The amazing, rare, gorgeous Condor 40 trimarans

The most beautiful boats to ever sail the seven seas, and the fastest production sailboat ever, with a top speed of 45+ mph (ordinary sailboat’s top speed: 8 mph), the futuristic trimarans were designed by Condor Limited co-founders Phil Herting and Mick Price, and built in Annapolis from 1985 to 1991. There are only twenty-one Condor 40’s in the world, making them a very rare boat. Indeed, the first Condor 40 was named “Endangered Species.”

A Ferrari on the water, like something out of Star Wars, turning heads wherever they go, Condor 40’s are 40 ft. long, 28 ft. wide, bullet-proof, and built to take anything that Mother Nature can dish out. They were designed to be incredibly stable to survive racing in 40-50 ft. seas the ocean races – including “around the world” races with only 1 or 2 crew members.

And its their incredible stability that makes them safer and more fun for everyone from kids to grandparents! Sailing on a Condor, there’s none of the typical twisting, topsy-turvy sailboat/powerboat motion. And no leaning = no seasickness! If you avoid boating because you get seasick, then this is the fun, relaxing experience of a lifetime you’ve been waiting for. We’ve never had anyone get seasick: that includes women who are 2 to 8 months pregnant.

Condor 40′s are roomy. On ordinary sailboats/powerboats it’s like riding the bus because you’re stuck in your seat in the cockpit almost the entire time. But on a Condor — with her two roomy side-decks, huge bow, and dual pontoons — you have plenty of room to leisurely recline, stretch out in super-comfy seats, or easily explore the boat, lazily dangle your feet in the water, get splashed, and watch the mesmerizing water fly by.

40' Condor Racing Trimarin. Built in 1988, this vessel sat way up the Miami River for 10 years, so it's had very little use. Extremely fast, very strong and stable. Great sails and equipment. Main, 110% Genoa (on roller-furler), Spinnaker Twin 4-Stroke 9.9 outboards with lift-brackets mounted on custom aluminum transom, Custom aluminum radar arch on stern, custom Edison wheel and pedestal with fixed rudder - (original kick-up rudder included), Stainless Steel Dodger, auto-pilot, GPS, VHF, some new rigging with Sta-Lok fittings, new main and spare halyards and other new lines. Self Tailing Winches, New canvas and oak below, porta-potti. Slab Reefing, Lazy Jacks, Stax-Packer, 2 Stainless Anchor mounts, All lines lead to cockpit for Cockpit Control, Boom Vang, Preventers, etc. 2 large hatches replace the original small inspection ports in each Ama (4 hatches - 2 in each hull) - making huge interior storage space in each hull - These hatches are large enough to allow a sailor to get down below into each Ama. The original hulls did not have this option. You can store sails, fenders, lines, fuel, etc in this space, allowing more room in the main hull for your personal equipment. This feature turns this racing machine into a comfortable cruiser. This is a Thoroughbred racing machine. Condors were built to OSTAR standard.,They are Blue-Water race tough, using top-of-the line materials like E and Bi-axial glass; and built to last. Also, vinylester resin was used throughout, which has kept Condors from suffering blistering issues. I have seen 6-8 foot waves break over this boat while sailing to windward and did not hear any creaking. This boat was built for short-handed trans-Atlantic racing. Clear Title in hand. Condor-40 trimaran for sale in Saint Augustine FLA. $45K. With all accessories and new inflatable. This will most likely be our last sailing season aboard JAZ. She is such a marvelous vessel. My plan is to arrive in Saint Augustine December 9th to prep and splash her for another wonderful adventure. Many folks have shown interest in purchasing her last year but due to Covid I chose not to sell her as we were unsure of what other vacation options would be available this year. The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more.

Sail Area / Displacement Ratio
