Yes. We use a system called Cognito to ensure that payment information matches the renter's identity. We also require renters taking out a captained boat to be at least 18 years old and on a bareboat to be at least 25 years old.

Is listing my boat on Boatsetter free?

Yes! Listing a boat is completely free. We only take a commission when your boat is rented. We only make money when you do!

What if I'm not comfortable having a renter drive my boat?

If you are not comfortable having a renter drive your boat, we have an expansive network of licensed and experienced captains. Once your boat is listed, you can filter through our network of captains and favorite captains in your area that you would like to operate your boat.

The Spirit of Buffalo is available for private charters, birthday parties, bachelor/bachelorette parties, wedding ceremonies, wedding receptions, company outings, retirement celebrations, day sails, sunset cruises, Wednesday Wine in the Wind, private parties, pirate trips, corporate functions, committee gatherings, family reunions, church groups, and tour groups.

A $100 deposit is required to reserve the date and time.   All deposits are credited towards payment of your booked event.

100% of the balance is due within 30 days of your event date. Cash, major credit cards, and checks are excepted. If you are paying your balance less than two weeks before your event date, checks are not accepted.

Charter prices per hour (two-hour minimum required) – Start at $1,260.

Charters include the boat and all the crew (captain, deckhands). Rates are based on two hours. Additional time can be arranged. Food and bar packages are not included in the price of the charter. Call for menus. Please contact us to customize a package for you.

We have access to so many different lakes, rivers, canals, and beaches, all within a 10 to 30-minute drive. You may not know about all of the different boats and watercraft you can rent to explore our waterways, so here are 13 fun boats, water bikes, pontoons, and other watercraft you can rent this summer in Buffalo.

1. BFLO Harbor & Kayak: Located at Canalside (44 Prime Street in Buffalo), it offers paddle boat, paddle board and kayak rentals. The 2022 season begins Memorial Day weekend. It's open from 9 am to 8 pm, Monday through Sunday. Call 716-288-5309 or visit its website .

12. Falls Fireworks Cruise: Runs every Saturday until June 11th. Weekend Falls Fireworks Cruises will run June 18th to 20th and June 25th to 27th. Then it will run daily from June 30th until Labor Day. The 40-minute tour departs from the Niagara City Cruises dock (5920 Niagara Parkway, Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada L2E 6X8) at 9:30 pm. Hoyt Lake Boat Rentals

The Olmsted Parks Conservancy maintains rowboats at Hoyt Lake in Delaware Park. The boats, built for the Conservancy by students in the Hand to Hand Program at the Buffalo Maritime Center, are available for rental Monday through Friday, 5:00 p.m. to an hour before sunset, and weekends and holidays, 1:00 p.m. to an hour before sunset.

What is a boat club.

Carefree Boat Club is a private club. This means that our boats are only available to Members. We do not rent or charter our boats. Our members are the only ones with unlimited access to the fleet and they  never pay a fee to use the boats .

Is It Truly "Unlimited?"

Yes! Members have true unlimited access to boats.  Boat as much as you like .    

Is It Worth The Price?

It really is. With membership as little as 1/3 cost of owning a boat, you can cross numerous expenses off your list such as: boat purchase, slip fee, insurance, maintenance, repairs, taxes, towing and winterization.

How Does The Training Work?

All members get as much training as they need on and off the water. "On The Water" training is done with a certified instructor. Training covers CBC processes, general navigation, docking and safety.

How Soon Can I Get On The Water?

After joining, new members (without boating experience) can normally be boating within days of joining. If you have previous boat training, you can be on the water even sooner.

Are The Boats Well-Maintained?

Absolutely, in fact, all boats are inspected weekly by the CBC dock staff using a 50 point checklist of safety equipment, hull condition, electronics, and general mechanical items.

How the Key Bridge Collapsed in Baltimore: Maps and Photos

On Tuesday, a major bridge in Baltimore collapsed into the water seconds after it was struck by a cargo ship, sending vehicles on the bridge into the river below. The ship lost power and issued a mayday call shortly before it hit the bridge.

The ship, a 948-foot-long cargo vessel called Dali, was about a half hour into its journey toward Colombo, Sri Lanka, when it hit a main pillar of the bridge. All crew members are safe, according to the ship’s owners.

A mayday call from the ship gave officials enough time to stop traffic at both ends of the bridge. The waters where the bridge collapsed are about 50 feet deep. By Tuesday morning, six construction workers who had been fixing potholes on the bridge remained missing as divers and other emergency workers on boats and helicopters continued to search for them. Two others had been rescued, and one was in the hospital.

The Francis Scott Key Bridge was opened in 1977 and carried more than 12.4 million vehicles last year. The bridge was one of the three major ways to cross the Patapsco River and formed part of Baltimore’s beltway.

The Port of Baltimore is a major trade hub that handled a record amount of foreign cargo last year. It is an especially important destination — the nation’s largest by volume last year — for deliveries of cars and light trucks.

Overall, Baltimore was the 17th biggest port in the United States in 2021, ranked by total tons, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics. The bridge collapse brought marine traffic there to a standstill, with seven cargo or tanker ships stranded in the harbor as of Tuesday afternoon.

Gov. Wes Moore declared a state of emergency for Maryland and said that his office was in close communication with Pete Buttigieg, the U.S. transportation secretary. The White House issued a statement saying that President Biden had been briefed on the collapse.
