• 1978 Lola T-440 Formula Ford

The Lola T440 was considered by many to be the most beautiful Formula Ford racer of its period and we purchased it just for this very reason. Powered by a 1600 Ford Kent crossflow engine this British racer car runs on vintage Dunlop tires and can produce up to 1.5 g’s in corners. During its production in the late 70′ the engine was moved forward to help increase front axle weight, but over time  this practice was reversed to improve handling.

This Lola was campaigned by Dirk Schuman until 1991 in East Coast SCCA events until it’s retirement. The car was then stored until 2007 after which a NJ schoolteacher attempted to restore the race car as part of a high school shop project. We were able to acquire the Lola in 2013 from him and have completed a three and half year no expense spared frame-up restoration. The engine as well as transmission were completely disassembled and rebuilt by the best in the business.  Now with the car properly set up and sorted the Lola T440 has been successfully raced at NJ motorsports park.

Superyacht Lady Lola sold by Merle Wood and Fraser Yachts

Now for the eighth and largest sale so far this month as Cromwell Littlejohn at Merle Wood & Associates tells me that he and Merle Wood acted for the buyer in the sale of the 62.6m motor yacht Lady Lola , listed by Antoine Althaus at Fraser Yachts.

Built in 2002 by Oceanco to a design by The ‘A’ Group, Lady Lola was at the time hailed as the highest quality yacht yet launched from the yard. Lloyds classed and MCA compliant, her interior by François Zuretti is themed around Norwegian birch burl wood and mahogany, with a liberal use of fine marbles.

Accommodation is for 10 guests in five staterooms including an owner’s suite on the main deck with its own private deck and saloon, while the four cabins below deck are all near-identical VIP staterooms. Refitted in 2005 and featuring a convertible helicopter pad among many other innovations, Lady Lola has two 1650hp Caterpillar engines powering her to a range of 5,500 nautical miles.

Lola Description

New 2023 build! The Bali 5.4 is a ´Multihull of the Year´ award-winning catamaran. The design was new to the market in 2019 and provided a fresh approach to sailing. It is revolutionary in how space is accessed, with deliberate attention to flow and open space and it succeeds in producing a scale that feels less like a boat, and more like an upscale floating condominium. Bali catamarans are known and appreciated for their unparalleled success in blending luxury, space, and performance; producing a sailing experience that is unparalleled. This new design further capitalizes on that reputation with the advent of the ´Bali garage door´ that is the centerpiece of the yacht. It allows for the aft wall of the yacht to simply disappear, opening up the back of the yacht to an unobstructed view of paradise. This also affords indoor/outdoor dining options and gives the ever-present Caribbean breeze ample opportunity to make its way through the yacht with ease. With her solid foredeck gone are the forward trampolines, replaced by a large relaxing lounge area complete with cushions for sunbathing. A full-sized door provides access directly from the lounge area into the salon, allowing free movement through the yacht. A walk up to the flybridge unveils a seating area perfect for cocktails and taking in sunsets. There is also another area for sunbathing on the flybridge where you can take in the sights of the islands from the highest vantage point on the yacht. The Bali open space design is further complimented by the superior outfit and aftermarket items available on Lola. No detail has been left unnoticed from the fine linens, pillows and throws to the wine glasses, serving and flatware that make every day feel luxurious. She has been stocked full with every appliance and kitchen accessory to allow the chef to fully showcase the mastery of their art. And the water toys abound, allowing guests to fully experience all the Caribbean has to offer, both in and out of the water. Lola will accommodate 8 charter quests in 3 spacious queen cabins and 1 sprawling master cabin for those who desire more space. She is a brand new 2023 sailing catamaran with teak, hard top, hydraulic lift, solar panels, air conditioning, water maker, ice maker, full sized refrigerator, a fully customizable menu, Caribbean made ecofriendly and reef safe toiletries, a bar stocked to guest preference, coffee/espresso machine, rendezvous scuba diving, snorkeling gear, underwater scooters, wakeboard, stand up paddle board, 10 ft. floating dock, pool noodles, fishing gear, board and card games, television in the salon, Fusion 3 Bluetooth enabled sound system and Lola giveaways.

CAPTAIN Hugo O´Kelly Hugo is a seasoned sailor who has been captivated by water from a young age. He grew up in England, in a small county just outside of London and spent most holidays by the seaside of Cornwall. At the tender age of seven, Hugo discovered his passion for sailing, racing lasers and 49er´s while at school. Later in his youth he became an instructor for this. Hugo´s passion for sailing and the ocean grew stronger after school, so he headed to the South of France to work on luxury Superyachts. At 18, he was selected and sponsored to race across the Atlantic being the youngest crew in the fleet. This is when Hugo realized his true calling. He completed his Yacht Masters amongst other qualifications with the dream of becoming a captain. Hugo has at present, worked as Skipper and 1st Mate on luxury yachts of up to 100ft. From sailing charters to sea-life safari tours - he´s been sailing in some of the most beautiful and exotic locations around the world. After completing his second crossing to Antigua, he is currently obtaining his Ocean Master. When he´s not at work, Hugo is an avid water-sports enthusiast and instructor. He loves to coach waterskiing, wakeboarding, and wake-surfing. Surfing, diving and fishing are also just a few of his many hobbies. Whether on the water or on land, Hugo is always seeking new adventures and finding ways to connect with the sea. There she elevated her passion for hospitality to a professional career. The boat (Lola) was wonderful, clean, comfortable and just the right amount of space for everyone. We loved sitting on the bow or upon the flybridge - especially while underway. We appreciated learning more about what we were seeing and hearing about your experiences. We have traveled extensively, including previous catamaran charters in the BVI, and this has been a family favorite. You made everything easy thanks to your impeccable organization. Hugo & Judith This trip was a blessing in so many ways. The adventure, sight, food and memories made were some of the highlights expected coming into this trip. Dear Trina, I wanted to fully respond to your earlier question regarding how our charter on Lolalita went. Lolalita should be on the very top of your list for charters! To begin: Ernie, Megan and Jeff could not have been more gracious, helpful, imaginative and pleasant to be around. As you know we chartered with our three children ages; 25, 24 and 20. All of which have since commented on how much fun they had and how much they enjoyed being around the crew. Ernie's personality and sense of humor were pleasant and engaging to be around the entire trip. Megan was spectacular with all meals, each was a mini celebration! Megan's gentle personality mixed with broad understanding of the waters made for a wonderful combination. We requested healthy meals during our stay, she managed to not only make them healthy, but excited the gourmands in our family. Jeff's contributions were thoroughly enjoyed by my children and also by Linda and I. His attentiveness, knowledge and assistance during our many snorkeling adventures, as well as transportations for nightlife made the trip exciting. The sailing was done in an expert manner, even given the myriad of questions we were asking while underway. The Lolalita herself is expertly maintained, warm and very comfortable. Merle Wood & Associates is pleased to announce that the 205’ (62m) LADY LOLA yacht sold this week. Winner of a Showboats International Award, and constructed at the renowned Dutch yard Oceanco, LADY LOLA has a wide beam of 34’5” (10.5m) and a draft of 11’11” (3.65m). Purposely built for ultimate privacy, the entire upper deck is dedicated to her owners. The forward master stateroom offers 270-degree panoramic views, a private study and his-and-hers separate en suites complete with a hot tub; a sheltered terrace allows for private al fresco breakfasts, or simply some time alone. The private owners’ salon aft features a 60” TV with surround sound for ultimate viewing pleasure. Able to accommodate 10 guests in 5 staterooms, 4 guest suites are on the lower deck, each with its own en suite and large wardrobes. Accommodation for a total of 16 crew ensures first-class service.

This is the fourth time since 2002 that Merle Wood & Associates is able to announce the LADY LOLA yacht sold, which is a testament to our abilities as a yacht brokerage firm, with a sales record that is truly second to none.

The LADY LOLA yacht sold with a convertible helipad, which was added in 2005 in a small refit, however her interior was completely redesigned in 2012 to the vision of yacht designer Francois Zuretti. The well-known yacht designer generously retained the use of exquisite marbles and Norwegian birch burl and mahogany woods, creating an ambience of understated elegance.

Lloyd’s-classed and MCA-compliant, the LADY LOLA yacht sold to new owners who wanted the ideal vessel for entertainment and pleasure. Constructed in steel and aluminum by Oceanco and styled by yacht designers at The A Group, her oversized sun deck is large enough to host 120 guests for docked parties, and features a plunge pool adorned with a waterfall to make her the perfect vessel on which to entertain guests. Rounding out the unique amenities are a retractable golf tee, al fresco theater, and a gym. Two distinct al fresco dining options with a retractable awning each offer exquisite views, while a 28’ Novurania tender rests on the beach platform.

Powered by two Cat 3512B DITA engines, she has a maximum speed of 15 knots, and a cruising speed of 12 knots, with a range of 4,500nm. Zero-speed stabilizers keep guests comfortable.

Additional Rate Details: GENERAL NOTES: MINIMUM NIGHTS: 4 For 6 night charters, divide weekly rate by 7 nights X 6 nights. For 5 nights or less, divide weekly rate by 6 nights X number of nights. 48 HOURS REQUIRED FOR TURNAROUND Please inquire if you need a cabin change SLEEP ABOARD: Sleep aboard the night before charter dates. Available for $300 per cabin, with a 3 cabin minimum. Includes boarding after 4pm, welcome cocktail and canapes plus a light breakfast the next morning. Dinner is to be taken ashore at client expense. LOCAL FARE: Includes: 7 breakfasts, 5 lunches & 5 dinners. Requires 2 lunches and 2 dinners ashore at client expense. -For local fare, deduct $150 per person off the charter rate CHRISTMAS/NEW YEARS: 7 night minimum. Scrub Island ports required.
