of Palma, just a 10-minute drive from the city, is one of Mallorca’s most luxurious marina complexes.

Portals Nous in photos

Portals Nous marks the start of the 32-kilometre-long Paseo Calvià promenade that runs much of the length of the Calvià municipality all the way to Santa Ponsa . It’s a well-designed pedestrian and cycle path very popular with local residents who want to stroll, bike or skate in parallel with the coast. Much of it is surrounded by lush greenery with regular rest stops, good lighting and the odd historical monument, as well as the occasional opportunity to veer off into hidden coves.

For those looking to stay closer to home, the area does have some lovely beaches too. The main stretch of sand is Playa d’Oratori – also known as Cala Portals Nous – with the ever-popular Roxy Beach Bar overlooking the far end. Also overlooking this side of the beach is a lovely little church and a spot in high demand for weddings. There are several other smaller coves either side of Puerto Portals, including Playa Punta Portals which backs on to Marineland theme park and aquarium. Further along the coast, the Sporting Club Portals specialises in tennis and padel, and doubles as one of the town’s popular social hubs.

The Oris Classic Rally

Considered one of the top sporting events in the European motor rally circuit, this classic motoring event takes place over three days in March. Puerto Portals is the focus point for the occasion, becoming a ‘parc fermé’ where fans can admire the racing cars close up.

Sunset Market

For a month over July and August, Puerto Portals is home to an open air market of around 20 stalls selling everything from seasonal products to artisan jewellery. Live music and cocktails liven things up, plus child-friendly activities keen the little ones entertained.

Taking place in the middle of September, Puerto Portals hosts one of the world’s best circuits for TP52 monohull boats. Around a dozen boats compete from around the globe across ten rounds, while the sailing lounge throws parties with live music every day.

Christmas Market

The Puerto Portals Christmas Market is one of the most popular events on the island over the festival season. As well as dozens of stalls selling an array of Christmassy gifts, decorations, and edible treats, there’s a full programme of activities for kids. A small skating rink completes the Yuletide atmosphere.

Most of the eateries in Portals Nous town are centred around Plaça de Portals, where you’ll find locals enjoying their daily coffee and catch-up or treating themselves to an evening meal. Stroll down into Puerto Portals, however, and you are spoilt for choice with a dizzying array of dining options catering to everyone from peckish Portals natives to hungry tycoons recently ashore from their super-yacht.

This means that high-end cuisine is very well represented, from the likes of upscale Italian at the aptly-named Ritzi Restaurant and the well-established Flanigan , famed for its excellent seafood and regular royal patronage. Salt Bistro is the latest in eco-conscious dining in the port, while Baiben Restaurant offers an innovative global menu under the Michelin-starred eye of Fernando Arellano . For top sushi there are two big players, the marina-front Lucy Wang and Tahini Japanese , both serving some of the island’s finest examples of Asian cooking. For Indian cuisine, there’s the Mahal Tandoori , while casual dining comes courtesy of Diablito and Lollo Rosso .

If its traditional Mallorcan fare you’re after, Portals Nous isn’t really the place. However, the Astir Restaurant at Grand Hotel Portals Nous, does promise a vibrant menu based off ingredients from Mallorca. Their commitment to the 0Km philosophy means that you’ll enjoy food that travels very little to arrive onto your plate. Prawns from Sóller , chicken from Campos and apricots from Porreres are just a few examples of the type of Mallorcan produce you can expect.

By night, locals are joined by a heady mix of boat owners, champagne-quaffing revellers, and fun-seeking tourists who descend on the marina to see and be seen. While the Cappuccino Grand Café by day is just that, come the evening it transforms into a buzzing nightspot throbbing with beats and cocktails. The rooftop terrace at BOP Bar has become one of the hottest places in town where professional mixologists, guest DJs and flamboyant shows create a intoxicating blend.

Several of the port’s restaurants also double up as lively bars come nightfall, including Ritzi Lounge Bar and Baiben Cocktail Bar , while just along the coast offers a seriously stylish spot with some of the finest sea views.

Grand Hotel Portals Nous

Towering over the tiny Calita de Portals bay, this gleaming five-star hotel is certainly one of the area’s most exclusive. A collaboration with top Dutch designer Marcel Wanders has given much the interiors wonderfully flamboyant edge, including what must be the most originally decorated spa on the island. Playfully themed bedrooms, outstanding dining, and of course some wonderful sea views makes this one of the finest places to stay on Mallorca’s south coast.

Ultimately, however, easy access to the island’s capital and some of Mallorca’s largest resorts means for most, Portals Nous is convenient home from which to commute to other economic centres.

A diverse assortment of inhabitants have chosen to make Portals Nous and its surrounding neighbourhoods their home. While British expats used to dominate amongst the non-native community, the population has since diversified hugely into ones of the island’s most varied – you’ll find Germans, Swedes and Russians rubbing along with a variety of residents from various Latin American countries. Its an area popular with retirees as much as families with kids, too, offering a genuine sense of community, year-round.

While the area is home to some serious wealth – with most of it concentrated in the hillside enclaves and swanky marina – Portals Nous residents also comprise of a spectrum of workers who go about their business supporting the nautical real estate and and tourism industries. Second-home owners flocking to their summer abodes and the annual influx of yachters, celebs and moneyed classes bring do bring a unmistakeable shift in the warmer months.

The renowned Dutch designer Marcel Wanders is associated with the area thanks to his impressive design work at the five-star Grand Hotel Portals Nous . Portals Nous can feel like a town of two worlds.
