• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is confirmed more than 7 days in advance, a deposit of either $1,000 USD or 50% of the total cost of the reservation (whichever is greater) is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 7 days away, the remainder of the amount due is processed.
• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is made 7 days or less in advance, the total price of your reservation is processed immediately.
• If you are booking for a multi-day charter and your reservation is confirmed more than 30 days in advance, a deposit of 50% of the cost of the yacht is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 30 days away, the other 50% is collected for the price of the yacht, plus the APA, plus the taxes due.

Terms of refunds are dictated by the Charter Agreement. Generally, once a payment is collected, it is non-refundable. In certain circumstances, as dictated by the Charter Agreement, credits can be provided so you will be able to enjoy your yacht charter at a future date that is convenient for you.

What happens in case of bad weather?

For captained charters, weather cancellations and reschedulings are entirely at the discretion of the Captain or Boat Owner. The Renter can not invoke 'bad weather' and request a refund as reason for cancellation unless the Captain or the Boat Owner agrees to it. For captained charter, the Captain will make the decision if the weather conditions are dangerous to get out on the water. Cloudy skies or a slight chance of rain are not grounds for cancellation or rescheduling. If a cancellation or rescheduling due to bad weather is necessary, either the Renter or the Boat Owner must send an email to  [email protected]  stating the reason. If the Renter sends such a request, the email must include a written confirmation from the Boat Owner. Read more details  here .

The cost of your Miami yacht charter will very on the size of the boat, length of the trip, and other factors. If you are looking for a cheap yacht rental in Miami, our cheapest boat rental in Miami is our 29ft Sea Ray which costs $1,500 for 4 hours.

Most of our yachts depart from Miami Beach Marina in South Beach. We have other yachts that depart from different marinas in south beach. We also have some options that leave from downtown Miami.

Yes, you must bring the card that you used to pay for the yacht rental and you must bring a photo ID that matches the credit card used to book the yacht rental. The photo ID must also clearly match the individual presenting the ID and credit card.

Miami Blue Yacht Rental does not allow for cancellations under any circumstances within 30 days of the departure of your trip. Cancellations made between 90 days and 30 days of your trip’s departure are subject to a 50% refund of the total cost of your charter. Cancellations made prior to 90 days of your trip departure will receive a full refund.

The cancellation policy above applies only to day trips. Any overnight charters will follow a separate cancellation policy that will be outlined in the charter contract between Miami Blue Yacht Rental and the client.

Miami Blue Yacht Rental will cancel charters if there is inclement weather preventing us from conducting the trip. In the event of inclement weather, we will issue a credit that is valid for 3 years after the initial charter departure date. That credit can be used towards a future charter with Miami Blue Yacht Rental.

Miami Blue Yacht Rental reserves the right to determine whether or not the weather permits us from conducting the charter.

For almost all of our Miami yachts we can only take a maximum of 12 guests due to United States Coast Guard regulations. Even if the boat you rented is over 100ft, it can only take a maximum of 12 passengers. The only Miami charter yachts that can take more than 12 passengers are event or party yachts with special certifications.

To rent a yacht with Miami Blue, the individual making payment and signing the charter contract must be at least 18 years of age. Customers are required to submit full payment up front to reserve a yacht or boat. If the departure date is more than 90 days away, customers are allowed to rent a boat or yacht with a 50% deposit. The remaining balance will be charged 90 days before the trip departs.

On the day of the charter, the individual who made the payment and signed the contract is required to be on board the vessel. That individual must arrive at the vessel with the credit card they used to book the boat or yacht, and they must arrive with a photo ID that matches the name on the credit card used to book the charter.

Yes, you can bring whatever food, drinks, or alcohol you’d like. We just ask that you don’t bring red wine because it stains the boats. You can also arrange to have your charter catered. We will connect you with one of our preferred partners who will handle all of the catering. In most cases, you can have the catering delivered to the yacht prior to your trip. That way everything is setup and ready to go when you arrive.

Yes. You are free to switch to a different yacht or boat if you give us at least 48 hours’ notice and the alternative yacht or boat is available on the date requested. If there is an additional cost of the new yacht, you would simply need to pay the additional balance for the upgraded vessel.

Yes, you can have your yacht rental catered. We can connect you with local caterers who can deliver food to the boat prior to the charter. You are also free to arrange food with your own caterer and bring it with you on the charter.

Smoking rules vary depending on which Miami yacht you book. Most of our yachts allow for vaping and electronic cigarettes on any part of the yacht that is not enclosed. Some of our yachts allow for smoking but only in specific areas on the yacht. Usually somewhere off the back of the yacht so that the smoke and ash does not get on the yacht.

What’s included on your Miami yacht tour will depend on which yacht you book. Each of our yacht your listings state the water toys and floats that are included. • Balloons are not allowed on board on of our yacht or boat rentals. Balloons can cause issues and make it difficult for the crew to navigate. Additionally, if the balloons pop and fall into the water they are terrible for the environment. • Self-tanning oils and bronzers are not allowed onboard. The cause stains on the yacht’s upholstery that are very difficult to remove. • Please avoid wearing denim or jean clothing as the dyes from these clothes can stain the upholstery when they get wet. • Please do not wear any temporary hair dye or wigs. The ink seeps out due to the moisture and the humidity and can cause bad stains. • Please avoid bringing wed wine or other similar drinks. If they spill they can cause stains that are extremely difficult to clean and remove. • No Hookah, shisha, or other items that have an open flame such as BBQ equipment, gas, propane, coals, etc. • We do not allow glitter or confetti on our yacht charters. • No pets are allowed on board our yachts. • Any damage that is caused to the yacht upholstery, flooring, or other surfaces caused by beverages, smoking, or dye from wet clothing will incur additional charges for the repair and damages to be fixed.

Man arrested in beating death of transgender woman outside Miami City Ballet

Miami Beach Police have arrested a man in the beating death of a transgender woman whose body was discovered near the Miami City Ballet Tuesday morning.

Gregory Fitzgerald Gibert, 53, has been charged with one count of second-degree murder in the killing of 37-year-old Andrea Dorias Dos Passos, police said Wednesday.

Dos Passos' body was discovered in the area of 22nd Street and Liberty Avenue, near the Miami City Ballet, after an employee "observed what he believed to be a person sleeping outside... near the main entrance," Gibert's arrest report said.

Once police and fire rescue arrived on the scene they pronounced the victim deceased.

Trauma and blood were observed on the victim's face and head, according to the report.

Detectives obtained video surveillance that showed the victim arriving at the scene around midnight.

According to the police report, some hours later, a man approached the victim as she was sleeping. In the video, he can be seen grabbing some type of metal pipe from the ground and hitting the victim in the head and face several times.

"The male is then seen standing over her, striking her and then manipulating her body... then walks away and places the pipe inside a nearby trashcan," read the report.

Police were able to locate the suspect, identified as Gibert, and take him into custody.

When Gibert was taken into custody, he was wearing clothing seen in the surveillance footage that had what appeared to be bloodstains, the report said.

Records showed Gibert had just been released from prison on April 17 after having spent more than a year in Miami-Dade custody, including for mental evaluations. He was given four years felony probation after being charged with attempted armed robbery with a weapon and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, records showed.

Police said Gibert refused to cooperate with investigators so a motive for the killing was unknown.

"No evidence alludes to the fact that this was a hate crime. The evidence does not allude to the fact that the defendant targeted the victim based off her sexual orientation and or her gender," Miami Beach Police spokesman Christopher Bess said. "What we do know is that the offender was a very violent individual and should not have been on our streets.”

Gibert also refused to show up in bond court Wednesday and remains behind bars.

Dos Passos' stepfather said he was devastated by her loss.

"I do not know if Andrea had an interaction before with this suspect and it was a revenge case, or this was a total random act. I do know that she had no chance, she was sleeping,” Victor Van Gilst said. "I think that the system let her down. At this moment I also have the feeling that I let her down."

Miami Beach Police Chief Wayne Jones released a statement Wednesday on the case.

"This senseless loss of life deeply saddens our entire community, and my thoughts are with Andrea's loved ones during this difficult time," the statement read, in part. "At this time, there is no evidence to suggest that Andrea was targeted because of her sexuality or gender. However, we understand the concerns within the LGBTQIA+ community, and I want to emphasize that MBPD is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all our community members."

The Miami City Ballet & Museum closed for the rest of the day Tuesday due to the incident.

"I used to go to ballet classes right here when I was a child. I just feel like it’s getting increasingly more scary to be a woman," resident Daniela Tabbara said.

"This remains an open investigation and as the judicial process unfolds, we are committed to collaborating closely with the State Attorney's Office," police said in a statement Wednesday.

PortMiami is less than 10 miles from Miami International Airport and cars are easily rented there if you arrive in Florida with time to spare. And you really should plan on that because Miami is a cultural playground that will set the tone for whatever cruise itinerary awaits. Even if you don’t have access to a car, taxis and ride share options are easily had. Also, the Miami city trolley’s Coral Way route stops in three places at MiamiPort. The trolley is free.

PortMiami is on Dodge Island, which is adjacent to the state’s most exclusive residential islands, including Fisher and Star islands. Reported to own homes on Fisher Island are Oprah Winfrey, Julia Roberts and tennis great Boris Becker along with Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner. Nearby Star Island also has its share of celebs including Gloria Estefan, Shaquille O’Neal and Enrique Inglesias. Starstruck travelers won’t be able to get on the islands, but there are boating excursions that cruise past the stars’ backyards. Don’t care about stars? Check out the opulent architecture.

When it comes to dining, Miami serves the world on a platter. From Cuban and Latin American specialties to award-winning Japanese sushi and omakase experiences to local flavors that celebrate the sea, the city hums with good taste. Miami has one two-star Michelin restaurant and 11 restaurants that have been awarded one star, plus plenty more that get other recognitions. The Michelin Guide has just come to Florida and shined its light on Miami. If you want the two-star experience, check out L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon Miami . Bring your wallet. Dinner is easily $200 a person, before drinks.

But there are other places to eat just a few miles from PortMiami, some with legendary status like Joe’s Stone Crab on Miami Beach and Versailles Cuban restaurant in the city’s Little Havana neighborhood. There’s not a major campaigning politician, presidential hopefuls included, who doesn’t stop into Versailles to court Miami’s powerful Latin vote. Want something low-key but supremely interesting? Head to the Wynwood arts district for a tasty something-something from James Beard honored Artisan Jewish baker, Zak Stern. His Zak the Baker bakery draws foodies from all over and reservations are a wise move.

There’s plenty more things to do before or after your cruise out of PortMiami. Here are five ways to add value to your cruise vacation in the vibrant city of Miami.

Explore Miami Beach

The beachside town is known for neon-lit nightclubs and trendy fashion, but it is also home to a string of Art Deco architectural jewels plus other landmark buildings classified as Mediterranean Revival or Miami Modern. The Miami Design Preservation League has self-guided (with app-based audio) and narrated walking tours, which take about two hours. Feel like taking in the sites on wheels? The free Miami Beach Trolley takes riders up and down the barrier island on the ocean-side road which lets you see the old Art Deco hotels that have been transformed into boutique accommodations with nightclubs, past the legendary Fontainebleau Hotel and even by the mansion where designer Gianni Versace was gunned down. The trolley is mostly transportation and is not narrated. Still, it’s free and you can hop off and get back on along the way. Another way to explore the area is the seven-mile Miami Beach Boardwalk which runs between the beach and the back of the buildings on the east side of Collins Avenue for about 40 blocks. The boardwalk is open to runners, walkers and skaters; some stretches are okay for bicyclists.

Read the Walls

The Wynwood Walls Arts District is an example of urban evolution. Empty warehouses north of downtown Miami have been transformed into an open-air art museum thanks to 35 murals and creative artists. The walls explode with colorful art, some of it making social commentary. The Cost is $12 (less for military personnel, seniors and kids) to wander around on your own. Guided tours are $20. The art district has spawned retail shops and places to eat and drink. After you’ve satisfied your taste for mural art, stop at J. Wakefield Brewery for a cold brew with a wicked fun name like Hops 4 Teacher American IPA or an Amber Waves red ale. Dasher & Crank has tropical ice cream for the kids. Two scoops of mojito for the adults, please. If it happens to be raining when you want to visit, consider ducking into the Museum of Graffiti just a couple blocks away from the murals.

Take an Historic Dip

The Venetian Pool might just be the most unusual place you ever swim and at least the most historic. Tucked into a neighborhood in Coral Gables, just south of PortMiami, it’s near the University of Miami and the tony Miracle Mile shopping and dining district. The pool was built in 1923 from a coral rock quarry and is fed by spring water from an underground aquifer. It looks like something out of a vintage movie with its Mediterranean Revival structures and a waterfall reminiscent of a South Pacific scene. But it’s thoroughly modern in many ways, hosting kids birthday parties and staffed with lifeguards. It’s on the National Register of Historic Places. Entry is $6.95 to $22 depending on age and season. The pool is closed December and January, and every Monday.

Bike on Key Biscayne

A few miles from MiamiPort is the barrier island of Key Biscayne, which for years has been the winter home of politicians, celebrities and anyone who wants to escape from the cold weather up North. Key Biscayne is lush with tropical foliage and boasts one of the nicest beaches in South Florida, the municipal Crandon Park beach lined with 13 lifeguard stands. It’s here that you can rent a bicycle or a four-wheel surrey for four to pedal the length of the four-mile island. Before you take off, hang out at Crandon beach for a while, maybe even rent a cabana . Crandon takes up about half of the key and a residential/hotel area separates it from Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park (party entry is $8). At the tip of the island is the Cape Florida Lighthouse , built in 1825. This is a great place to take photos, including selfies. The intrepid can climb the 109-step spiral staircase to the top, and there are benches below where non- climbers can wait. Check before you go to make sure restoration work is finished. There are places to stop for food and drink along the residential portion of Key Biscayne. Another place to explore is Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center , also called the Biscayne Nature Center. Around the center are four marked trails that can be hiked in 25 to 60 minutes.

Get a Little Culture

The Pérez Art Museum Miami is one of the city’s newest museums and it features contemporary art of the 20th and 21th century. It’s a quick free trolley ride (Coral Way route) from MiamiPort and you’ll be transported to a building as interesting outside as it is inside. The museum sits on Biscayne Bay and its iconic hanging gardens —seven columns of plants—create a living sculpture. The design of the building pays homage to “Stiltsville,” the stilted fish houses built in the ’20s and ’30s near Cape Florida now under the auspices of the National Park Service. Inside the museum, are lots of works by Latin American artists among the permanent collections plus special exhibitions. Entry to the museum is $18 for adults and free for teachers, active and retired military, and first responders. Within walking distance is the Frost Science Museum, Aquarium and Planetarium with occasional events and activities for kids.

Local news | broward’s outreach: the many efforts to help the homeless at the airport and beyond.

Broward County outreach teams are beefing up patrols at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport to help deter the homeless from sleeping in public spaces.

An airport spokeswoman called the airport a “major economic engine and critical infrastructure.”

“It’s not a shelter. It’s a transportation hub. So what can we do to help those individuals seeking shelter?” asked Celina Saucedo, the assistant director of Aviation/Administration at Broward County Aviation Department.

The latest efforts were listed at Broward’s Homeless Continuum of Care Board on Wednesday, an advisory panel dedicated to making recommendations to the County Commission to help unhoused people, including getting them into programs and shelters. The current efforts include dispatching outreach teams to the airport, as well as to a downtown bus terminal, opening a “desperately needed” set of buildings to offer housing in Pompano Beach, and enlisting the help of hospitals and landlords.

Here’s a look at those efforts:

At the airport

The new outreach teams, known as the Airport Community Team (ACT), are increasing their efforts during off-hours when the homeless presence increases, especially near the baggage area at Terminal 1. Teams that include county staff and sheriff’s deputies roam the airport from 2 a.m. to 5 p.m., and now they’ll also start going late at night.

Broward County Mayor Nan Rich, who chairs the committee, said it’s an example of “meeting the homeless where they are, that’s why we’re going to the airport.”

The “concerns” are after the last flights have come, said Rebecca McGuire, Broward County Housing Strategy and Innovation Officer.

That’s when more homeless flock to the airport to settle in. She said the county has recorded 573 people at the airport since March 1, 2022, through today, including people who became homeless by happenstance, arriving on a plane “thinking they would have a better life” and winding up stranded when nobody came to pick them up.

138 units to help in Pompano

Plans for two buildings, at eight-stories each, are expected to be submitted to the county this winter to be constructed in Pompano Beach, next to an existing shelter.

The estimated 138 units will be dedicated to affordable housing and housing for homeless making the transition.

“It’s so desperately needed,” Rich said.

A bus terminal

The county would be making more sweeps, including at its downtown Fort Lauderdale bus terminal off Broward Boulevard, with outreach teams to find homeless , and try to convince them to enter shelters, and provide them with information to get medical care, bus passes, showers, and substance abuse services.

“You can’t do one and done,” McGuire said about going back to the Fort Lauderdale station, where outreach teams had targeted earlier this year.

There will be a focus on the homeless population next in Lauderhill bus terminal, she said.

Helping patients

Broward Health would be beefing up services to arrange help for the homeless being discharged from its hospitals, especially seniors where the average age is 60. Rich called it “wrap-around services,” and said it would be “expanded and improved … so we’re looking for bigger and better things.”

Examples of clients who could be discharged and wind up back on the street are undocumented people, and wheelchair users with no place to go and family unwilling or unable to help. The patients who accept the help are sent to multiple agencies and services for placement including HomesUnited and area nursing homes.

Working with landlords

Project Home Again is the county’s program where now 300 landlords provide about 2,000 units for rent and the county helps pick up the tab, among other funding sources, McGuire said.

“We’re getting them started,” Rich said. “We’re not paying forever. We pay first and last” month rent and the security deposit. She said the county expects more landlords to join the program. Eight of the landlords pledged to make clients referred by the county a priority, McGuire said.
