The '70s-style band Yacht Rock Revue will perform at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. 

Originally a cover band, Yacht Rock Revue's first album includes 10 original songs inspired by the "smooth sounds" from the '70s and '80s (think Toto, Chicago & Steely Dan).

As a cover band, Yacht Rock Revue has shared a stage with John Oates, Eddie Money, and Player, but music from their "Hot Dads in Tight Jeans" album has taken the Atlanta-based, nine-member ensemble to new heights.

With catchy tunes like "The Doobie Bounce," "Step" and "Bad Tequila," the band's cheeky performances have delighted audiences from Webster Hall in New York to the Wiltern in Los Angeles.

The limited-capacity concert will include distance seating and enhanced safety protocols including contactless digital ticketing, face covering requirements, and mobile ordering for concessions.

Admission: Ticket prices range from $40 to $67. Tickets can be purchased online or at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Office, which is open on Thursdays and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Where: The St. Augustine Amphitheatre is located at 1340C A1A South in St. Augustine.

Parking Information : The Amp St. Augustine is located on Anastasia Island next to Anastasia State Park. Limited paid parking is available in The Amp's Main Lot, but only with advance purchase of a Premium Parking ticket. Free satellite parking areas are located within one mile of the Amphitheatre, at R.B. Hunt Elementary and at Anastasia State Park (see map below).

Shuttle Information : The St. Augustine Amphitheatre shuttle system begins its run 45 minutes prior to show time. The shuttle will pick up event patrons at four designated shuttle stops: the R.B. Hunt Elementary School Soccer Field, the west entrance of the Anastasia State Park Main Parking Lot, the Loop at the Anastasia State Park, and the entrance of the St. Augustine Amphitheatre. Shuttles will run continuously until approximately 45 minutes after the scheduled start time of a concert. For anyone wanting to leave prior to the end of a show, shuttles will begin taking people back to the satellite parking areas one hour before the event is over. The driver will not depart The Amp until the shuttle is more than 50% full.

Yacht Rock Revue will be at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on Saturday, May 20, 2023 with their Reverse Sunset Tour.  The 9-piece ensemble brings their the smooth sounds of the ‘70s and ‘80s soft rock to the masses on a new scale.

This top-notch group of musicians has already rocked onstage with John Oates, Eddie Money (RIP), and both versions of the band Player. They’ve trademarked the term “yacht rock”, both metaphorically and literally (U.S. Registration Number 3834195).

From humble beginnings in a basement, they now headline sold-out shows across the country. While rising from bars to amphitheaters, they’ve ticked every box on the Rock Star Accomplishments bingo card. Except for one …. writing and singing their own songs.

The St. Augustine Amphitheatre, in partnership with Adams Entertainment, is pleased to announce that eclectic rock band Yacht Rock Revue will perform at The Amp on Saturday, May 15, 2021 for a limited-capacity concert with distanced seating. Enhanced safety measures and protocols are in place, including contactless digital ticketing, face covering requirements, and mobile ordering for concessions. Tickets for Yacht Rock Revue go on sale Friday, April 9 at 12:00pm at the venue Box Office or online at Ticketmaster.com.

“I had a midlife crisis. That’s why we made this album,” says Nick Niespodziani, the group’s singer, guitarist, and spiritual leader. “Everyone in the band is a dad now, so we needed to make this happen, before we become grandpas. I’ve sung ‘Escape’ by Rupert Holmes at least a thousand times, and if that isn’t paying your dues, I don’t know what is.”

Yacht Rock Revue began in the least-yachtiest of states, 2,000 miles from breezy Marina del Rey. Niespodziani and Pete Olson met in the fourth grade in suburban Indiana, went on to Indiana University in the late Nineties, formed the band Y-O-U, then escaped – Rupert Holmes reference intended – to Atlanta. One night, Y-O-U tucked their tongues deep in their cheeks and played a show of Yacht Rock songs. The rowdy (a nice way of saying drunk), sold-out crowd loved it.

Hot Dads In Tight Jeans is as plush and shiny as Kenny Loggins’ beard. And YRR are already dropping these new songs into their sets, to great response from longtime fans who are thrilled to hear new smooth. While others in YRR’s position stick with the tried-and-true, Niespodziani hopes the album will let them welcome aboard new fans, too. To paraphrase a notable mariner... they’re gonna need a bigger yacht.

Tickets for Yacht Rock Revue go on sale Friday, April 9 at 12:00pm at The St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Office and online at Ticketmaster.com. Tickets are sold in pre-configured pods (groupings) ranging from two to six seats per pod. Each pod is at least six feet from one to the next, and all seats within the pod must be purchased together. Additionally, all tickets are digital. The St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Office will be open on Fridays from 10:00am-6:00pm and Saturdays from 8:30am-12:30pm, and will only accept payment via debit or credit card.

RIAA-certified Gold a cappella group Straight No Chaser will set sail this summer on “The Yacht Rock Tour,” sparking sing-alongs to classic 80’s songs of summer throughout the US. Chart-topping yacht rock pioneers Ambrosia (“How Much I Feel,” “Biggest Part Of Me,” “You’re The Only Woman,” and “Holdin’ On To Yesterday”) will join as special guest. 

In addition to the tour, Straight No Chaser will release a full-length album, Yacht On The Rocks , a trove of yacht rock classics, on June 23.  Produced by Nicholas Niespodziani, singer, guitarist, and spiritual leader of Yacht Rock Revue, the album will include classics like “Escape (The Piña Colada Song),” “Sailing,” and “After The Love Has Gone.” The first single, a reworking of Kenny Loggins’ “Heart to Heart,” is set for release March 10.

“What could possibly sound more like summer than yacht rock?” said group member Steve Morgan.  “We can’t wait to hit the road and celebrate the season of leisure with our fans.  Grab a frozen beverage and beat the heat with us, reliving the decade of cool tunes and smooth sailing.”

Initially formed at Indiana University, a cappella group Straight No Chaser emerged at the forefront of the modern day a cappella movement, and has since sold more than three million albums worldwide, garnered more than a billion streams on Pandora alone, and sold more than 1.5 million concert tickets worldwide.  In the fall of 2022, the group performed in more than 60 cities across the US with multiple sold out shows, including their 26th consecutive sell-out in Indianapolis. Pollstar named the group in their top 30 touring acts in the United States last year.

About Yacht Rock Revue

Yacht Rock Revue is an American rock band formed in Atlanta, Georgia in 2007. The band was formed by members of the now defunct indie rock band Y-O-U after an ironic performance of soft rock hits at a local club gig took off into a weekly residence. Performing primarily covers, the band's set list is centered around a genre called "yacht rock", coined by the early 2000s web series of the same name, consisting primarily of soft rock from the 1970s and 1980s, but at times including songs as recent as the early 1990s. Although the Yacht Rock Revue started as a side project, it is now the main focus for all seven band members: Peter Olson, Nicholas Niespodziani, Mark Cobb, Greg Lee, Mark Bencuya, Mark Dannells, and David Freeman. The band has a contract with Live Nation and tours nationally, playing more than 100 shows a year and selling out theaters in Los Angeles, Boston, Atlanta, and Washington DC. In order to keep up with demand, a subsidiary band was launched in 2009 called Yacht Rock Schooner. In 2015, two of the founding band members, Peter Olson and Nicholas Niespodziani, opened Venkman's, a restaurant and music venue in Atlanta's Old 4th Ward neighborhood. In 2018, Jawbone Press released The Yacht Rock Book: The Oral History of the Soft, Smooth Sounds of the 70s and 80s by author Greg Prato, which explored the entire history of the genre. The book featured an interview with Niespodziani, as well as Christopher Cross, Kenny Loggins, and John Oates, among others. In fall 2019, the band released their first original single, "Step". Further, they announced their first album of original material, Hot Dads in Tight Jeans. The album was released on February 21, 2020.
