Built in Bodrum, Turkey, to traditional “gulet” design, Levent Kaptan I is a classic, wooden sailboat, a graceful 28 meter African mahogany yacht.

Renovated and updated every year, known for its spacious and comfortable living space, and especially distinguished for its sailing capacity and able crew, Levent Kaptan I has done very well in the sailing races in its class, including a distinguishing mark as the first finishing yacht in International Wooden Yacht Regatta for a couple of years in a row. This two-masted sailing boat is fully equipped to take advantage of favorable winds but also powered by a 460hp diesel engine that ensures that we remain on schedule. We motor and/or sail depending on the conditions. Despite its built as a sailing boat, Levent Kaptan I is also an exceptionally comfortable cruising boat with ample space.

Find your own patch of serenity floating in the blue of the Aegean

Turkey is well known for it’s sailing opportunities and Bodrum is for good reason one of the most popular areas to start, finish and generally enjoy during a charter yacht vacation in the region.

This vibrant port city can be found in the southwestern corner of the beautiful Turkish peninsula of the same name and is packed with as many cosmopolitan bars, great restaurants and chic shopping areas as it is historical and cultural sights. Here you can enjoy the many delights of the meandering East Mediterranean summer season, whether you’re mingling in with the hustle and bustle on land or finding your own patch of serenity floating in the blue of the Aegean.

Overlooked by the historical St Peter’s Castle (home of the Museum of Underwater Archaeology), Bodrum’s exceptionally well-equipped harbour has long welcomed the world’s superyachts of all shapes and sizes to its shores. The waterfront is full of chic restaurants which buzz through the summer months with those looking to hop onto land for a few hours and soak up the sophisticated atmosphere. The city itself meanwhile still evokes the traditional beauty of this part of the world with its white washed, blue-trimmed buildings and squares lined with busy cafes, all protected by laws that restrict over development.

There’s plenty to see, eat and do if you’re spending some time ashore, not least of which is a visit to the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus. Dating back to between 353 and 350 BC, this ancient tomb has been declared one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and today stands as one of Turkey’s most famous landmarks. What’s left of the ruins today give a sense of the importance of the site in Bodrum and the intricacy of the sculptures and architecture, combined with extended gardens create a perfect cultural setting.

Between the livelier yachting spots of Bodrum and Marmaris are the strikingly unspoilt peninsulas of Gökova and Bozburun which form the border of the Aegean and Mediterranean seas. Here you can explore the rural beauty of Turkey, from rugged stretches of coastlines to idyllic bays and islets, it’s the perfect place to switch off and enjoy the surroundings. This can also be a great opportunity to extend your charter itinerary into the glamorous Turkish Riviera and the gorgeous Greek islands . 8-Hour Cruise

Board your yacht in Bodrum and cruise to Sedir Island (3-Hour Cruise), a paradise tailor-made for superyachts, where culture, nature and legend coexist - this used to be Cleopatra and Anthony’s getaway . Dive into its crystalline turquoise waters and snorkel amongst the school of colorful fish, or step ashore onto its pearly-white sand beach surrounded by lush vegetation to visit the remains of the city’s antique theatre. Night cruise to Symi (5-Hour Cruise).

3-Hour Cruise

Wake up in Symi Town, a Greek island known for its pristine beaches and a harbour surrounded by colorful neoclassical mansions. Spend the morning soaking up the Med sun and visiting its many sandy beaches and coves accessible only by boat. Drop anchor in Marmaris and step ashore to end your day at Bar Street , home to a number of very commendable open-air clubs and music venues.

Spend the morning lounging in one of Marmaris’ outstanding beaches, or take your jet ski out for a ride in the turquoise blue waters to explore hidden bays or step ashore to explore this Turkish gem. Later, have your chef prepare you a fresh seafood meal you may savour as you take a breathtaking cruise towards Gocek. Tender ashore to this small and quaint town for dinner at The Breeze over the beauty of the Mediterranean.

1-Hour Cruise

Wake up in this resort paradise that represents the heart of the Turkish yachting industry. Spend your morning navigating the bay’s turquoise waters exploring the many secret coves and various dive sites amongst the dolphins and sea turtles. Drop anchor in Fethiye Bay for lunch onboard followed by a swim in its warm and crystal clear waters and later step ashore to visit the Tomb of Amyntas .

Cruise to one of the largest of the Dodecanese islands known for its beach resorts and ancient ruins. Spend the morning in Anthony Quinn Bay with its turquoise waters and secluded beach or anchor along the island’s southern side where you will find the warmest and clearest waters in the Mediterraean. Later, tender ashore to explore the island’s Old Town and to experience Rhodes’ nightlife.

6-Hour Cruise

Cruise to Nisyros (4-Hour Cruise), a volcanic Greek island and one of the Aegean islands still untouched by the tourism growth. Tender ashore to watch the volcano’s boiling holes, visit the monastery of Panagia Spiliani built within a cave, or explore one of the island’s unique black pebble beaches. In the afternoon, cruise over to Kos (2-Hour Cruise), to explore it’s rich landmarks and end your day enjoying Kos Town’s lively nightlife.

On your cruise back to Bodrum, tender ashore to the Black Island Hot Springs in the northern side of x to visit the famous healing mineral springs. Later drop anchor at Meteor Bay to enjoy a chef prepared meal overlooking a beautiful cove. Take the water toys out to enjoy the rest of your afternoon in the turquoise blue waters before disembarking Bodrum to dine at Orfoz .

When the ice is thick enough they will prepare the pond for ice skating. Although this is definitely not the best quality "rink", it's one of our favorites in terms of atmosphere. We love to go here in the morning with some friends and enjoy the beautiful Patriarchy scenery. There is a small coffee stand and we like to combine it with a nice lunch in one of the many nearby restaurants. The access is for free but there is no skate rental here, so bring your own (very cheap at Sportsmaster)!
