“Good food , nice people” Review of Yachtsmans Arms

Had a lovely meal yesterday when we came down to Brightlingsea to visit family. Pub is located right by the harbour which is a lovely spot Staff are very friendly, attentive and helpful Food was lovely , good honest pub grub, well cooked and presented , nice size portions and a good selection on the menu Beer was great too, enjoyed the IPA Thanks

Visited the yachthmans today for the first time in 4 years, after my mum moved from brightlingsea. We just fancied a drive out to remind ourselves how lovely the town is. After a walk round, we had to go in for lunch. So pleased to see it was pretty much how I remembered it. Food was excellent and the staff were so friendly, as were the locals as I always remembered . Bought back some happy memories. Hope to see them again soon.

Been coming to Brightlingsea for 15 years as my mum lives here and I absolutely love this place! The staff have always been friendly and nothing is to much trouble. I love the menu there’s always something to suit all our differing tastes in food as a family and as a couple. The bar area is comfortably and the restaurant is just as it should be. There are games available to play like connect four and uno to keep the children occupied or thrash your partner 😂. There’s a heated outside area also. There’s a lot of pubs in Brightlingsea but this is definitely a winner.

We dined at the Yachtsman twice, once at lunchtime and again the following evening. Food both days was excellent, large portions and reasonably priced. In fact it was good home cooked food. My husband had the ham, eggs and chips both times, the ham was some of the best he'd had. I had fish and chips and then the following day their fish pie special again both were excellent and large portions. Also we shared an apple & rhubarb crumble with custard, it was delicious, it was also big enough for two. Staff were friendly and welcoming as well. Would definitely go there again if we are visiting in the future.

Superb, friendly pub/restaurant. Prices really reasonable and excellent food at the right price! Service is immaculate with friendly and attentive staff.

Fantastic food, really friendly staff and dog friendly. Our dogs loved the meat off cuts as their Sunday treat! Thoroughly recommended. 😃

great food and so clean the sea food is amazing staff friendly and all covid measures applied thankyou my 1st meal out since covid began

We were staying in the town and this was the closest pub to our holiday home, I'm so glad. The atmospher is very warm and freindly. We visited 4 times at different times of day, Sunday lunch, midweek lunch and evening meal and Just for a drink on Saturday afternoon. The food was fantastic, reasonably priced and very good quality. We had a drink with the owner and chef on our last evening they are very passionate about their profession and it shows. The locals made us welcome the front of house staff were wonderful, helpful and freindly. We did not try anywhere else because this place suited us for where we were staying and why try and beat it if somewhere has everything you want. You all made our holiday. Thank you. Hope to see you all again sometime. (hope mum and baby are doing well) Jo and Steve

Great meal yesterday lunch time. FOH all extremely friendly from start to finish, and don't even get me started on how good the ribs are on the specials menu!!! Fall off the bone with more of a hoisin/ plum sauce glaze rather than the usual, fairly predictable, BBQ sauce most places offer. 10/10 and am already thinking of an excuse to return. Massive compliments to your BOH team too.

Greene King real ales plus a guest ale and a decent food menu. Homemade fish pie very good. Probably in high season had a better vibe but when we went rather dominated by locals lunchtime drinking at the bar with most chatting heavily interspersed with f***.

Having worked up a thirst walking around the town and water front, the yachtsman's Arms looked very inviting. Set midst an old part of the town, although. the building itself lacks style, it's in a area full of character with a rich mix of older buildings, and also near to the water front. The pub interior is OK. No old beams here, but geometrically plain and lots of tables in an open plan sort of bar. But the menu was varied and I enjoyed the whitebait. Some of us had teas and coffees, and I had a dry cider, and this was served quickly and pleasantly. The pub was pleasantly busy and had a good atmosphere. It's a good pub doing a brisk trade and serving simple tasty food. Well done.

A pub that is split into two sections. One serving beer etc and the other a cafe which I believe opens early for breakfast. The only real ales on offer are GK Abbot and Insipid Pale Ale. Opposite the Brightlingsea ferry.
