Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show 2024: Tickets Now On Sale

Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show 2024: Tickets Now On Sale

Australia’s largest marine lifestyle event, the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS), being staged from May 23 to 26, 2024, is close to full capacity and attracting many of the biggest and best marine brands.

Mulpha Events General Manager Johan Hasser says: “With 85% of exhibition space already booked, we are thrilled to play host to the industry’s finest. We encourage businesses who still want to secure space to submit their applications now as we expect to finalise allocations in the coming weeks. SCIBS is where the marine business does business, and our exhibitors have a great track record in securing strong sales at the event. We’re extremely proud of our reputation as one of the leading showcases in the region for those in the marine sector.”

Welcoming the industry’s newest products

With the show synonymous with attracting the biggest names in boating from around the globe, Mr Hasser says attendees should expect to see world-leading ocean craft make their debut. “We’re thrilled that many of the world’s foremost marine manufacturers are choosing SCIBS to launch their new products, with the announcement of many brands and models never before seen in Australia.”

The latest in luxury motor yachts

Among the boats making their debut will be the stunning FD80 from leading yacht brand Horizon Yachts. Horizon Yachts Australia, Director Mark Western says it is sure to attract the attention of those who imagine sailing the ocean in a vessel that balances style and space with superyacht amenities.

“SCIBS has always been our most successful Australian show,” says Mr Western. “With our Australian headquarters based at Sanctuary Cove Marina, we are able to showcase a large range of Horizon models at SCIBS which is a huge advantage.

“We’ve sold more boats in southeast Queensland than in any other state and we sell more at SCIBS than at any other show. We very much expect that someone local will purchase this amazing yacht, priced at $14.5 million, because the market for us is here.”

Mr Western added that Horizon Yacht Australia also hopes to showcase a brand new FD90 with a full beam flybridge with great entertaining space and a microbridge offering the best of both worlds.

Largest ever showcase

Short Marine, one of Australia’s leading boat dealerships representing some of the world’s premium boat brands, will bring their greatest ever line-up in both quality and quantity to the marina at SCIBS, say Sam and Ryan Short, Founders and Directors of Short Marine.

“We’re excited to be introducing Chris Craft luxury day boats to the Queensland market. They will definitely be a stand-out and crowd favourite. Also debuting will be the show- stopping Viking 54 Convertible, along with our largest ever showcase of Grady-White boats and a variety of new Regal boats.

“We’re also extremely excited about our third year at Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show which just keeps getting bigger and better.”

Style, seaworthiness and record sales

Top dealership, Wynnum Marine has also chosen SCIBS 2024 to debut two new boat brands to the Australian market, the Kingfisher Powercat and the stylish Yamarin boats.

“SCIBS is the perfect setting and show to be able to launch these boats,” says Johnny Milton, Principal of Wynnum Marine Brisbane. “You get so many people through the door and such a large range of customers. Last year we showcased the smaller Kingfisher boats and we’re really happy with the follow up in sales enquiries.”

SCIBS attendees can expect to see the 6m+ Kingfisher Powercats, that offer fantastic fishability, including a flagship hard top being built ready for SCIBS 2024, says Mr Milton. “These boats have unbelievable seaworthiness with superior stability, a wide beam and flat casting decks that means you can fish from all corners.”

Also on display will be the Yamarin 63 Daycruiser that combines first-class handling with carefree recreation and a modern appearance, and the durable and stylish Cross 62BR whose versatile features and excellent layout create a new kind of luxury and ease for family boating.

“This high-quality brand brings unique European design and luxury style combined with the enviable reliability reputation of Yamaha Outboard Motors to Australian customers for the first time,” says Mr Milton.

A boating environment like no other

Jack Ludemann, Marketing Manager of Sports Marine crowned Nimbus Boat Dealer of the Year for 2023, says SCIBS 2024 is the perfect platform to launch the Nimbus Weekender W11. This next-level boat includes a spacious aft lounge area, multiple sunbeds, outdoor dining, plenty of storage for gear and toys and a generous deck.

"SCIBS is our favourite show and year on year consistently proves fruitful for Sports Marine and our continued growth of the Nimbus Boats brand in Australia,” he says.

“The relaxed atmosphere, perfect weather and wide range of boats on display creates an environment like no other.”

Tickets on sale now

Early bird general admission tickets and the all-new Lagoon Beach Club VIP Experience tickets are on sale now. Tickets can only be purchased online – there will not be a Box Office at the Show. SANCTUARY COVE INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW

SANCTUARY COVE INTERNATIONAL BOAT SHOW

ALL ABOARD FOR A BOATING BLOCKBUSTER

SHOWSTOPPING LINEUP OF NEW LAUNCHES, MAJOR EXHIBITORS AND LIFESTYLE EXPERIENCES

brisbane yacht show

Attracting more than 51,000 attendees and 300-plus exhibitors and displaying over 600 boats and 1,000 marine products in the stunning waterfront location of Sanctuary Cove on the Gold Coast, SCIBS is the must-attend event for boating lifestyle aficionados and industry movers and shakers.

The 33rd annual SCIBS welcomes a blockbuster lineup of industry-leading brands, exhibiting everything from the latest marine gadgets and must-have technology to a massive display of trailer boats, powerboats and prestigious superyachts.

Across four days from 19 to 22 May, this year’s action-packed event promises boatloads of immersive activities with live entertainment stages, fishing demonstrations, street performers and a fun-filled kids’ zone.

Returning for SCIBS 2022 is The Lagoon Lounge, an ‘upper-deck’ luxury destination and VIP experience where event attendees can live the aspirational superyacht lifestyle with a smorgasbord of delicious cuisine and premium beverages catered by the 5-star InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort.

Presented by Mulpha Events, General Manager Johan Hasser says SCIBS will surprise and delight eventgoers with showstopping moments from luxury experiences to the Show’s largest on-water display of marine vessels.

“SCIBS 2022 is our biggest show on water with major exhibitors displaying everything from best-in-class superyachts through to trailer boats and stand-up paddleboards plus the latest marine gear and gadgets,” Johan says.

SCIBS 2022 has attracted a record number of prominent exhibitors with 25,000sqm showcase space for trailer boats to meet increased consumer demand, more premium inclusions and additional covered display space on water.

Among the premium brands taking prime position on the water are Riviera, Princess Yachts, Palm Beach, Maritimo, Horizon, Leopard Catamarans, Alexander Marine, Integrity, Whitehaven, Eyachts, Fleming, Beneteau, Axopar, Lagoon and Iliad.

Trailerable boats, watersports and inflatable craft also have a prominent presence with the likes of Quintrex, Yamaha, Jeanneau, Northside Marine, JSW Powersports, Sea-Doo, Nautique, Stejcraft, BRIG, Sailfish Catamarans, Voyager Catamarans, Mercury, Zodiac, Honda and Mastercraft on board.

The latest marine gear and gadgets are also on display with Garmin, Fusion, Navionics, Raymarine, Dometic, Lowrance, VETUS-Maxwell, International Paint, Awlgrip, Dockmate and BLA highlighting their high-tech innovations in The Pavilions.

SCIBS 2022 marks a momentous milestone with major partner Bentley Brisbane & Gold Coast celebrating a decade-long association with four custom cars commissioned for the occasion.

After the phenomenal success of the 2021 event, SCIBS is buoyed by the huge number of brands lining up to showcase their vessels and products at the 2022 Show.

“We have seen the increased popularity of boating as a fun and safe lifestyle activity with wide appeal and the subsequent upward trend in boat ownership in Australia,” Johan says.

Australian Marine Centre (AMC) Boats Dealer Principal Rod Elliott affirms this trend, saying the marine and leisure boat specialist has seen a huge surge in demand with production for many brands sold out for 2022 and into 2023.

“We will have the best brands on display at SCIBS 2022, including the Australian release of the Invincible 33ft catamaran as well as a range of Bar Crusher, Haines Signature, Aquamaster, Contender, Tidewater and Ranieri boats,” Rod says.

JSW Powersports will also showcase industry-leading brands such as Sea-Doo Watercraft, Can-Am Off-Road and On-Road ranges, Sea Fox Boats, Malibu Boats and Axis Boats and its latest brand addition, SEA-BOB-Jets.

In the luxury category, Leopard Catamarans has achieved record sales of all models in 2022 with solid advance sales confirmed for 2023.

“We will premiere the L53 Power Catamaran, which is new to Australia and our most powerful next-generation yacht, as well as displaying the new L42 and L45 Sailing Catamarans at SCIBS 2022,” Leopard Catamarans Australasia Sales Manager Peter Devers says.

Riviera Owner Rodney Longhurst says the luxury brand will bring its largest Australian showcase of 12 distinctive motor yachts to Sanctuary Cove, including the boat show debut of the exceptional Riviera 78 Motor Yacht and two new models that are yet to be officially announced.

Transforming the stylish Sanctuary Cove Marina and Village into the greatest show afloat, Johan says SCIBS 2022 is an unmissable event.

“We are excited to welcome new and returning exhibitors and visitors to enjoy the very best the marine lifestyle industry has to offer in the stunning surrounds of Sanctuary Cove.”

2024 boating calendar

Updated: all the important boating-related dates of 2024.

Keen to amp up the excitement even if you’re not able to hit the water, but not sure how? Use the 2024 boating calendar as your guide to make the most of your year in boating.

January 2024

Festival of Sails January 26–28

Each year Royal Geelong Yacht Club in Victoria hosts the annual Festival of Sails, a regatta featuring everything from passage racing to dragon boats. However, there’s a strong social side to the event featuring live music, on-land activities for adults and children, and possibly even a flyover from the RAAF Roulettes.

Murray Darling 110 TBC

This is a race across two rivers, starting on the Darling River at Wentworth and finishing at the Apex Park in Mildura, the traditional finishing line for the Mildura 100 - billed as the fastest ski race in the world, and one of the longest ski races in Australia.

February 2024

The Spirit of Robe Boat Show February (date TBC)

Held each year on the Robe foreshore, the Spirit of Robe Boat show features new boats as well as cars and caravans. Part community event and part regatta, it includes races at Main Beach featuring locally made Takacat inflatable catamarans, kayaks, paddle boards and sprint swimming.

southern 80

Offshore Superboat Championships round 1 February (date TBC)

Four classes of boats ranging from beefy inboard-engined catamarans to production models you can buy in a showroom compete for the title of being the best offshore racer in Australia. The 2024 calendar is yet to be set.

Southern 80 February 9–11

Moama Water Sports Club’s annual 80km high-speed sprint along the Murray River returns to its regular February slot after widespread flooding affected last year's course, pushing the event out until March. Much of the event is focused on the finish line at the Dungala Bridge, an easy stroll from the beer garden at Echuca’s American Hotel.

Fremantle Boat And Seafood Festival March (date TBC)

Fremantle Esplanade and its harbour come alive with the freshest seafood and everything from the smallest to the largest boat. The three-day event also includes fishing shows, advice, fishing gear, a special trailer boat section, and all the latest in boating accessories.

Brisbane Boat Show Postponed until 2024

Brisbane is home to a number of boat-makers. However, after two years of pandemic, the Brisbane Boat Show is still showing symptoms. Its organisers, the Boating Industry Association, are keen to see the event return this year with an announcement on the show's future due early in 2024.

Rosehill Trailer Boat Show Postponed until 2024

While the Sydney Boat Show has returned, the smaller trailer boat show held each year at the Rosehill Gardens Racecourse is yet to recover in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. An announcement on the show's future is due early in 2024.

Wooden Boat Festival of Geelong March 9–11

Geelong’s foreshore comes alive for Victoria’s largest celebration of hand-crafted wooden boats. One of the more interesting competitions over the event’s three-day stretch is the ‘Row-the-Rip’ St Ayles skiff race that pitches teams of longboat-style rowers against each other in a race from Point Nepean to Portarlington across the face of Port Phillip’s most challenging stretch of water.

Auckland on the Water Boat Show March 14–17

Our cousins across the ditch have a healthy boat-building industry, and each year they get to show their talents off in central Auckland. With up to half of the annual output of some NZ brands ending up in the hands of Australian owners, the premieres at this show tend to have a lot of relevance here.

Sydney Superyacht Festival March (date TBC)

This all-new festival launched last year will see a range of superyachts take to Sydney Harbour, culminating in a multimillion-dollar sail-past that will end up in Rose Bay and a party in the shadow of two of Sydney’s international icons, the harbour bridge and the opera house. The festival will incorporate both land- and water-based activities for owners and aspiring owners alike.

2022 sanctuary cove boat show 056

Offshore Superboat Championships round 2 March (dates TBC)

Four classes of boats ranging from beefy inboard-engined catamarans to production models you can buy in a showroom compete for the title of being the best offshore racer in Australia. The 2024 calendar is yet to be announced.

Palm Beach International Boat Show March 21-24

For four days in March, North American superyacht buyers descend on Florida for the last show of the US boating season. A lot of the yachts on show will be second-hand, so be prepared to haggle over the price.

Mildura 100 March 30–31

Mildura Ski Club’s annual event caters for skiers of all skill levels ranging from veterans to masters, seniors, disabled, parents and partners, and the experts. Billed as the fastest ski race in the world, the record for the 100km Murray River race sits at a shade over half an hour, making for an average speed of 195km/h.

Discover Boating End-of-Season Runout April (dates TBC)

Melbourne’s St Kilda Marina becomes a venue for the return of a new-style boat show that marks the unofficial end of the Victorian boating season – at least for the fair-weather skippers. For the rest of us, it’s the chance to pick up a new ride or bit of gear to break in before the start of the next fairweather season.

Peninsula Fishing and Boat Show April 12–14

Melbourne’s Mornington Peninsula is the heartland of the city’s trailer boat community, with Western Port on one side and Port Phillip on the other. Mornington Park plays host to an annual show featuring the best of boating, diving, fishing and sailing equipment, motorboats, jet skis, accessories and yachts.

Mother’s Day May 12

That annual day on which you order a bunch of flowers and somehow the order stuffs up and they instead deliver a fishing rod.

Wear your Life jacket at Work Day May 17

The annual Wear your Life Jacket at Work Day is a reminder of the importance of wearing life jackets at all times. Modern slimline inflatable life jackets are very different to the old-style bulky ones we once had to wear, making them as comfortable as slipping on a jumper. 58th Annual Antigua Yacht Show

superyacht in the 58th annual yacht show

If there’s one thing that’s true, it’s that our team loves attending industry events. Not only is it a great way to network and meet fellow marine-focused companies, we also have the opportunity to strengthen past and present relationships. Our team actively scouts global superyacht events to help grow our company and to provide resources for the event attendees. After all, boat owners need trusted marine technicians and facilities they can rely on. Our team highly values this face-to-face communication. Why? Because it fosters longer-lasting relationships, encourages trust, and therefore strengthens the mission of The Yard Brisbane.

Recently we traveled to the West Indies to attend the 58th Annual Antigua Yacht Show. Over the course of the event, we enjoyed educating spectators on our services and facilities, connecting with colleagues, and of course, enjoying the stunning Caribbean waters. By traveling to these global events, we keep our skills sharp, harbor relationships, and stay in the loop of the latest industry trends and updates. The Antigua Yacht Show was especially crucial this year due to Australia’s latest bill .

The Special Recreational Vessels Bill permits foreign and flagged superyachts to charter in Australian waters. Before the law was put into place, there were more limited area where foreign vessels could set sail and charter to. We were excited to share this update with superyacht owners at this year’s event, and to mention our convenient location near the Port of Brisbane. With heightened travel to the South Pacific region due to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2021 America’s Cup in Auckland, more boat owners will be traveling to the Australasia area. The new bill makes it even easier for boat goers to stop in Australia without facing exorbitant fees or mountains of paperwork. Our team is looking forward to this change, and the opportunity to work with worldwide boaters.

This year’s event took place across four locations: Nelson’s Dockyard Marina, UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Falmouth Harbour Marina, and the Antigua Yacht Club Marina. There was about 90 world-class charter yachts, which attendees were given exclusive access to tour. The event attendees also were given the opportunity to meet the captains and crews of the charter vessels, who serve as key components of any luxury superyacht charter.

The Antigua Yacht Show is a favorite of many, and for good reason: cocktail parties, dinners, social events, and an overall relaxed atmosphere. Over the six-day event, participants enjoyed the viewing portions of the show, as well as an emergency preparedness session, wine tastings, information hours covering a variety of topics, and finally, a chef’s competition!

Our team left the Antigua Yacht Show feeling energized for the next superyacht show. With each event we travel to, we build upon our experience and expertise, grow relationships, and stay on top of trends and industry updates. By attending these events, we are strengthening The Yard Brisbane to ultimately better serve our customers and provide the utmost levels of care. We are looking forward to seeing what 2020 brings, and the years beyond.

Paris puts on a show for Olympic Opening Ceremony

Let the Paris 2024 Olympic Games begin!

On Friday, the Paris 2024 Olympic Games were officially opened with the Opening Ceremony along the River Seine.

The animating force, the raison d’être of the Paris 2024 Games is: “Games Wide Open.” A fitting touchstone for the first summer Games in eight years without the shadow of intense COVID-19 protocols, and with a determination to do things differently. As such, Paris was ready to put on a show for the world celebrating freedom, and organizers thought outside the box when it came to the Opening Ceremony.

For the first time ever, the Opening Ceremony did not take place within a stadium, but rather along the River Seine. As a result, the Ceremony featured unprecedented accessibility for the public, with over 320,000 spectators expected to come out to watch the show and cheer on the approximately 6,800 participating in the parade.

Ceremonial smoke in the colors of the France flag appear over the Seine River in Paris, France, during the opening ceremony of Paris 2024.

Athletes from 205 delegations floated down the river in 85 boats, starting with Greece, who retains the honour of proceeding first as the birthplace of the Olympic Games. They were followed by the Olympic Refugee Team, flying under the Olympic flag. After that, nations proceeded down the river in alphabetical order, according to the French spelling of the country.

Along the six kilometre voyage, there were 12 “artistic tableaux” involving approximately 2000 French performers. The tableaux took athletes and spectators on a journey of values and ideas, including: enchanté, synchronicity, liberty, equality, fraternity, sisterhood, sportsmanship, festivity, darkness, solemnity, solidarity, and eternity.

Team Canada passes the Eiffel Tower while cruising on the River Seine during the Opening Ceremony for Paris 2024.

The journey also took athletes past many of Paris’ most iconic landmarks and historic architecture, many of which have been converted to venues for the Games, including the Eiffel Tower, the Esplanade des Invalides, and the Grand Palais.

The Olympic flame also took a journey through French culture to arrive for the big moment of the cauldron lighting. A masked torchbearer based on a number of masked characters who have left their mark on French culture, such as the Phantom of the Opera and Ezio from Assassin’s Creed, flipped and jumped over Paris rooftops, ziplined over the Seine, and wandered through the Louvre, where figures of the worlds’ most famous paintings had left their frames to watch from the windows.

References to French literature, music, architecture and history abounded throughout the performances, with some highlights including performers suspended from the scaffolding surrounding the reconstruction of Notre Dame, a performance by rock band Gojira alongside a headless Marie Antoinette. And would it be France without a fashion show?

Some performers had less obvious connections to France, but widespread appeal, like pop star Lady Gaga, who gave a cabaret performance in French. As has become a tradition over the last few Olympic Games, John Lennon’s “Imagine” was performed, this time by French artist Juliette Armanet.

Canada cruised along the Seine as an instantly recognizable collective in head-to-toe red. With many nations struggling with how to protect their athletes from the pouring rain through the ceremony, Team Canada’s lululemon kit luckily included a rain poncho! And no amount of rain could dampen the joy of the Opening Ceremony.

Team Canada’s delegation was led by flag bearers Andre De Grasse and Maude Charron , both of whom are reigning Olympic champions in athletics and weightlifting, respectively. Team Canada shared a boat with China, Cameroon, Chile, and Central African Republic (we’re talking about big boats)!

Team USA and Team Australia were penultimate in the parade of nations as the upcoming hosts of the Olympic Summer Games, with LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032 coming up next. Host nation France closed out the parade with their staggering 609 athlete delegation.

More entertainment awaited Team Canada athletes when they arrived at the Trocadero. But meanwhile, Team Canada’s first breaking Olympian, Phil Wizard, provided some for his Canadian teammates as he showed off a few moves in front of the Eiffel Tower.

Paris 2024 spared nothing when it came to the theatrics. As all the athletes found their way back to dry (wet) land, a silver robot horse carrying a woman rider wearing the Olympic flag as a cape glided over the water, only to turn into a real horse and rider on land, ceremoniously delivering the flag to be raised for the opening of the Games.

The masked torch bearer headed the torch off to the legendary French soccer player Zinedine Zidane, who then handed it off to Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal, who took the torch as the Eiffel Tower began a light show. Meanwhile Nadal boarded a boat and rode along the Seine with the flame, where he handed the torch to American tennis player Serena Williams, who handed it to Romanian gymnast Nadia Comaneci and then American sprinter Carl Lewis. The final stages of the torch relay showcased international cooperation and friendship amongst various legends of sport.

brisbane yacht show

The boat finally pulled up to a dock near the Louvre where the torch was passed to along by an ever-increasing number of notable French athletes. Marie-José Pérec and Teddy Riner finally lit the cauldron in the Jardin des Tuileries. The cauldron took flight in a balloon-like structure.

And then FINALLY the moment that all Canadians were hoping for after rumours were swirling for weeks…Celine Dion serenaded the world from a stage on the Eiffel Tower, closing the Opening Ceremony with a beautiful connection to Canada. The Canadian singer was visibly overcome with emotion.

Paris lived up to its name as the City of Light, literally and figuratively sparkling in front of the world’s eyes. And now, we wait to watch Team Canada’s 337 athletes shine in the competition to come from now until August 11.

Paris Olympics opening ceremony delivers on the promise, defies the rain and inspires a dream

Analysis Sport Paris Olympics opening ceremony delivers on the promise, defies the rain and inspires a dream

People hold umbrellas in front of the Eiffel Tower, which is lit up in a light show

With the lighting of the Olympic flame, a sigh of relief.

This opening ceremony, a beast so bold as to have taken over the city of Paris almost entirely, is now a memory to cherish rather than a challenge to conquer.

It is difficult to properly convey the scope of this accomplishment and the sacrifices and accommodations made by this city to make it happen. The ambition was to create a truly unique ceremony, something new and inclusive and inspiring.

By that metric, this was a fabulous success.

Through the choppy waters of the River Seine came boat after boat of athletes, their arrivals punctuated by performances on the river, its banks and throughout the city .

A story was told as the Olympic flame was delivered through the city, the Eiffel Tower beamed as it never had before, Zinedine Zidane bookended it all and everything seemed to go off without a hitch.

The city of lights danced as one in the rain.

Lady Gaga

There were drag queens and silver horses and Louis Vuitton suitcases and a mysterious masked figure (which may or not have been Zizou all along?). Lady Gaga thrilled, and Céline Dion was c'est magnifique in closing the show atop la Tour Eiffel.

It was awkward at times, and my goodness was it wet, but by the end you had to step back and marvel at the feat of pulling this whole thing off.

Of course it all came at a cost. There was irony in the motto of these Olympics — Games Open Wide — as the city had very much been slammed shut on ceremony day by an unprecedented peacetime security operation.

There was an armed police officer for every civilian on the streets of Paris, and many of those streets were blocked off entirely. Enough metro stations were shut to almost render the whole thing useless, a situation worsened by the overnight arson attacks on the high-speed rail lines in and out of the city.

The locals, it seemed, had long since cleared out. Anyone who was left was braced for the hours-long battle through security to take up their vantage point along the river or in the Trocadéro.

There is a reason that something like this hasn't been attempted at an Olympic Games before.

Flag bearers

A traditional opening ceremony, held in a stadium, is predictable and relatively safe. You can push the boundaries all you like creatively but logistically speaking everything is contained and manageable.

To bring this vision to life meant preparing for every eventuality, foreseeing the unforeseeable, preparing for the unpreparable.

It meant shutting down Paris.

Indeed the only thing that the organisers couldn't prevent was the poor weather, which unfortunately drowned out much of what could have made this night that little bit more magical.

The specific timings of this ceremony were all designed with the sunset in mind, a sunset that was entirely blanketed by thick cloud.

What a shame that an otherwise resplendent Parisian week turned to deluge at the precise moment the opening ceremony began. The rain arrived within minutes of the event beginning and did not relent.

The athletes seemed unbothered, so too the many hundreds of thousands of people who clamoured for a glimpse. They donned their ponchos and they braved the downpour, determined to make a memory even if it didn't match the picture they had formed in their head.

Weather

Perhaps there was a message in that. Even something like this, the absolute pinnacle of creativity, planning and production, can fall foul of something completely out of human hands. Our ability to control everything will forever be compromised, but you can always make the most of what presents itself.

The more prevalent themes of the opening ceremony were hard to miss. In his program notes, creative director Thomas Jolly spoke of "peace, respect and diversity" as the key marks he wanted to hit. He certainly didn't miss.

Jolly's most pointed remarks though referred to the wider context these Olympics find themselves in — a world "at the crossroads of history and innovation, heritage and creativity" — and for the dream he was trying to create — "a world-city where a plural conception of living together is emerging: the possibility of an 'us'".

And at its heart, isn't that what the Olympic Games is all about?

Athletes and spectators come divided by national colours and competition but upon arrival immediately blend into one.

A ring of fire propelling a hot air balloon into the sky.

These Games, like this opening ceremony, can be a celebration of humanity. An all too timely reminder of our shared sameness while still highlighting excellence. Of recognising the joy of something as trivial as sport in the hope it can mend the world's wounds in some small way.

Cynicism is easy, but this was an opening ceremony that pleaded with us to feel something, to dream something.

There could be no better way to welcome the Paris Olympics. Let the Games begin.

Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show Logo

Boats Bump-In for their Biggest Party of the Year

Let the boat party begin! A bevy of spectacular boats have assembled on the Gold Coast for this year’s highly anticipated Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show 2024.

The traditional ‘Bump In’ was just a taste of the dazzling marine displays that a crowd of more than 45,000 visitors can expect to see at the Southern Hemisphere’s largest boat show, from May 23 to 26.

Johan Hasser, General Manager of Mulpha Events, said he and his team were thrilled to present 102 new product launches, more than 330 exhibitors, 700-plus boats and over 2500 marine products to Show visitors.

“We are very excited about the amazing line-up at SCIBS 2024,” he said. “Once again, our exhibitors and partners have come up with the best of the best across luxury superyachts, to smaller recreational vessels and personal watercrafts (PWC), to fishing gear and an incredible variety of luxury lifestyle products. We’re confident this will be a winning combination, especially with new offerings such as our Lagoon Beach Club VIP experience.”

Mr Hasser said SCIBS continues to attract the sought-after and premium brands of the marine industry along with a selection of complementary luxury lifestyle products including a spectacular line-up from major partner, Bentley Brisbane & Gold Coast. He thanked all those who will be exhibiting their latest products at the Show and extended a warm welcome to both boating aficionados and first-time visitors.

Among the premium brands showcasing new products at SCIBS 2024 will be Riviera Australia.

“On Thursday morning this week, our team will officially showcase our very latest creation, this will be the world premiere of an exceptional new Riviera yacht”, said Rivieria Australia’s CEO, Rodney Longhurst.

“Our display this year is a grand showcase of yachts from our award-winning collection. From the magnificent 78 Motor Yacht to selected models from our Sports Motor Yacht, SUV, Sport Yacht and Belize collections.  Each of these yachts represent our finest yachts and our expert team will be very proud to guide visitors through an inspection during the show,” he said.

Horizon Yachts Australia will also display two brand new models – the fast-cruising FD90 yacht and the FD80 yacht. The most expensive boat on display at the Show, the FD90 has been custom built for Australian yachting enthusiasts and represents a fusion of modern design and unrivalled performance. The uniquely Australian-tailored FD80 Yacht can operate as either a private yacht or charter vessel.

“SCIBS represents our largest showcase of Horizon Yachts, boasting the world’s most extensive on-water display of our brand,” said Chief Operating Officer Erica Rae. “There truly is no other boat show in the world quite like Sanctuary Cove. With its integration of a hotel resort, local restaurants, and boutique shops all within the show gates, it transcends the typical boat show experience to become a destination in its own right. It truly is an unparalled showcase of luxury and innovation in the yachting industry.”

Ms Rae added that SCIBS consistently shines for Horizon Yachts, drawing in loyal clients who have previously owned multiple Horizon yachts, and generating leads and sales directly. “Each year, enthusiasts from across Australia and New Zealand fly in to witness the unveiling of our latest and most exciting models,” she said.

Olympics opening ceremony recap: Highlights from Paris torch relay, flame lighting

W ith an ambitious and unique opening ceremony , the 2024 Paris Olympics got under way when thousands of Olympians, including Team USA athletes , cruised along the Seine River on Friday night.

The city’s iconic landmarks provided a stunning backdrop for the parade of nations. Athletes from around the world, including Team USA flag bearers LeBron James and Coco Gauff , floated on boats for the six-kilometer route that traveled east to west across Paris from the Pont d’Austerlitz to the Trocadero.

USA TODAY Sports brought you live updates from Paris, highlights and more throughout the opening ceremony. (Follow NBC's replay of the opening ceremony in prime time.)

Who lit the Olympic Cauldron?

The Olympic Cauldron was lit by Teddy Riner, a three-time Olympic champion in judo, and Marie-Jose Perec, a three-time Olympic champion in track and field.

Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams carried Olympic torch

In an Olympics opening ceremony surprise, Rafael Nadal carried the Olympic torch once it reached the Eiffel Tower. Nadal might as well have honorary French residency after winning a record 14 French Opens. He won four in a row from 2005-2008, five in a row from 2010-2014, another four in a row from 2017-2020 and his final one in 2022. He is 112-4 all-time at Roland Garros. A statue of him was erected outside the stadium in 2021. Nadal has 22 Grand Slams total.

Nadal then passed the torch to fellow tennis legend Serena Williams. Three of her 23 Grand Slam titles came at the French Open. Carl Lewis, a four-time Olympic champion at the 1984 Games, and Romanian gymnast Nadia Comaneci, who scored the first perfect 10 in Olympic history at the 1976 Games, also were part of the torch’s final journey. — Nancy Armour

Amelie Mauresmo passed Olympic torch to Tony Parker

The tennis theme in the Olympic torch relay continued when Amelie Mauresmo, the only French player to be No. 1 in the Open era, took the torch after it arrived off the boat. Tony Parker, who paved the way for French players in the NBA and won four titles with the San Antonio Spurs, took the handoff from Mauresmo. Parker and Carter continued running with the torch after they passed it over to a trio of French athletes. — Nancy Armour

Team USA's LeBron James, Coco Gauff not slowed by rain

The rain wasn’t spoiling the party for LeBron James, Coco Gauff and the rest of the U.S. Olympic team.

“Representing the red, white and blue, there’s no better time,” James said during an interview with NBC’s Maria Taylor during the parade of nations. “We’re here for the USA and ready to go out and compete at a high level.”

The NBA superstar and the Grand Slam champion were selected as flagbearers by the rest of the U.S. team. Flagbearers held their country’s flags aloft as the team boats floated down the Seine while other athletes waved smaller flags. But Gauff and James also took time to pose for photos with others on the boat – including the captain – and take in the sights of Paris.

“Seeing a lot of water, first off,” Gauff said. “But also some amazing people, a lot of amazing athletes and we’re all excited to represent Team USA.”

Asked if the steady rain put a damper on their special moment, James said no.

“The rain can’t stop us,” he said. — Nancy Armour

Axelle Saint-Cirel performs French national anthem on Grand Palais roof

On the roof of the Grand-Palais and wearing colors of the French flag, Axelle Saint-Cirel, the Choeur and the Maîtrise de Radio France performed the French national anthem, called The Marseillaise. It was composed in 1792 by Claude Joseph Rouget de Lisle, who was an officer for the French Engineers. It was declared the national anthem in 1795. As the national anthem was performed, the Republic Guard raised the flag at the Trocadéro. Composer Victor le Masne musically rearranged the national anthem for the opening ceremony.

Women's basketball forward  A'Ja Wilson  looks to have added an extra piece of fashion to her Team USA Ralph Lauren outfit — thanks to the help of Steph Curry. What country has the most athletes in the Olympics?

There are 10,714 athletes from 206 different countries scheduled to take part in this year's Olympic Games. The United States  will have the largest national delegation at the Summer Games in Paris with 593 athletes. Host nation France is second with 573, followed by Australia (460), Germany (427), Japan (404), Italy (403), China (388), Spain (382), Great Britain (327) and Canada (318) rounding out the top 10.

Why was Australia after Zambia and Zimbabwe at opening ceremony?

The sight of the Australian team coming after Zambia and Zimbabwe might have taken those who know their alphabet by surprise. But there was a reason for the Aussies being so far out of alphabetical order. Countries that are hosting upcoming Olympics come at the end of the Parade of Nations. Brisbane is hosting the 2032 Summer Games, so Australia was the third-to-last team. The United States was second-to-last, with the Olympics returning to Los Angeles in four years. And France, the host of these Paris Olympics, was the last country in the 85-boat flotilla. — Nancy Armour

Olympics opening ceremony order of countries

The order of the parade of nations is determined by the French spelling of their country names. Germany is Allemagne in French, for example, so it goes with the As, not the Gs. The only exceptions are the United States, which is Etats-Unis in French but goes second-to-last because it is hosting the next Summer Games, and France, because it’s the host country.

Metal band at Paris Olympics: Who is Gojira?

The metal band Gojira , who performed at the Olympics opening ceremony, is made up of Joe Duplantier, Mario Duplantier, Christian Andreu and Jean-Michel La- badie. They performed at the Conciergerie, which was the residence of French kings in medieval times. It became a prison during the French revolution and Marie-Antoinette was one of its most famous prisoners. Gojira performed alongside singer Marina Viotti.

Why Russia, Belarus are banned from 2024 Olympics

Once again, Russia is technically banned from appearing at the Olympic Games . Yet once again, Russian athletes will compete under a different name − a handful of them, at least.

At the 2024 Paris Olympics , which begin this week, 15 athletes from Russia − and 18 from neighboring Belarus − are slated to compete as "Individual Neutral Athletes," or AINs for short, according to the most recent statistics released by the International Olympic Committee on Saturday . The AIN classification means that Russian and Belarusian flags, national anthems and uniforms will be absent from the Paris Games. This punishment was levied by the International Olympic Committee following its invasion of Ukraine. — Tom Schad

Who made medals for the Paris Olympics?

The Monnaie de Paris, which has been minting France’s coins since 864. The company also made the medals for the Athens Olympics in 1896, the first modern Olympic Games, and the two previous Summer Games in Paris, in 1900 and 1924.

How many medals were made for the Paris Olympics?

Why does greece go first in the olympics.

Greece goes first at the opening ceremony every Olympics because it is the birthplace of the Olympic Games.

Why is Peyton Manning wearing an arm band?

NBC opening ceremony co-host Peyton Manning sported an arm band on his right forearm during the opening ceremony broadcast, much like he did during his playing days as an NFL quarterback. He joked he was wearing it because he had notes on all 200-plus countries in the opening ceremomny.

Giannis Antetokounmpo on being Greece's flag bearer

“That is an honor,”  he said . “If I am the flag bearer, great. If I am not, OK. I am just happy that I have a good coaching staff and a good team, I am in the Olympics."

Who designed the Olympics flag?

Pierre de Coubertin, who is considered the founder of the modern Olympics, designed the rings in July 1913. The Olympics logo was first used on a flag in 1914. That original flag is now at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne. The IOC officially adopted the rings logo and flag in 1914.

Americans in Paris

Rachael Raskovich, Amanda Mason-Sekula and Kelly Holmes arrived at the opening ceremony wearing American flag themed hats, red white and blue glasses and sequin USA jackets with "Proud American" stitched on the back.

"Amazon," Raskovich said with a smile when asked about the gear.

The trio of friends met in law school and said they will spend the next week or so hopping around to events around the city. They have tickets to beach volleyball and equestrian, Raskovich said, among other sports. Their group was just one of the many clad in red, white and blue that lined the southern banks of the Seine River on Friday night. Doris Ng of Chicago was among the U.S. spectators who were still searching for a good spot from which to view the ceremony in the hour before it began.

"We thought we were going to be on time," she said. "I think everybody else beat us to the punch already."

Fortunately, she also has tickets to the closing ceremony, she said. — Tom Schad

Not every local was in a festive mood

One man saw my media credential and wanted to make sure — despite barely speaking English — that he was upset over a rumor Celine Dion had been paid 2 million Euros to perform one song at the opening ceremony. Another woman, an American who has lived in Paris for 15 years, said property taxes went up and yet Parisians were not given much access to events or even public spaces to watch the festivities despite the financial and social burden being put on them.

But even when the rain began falling, people did not scatter to look for shelter. Instead they powered through, trying to get a better look at the bleu, blanc and rouge streaks being left in the sky by an airplane flyover.

Restaurants, which don’t have televisions here, were generally not busy. If you were going out to eat Friday night, it’s because you didn’t care to watch the show live. But inside one of them in a residential area near the Eiffel Tower, you could hear the singing of La Marseillaise, the French National Anthem. For a few minutes, the din of conversation went completely silent. — Dan Wolken

Team USA opening ceremony outfit

Team USA’s opening ceremony outfit is a modern take on a tailored look. On top, a tailored single-breasted wool blazer with red and white tipping is worn over a striped oxford shirt. The bottom is a more casual tapered jean and classic suede buck shoe fit.

Ralph Lauren works closely with Team USA and the goal, as always, is to “do something graphic and uniquely American,” chief brand and innovation officer David Lauren said.

To account for the heat, the company constantly looks at different fabrics and layering systems to keep the athlete’s body temperature in check, Lauren said. All items in both the opening and closing ceremony outfits are manufactured in the United States.

Coco Gauff opens up on being U.S. flag bearer, making Olympic debut

Coco Gauff is making her Olympic debut in Paris and she is one of two U.S. flag bearers . “(Competing) in the  Olympics  has always been up there with winning a Grand Slam, like top goals,” Gauff told USA TODAY Sports this summer.  Read our full feature on Gauff .

On the opening ceremony red carpet, Serena Williams was asked about Gauff being the flag bearer. "Isn't that great. I'm so excited to see her tonight. I'm just so happy for her," the tennis legend said.

Why is Snoop Dogg at Olympics?

With his mind on the Olympics and the Olympics on his mind, Snoop Dogg is, indeed, back for the 2024 Paris Olympics . The rapper, who will carry the torch ahead of the opening ceremony , is primed for a bigger role three years after his reactions to the dressage competition with Kevin Hart went viral at the Tokyo Games.

Snoop will appear regularly on “Primetime in Paris,” serving as a “ special correspondent ” for NBC. During parts of the primetime show, Snoop Dogg will interact with Team USA athletes, their families, or explore Paris and share his experiences and insights with the night's audience. He's also carrying the Olympic torch .

Paris Olympics closing ceremony date

The 2024 Summer Games will hold the closing ceremony on Aug. 11

How many times has Paris hosted the Olympics?

Paris has hosted the Summer Olympics three times: 1900, 1924 and 2024.

Are any U.S. athletes skipping the opening ceremony?

About 350 of Team USA’s 592 athletes will march – or rather, float – in today's opening ceremony, according to Nicole Deal, who oversees the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee’s security operations.

That means about 40% of the U.S. delegation will be absent, though that is not exactly unusual.

Many athletes and teams – especially those competing early in the Games – choose to pass on the opening ceremony because it often runs late into the night and requires them to spend several hours on their feet. U.S. gymnasts and swimmers, for example, regularly skip the ceremony to rest up for their competitions – which, in some cases, begin the next morning.

U.S. swimming star Katie Ledecky said earlier this week that she never planned on going to the Paris opening ceremony for this very reason. She swims the 400-meter freestyle Saturday morning. — Tom Schad

She posted on X after her performance to encourage the athletes competing in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

2028 Summer Olympics

Stephen Curry among Team USA debutants in Paris Olympics

The Paris Olympics will be the first for many young stars on Team USA like women's sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson . One of the older Olympians making their debut is 36-year-old two-time NBA MVP Steph Curry . He's making his mark in the Olympics with "ICON" painted on his nails and Peyton Manning complimented his attitude.

Team USA is off down the Seine

Team USA's contingent of nearly 600 athletes is making the trek down the famed Seine, which will take the Olympians past the Trocadero, the Austerlitz Bridge and many other culturally rich locations before arriving near the Eiffel Tower.

French anthem sung by Axelle Saint-Cirel

French mezzosoprano Axelle Saint-Cirel, wearing the colors of the French flag and holding an enormous Tricolore, sang a stunning rendition of France's national anthem, "La Marseillaise."

Saint-Cirel's singing would have been remarkable by itself, but the drama was elevated by the fact that she was on the very top of the Grand Palais the towering exhibition hall and museum along the Champs-Élysées.

Minions attempt, fail to join Olympics

The Minions, popular characters from the Despicable Me franchise, have blessed the opening ceremonies with a slapstick attempt at Olympic participation. The lesson? It turns out you can't do a javelin competition in a submarine.

Why the Minions? Illumination Studios Paris is the animation studio responsible for the mischievous yellow...creatures, and its headquarters is located mere blocks away from the Seine River.

Olympic Surfing will take place in Tahiti

The opening ceremonies have cut away from Paris entirely, switching to shots from the other side of the world in Tahiti.

Why? The Surfing competition at the 2024 Paris Games will take place many thousands of miles away from Paris, with Tahiti (the main island in French Polynesia, a semi-autonomous region governed by France) making a beautiful setting that just so happens to have the big waves required.

Metal band Gojira draws rave reviews

The remarkable musical portion of the opening ceremonies continued with a Marie Antoinette-inspired performance from metal band Gojira .

As the Olympians floated by the Conciergerie on the Seine, Gojira took the celebration of this 33rd Olympics into a unique place. Following up a song from the famous musical Les Miserables, Gojira's segment involved a beheaded and singing Marie Antoinette, punishing guitar riffs, flamethrowers, and fireworks.

An estimated 10,500 athletes are competing in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games but not all of them will be in the Parade of Nations. Paris Olympics officials estimate 6,800 athletes are attending the ceremony.

Smallest countries in the opening ceremony

Tuvalu is the smallest country by estimated population in the Parade of Nations. The Polynesian island nation has an estimated population of 11,312 people as of 2022 and has two athletes in the Paris Olympics: Karalo Maibuca (men's 100 meters) and Temalini Manatoa (women's 100 meters).

Pacific island nation Nauru is close behind with one athlete - men's 100 meters athlete Winzar Kakiouea - and an estimated population of 12,668 as of 2022.

Monaco is the smallest country by size (0.8 square miles) and has six athletes in the Paris Olympics:

  • Marie-Charlotte Gastaud, women's 100 meters
  • Marvin Gadeau, men's +100 kg judo
  • Quentin Antognelli, men's single sculls rowing
  • Théo Druenne, men's 800-meter freestyle
  • Lisa Pou, women's 10 km open water swimming
  • Yang Xiaoxon, women's singles table tennis

How many events are in the Paris Olympics?

There are 339 events across 32 different sports in this year's Summer Games. Team USA is competing in 31 out of 32 sports; U.S. athletes are not competing in team handball.

Which country has the most athletes at the Paris Olympics?

The U.S. has the most athletes at the games with 592.

Parade of Nations order

The Parade of Nations order is set alphabetically in the host nation's language, hence why some countries are higher than expected. For example, Spain is earlier in the order than expected because the French word for Spain is Espagne.

Future host nations are at the end of the Parade of Nations as well. Australia will host the 2032 Olympic Games in Brisbane and the U.S. will host the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, so both countries are at the end of the parade ahead of this year's host France.

“You hear about that tunnel before a football or basketball game, but I’d argue this is the coolest tunnel of all time. Being on a boat on the River Seine, headed toward the Eiffel Tower, to start the Olympics? I don’t know how you beat that.” – NBC Olympics Opening Ceremony Co-Host Peyton Manning

STAMFORD, Conn. – July 26, 2024 – NBCUniversal will showcase the unprecedented spectacle of the Opening Ceremony of the Paris Olympics with its primetime presentation tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock , featuring extended interviews with Team USA and new elements, as well as Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg’s opening film, “Land of Stories,” and other surprises.

Emmy Award-winning talk show host and Grammy Award-winning artist Kelly Clarkson and Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback and two-time Super Bowl champion Peyton Manning join two-time Sports Emmy Award-winner and NBC Olympics primetime host Mike Tirico in hosting the Opening Ceremony, while TODAY Show hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb as well as NBC Sports’ Maria Taylor and Snoop Dogg conduct interviews and provide commentary along the route. Melissa Stark conducts interviews on the red carpet.

Tonight’s presentation also includes performances from Grammy Award-winning artists Celine Dion and Lady Gaga .

Following are highlights from today’s coverage of the Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony on NBC and Peacock:

Mike Tirico : “It is 6 p.m. [Paris time] in the City of Light on this Friday evening, the perfect setting for a spectacle as anticipated and audacious as any in the long history of this world capital. It is the opening night of the Paris Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad. It will not look like any Opening Ceremony of years past. Forget just a stadium, forget what you’ve seen before – this Ceremony is being staged all across Paris and along the Seine River, which runs through its heart…An extraordinarily ambitious concept by the organizers that has raised the degree of difficulty but also raised the stakes for a potentially unforgettable night to start these Olympic Games.”

Peyton Manning on the athletes’ experience at the Opening Ceremony along the River Seine : “It’s great to see these athletes taking it all in, every moment of this boat ride. It’s something they’ll always remember. It’s unlike any pregame moment I’ve ever been a part of. You hear about that tunnel before a football or basketball game, but I’d argue this is the coolest tunnel of all time. Being on a boat on the River Seine, headed toward the Eiffel Tower, to start the Olympics? I don’t know how you beat that.”

Noah Lyles to Maria Taylor on Team USA’s boat : “I love seeing moments made. That’s what I like to do as a performer and just seeing all the Olympians, knowing how much care and hard work went into this. We didn’t get to experience any of this in 2021, so this is a moment I want to enjoy. L.A. [2028] is not promised so take it in now.”

Kelly Clarkson on Celine Dion’s performance : “To have that moment. She’s a vocal athlete. She’s incredible…In my field, she is the gold [medal] winner for vocal athletes.”

Tirico closing the Opening Ceremony : “The Opening Ceremony has gotten this thing off to a flying start. The 2024 Games promised unique, promised different, and the beginning has been just that, and with the Opening Ceremony behind us and the Games officially open, we’re now turning our attention to a blockbuster opening weekend of these Paris Olympics.”

Manning as Opening Ceremony concludes : “You can see the emotion on their faces and how much pride they have in representing their country. I went to the Olympics in Atlanta in 1996 as a college student, never got to participate as an American football player, always wanted to, so to be a small part of the Opening Ceremony here in Paris has been a great thrill for me.”

Savannah Guthrie on Paris : “Absolutely beautiful. Paris in any weather still beats just about anywhere in the world.”

Manning on the emotions of the Opening Ceremony : “It’s such an emotional moment. For many of the athletes, just the fact that they’re here tonight makes this moment even more special. They truly are Olympians; this moment solidifies that. They can share this moment with their friends and family, unlike past Olympics where friends and family weren’t allowed.”

Manning on the energy of the ceremony : “It’s got a little Mardi Gras feeling to it…It’s a party on the Seine. People are having a good time… I just love how fired up all the athletes are. The rain’s not doing one thing to them.”

LeBron James to Taylor on being a Team USA flagbearer : “It’s an honor. It goes back all the way to my hometown and all of our communities. For myself and Coco ( Gauff ), for us to be able to represent our countries, us being Black kids as well and represent our culture and where we come from, it gives everybody so much hope and that’s all we can ask for. We take it with the utmost responsibility and honor.”

Coco Gauff on being a Team USA flagbearer : “It means a lot to me to be here and represent Team USA and be with the GOAT, LeBron James. I’m so excited and can’t wait to do well in the Games.”

Stephen Curry to Taylor on being a first-time Olympian : “To be here and experience it for myself, I’m a true fan out here. No matter what you experience in your career, there’s something very humbling about it. The gratitude flows when you know you’re an Olympic athlete and being on this boat with the rest of the American athletes. I’m excited to be here.”

Manning on the rainy weather : “I just love how the athletes are having a great time. The rain is not dampening their spirits. I played in a Super Bowl in the rain. It’s not how you see it in your dreams, but it doesn’t take away from the moment. They’re all having a great time and they also have to go out and perform in the Olympics starting tomorrow. The balance of those emotions, that’s impressive to see.”

Manning on Irish golfer Shane Lowry : “This is Irish golf weather right here. I promise you Shane is feeling right at home. He’s definitely got a cold beverage on that boat somewhere.”

Clarkson on the fashion runway : “Everyone is included at this table. It doesn’t matter who you are. They represent all ages, all ethnicities, everything is represented on that runway, and I think that’s so important that Paris did that.”

Manning reacting to the Canadian soccer team using a drone to watch opposition practice : “A little ‘Spygate’ in soccer in the Olympics.”

Manning on wearing a quarterback wristband for the Opening Ceremony : “I have notes on all 200 countries, all 10,000 athletes.” Tirico : “That’s just Peyton Manning being Peyton Manning.”
