Builder : Corsair Yachts Year : 2007 Designer : Neil Taylor , Imt Marine Consultants , Luxury Projects

After failing to find a suitable renovation project, British entrepreneur Neil Taylor commissioned Nero and modelled her after JP Morgan's 1930s steam yacht Corsair IV . She was delivered just in time for her scheduled debut at the Antigua Charter Show , cutting it so tight that the crew were sewing cushion covers while crossing. Leisure highlights include an upper deck gym, beauty saloon-come-massage room and cosy interiors – including a springy handmade bouclé carpet.

Victorious – 85m

Builder : AKYACHT Year : 2021 Designer : Michael Leach Design , Marco Yachts , H2 Yacht Design

A superyacht more than 14 years in the making , Victorious is an explorer yacht finished to a luxury standard – a project that Leach described as "really refreshing". Noteworthy features include a touch-and-go helipad, an observation lounge with a baby grand piano, a wood-burning marble fireplace, wine cellar and humidor for enjoying a cigar on the terrace. Her range is an impressive 13,000 nautical miles, perfect for long exploration voyages.

Victorious will be exhibited by Fraser .

Talisman C – 70.6m

Builder : Proteksan Turquoise Year : 2011 Designer : H2 Yacht Design , Hydro Tec

Talisman C ' s original owner was looking to upgrade from a 54.2-metre to one that could carry more tenders and toys. The result? A full-width aft garage that can accommodate a 7.7-metre Ski Nautique Super Air for powered sports, a seven-metre Novurania Chase 23 tender and a Narwhal rescue tender. A split-level master suite sits forward on the main deck and is described by the broker as having a "boudoir décor", with voile curtains around the king-sized bed and crystal chandeliers as bedside reading lights. She was a finalist at the World Superyacht Awards .

Triumph – 65.4m

Builder : Benetti Year : 2021 Designer : Giorgio M. Cassetta , Pierluigi Ausonio , Green & Mingarelli Design

With six decks and a 11.2-metre beam, Triumph has six "opulent" cabins and plenty of space leftover for leisure. The superyacht comes equipped with a sauna, a gym, a massage room and a Jacuzzi. Her 70-square-metre beach club comes with a drop down platform, while a touch-and-go helipad is located on the bow. Interiors are contemporary and "cosmopolitan", incorporating materials such as Crema Marfil marble, fur and glass by Lalique. Meanwhile, a "highly efficient hull" allows for long-distance silent cruising.

Seanna – 64.5m

Builder : Benetti Year : 2011 Designers : Stefano Natucci , Redman Whiteley Dixon , Susan Young

Another World Superyacht Awards finalist, Seanna ' s design combines several Benetti brand motifs including covered companionways and sculpted mullions. A grand marble lobby is found at the heart of the yacht and her interior is finished in fine Italian leathers, rich walnut woodwork and nickel inlays. The main saloon converts to a cinema and there is a separate television lounge adjacent to the formal dining room, while the main deck also boasts a massage room for two and a library with an electric fireplace.

Seanna will be exhibited by Burgess.

Come Together – 60m

Builder : Amels Year : 2022 Designers : Espen Oeino International , Damen Yachting , Winch Design

The first unit in the Amels 60 series (and the only Amels 60 on the market ), Come Together was commissioned by a serial superyacht owner who, unsurprisingly, happens to be a fan of The Beatles . Accommodation is for up to 12 guests and includes a vast owner's suite with folding balcony, office and lounge area. Her crowning glory is a 27-metre sundeck complete with a raised sun lounging space, a Jacuzzi, a bar and an extendable dining table protected from the elements. As the sun sets, the space can be transformed into an open-air cinema or a party area with DJ decks.

Come Together will be exhibited by Edmiston .

Skyfall – 57.9m

Builder : Trinity Yachts Year : 2010 Designers : Geoff Van Aller , Patrick Knowles

Accommodation is for 14 persons onboard Skyfall , including a split-level, full-beam master suite that benefits from a king-size bed, private study, private lounge and his-and-hers baths. Other highlights include touch-and-go helicopter capability, a tender garage and a passenger elevator through three decks with wheelchair access. ABS classed and MCA compliant, she was designed to have a transatlantic range, but also has a draft suitable for cruising the Bahamas and US East Coast. British boxer David Haye once chartered the yacht in Miami .

Skyfall will be exhibited by FGI Yacht Group.

Liberty – 57m

Builder : Trinity Yachts Year : 2012 Designers : Geoff Van Aller , Evan K. Marshall

Designed for entertaining, Liberty boasts a dance floor, a 12-person formal dining area and a full-service bar in the main saloon. Her sundeck is equally well-equipped for socialising with its large Jacuzzi and open sunbathing area, made complete with four chaise lounges. A semi-enclosed bar with a fridge, icemaker and liquid propane gas barbecue can be found aft, all shaded under a hard top. Liberty was repainted in 2020 and her 10-year survey was completed in 2022.

Liberty will be exhibited by IYC .

Next Chapter – 55m

Builder : Benetti Year : 2003 Designers : Stefano Natucci

The star yacht in season six of Below Deck Mediterranean , Next Chapter (then Lady Michelle ) can accommodate up to 13 guests. A split-level owner's suite with an observation lounge and study are among the highlights of this yacht, as is the large sundeck with a spa pool and air-conditioned gymnasium. The al fresco offerings continue with a spacious beach club, variety of water toys (including a 13.7-metre Yamaha) and beach barbecue. She benefitted from a refit in 2023.

Olympus – 55m

Builder : Feadship Year : 1996 Designers : Winch Design , Frits De Voogt

Olympus remained under the same ownership until 2022, when she changed hands and joined the market following a $10,000,000 refit completed at Monaco Marine. The yacht is exceptionally voluminous for her length, offering 881GT of interior volume granted by a 10-metre beam. Accommodation is for up to 16 guests, with a two-master layout said "to be ideal for long-term, live-aboard cruising". The larger owner's cabin benefits from a private observation lounge and its own en suite gym and hairdressing salon. An elevator services all decks.

Ice Bear – 52m

Builder : Feadship Year : 1988 Designers : Frits De Voogt , Paola D. Smith , Associates In Design

Vintage Feadship Ice Bear has only been privately used since her delivery. Five cabins accommodate a party of ten, with a full-beam master suite on the main deck and four more spacious and "colourful themed" cabins – two twins and two doubles – on the lower deck. Guests have plenty of places to congregate or find solitude, from the main deck dining room to a unique sky lounge and observation deck. On the aft deck are two fixed fishing chairs complemented by a range of seating.

Nita K II – 52m

Builder : Amels Year : 2004 Designers : Terence Disdale , Alberto Pinto

Nita K II benefits from expansive social areas both inside and out, with three outdoor levels that feature several seating, dining and lounging options. Accommodation is for up to 12 guests, including a full-beam owner's cabin with his and hers bathrooms, walk-in wardrobe and large office that can be closed off from the bedroom. Her interiors incorporate eight varieties of wood alongside other "fine materials".

The 192-foot Kokomo was the second largest sloop in the world when it launched from New Zealand’s Alloy Yachts shipyard in 2010. It remains the largest fast-cruising sloop available for charter. The yacht’s commissioning owner Lang Walker (who died in January 2024) was a seasoned sailor who gave all three of his yachts the same name.

The first was a 131-foot sloop, which Walker replaced five years later with a 171-footer. The same day he took delivery of his 171-foot sloop, he placed an order for the third and final 192-foot Kokomo, which he planned to use for racing and cruising around the world. He also kept the same design team for all three yachts, with exterior and naval architecture by Ed Dubois and interior by UK’s RWD.

The reference to the yacht’s name has had different explanations over the years, ranging from the pseudonym of a composer whose music Walker played as a child to a nod to the Beach Boys’s song from their 1988 album Still Cruisin’ , which references a fictional utopian island called Kokomo. The island fantasy was brought to life in 2011 when Walker acquired a private island in Fiji’s Great Astrolabe Reef and named it Kokomo .

Here are eight unknown facts about one of the most game-changing sailing yachts on the water.

You’re Going to Need a Bigger Boom

When Kokomo was launched, she was the second-largest sloop in the world and carried the largest set of sails made by Doyle Sails in New Zealand. The 23,971-square-foot asymmetric spinnaker is half the size of a professional football field, while the 9,688-square-foot mainsail needs a crane to lift it. Because of the gargantuan size of the sails, the designers entered a new era of spar and winch design, having to “reinvent” the deck equipment—winches, mast, boom, rigging and sails—to cope with the 31.6-ton load on the genoa sheet and 32-ton load on the main sheet clew. The 244-foot carbon mast is the largest ever made by Southern Spars.

A Hidden Lifting Keel

The yacht’s 130-ton lifting keel is one of its most impressive features, though it’s largely left to the imagination. The interior layout is carefully designed so that the keel structure remains hidden. Dubois Naval Architects positioned the keel box to come above the main deck, serving as a partial separation between the bridge and the main salon (see inset). Kokomo was only the second yacht to be fitted with a lifting a keel, the first being 246-foot M5 (ex-Mirabella V), the world’s largest single-masted sailing yacht. This innovative design shortens Kokomo’s 28.5-foot draft when the keel is fully extended, to just 15 feet for shallow waters.

Fast-Track Sailing

Kokomo was one of the first yachts to be fitted with a hydraulic batt-car system for furling the mainsail, which has cars at each batten end that slot in an outer track on the mast. This alleviates a once-common issue where the luff tape or bolt rope on large sailing yachts became chaffed by the compression of the battens, which often caused the in-boom furling mainsails to fail. “When sailing Kokomo , especially when racing, I am completely impressed with the speed and efficiency of the hydraulic system,” says Kokomo ’s captain, Jeremy ‘Bear’ Wynne, who notes the yacht’s recorded top speed is a very impressive 22 knots. “The jib furlers are some of the fastest I have seen. There is absolutely no shortage of hydraulic power, even with multiple winches running on a jibe—a rarity on a big sailing yacht.”

Now You See It, Now You Don’t

Kokomo might be big on technology, but never at the expense of design. The wheelhouse has fold-down computer screens that conceal the navigation equipment when not in use, converting to beautiful carbon counter tops. This design sleight of hand transforms a highly technical area into a tony lounge. It’s a theme that extends to the foredeck, where the yacht’s two tenders are concealed in dedicated lockers. There’s also a fully retractable tender crane that launches the tenders from either side of the boat but disappears out of sight when guests are using the Jacuzzi. “The designated deck lockers were an advanced feature at the time of her launch,” says Wynne, adding that another bonus is that diesel tanks are fully available. “The tenders can be fueled onboard before launching.”

It Takes Just A Few Good Sailors

Kokomo can accommodate up to 10 crew in total, but theoretically it only takes two to sail—a helm person and a sail trimmer. That sounds almost impossible given the size and complexity of yacht. But all sails are controlled by joystick on the flybridge. And when the boat is in full-on racing mode, there are control stations on both sides, providing visibility of the sails. Thanks to the hydraulics system, the mainsail can be hoisted and lowered on a wireless remote control. Of course, maneuvers like stowing the massive genoa can never be automated. That’s a job for a half-dozen good sailors.

Art On Board

The hallway that leads to the owner’s cabin is lined with a mosaic tapestry made from sea glass woven together with wire. Backlit to create an unusual effect, it’s just one of the eclectic works of art that decorates the interior. The main salon also has a stunning and colorful work of glass art as another example.

Interior Matters

Kokomo is not all tech features. The yacht’s modern interiors combine dark wood floors and calming cream furnishings start in the main salon and continue across the five guest cabins. Penned by British studio Redman Whiteley Dixon, the design carefully wraps around the lifting keel without sacrificing or impeding on any interior guest space. The yacht accommodates up to 10 guests in a master suite, VIP, one double cabin and two twins. There are other accommodations for up to 10 crew. On the foredeck, the Jacuzzi brings another element of outdoor entertainment, bolstered by a sunken cockpit.

World Traveler

The mandate issued by Walker was to create a yacht that was a “quantum leap forward” from his previous yachts, with superior sailing characteristics and guest comfort. The mast’s height is too tall to sail through the Panama or Suez Canals, which meant it would have to be designed to sail around Cape Horn and the Cape of Good Hope to reach the Caribbean and Mediterranean. The maiden voyage took the yacht from the New Zealand shipyard to Australia, New Caledonia, the Solomon Islands, and Fiji. It also spent time at Walker’s private island (pictured above), also named Kokomo. The vessel has since spent many years exploring the Caribbean and Med. It’s based in both regions during the respective cruising seasons, with charters available through Cecil Wright.

One of the boats in PortMiami crash operated as illegal charter, Coast Guard says

O ne of the two tour boats involved a crash that injured 13 people near PortMiami , one critically, was operating as an illegal charter, the Coast Guard said Wednesday.

Sunday’s crash prompted a large, multi-agency emergency response, with patients being taken to area hospitals, including Jackson Memorial in Miami.

According to the Coast Guard, the captain of the Obelix, a 43-foot, luxury center-console vessel powered by five engines, wasn’t licensed to have paid passengers on board, a violation of the Passenger Vessel Safety Act, said Petty Officer 3rd Class Eric Rodriguez, a spokesman for the service.

That boat, and the 55-foot Thriller 06 speed boat, which operates out of Bayside Marketplace and can carry 36 passengers, collided around 3:15 p.m.

The Obelix is operated by Midnight Sun Boat Charters, which, according to its website, began in 2014 with day charters in the U.S. Virgin Islands and has since expanded to Miami. The boat leaves out of Haulover Marine Center.

The company’s owner, State Jakab, told the Miami Herald in a text Wednesday that he is discussing the issue with investigators, but disagrees with the Coast Guard’s finding.

“It is our position that we were operating within the terms of a legal charter,” Jakab said. “Furthermore, we have not been informed officially by Coast Guard of such a finding or decision.”

One of the passengers injured in the crash was taken to the hospital in critical condition, Rodriguez said. It was not immediately clear which boat that person was on.

Rodriguez said the Coast Guard issued a “vessel safety inspection requirement” on the Thriller 06, meaning it cannot conduct passenger operations until the damages it sustained in the crash can be repaired.
