If you're thinking of buying a boat from them hope you don't have to deal with Daryl in sales. The only reason we did not purchase from them is because we did not want to work with a broker that was rude, unprofessional and doesn't have time or patience to deal with any minor issues during the purchase process.

Al, we are so sorry to hear about your experience. As the new owners of Pier One Yacht Sales (we started the process in July and are the official new owners as of Dec 2022), it breaks our hearts to hear any client did not receive the superior service Pier One has been known for since 2004. Due to feedback similar to yours, Daryl is no longer a broker with our team as we never want anyone, client or not, to feel the way you described in your review. I would NEVER use these guys to buy a boat, especially Daryl. They do not care about what your looking for and they do not even remember when they talk to you. If you call them on the fact they do not remember talking with you then they get nasty. My thoughts STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!! Too many boat dealers to buy from I emailed the owners they never responded so they do not care how the employees treat a prospective buyer!!!!!!!

Called and made an appointment to see a sailboat. Agreed upon a time and date. Broker, Daryl arrived on time. I asked if he had talked to my Broker. "No, I never heard from your Broker. I talked to you 2 times and you never said anything about a Broker." My Broker indicated that he tried several times, but with not success to contact him. Daryl never asked me if I was working with anyone. His reply should have been "If you want to make an offer, I would be happy to work with your broker, I'm sorry I didn't get the communication." I felt like he was calling me a liar. Daryl never acknowledged my friend that was with me. Went ahead of her on the ladder to board the boat. When I asked about the engine, his reply "It's in the specs". Toured the boat with no conversation except when I asked a question. When I asked about another listing, and about scheduling, his response "Your broker needs to get off his butt, and show it himself." Very poor interpersonal skills. Rude and condescending. I felt sorry for both of the owners he is representing... I would never do business with this Brokerage, even if I loved the boat. Met up with 2 friends from Ontario that were visiting in Punta Gorda. They stopped by to inquire about a sailboat, about 2 weeks before my encounter with Daryl. They went into the office at Fisherman's Village and relayed that they received the same indifferent, "what do you want?" attitude, and thought the customer service was very poor, and unfriendly.

Ugh Janet this is so terrible. We are so sorry to read about this experience and the lack of respect you received during your boat showing. Daryl is no longer a broker for Pier One Yacht Sales as we took over ownership officially in December 2022 and take superior service and client experience very seriously. On behalf of our new owner, we want to apologize for the lack of professionalism and kindness from this broker you experienced back in 2019. So here I am, a potential buyer for a sailboat with CASH. This Yacht Brokerage had 3 vessels which peaked an interest. The first one I wanted to look the broker advised he was not available to show it as he was "busy out on a sea trial". The second vessel I wanted to see I was advised by the broker that he could not show it to me because he was busy "out on a sea trial". The third boat I did receive an email from the broker that the boat could be seen at a local marina but only on the outside because he was out of town. The broker gave me the dock and slip number so we drove 1 hr to see this boat. The vessel was NOT at the dock, nor was it at any of the other 10 docks in the marina. All I can say at this point is unless your boat is valued in the 6 figure range, do NOT list it with this company. They just cannot figure out how to be representative agents for their lower priced clients(owners). Three strikes, done with Pier One. I'll find a boat somewhere else.

Craig Massey brings with him over 12 years of experience in the marine industry.  He offers his customers a vast knowledge of sales for both new and used vessels but also the maintenance and mechanical side of boating as well.  Craig owned the Punta Gorda Marina for 9 years and is current owner of PG Marine Sales and Service. This knowledge allows him the expertise of knowing and understanding the issues and concerns various vessels and engines are known to have.  Most sales people will talk you into buying a boat, he will talk you out of the wrong vessel and into the one that will work best for you both financially, from the start, and cost effectively down the line as well.

In March 2022 my wife and I took a road trip from Atlanta to the Tampa/St. Pete area in search of a 40-44' 1980's trawler in the $80-$100k range.  The kind of affordable but elusive floating condo that thousands of other retirees are looking for to fulfill long-held dreams of cruising the ICW, wintering in the Bahamas, or doing the Great Loop.

After 20 years of dreaming and scheming, we were quite serious now that we are empty-nesters.   The one impediment from going "all-in" and living aboard was the responsibility for keeping an eye on an aging parent which means limiting cruising to a max of 4 weeks at a time, 3 or 4 times a year.

We were in the midst of looking at some possibilities with the broker we were working with in St. Pete when we saw an Edwards listing for a 42' Jefferson in Punta Gorda brokered by Craig Massey.  We made an appointment with Craig and drove the hour to meet him in his office.  By the time we arrived that vessel was under contract. Not surprising given the high demand and low supply.  

Nonetheless, Craig asked us a series of questions about what we were looking for and why, and what our plans were for using the vessel. He listened patiently, and after giving it some thought declared that we should not buy the boat of our dreams.  Not something we were expecting to hear from a broker! He made a key point that we only needed such a vessel if we were going to be living on it full-time and shared the lessons learned from his many years' experience around boats and running a boatyard to open our eyes to the realities of what we were getting ourselves into. 

So what were we to do with our dashed dreams? When we can eventually spend more than a month at a time aboard or want to expand our cruising grounds we will have to buy our own trawler through Craig.  In the meantime, we have Craig to thank for getting us on the water in the best way possible for our situation.

My wife and I began looking for a new Sportfish after relocating to the West Coast of Florida in April of 2021.  After having researched dozens of Sportfish models on the Internet and travelling all around the State, wasting countless hours looking at numerous yachts, all we could say to each other when using the internet was “caveat emptor” and “there has to be a better way”. Then we found Craig and Shelly Massey. We explained what we had been through travelling all around Florida in search of our dream boat, only to find boats riddled with blisters or literally just trashed. None of the boats we looked at had pictures on the Internet showing what the Vessel really looked like, just really nice pictures.  Craig sat down with us to determine our boating experience, vessel history and price point, he then went to work finding our new Sportfish. Within only a couple of days he began emailing us vessels to look at that he had personally prequalified as worth looking at or not. What Craig does is find you the vessel by asking all the right questions to the Captain or the owner and if the boat meets his initial tests, he will then go and look for himself to determine if it is worth pursuing.  Craig is personable, professional and passionate about what he does and it shows. Within two weeks we settled on a Cabo and again Craig went to work for us, negotiating with the sellers broker to get us the fair market value of the vessel. Once we came to the “right number”, Shelli takes over making the financial documentation and paperwork seamlessly flow using Docusign.  The entire experience with the Massey Team, from start to finish, was efficient and stress free. It really helps to work with professionals that are working for you, we highly recommend the Massey Team.

Just a quick note to thank both of you for making the sale of my boat a pleasant one. I very much appreciated your expertise and ability to keep things on a steady track during the process. It has been a pleasure doing business with you.

Powerboat Guide Description

The sleek styling and upscale interior of the Meridian combined to make this versatile sedan yacht one of the company’s best-selling models following her introduction in . Built on a solid fiberglass hull with shallow deadrise and moderate beam, the ’s striking profile is accented by tiered cabin windows and an aggressive hardtop design. Below deck, her roomy two-stateroom, two-head interior features an opulent salon with sofa (with pullout bed), deluxe entertainment center, ice maker, and high-gloss cherry cabinets. The galley and dinette are forward, a step up from the salon. Note the sculptured salon overhead and natural hardwood flooring in the galley area. A lower helm is optional in place of the dinette. There are two large staterooms below, each with ensuite heads. The engine room is accessed from a hatch in the cockpit sole, and molded steps lead from the cockpit up to the ’s enormous flybridge with wraparound lounge seating aft. Vessel Walkthrough

In designing the Sedan, Meridian's team of naval architects developed a new hull, deck, bridge and shearline. This design features a more aggressive profile and hull-side windows for the guest stateroom, easier bridge access, better topside accommodations, and more natural light and woodwork in its interior living spaces. The 's wide-open floor plan ensures smooth flow and unbroken lines of sight between the salon, the yacht's dedicated dinette and the full-service galley. What's more, Meridian has further enhanced its signature integrated two-tier window system to ensure improved visibility from all these interior areas. Plus, the 's impressive two stateroom, two-head layout provides a gracious master suite, located forward with a queen-size island berth with innerspring pillow-top mattress. The spacious amidship guest stateroom, which spans the yacht's beam, features a double berth, thoughtfully appointed vanity, and settee and plenty of storage.
