Coworkers are going down for a convention and their colleagues are staying in different hotels. Can you tell me the best way to get from the Grand Floridian to either the Yacht Club or Swan Dolphin Resort? Cab? Walk? About how long will it take? THANKS!!!

how to get from grand floridian to yacht club

KarlaG4Kids

Love to travel, especially to disney.

The Free way is to take the monorail to the MK, get off and walk to the bus stop for the Yacht Club. If they want to then go to the swan or dolphin they can take the boat that stops at the yacht Club and Swan & Dolphin. It can take a while. If trying to save time they should take a cab.

LindaR

If you have the bellman call for a cab, it takes only a few minutes! i have never waited more than 5 minutes for a cab.

It would be about a 10-15 minute ride, depending on traffic.

Disney Transportation Map

Our Disney Transportation Map is an interactive map designed to help you plan your next Disney vacation. Use it to determine which Disney Resort is the best fit for your next trip to Florida!

How to Use the Disney Transportation Map and Guide

The massive Walt Disney World Resort transportation system can be confusing. Use our Disney World Transportation Map/Guide to navigate your way around the park. We provide the bus, monorail, and boat routes you will need to reach your destination.

To use the interactive Disney World Transportation Map and Guide, simply click on the name of the Disney Resort you wish to depart from or arrive at. You will see the Disney transportation options available to you. The transportation routes are color-coded and highlighted to correspond with the information in the legend key. Note that certain destinations do not have direct transportation options, and you may need to take a connecting mode of transportation to reach your destination.

Walt Disney World Transportation Map and Guide

Disney Transport  is a massive public transportation system at Disney World that provides efficient transportation within the park. All modes of Disney transportation are complementary (i.e., FREE) and open to guests staying at a Disney Resort and staying off-property.

The system consists of buses, monorails, watercraft (water taxis, boats, and ferries), and other assorted modes of transport heading to areas throughout Disney World. Disney Transport provides guests with a wide variety of transportation options, including resorts to theme parks, theme parks to theme parks, resorts to resorts, and Disney Springs (the shopping, dining, and entertainment district). In other words, where ever you want to go to Disney World, you can get there using some form of Disney transportation. Plus, there are taxi services like Uber and Lyft within the park if you so choose.

Because of Disney’s large size – 25 Disney Resorts, 4 theme parks, and two water parks – deciding which mode of transportation you should use to get from point A to point B can be confusing. Thus, we have created a Disney World transportation map to help you find the best route to your destination. Continue reading for detailed information about transportation routes and pickup locations to and from each Disney Resort listed on the map.

How Does Walt Disney World Resort Transportation Work?

Disney provides transportation using buses, ferries/boats, monorails, as well as a few other options like railroad and parking lot trams. One of the great things about Disney transportation lines is that it is entirely free to use, which means you can potentially spend no money on transportation during your stay at the park. Of course, there are plenty of  parking lots if you choose to use your own car (you can even get free parking if you’re staying onsite) — and you can use taxi/Uber/Lyft options (extra charge) to speed up your arrival if necessary. However, if you plan on staying at a Disney Resort, there really is no need to open your wallet to get around Disney World.

As you can see from the Disney World Transportation Map, there is a wide availability of free transportation inside the park. In addition, every Disney Resort has stations/stops to catch various modes of transportation to a theme park, water park, and other destinations around Disney World.

(Note: For maps of the theme parks, water parks, Disney Resort hotels, and Disney Springs, please reference our comprehensive  Disney World Map  page for printable PDF maps.)

Buses at Disney World

Buses provide Disney World guests a mode of transportation in locations where monorail or boat are not available, and walking is not an option. You can find Disney’s bus service connecting all in-park Disney resort hotels with each theme park and water park (most buses provide direct service), to/from Disney Springs, and service between parks.  Like all modes of Disney transportation, bus service is complimentary and offered to both visitors staying at a Walt Disney World Resort as well as those staying  off-site .

On average, Disney buses run every 20 minutes from all Walt Disney World Resorts, although wait times can vary. To accommodate breakfast dining reservations and parks with Extra Magic Hours, bus service to the theme parks typically begins at 6:30-7 a.m. (running on a less frequent basis). Buses run at full operation roughly one hour before the park opens and stop running up to 2 hours after the park closes in the evening. Buses to/from Disney Springs remain in operation until 2 a.m. Check with your Walt Disney World Resort for the latest information.

Larger  Disney World hotels have bus stops inside the resort grounds, whereas smaller resorts typically have stops near the resort’s front entrance. The bus stops for theme parks are located near the park entrance, and the Disney Springs stop is located near the Town Center entrance.

Transportation and Ticket Center & Monorail Service at Disney World

Disney Transportation Map

With over 150,000 daily riders, the  Disney World monorail  is one of the world’s most heavily used monorail systems. There are three monorail lines at Disney, all originating from the  Transportation and Ticket Center  (TTC). The Disney World Transportation Map lists them all. Monorail service is free for Resort guests and non-guests.

The “ Resort ” monorail line loops between Magic Kingdom and the TTC, making stops at the Polynesian, Grand Floridian, and Contemporary Resorts.

The “ Express ” monorail bypasses the resorts and travels directly between the TTC and Magic Kingdom.

The “ Epcot ” monorail line provides service between the TTC and Epcot.

Transportation from a Deluxe Walt Disney World Resort to the Theme Parks

Guests staying at the Magic Kingdom-area resorts can take the monorail or boats to Magic Kingdom and buses to the other theme parks and water parks. Because of its proximity, guests staying at the Contemporary can walk to Magic Kingdom if they wish.

Guests staying at the Boardwalk-area resorts can either walk or take a ferry boat to Epcot and Hollywood Studios and buses to other theme parks and water parks.

Guests of other  Disney World Deluxe resorts  will use bus transportation to get to their theme park destination.

*see below for resort-specific transportation options

Transportation from Value and Moderate Disney Resorts to the Theme Parks

Guests staying at Value and Moderate resorts will  not  have access to either boats or monorail but  do  have access to buses that go directly to each theme park. Walking directly to a nearby park from your hotel may even be possible. For guests staying at Fort Wilderness, Disney offers a free shuttle service around the resort, making internal loops to take guests to different areas of the gigantic campground.

Transportation Between Resorts

Taking the free Disney transportation between parks can be confusing to the uninitiated. We recommend that you head to the nearest theme park and hop on a bus, monorail, or ferry to your destination. You may also find that heading to Disney Springs and catching a bus from there is an easy option. If time is of major concern, the quickest way to travel between resorts is by taxi/Uber/Lyft. This should cost you in the $10-$15 range, but the time you save may be worth the added expense.

Transportation from Disney Springs

Disney Springs  provides free parking throughout the day. While this may sound tempting to guests with cars, be warned that there is no direct transportation to the theme parks from Disney Springs. You can certainly take a bus or water taxi to other transportation hubs and find connecting services to the parks from there. Just be aware that transportation originating from Disney Springs will take longer than from other locations within Disney World. On a positive note, one-way service from the parks to Disney Springs  is  provided after 4 pm.

Transportation from Disney Deluxe Resorts

That said, you will find buses that service all Disney World theme parks, water parks, and Disney Springs. As you exit the main lobby, the Animal Kingdom Lodge bus station is on the left. Disney Minnie Vans, Uber, Lyft, and Taxi Service

For those of you who don’t mind spending the extra money to get better service, then Walt Disney World has a few options for you. Guests can opt for the convenience and playfulness of the Disney Minnie Vans service or the standard on-demand ride services of Lyft and Uber. And yes, there are still plenty of old-school taxis within the park as well. Any of these options will improve your comfort level and save you time.

Disney Minnie Vans

Disney Minnie Vans is Walt Disney World’s on-demand ride service. These vehicles operate daily from 6:30 am to 12:30 am and are available to anyone within the park.

Although Disney has partnered with Lyft on this service,  Disney Minnie Vans  are actually operated by Disney and driven by Disney Cast Members (Disney employees). To schedule a Disney Minnie Van, you simply open the standard Lyft app and call for a pickup as you would for a normal Lyft ride.

As far as the vehicles go, the vans are more like midsize SUVs. They are painted red with white polka dots (a la Minnie Mouse). Each vehicle will hold six passengers and carry two adjustable car seats for children.

The cost of Minnie Vans is much higher than a taxi, Uber, and standard Lyft rides. Be aware the Guests can only be picked up in designated pickup zones and not from sidewalks or non-designated areas. Minnie Vans are able to drop you off directly at the Magic Kingdom or next to Pioneer Hall at Fort Wilderness or anywhere else you wish to go.

Disney Minnie Vans are a good option if you don’t mind paying for comfort and point-to-point convenience.

Lyft and Uber

On-demand Lyft and Uber services are available throughout the Walt Disney World Resort.

While cheaper than Minnie Vans and regular taxi services, be aware that “surge pricing” is in effect during periods of high demand. Prices for Lyft and Uber could potentially exceed taxi rates during this time. But, for the most part, Lyft and Uber will be the cheapest transportation option (other than the free Disney Transportation options listed above).

Using an on-demand ride service like Uber and Lyft is fairly straightforward. Just download one of the apps and use it on your Android or iPhone. Remember to stay put once you call for the car, so there is no confusion as you meet your driver.

Taxis are located throughout Walt Disney World Resort and use different brand names (Yellow Cab, City, Checker, or Safety). However, all the taxis are yellow, and all are operated by Mears Transportation (a company that has an official relationship with Disney). We recommend that you use the yellow cabs (sedans and vans) with meters, lest you pay more than you have to.

Call (407) 699-9999 to schedule a pickup, or have your hotel’s front desk call over to a Yellow Cab or taxi to wait for you.

How To Disney

Planning Resorts Tips

Disney’s grand floridian resort vs disney’s yacht club resort – which disney deluxe resort is best.

Disney's Grand Floridian vs Disney's Yacht Club

With twenty-two Disney Resort hotels to choose from when visiting the Walt Disney World Resort, you have quite a decision regarding accommodation. Disney hotels place you right in the heart of the magic. When you stay in Lake Buena Vista, you are guaranteed the Disney experience in every aspect of your Disney vacation.

If you are considering staying in a Disney Deluxe Resort, you have the most hotels to choose from. Half of the Disney hotels fit the Deluxe Resort category, meaning you have eleven to choose from. Some Disney Resorts are Disney Vacation Club Resorts, while others have dedicated areas for Disney Vacation Club Members. The Disney Deluxe Resorts are:

  • Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
  • Contemporary Resort
  • Polynesian Village Resort
  • Beach Club Resort
  • Yacht Club Resort
  • BoardWalk Inn
  • Riviera Resort
  • Animal Kingdom Lodge
  • Wilderness Lodge
  • Saratoga Springs
  • Old Key West

But what if you’ve narrowed your choice of Disney hotel to two; Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney’s Yacht Club? How do you possibly choose between the two? Let’s look at each Resort in more detail. We aim to identify the best of the two Walt Disney World hotels when considering different things.

The Walt Disney Company knows how to theme everything. Disney hotels are no exception. While all Walt Disney World hotels are themed with style, the Deluxe Resorts undoubtedly have the best theming. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort have a theme that exudes class and elegance.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is a lavish hotel that perfectly combines modern sophistication and Victorian elegance. The Resort’s grand lobby has a classic feel, while the outdoor areas are shaded with palm trees, offering a nod to Palm Beach’s golden era. Expect polished marble floors, plush carpets, classic seating areas, and elegant floral pieces inside the hotel. Externally, stroll along the red-bricked paths alongside perfectly manicured lawns amongst the white and pink-roofed buildings.

Disney's Grand Floridian Lobby

The formal grace of New England inspires Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. The lobby is inviting yet intimate, with plush carpets, significant seating areas, and stylish nautical elements. Externally, Disney’s Yacht Club can be identified by the lighthouse in front of the Disney Resort. The light grey finish suits the Disney hotel perfectly and offers a beautiful backdrop to Crescent Lake.

Disney's Yacht Club Lobby

Of the two Disney Deluxe Resorts, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa takes the crown for theming. While we adore the beauty of Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian keeps us returning every Disney vacation. While we may not be Guests of the Resort, we love to stop by and spend time in the beautiful part of the Walt Disney World Resort.

Both of the Disney Deluxe Resorts have Disney Parks as their neighbor. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is located next to Magic Kingdom Park, making it easy for Guests to enjoy Early Theme Park Entry or Extended Evening Hours at the Disney theme park. However, being located close to the most northern part of the Walt Disney World Resort means you must travel for a little longer to get to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park and Disney Springs.

Grand Floridian Marina

While Disney’s Yacht Club doesn’t have Magic Kingdom as its neighbor, the Disney Resort has easy access to two Disney Parks. Disney’s Yacht Club is located across Crescent Lake from EPCOT World Showcase. Guests of the Disney Resort hotel also have easy access to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is also centrally located in Lake Buena Vista. As such, you can expect to arrive at Magic Kingdom Park, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, or Disney Springs in less than ten minutes.

Disney's Yacht Club Grounds

Disney’s Yacht Club is our preferred Disney hotel compared to Disney’s Grand Floridian when it comes to location. We enjoy its central location in Walt Disney World and its easy access to two Disney Parks.

Transportation

All of the Disney Deluxe Resorts have access to at least two modes of Disney transport, except Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Access to more than one mode of transportation limits the time Guests need to wait at bus stations.

As a Disney’s Yacht Club Resort Guest, you must use the Disney buses to access Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom Park, the Disney water parks, and Disney Springs. While EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are accessible by walking, Guests can also use the FriendShip Boats across Crescent Lake. Additionally, the Disney Skyliner is just a short walk away, providing easy access to Disney Resorts on the Skyliner route.

FriendShip Boats at Disney's Yacht Club

Meanwhile, Guests of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa have access to three Walt Disney World transportation modes. If you plan on staying at the Disney hotel, you can use the Disney buses to travel to and from Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney Springs, and the Disney water parks. The Disney Monorail is recommended to travel to and from EPCOT, although buses may be available throughout the day. To get to Magic Kingdom Park, you can travel one stop on the Disney Monorail, walk the path along the Seven Seas Lagoon, or catch a boat.

Disney Monorail, Magic Kingdom

Using all of the modes of Disney transport is part of the Disney experience in Lake Buena Vista. Therefore, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is the winner regarding transportation. We love the variety available to you as a Guest of the Disney Deluxe Resort.

Guest Rooms

As a Disney Deluxe Resort, Guest rooms in Disney’s Grand Floridian and Disney’s Yacht Club Resorts are spacious, with luxury elements, including a balcony.

The nautical theme of Disney’s Yacht Club carries through into each Guest room. Expect neutral and blue colors throughout the room, with artwork featuring boats and curtains featuring a constellation pattern. There are several views to choose from when staying in the Disney Resort, including a water view across Crescent Lake, a garden or woods view, and a standard view. Rooms with Club Level access are also available to book for your stay. You can enjoy access to the Regatta Club lounge, where beverages and snacks are available throughout the day.

Disney's Yacht Club Guest Rooms

Choosing to stay at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort offers you a variety of Guest rooms. Some of the Guest rooms offer a traditional and calming theme. Others have recently been refurbished and offer modern, stylish decor that pays homage to  Mary Poppins  (1964) and  Mary Poppins Returns  (2018). If you’re looking for a standard Guest room, they are located in one of the outer buildings of the Resort. You can choose from a lagoon, garden, or theme park view.

Guest rooms and suites are also available, with access to Club Level. Staying in the main building of the Disney hotel is more expensive but provides access to the Royal Palm Club. Magic Kingdom Park and courtyard views are available from the main building. If you choose to stay in Club Level in one of the outer buildings of the Disney Resort, you will have access to Sugarloaf Club.

The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian is part of the Disney Vacation Club. If you are looking for a little more space, with access to a kitchen, separate bedrooms, a living area, and more, you may consider staying at the Villas. The smaller rooms available are Studios, but there are also one- and two-bedroom villas and 3-bedroom grand villas available to stay in at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. You can choose from standard, lagoon, lake, and theme park view rooms.

Disneys Grand Floridian Guest Rooms

The variety of Guest rooms available at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa takes our preference over those at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. We also adore the interior of the newly refurbished rooms at the Grand Floridian.

Quick-Service Restaurants

The Market at Ale & Compass is the quick-service restaurant at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. The Disney restaurant is open throughout the day, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., serving various meals, snacks, and beverages. The Walt Disney World Resort hotel Guests also have easy access to the Beach Club Marketplace, the quick-service restaurant at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. Additionally, during the day, a selection of appetizers, entrees, and salads are served at Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar and Grill. The location of Disney’s Yacht Club provides easy access to the quick-service restaurants at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn and the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin Resorts, which are just a short walk away.

Disney's Yacht Club Quick-Service

Guests of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort can dine at Gasparilla Island Grill . Open from 6 a.m. through 12 a.m., breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late-night snacks are available. Additional quick-service locations are Beaches Pool Bar & Grill and Courtyard Pool Bar & Grill. Guests can order a selection of entrees, sides, and desserts from both locations throughout the day. In Disney’s Polynesian Village and Disney’s Contemporary Resorts , quick-service restaurants are also located nearby. You may enjoy a short walk to either Disney hotel. Alternatively, you can use the Disney Monorail to travel between the Resorts.

Gasparilla Island Grill, Disney's Grand Floridian

The quick-service options at Disney’s Yacht Club are great, and the easy access to other Disney Resorts makes it a strong contender. However, Disney’s Grand Floridian is the winner. Gasparilla Island Grill has some exceptional entrees that can be enjoyed from the tranquil marina. Capt. Cook’s at Disney’s Polynesian Village is also nearby, offering fantastic menu items.

Full-Service Restaurants

Both Disney Resort hotels have a selection of full-service restaurants to dine at.

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort has the following full-service restaurants:

  • Citrico’s – a fine dining experience in a whimsical restaurant inspired by  Mary Poppins Returns .

Citricos, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort

  • Narcoossee’s – a fine dining experience on the waterfront, serving fresh seafood.
  • Victoria & Albert’s – the most exquisite restaurant on Disney property. If you want to celebrate a special event in style, this is the place to dine.
  • Grand Floridian Cafe – enjoy Blunch or dinner in an elegant yet relaxed restaurant.
  • Enchanted Rose – sip on cocktails while eating unique appetizers in a lounge area inspired by  Beauty and the Beast (2017)

Meanwhile, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort has the following full-service restaurants available:

  • Ale & Compass – enjoy gastropub-inspired breakfast and dinner in a cozy setting.

Ale & Compass

  • Cape May Cafe – dine with Disney characters while enjoying a buffet breakfast. During the evening, the buffet serves up signature turf and seafood dishes.
  • Beaches & Cream Soda Shop – enjoy a 50’s-themed diner that serves up old-fashioned ice cream sundaes and hot food items.

Beaches & Cream Soda Shop, Disney's Yacht Club

  • Yachtsman Steakhouse – the New England-style steakhouse serves steak, seafood, and drinks in the signature restaurant.

Both Disney Resort hotels have easy access to other Resorts, providing access to additional Disney restaurants.

For fine dining, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is the best of the two Disney Resorts. However, we prefer Disney’s Yacht Club Resort for more affordable full-service dining.

You have two pool areas to enjoy when staying at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. The Courtyard Pool offers a calm and peaceful experience. Relax on a sun lounger, or dip in the zero-entry pool. Nearby there’s also a whirlpool spa to relax in. Alternatively, stop by the Beach Pool. Take a ride down the waterslide, chill out underneath the cascading waterfalls, and enjoy views of Seven Seas Lagoon. Your little ones can have fun in the nearby Mad Hatter aquatic play area.

Disney's Grand Floridian Pool Areas

If you plan on staying at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort , you can enjoy four pool areas. Three leisure pools are located around Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts. But the best pool area to enjoy is Stormalong Bay. Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts Guests have exclusive access to a three-acre water park. The sand-bottomed pool includes a lazy river, water slide, whirlpool spas, and more. You want to make sure to take advantage of this incredible pool area!

Stormalong Bay Disney's Yacht Club

Stormalong Bay is enough for Disney’s Yacht Club to take the crown in terms of the pool area. When staying at the Disney Resort, make plans to spend time there. You won’t be disappointed!

Overall Verdict

So where should you stay when deciding between Disney’s Yacht Club and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort? You are guaranteed a magical Disney vacation at whatever Resort hotel you choose. You may find that Disney’s Yacht Club may be slightly cheaper, depending on the time of year you will be visiting.

Based on our verdicts here, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is our choice of Disney Deluxe Resort. However, the cost or availability of rooms may encourage you to book Disney’s Yacht Club instead.

Transportation at Disney’s Riviera Resort (A Know-Your-Options Guide)

If you’re staying at Disney’s Riviera, you’re in for a treat when it comes to transportation, among other things. However, it’s no secret that having immediate access to the Skyliner is a game changer.

But where can you take the Skyliner, and what other forms of transportation are available at Disney’s Riviera? We’ll answer those questions and more in this transportation guide for Disney’s Riviera Resort.

We recommend reviewing this entire guide beforehand if you have an upcoming vacation planned. If you want, you can save it to your favorites for quick access during your visit. But if you’re already there, here are a few quick links to some of the main destinations at Walt Disney World.

  • How to Get from Disney’s Riviera Resort to Magic Kingdom
  • How to Get from Disney’s Riviera Resort to Epcot
  • How to Get from Disney’s Riviera Resort to Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • How to Get from Disney’s Riviera Resort to Disney’s Animal Kingdom
  • How to Get from Disney’s Riviera Resort to Disney Springs

Your worries about getting to and from Disney’s Riviera to other Disney World destinations will be over soon. You can shift your thoughts to more pleasant things, like what dessert you will order from Le Petit Cafe!

Disney's Riviera Resort

Disney’s Riviera Resort Transportation Options

The following forms of transportation are available at Disney’s Riviera.

  • Disney Skyliner
  • Disney Bus Service

You can also walk between Disney’s Riviera Resort and Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. However, there is no walking path from the Riviera to a theme park.

Disney’s Riviera Resort to Magic Kingdom

You’ll need to take a bus from Disney’s Riviera Resort to Magic Kingdom. The bus stop for Disney’s Riviera Resort is down a walkway outside the resort’s main entrance. When you exit the resort, you’ll see a covered pathway to the right that leads to the bus stop.

Disney’s Riviera Resort offers direct bus transportation to and from Magic Kingdom. So you won’t share a bus service to Magic Kingdom with another resort.

Wait times for the next bus are posted at the resort. We have found that the wait times are pretty accurate. They are transmitted to the sign via a signal from the bus’s location. So, if you notice a fluctuation, it’s probably because the bus stopped at a light or ran into traffic.

Disney Riviera Resort to Magic Kingdom

Disney’s Riviera Resort to Epcot

You’ll take the Skyliner from Disney’s Riviera to Epcot. Disney’s Riviera Resort has its own Skyliner Station, only a few steps from the back of the resort.

The Skyliner Station at Riviera has two sides. You’ll walk to the opposite side of the Skyliner from the resort when traveling to Epcot. You’ll want to pay attention to the signs and not wait in the wrong line , especially early in the morning.

I stress this because you would not want to see a line and automatically join it and then have to join another long line ten minutes later because you were waiting on the wrong side. It happened to us when the resort first opened.

Once you board a gondola from the Riviera, you’ll travel directly to Epcot. There are no additional stops between the Riviera and Epcot.

You’ll exit the Skyliner and enter the park at Epcot’s International Gateway when you arrive. You’ll return to Disney’s Riviera the same way.

Tip: If you stay at Epcot until the evening fireworks, we recommend taking your time before leaving. Many shops (not in the countries) stay open later than the park. The line for the Skyliner at the end of the night is usually daunting. So allow some time for the crowds to clear before exiting the park.

how to get from grand floridian to yacht club

What if the Skyliner goes down?

From time to time, the Skyliner goes down, mainly due to inclement weather. If this happens, bus transportation will be provided to Disney’s Riviera. You can still exit the park at Epcot’s International Gateway. A cast member, or at least a sign, will provide details on where to find a bus back to the resort.

We’ve had this happen multiple times during our stays at Disney’s Riviera Resort. We’ve always been directed to Disney’s Boardwalk Inn or Beach Club’s bus stop.

When this happens, the bus that picks guests up will run to all the Skyliner Resorts. One evening, we had to catch a bus at the Boardwalk, and then it went to Pop Century, Art of Animation, and Caribbean Beach before we were dropped off at the Riviera.

In hindsight, we should have taken a car service or taxi from the Boardwalk back to the Riviera, given the circumstances. But it was good to have the experience to share with you and to know what to do next time this happens. Of course, it wasn’t the end of the world, but what should have been a five-minute ride took close to an hour!

What happens when the Skyliner is down

Disney’s Riviera Resort to Hollywood Studios

You’ll take the Skyliner to Hollywood Studios from Disney’s Riviera Resort, except for one catch. You’ll first take the Skyliner from Disney’s Riviera to Disney’s Caribbean Beach, where you’ll have to exit. Then, you’ll get in line at Caribbean Beach for the direct Skyliner to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

When you get in line at Disney’s Riviera Resort, you’ll join the line under the covered walkway from the resort. It’s where the Tangled and Peter Pan murals are located.

When you exit at Caribbean Beach, you’ll have to join a separate line for Hollywood Studios. Don’t be surprised if you find a long line in the morning. This is common because guests of Caribbean Beach, Pop Century, Art of Animation, and the Riviera all travel from Caribbean Beach to Hollywood Studios.

Disney Skyliner entrance from Riviera to Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Riviera Resort to Animal Kingdom

You’ll take a bus from Disney’s Riviera Resort to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This is a direct resort-to-park route that won’t have any other stops. You’ll return to the resort the same way when you leave the park.

Disney's Riviera Resort to Animal Kingdom

Disney’s Riviera Resort to Disney Springs

You’ll take a bus from Disney’s Riviera Resort to Disney Springs. When you leave Disney Springs, you’ll want to locate the bus stop for the Riviera. As a reference point, there’s a walkway to the bus stops near the Coca-Cola Store and Wolfgang Pucks.

If you want to learn more about getting around Disney Springs, we have a guide with  Disney Springs transportation tips .

Walking Between Disney’s Riviera and Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resorts

While you cannot walk to a theme park from Disney’s Riviera, you can walk to Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort. We’ve mapped the walk between the Riviera and Old Port Royale, the central hub of Caribbean Beach. The distance between the resorts is 0.28 miles.

In the photo below (taken from a room in the Riviera), you can see the sidewalk that extends around the resort to Caribbean Beach. You’ll want to follow the path around the lake. If you want to walk for leisure, it’s approximately 1.5 miles roundtrip around the lake.

Accessibility at Disney’s Riviera Resort

Most transportation options at Disney’s Riviera Resort accommodate guests with accessibility needs. Disney provides an overview of each form of transportation on their website.

For the Skyliner: Mobility aids must fit within a 30″ x 48″ area for access. A separate line is available for guests with mobility aids. These gondolas will pause for guests and their families to load.

*Details for those with  mobility issues  (i.e., wheelchair, ECVs) can be found on Disney’s site.

Accessibility Disney's Riviera Transportation

Disney’s Riviera Resort to Disney’s Water Parks

Occasionally, Disney offers direct bus service to and from the resort to Blizzard Beach or Typhoon Lagoon. However, that is rare. When you reach the bus stop, the electronic sign will indicate which bus to take to which water park.

Usually, guests must take the bus to Disney Springs when traveling to Typhoon Lagoon. When you reach Disney Springs, you’ll exit that bus and board a transfer bus to Disney Springs. Someone will be in the area to direct you to the correct bus stop. It’s not far.

However, when you leave Typhoon Lagoon, you’ll have to walk further to find the resort bus stop at Disney Springs. So you’ll want to make sure to have a change of clothes for the return trip.

For Blizzard Beach, you’ll take a bus to Disney’s Animal Kingdom and then board a nearby transfer bus to Blizzard Beach. You’ll then return in the same manner.

Disney’s Riviera Resort to the Monorail Resorts

Additionally, most guests will want to visit the  monorail resorts  for dining or touring. You can take a bus from Disney’s Riviera Resort to Magic Kingdom to do this.

From there, you will have to walk through security at Magic Kingdom. Then you can walk, boat, or monorail to the following resorts:

  • Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa (walk, boat, monorail)
  • Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort (boat, monorail, technically can  walk via the Grand Floridian walkway to Magic Kingdom)
  • Disney’s Contemporary Resort (walk or monorail)

Alternatively, you can take the Skyliner to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and then take a bus to any of the above-mentioned resorts. Remember that complimentary transportation is subject to Disney’s hours of operation.

how to get from grand floridian to yacht club

Disney’s Riviera Resort to Disney’s Boardwalk

You can travel via the Skyliner to Disney’s Boardwalk or other Epcot Resorts. Epcot Resorts include Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, Disney’s Beach Club Resort, and Disney’s Swan and Dolphin.

The quickest way to get to these resorts is to take the Skyliner to Epcot’s International Gateway. Then, you can walk to any of these resorts or take a  Friendship Boat .

If you stay out late, you might have to order a car service (i.e., Lyft, Uber, Taxi, or Minnie Van) if the Skyliner is no longer running. Those would be pretty late hours to keep. But the Boardwalk does have a few places geared toward adults that are open relatively late.

Disney's Riviera Resort to the Epcot Resorts Area

Disney’s Riviera Resort to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge or Fort Wilderness

Additionally, you can take a bus to Magic Kingdom for Wilderness Lodge or Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Once you arrive at Magic Kingdom, take a bus or the red flag boat to either resort.

*During inclement weather, you must take a bus from Magic Kingdom to Wilderness Lodge or Fort Wilderness. Hopefully, you’ll get to take the boat, though. It’s a pleasant ride and part of the fun.

how to get from grand floridian to yacht club

Disney’s Riviera Resort to the Other Skyliner Resorts

While at Disney’s Riviera, you might also want to visit one of the other Skyliner Resorts. As we discussed, it’s much easier to walk to Caribbean Beach. However, you’ll need to take the Skyliner from Caribbean Beach to reach Art of Animation or Pop Century.

We love to take the Skyliner to Disney’s Art of Animation for a sunset walk around the resort. When you exit the Skyliner, you’ll take a right at the bridge and walk straight to Art of Animation. You can follow the path around the lake and tour The Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo, Lion King, and Cars section of the resort.

We have a  separate guide that details Disney’s Skyliner’s route  if you want to learn more.

* Remember these tips are subject to Disney’s transportation hours of operation.

Disney's Riviera Resort to Art of Animation

Disney’s Riviera Resort to Animal Kingdom Lodge

To visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, we usually take a bus from the Riviera to Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Then, we’ll take a bus from the Animal Kingdom to the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Note that the bus makes two stops at the Lodge. The first is Kidani Village, and the second is Jambo House. You’ll want to know which location is your intended destination.

You can also take the Skyliner to Hollywood Studios and take a bus to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Remember that complimentary transportation is subject to hours of operation.

Options for transportation at Disney's Riviera Resort

Disney’s Riviera to the Resorts Near Disney Springs

If you would like to visit one of the resorts near Disney Springs, you can take a bus from Riviera to Disney Springs. Then, you can walk to the Marketplace Boat Dock. You’ll have the following options:

  • Walk or take a water taxi from the Disney Springs Marketplace to Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa.
  • Take a water taxi from the Disney Springs Marketplace to Old Key West Resort, Port Orleans-French Quarter, or Port Orleans-Riverside.

If you do not want to walk across Disney Springs to the Marketplace and boat to these resorts, an alternative would be to take the Skyliner to Hollywood Studios (during hours of operation) and then take a bus to the desired resort.

Airport to Disney’s Riviera Resort

Lastly, when traveling from the Orlando International Airport (MCO), you’ll need to arrange transportation to the resort. Disney no longer offers transportation between the airport and the Walt Disney World Resort.

Tip: If you find yourself in need of travel outside of complimentary transportation hours, you can order a car service (i.e., Lyft, Uber, Taxi, or Minnie Van). We try to avoid the extra expense as much as possible. But if we had late dining reservations or comparable, we would take a car service.

Final Thoughts on Transportation at Disney’s Riviera Resort

Hopefully, this article gave you a few essential tips for getting to and from Disney’s Riviera Resort. When tackling transportation at the Disney Resort Hotels , things can feel overwhelming if you’re unprepared.

But if you have a good base knowledge of how things work, you’re already off to a good start! Those who plan can relax when they arrive.

Which Walt Disney World Hotel Is Closest to Each Theme Park?

Last Updated on April 30, 2020

Distances to the Theme Parks from Disney World Resorts. Which Walt Disney World Hotel Is Closest to Each Theme Park?

If you’ve booked one of Disney’s Resort Hotels, you’ve already taken a huge step towards convenience since all resort hotel guests can take Disney’s Magical Express shuttle from the Orlando International Airport.

Distances to the Theme Parks from Disney World Resorts

Getting straight to the resort hotel and back is a huge logistical benefit. This allows you to forgo the hassle of renting a car and driving on unfamiliar roads.

However, if you’re not sure which Disney hotel to book, there are other ways to rank convenience.

Additionally, this summer, Walt Disney World added a “Get Directions” option to the  My Disney Experience mobile app . Using this function, you can find step-by-step directions on foot, by bus, monorail and boat between destinations. This includes areas within the theme parks.

If you choose to stay at one of the “Epcot area” hotels located near  Disney’s BoardWalk , you’ll have 2 theme parks within walking distance (Epcot and Disney Hollywood Studios), plus you’ll be able to access the shopping, dining, and activities Disney’s BoardWalk has to offer.

The distances quoted below are from Google Maps and they show drive time to the Parks parking lot and may not be the end of your transportation journey to reach the front gates.

In summary, there are a handful of resorts that stand above the rest in terms of quality, amenities and location. We have listed the resorts that we would consider to be “close” to the Parks. We believe these should be your top considerations when planning on staying in a certain park for the majority of your stay.

Here are my questions/thoughts:

GF: Gorgeous, love the decor, love the idea of watching Wishes from the beach or our balcony. Love the idea of having the monorail

Concerns: Seems that we will be a far bus ride from all other parks (except can get to Epcot on monorail) but don't want miserable bus rides to AK & MGM Question: Do all of the rooms have balconies? Are there hot-tubs at the pools?

YC: Have heard great things about SAB, like the idea of walking to Epoct & Boardwalk, easy access for not having to get on busses again once we return to parks because we can walk places for dinner. Love the them as well

Concerns: Know that MK is the 1 park we'll do 2 touring days at, know that we'll do a Wishes/Spectro night, so, hate the idea of having to deal w/bus service to MK vs. monorail.

So, all in all, we loved POR but wanted things to be more convenient and less sprawling than the moderates, less secluded.

So, now I have to decide btwn. the convenience of the monorail and easy access to MK and other deluxes on the monorail for dinner vs. the convenience to MGM & Epcot and dinner options in WS & Boardwalk, with SAB thrown in.

They both seem VERY appealing, so, I'm hoping I can get some perspective that might help me decide. Just a note, defn. don't want to do switch resorts in the middle of the stay to do both. Hate packing too much! :-)

' class=

Two great choices to have to decide from, for sure. I can see why your decision is so tough.

I don't think all the rooms at the G.F. have balconies, as I seem to remember rooms in the buildings near the pool area not having them.

Just from all you've written, I think for your situation, I'd have to vote for the Floridian due to the advantages you wrote (particularly access to M.K. and monorail), unless being near the Boardwalk is a very high priority.

I agree that the SAB pool is a huge plus for the Y.C., however.

Hmmm, wonder where I can confirm the balcony thing for GF, because that is a big factor for us. My husband and I found that we really wished we had had a balcony we could sit out on and have some drinks/hang out after our daughter went to bed.

Also, just looked, GF will be ~$500 more than YC. Everyone agree this is worth it?

how to get from grand floridian to yacht club

I concur, haven;'t stayed at either but when we were last there we made a point of checking out all the deluxe's for our next trip. I'd definately say the YC (or maybe even the Beach Club!). The ppol there is spectacular and worth the slight extra time to MK.

For me the location, convenience and beauty of the Epcot Resorts cannot be beaten... It is absolutely stunning. They are convenient for Epcot, MGM, mini-golf and LOADS of restaurants (at the Yacht/Beach Club, at Epcot, at the Boardwalk and at the Swan/Dolphin). And Storm Along Bay is a great pool area. The whole area has a real buzz about it too - both day and night (I imagine that the GF is a lot quieter and more secluded).

Am sure that the GF is fab too, but my personal choice would be the Yacht/Beach Club (if budget is an issue, then the Swan/Dolphin are very nice and very good value for money).

But it is very much personal opinion - different people like different things... :-)

how to get from grand floridian to yacht club

I've only stayed at YC but I went at the end of June and I had no problems with buses after the shows late at night.

I loved the YC. On the YC side there are no kids, so it's very civilized. You just walk over to the Beach Club for the kid stuff.

After reading this article, you’ll know exactly what to ask for and how to ask for your Disney World resort room requests!

Understanding The Difference Between Disney Booking Categories And Disney Room Requests

The main difference between a booking category and a request is that a booing category is guaranteed, but a request is not. For example, if you select a room within the booking category of “lake view,” you can be 100% sure that you’ll get a room with a lake view. This specific room view reservation will cost more than a “standard view” booking category room.

An alternative, you can book a “standard view” room at a lower price and then request a room with a better view. However, unlike the booking category option, simply requesting a better room will not guarantee that you will get a better room. It’ll just let the Disney cast members know that, if possible, you would like a room with a better view.

Which Disney Room Views Are The Best?

There are many room views to choose from at each Disney World Resort, and the options vary by resort. For example, the breathtaking savanna view rooms at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge are only available at that resort. That said, there are a few room view options that you should requests if they are available at your resort, including lake view, theme park view, and pool view. Another room option to request is a preferred room, as these rooms often come with fantastic views and short walks to all of the Disney Resort’s amenities.

Prioritize Your Disney World Resort Room Requests

You’ll want to prioritize just two to three Disney World Resort room requests. If there are too many requests, they may be impossible to manage. As a matter of fact, even if you only have two Disney World resort room requests, be sure to prioritize which one you want more! For example, say you request a room with a view and one on a high floor, but the Disney World Resort does not have a room with both. If you specify which of these two requests you prefer, you’ll likely get the one you prefer if it is available.

There are quite a few things to consider when making room requests at Disney, such as the following questions:

  • Where is the room located in comparison to the dining and buses?
  • Is the room on the ground floor or on a higher floor?
  • Would you prefer a room on the ground floor for stroller or wheelchair access?
  • Would you like a specific view?
  • Would you prefer a room near the elevators?

Just as a reminder, if you book a room with the view that you want, there is no need to request that view as well! It’s already guaranteed. Instead, you can use your request to ask for a room on a higher or lower floor, depending on your family’s preference.

Lastly, know that every guest and EVERY Disney resort can request the following items:

  • Handicap-Accessible Room
  • Connecting Rooms (limited availability)
  • Microwaves (limited availability)

Exactly How To Make A Disney World Room Request

There are quite a few ways to make your Disney World Resort room requests.

  • Online through My Disney Experience up to 60 days in advance
  • Call in your requests
  • Fax over your requests

Making Room Requests Online

To make Disney World resort room requests online, you’ll have to do it through My Disney Experience . Your first step is to sign in to your My Disney Experience account. If you don’t already have one, then you’ll need to create an account, which is a pretty straightforward process.

Then, once you’re logged in, you’ll click on the My Disney Experience button in the top right corner. From the drop-down list, select “My Reservations and Tickets.” This will redirect you to your Walt Disney World resort reservation. If it does not appear, you’ll simply link your reservation using the “Link Resort Reservation” button. Then, once you can see your reservation, you’ll click the blue button that says “Update Check-In.”

This will redirect you to a page with a few details that you can add to your vacation before checking in. Instead of focusing on those, you’ll want to shift your attention to the right side of the screen where it says, “show details.” Click on that.

Then, all of the boxes with the aforementioned details will expand, allowing you to make changes. About halfway down, one of the details says, “Room Location Requests.” This is where you can request your room to be on a high or low floor, in a specific tower, with a specific view, or near specific amenities. You are limited to two of these types of Disney room requests. There is also a box to check if you would like your room to be ready before the usual 4 p.m. check-in time.

To finish making your requests, check the “I Agree” box at the bottom of the page.

After a few minutes, you’ll automatically return back to the My Reservations page, where it’ll now say, “You’re All Set.” That said, you’ll still be able to make changes if you would like by following this same process.

Making Room Requests on the Phone

To make your room requests over the phone, you’ll want to call 407-W-DISNEY (407-934-7639). This is one way to make requests that are not listed as options on My Disney Experience. You can call ahead and ask for your requests within five days of your arrival.

Do know that many guests have had difficulties making their reservations over the phone and have often been redirected several times. If that does happen to you, consider making your room requests either through My Disney Experience or over fax.

Faxing Room Requests to Disney

Surprisingly, Disney guests have had a lot of success faxing their room requests over to their Disney resorts – sometimes even more success that requests made over the phone! Since you likely don’t have a fax machine at your disposal, Disney makes it easy for you to “fax” your requests to them without actually having a fax machine.

First, create your “fax” on a Word Document. Instead of thinking about it as a fax, it may be easier to think about it as a letter or an email. Be sure to include the name of the resort you are sending it to, the resort’s fax number, your name, your cell phone number and email address, and a subject (e.g. “room request”) before getting to your requests. When writing your requests, try to keep them brief, yet friendly!

From there, all you have to do to “fax” your Disney World room requests is upload it to faxzero.com ! This website will send your requests off to Disney for you. Try to send your requests five to seven days before the start of your stay.

While the vast majority of the Disney World resorts do take requests by fax, the following hotels do NOT take fax requests: Disney’s Beach Club Villas, Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, Disney’s Boardwalk Villas, Disney’s Old Key West Resort, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and the Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.

To get exactly the room you want at Disney’s Beach Club Resort, there are a few tips that you can put to use. First, because Stormalong Bay is the best and most popular pool on the Walt Disney World Resort property, many of the rooms with a water view can be quite noisy! If you’re looking for a bit of quiet, consider requesting a garden or woods view room instead.

Another tip for a fantastic stay at this Walt Disney World Resort is to request a full balcony. Approximately half of the rooms at Disney’s Beach Club Resorts have extremely small balconies, while the other half have full-sizes ones. If this is important to you, be sure to request a full balcony!

Now it’s time for Disney’s Boardwalk Inn and Villas tips! First, because Disney’s Boardwalk Inn and Villas is very close to Epcot, request a room on the highest floor possible to have a chance of seeing IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth, the Epcot night show. Second, since Disney’s Boardwalk is quite large, it would be wise to request a room closer to the elevator, or else you may find yourself walking quite a distance to get to your room.

As a tip, know that there is quite a limited number of standard view rooms, so there’s a good chance that, even if you book a standard view room, you’ll be upgraded to a savanna room. However, if a savanna room is a must for you and your family, it may be wiser to simply book a savanna room. This is by far one of the coolest Disney World resort room requests.

Another important thing to note about the savanna rooms is that each savanna showcases different animals. While giraffes can be found on all three savannas, zebras live only on the Arusha Savanna, ostriches live only on the Sunset Savanna, and kudu live only on the Uzima Savanna. In other words, if there is a specific animal that you want to see, request a room with a view of a specific savanna.

Lastly, know that the ground floor rooms at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge & Villas do not have balconies. If that is a feature that you would like, request a room on a higher floor.

While some opt to request rooms near the elevator (as only buildings 62, 63, and 64 have elevators), others choose to use their requests to request a room with a dual entrance bathroom (rather than a room where you can only access the bathroom through the master bedroom).

Disney Club Level Concierge Services

Disney Club Level Concierge Services

Benefits of Club Level        Food       Resort Specific Offerings

Disney Club Level Concierge services at any hotel offer additional services and access to a knowledgeable and attentive staff. Concierge services at Disney resorts are no exception. Rooms with access to concierge services come at a cost, but it is a luxury with benefits. Concierge level rooms are offered at all the Disney Deluxe resorts . Disney typically refers to these rooms as “club level” rooms to avoid confusion since there is a lobby concierge desk at each Disney resort. Coronado Springs also offers a business class that has some similarities to club level as well.

The Benefits of Disney Concierge Services

Guests who will be staying in Disney Club Level Concierge rooms have access to the concierge staff to assist with planning before their arrival. The concierge Itinerary Planning Office can help to secure dinner show tickets, arrange dining, and will assist with recreation reservations. They can also help with any other pre-arrival arrangements you may want to make. Be sure to mention if you are celebrating a special event—the concierge staff can be full of suggestions and surprises. The staff is also available once guests arrive and can sometimes help obtain even difficult Advanced Dining Reservations on short notice. Guests complete a Personal Itinerary Planner form after booking and return it to the Itinerary Planning Office to assist in making appropriate reservations.

Disney Club Level Concierge rooms usually offer additional amenities including robes to use during your stay, additional toiletries, turn down services, USA Today newspaper, and more. A refrigerator or coffee maker with coffee and tea assortment are available in each room. Concierge guests are also offered a separate check-in area or procedure-usually at or near the lounge.

One of the largest benefits of staying in a concierge or club level room is secured key card access to the resort’s concierge lounge. The lounge will have a variety of food and drink offerings throughout the day. The offerings and times vary according to the resort, but a brief overview is provided below. Most of the lounges are also a very comfortable spot to relax and include tables with chairs, comfortable couches and chairs, and a large screen TV with DVD.

Food Offerings

The general Disney Club Level Concierge schedule below is followed by most of the concierge lounges at Disney. Times are approximates and vary according to resort. Of course this schedule is always subject to change and offerings can vary. Check with the concierge staff for a more details and accurate listing.

  • 6:30 a.m. – Coffee is available
  • 7:00 – 10:30 a.m. Continental Breakfast with juice, coffee, tea, cereals, fruit, breakfast pastries and breads
  • 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Snacks and/or tea with sodas, iced tea, lemonade, coffee, tea, and snack foods like crackers, pretzels, cookies and nuts.
  • 5:00 – 7:00p.m. Hot appetizers, children’s corner, cruidites, cheese tray, beverages, wine and beer.
  • 8:00 – 10:00 p.m. Desserts and cordials with a selection of cordials and desserts from the resort’s restaurants.
  • All Day (7:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.) Whole fresh fruit and beverages

Resort Specific Club Level Information

There is an extra charge for both of these tours, but they are both very unique and exciting experiences. The Sunrise Safari offers guests a unique and private safari and breakfast at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge . While the Wanyama safari gives guests a unique tour of the savannas at the Animal Kingdom Lodge as well as dinner at Jiko , a signature restaurant at the Lodge.

The Yacht Club offers 67 club level rooms and 22 club level suites The Beach Club’s Stone Harbor Club and the Yacht Club’s Regatta Club Lounges are located on the 5th floor of the resorts. Also worthwhile to note the rooms at the Beach Club do not all have balconies, if this is something that is important to you remember to request this when making your reservation.

Boardwalk Inn

The Boardwalk Inn offers 37 club level rooms and 20 club level suites. Known as the Innkeepers Club, the concierge rooms and lounge are located on the fourth floor of the Boardwalk Inn . Concierge rooms are also located on the fourth floor. The lounge has a nice balcony, and is a very comfortable and inviting room. There have been many star sightings in this lounge – probably due to the really nice suites located on the concierge floors.

Contemporary

The Contemporary Resort offers a total of 53 club level rooms and 27 club level suites. The Contemporary has two concierge lounges with two different names – the Atrium Club Concierge and the Tower Club Concierge. The Atrium Club concierge lounge and rooms are located on the 12th floor of the resort. Rooms have a view of Bay Lake or the Magic Kingdom. The lounge on the 12th floor also has three balconies that have a view of the Magic Kingdom and the fireworks. The Tower Club concierge is located on the 14th floor and rooms can have a view of Bay Lake or the Magic Kingdom. Both lounges serve the same foods and have the same service and the 12th and the 14th floor of the resorts are only accessible to guests staying on that floor.

Coronado Springs

Coronado Springs offers Business Club level rooms with access to a new concierge lounge called Coconino Cove. The rooms are located in the Cabanas building 9B of the resort. Business Club Level services include personalized Front Desk and Guest Services and turndown service. Other amenities for guests with access to Coconino Cove include:Use of in-lounge iMac and PC stations, computer gaming consoles and flat screen televisions

  • Electronic device charging stations & boarding pass printing
  • Areas suitable for small groups to gather and meet in a relaxed setting
  • Assistance with dining reservations, ticket information and other special requests
  • Food & beverage offerings throughout the day.

The business lounge is not staffed at Coronado Springs. The concierge lounge features continental breakfast, midday snacks and evening wine (additional fee) and cheese. Coconino Cove is open daily from 7:00 a.m. – 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Grand Floridian

The Grand Floridian offers 156 club level rooms and 25 club level suites. The Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has concierge rooms located in the main lodge building and the Sugar Loaf building. Sugar Loaf club level rooms are located in the Sugar Loaf Key building, and can have views of a courtyard, garden, pool, or the Seven Seas Lagoon. The concierge lounge is located on the first floor of the Sugar Loaf building. Royal Palm club level rooms are located in main building and the lounge is on the fourth floor of the building. The lounge overlooks the lobby area of the Grand Floridian and you can hear the piano player as well as the band in the evening. One thing to note about the Grand Floridian concierge rooms is that there are many different room configurations, views and also many different prices. For an additional fee, Grand Floridian club level guests can request a private pantry (a stocked mini-bar.)

Polynesian Village

The Polynesian Village offers 102 club level rooms and six club level suites. Concierge rooms are located in the Hawaii longhouse and suites are located in the Tonga longhouse. There are two types of room ‘views’ in the Hawaii building water view and garden view. If you splurge and get a water view room at the Polynesian Village , you will have a wonderful view of the castle. The lounge is also located in the Hawaii building. It is a wonderful-two floor area with walls of windows so you can enjoy the wonderful view looking over the lake toward the Castle. The lounge is an excellent spot to view the MK fireworks, especially with the dessert and drinks that are typically available at that time. There is a second Club Level lounge in the Tonga building that is available from 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. only. Since it closes earlier, evening food items are not available.

Wilderness Lodge

The Wilderness Lodge offers 67 club level rooms and eleven club level suites. Concierge rooms at the Wilderness Lodge have access to the Old Faithful Club concierge lounge. Disney Club Level Conciergerooms and the lounge are located on the 7th floor of the Wilderness Lodge . The lounge area overlooks the lobby-one of the nicest lobbies in all of Walt Disney World. If you enter the lobby and look up to the top of the resort, you may catch a view of the lounge area. Rooms can have a view of the courtyard, woods, or other areas of the resort.

People often ask if Disney Club Level Concierge is ‘worth’ the extra cost.  Concierge services are designed as an extra level of service. They were never designed as a money saving alternative. Although the food and snacks are nice, with the exception of the continental breakfast, they were not designed to replace an entire meal. The biggest draw is the convenience and the extra services. It is hard to put a price on convenience, and even more difficult to put a price on the extra care, services,  and attention provided by the concierge cast members. Guests often stay at the concierge level when looking for extra relaxation, or extra pampering, or just that extra something special. It is also a great place to celebrate a special occasion like a birthday or anniversary .

This experience allows guests to visit multiple Disney resorts in a single day, taking advantage of the free transportation options Disney offers, such as buses, boats, and the monorail.

What to Do When Resort Hopping

When resort hopping at Disney, you can immerse yourself in the splendor of each destination. Begin with a leisurely exploration of the lobbies, gift shops, and common areas. Some of the game rooms are epic!

Don’t miss the chance to dine at various resort-specific restaurants and be sure to schedule time for live entertainment, such as outdoor movies, campfires, and musical performances, available at select resorts.

Each resort offers its own magic, so take your time to discover the unique experiences that await beyond the parks.

What You Can’t Do When Resort Hopping

When resort hopping at Disney, it’s important to note the limitations to ensure a seamless experience.

Access to swimming pools and pool areas is exclusively reserved for guests staying at that specific resort, a policy strictly enforced to ensure the comfort and safety of its guests.

Similarly, parking at the resorts is intended for registered guests and those with confirmed dining reservations, so plan to use Disney’s free transportation options to move between resorts.

While resort hopping, you cannot participate in certain activities designed exclusively for staying guests, such as resort-specific fitness classes or certain recreational offerings.

It’s also crucial to respect the privacy and experience of staying guests by adhering to resort rules and etiquette during your visit.

Understanding these boundaries will help maximize your enjoyment of the accessible amenities and experiences while resort hopping.

Epcot Area Hotels

The Epcot area hotels offer an immersive experience that extends the magic beyond the parks. These resorts are known for their stunning themes, from the elegance of a seaside resort at the Yacht and Beach Club to the carnival sights and sounds of the BoardWalk Inn.

We particularly enjoyed exploring the various boutiques and eateries along the way, where the atmosphere is lively and the views of Crescent Lake add to the charm.

The Boardwalk makes it easy to hop between several resorts at once, plus you’re right behind Epcot so it’s got the Disney park feel.

Don’t miss the chance to rent a Surrey bike for a fun ride around Crescent Lake!

Boardwalk Inn

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn captures the essence of a 1940s Atlantic coastal village with its charming waterfront and vibrant nightlife.

Grand Floridian vs. Beach Club Disney World Resort Guide for 2023

By Lisa Gilmore 1 Comment

So, you’re planning a trip to Disney World, and you’ve narrowed it down between two of the most ICONIC Disney resorts in existence (you lucky, lucky person!).

how to get from grand floridian to yacht club

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

But how do you choose between Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa ? Well, let’s dive into the deets to see which one is right for you!

Choosing between the Beach Club and the Grand Floridian, is like choosing a favorite child, a favorite Disney cupcake , or between a Dole Whip or a Mickey Pretzel — there’s enough love to go around! But just like cupcakes and classic Disney snacks (and maybe your kids, too… only you know your family dynamic…😂), there’s a certain flavor that might just hit the spot for what you’re looking for.

There’s no doubt that Disney vacations are expensive , and no one wants buyer’s remorse when it comes to what can usually be the most EXPENSIVE part of your Disney trip . We’re approaching this chaos-agent of a decision with as much logic as possible, so we’re breaking it down into five categories:

Common Ground

Theme/rooms, transportation.

We’re putting each resort through these paces to see where they stand and which one may be speaking to you for your Disney trip.

Before we start down the rabbit hole into the Wonderland of their differences, let’s review the similarities of these resorts. These resorts are both Disney Deluxe Resorts , so they will be at a similar price point, with similar room sizes, and the same perks . They both have close proximity to the Disney Parks, and even within walking distance! And both offer Disney Vacation Club Villas as additional accommodations.

how to get from grand floridian to yacht club

Beach Club Walkway

For the Beach Club , that means that for the  cheapest  room at the  cheapest  time to visit, you can expect to pay around  $534 per night  (not accounting for any tax or current discounts), and it goes up to  $4,763 per night  (not accounting for any tax or current discounts) for the  most expensive  rooms at the  most expensive  time to visit.

For the Grand Floridian , that means that for the cheapest room at the  cheapest time to visit, you can expect to pay around $780 per night (not accounting for any tax or current discounts), and it goes up to $5,502 per night (not accounting for any tax or current discounts) for the most expensive rooms at the  most expensive time to visit.

Extra Theme Park Hours Benefits for Disney World Resort Hotel Guests

Just like our ol’  Friend, Chandler Bing, would say, “Could these resorts BE any more different?” Both the Yacht Club and the Grand Flo are Deluxe resorts and offer the poshest of Disney’s accommodations and perks, but that doesn’t mean they look the same!

Not to be confused with its up-tight and snooty sister resort, the Yacht Club , the Beach Club is where you can relax, let your hair down, and wander through the lobby in bare feet with your bucket of collected seashells.

how to get from grand floridian to yacht club

Take a deep breath in…

The Beach Club steers clear of those bold nautical colors and embraces pastels and the soft tones of the beach at sunset.

how to get from grand floridian to yacht club

Though we wouldn’t mind some more Disney touches, these rooms are soft, cozy, and embrace the beach cottage vibe of New England. Luckily, Disney heard our concerns and is planning to update and retheme the rooms to include some magical Disney references.

Beds at Beach Club

Until then, though, the Beach Club’s last renovatation and updated was back in 2016, for a more sophisticated appearance with simple features and softer coloring.  These rooms don’t have the personality that you can find at the Contemporary and Polynesian . So, if you’re looking for a room with some “character,” the Beach Club may not be your jam.

Room CHANGES Announced for Beach Club Resort in Disney World

Grand floridian.

Cross the threshold of Disney World’s flagship resort into the Victorian age of high tea, dressing for dinner, and gloved-hands with pinkies-out. The lobby and restaurants are grandiose and luxurious, almost to the point of making guests reflect on imposter syndrome rather than a welcoming presence. The meticulous grounds and pristine white buildings with their brilliant red-tiled roofs definitely provide that grand allure you’d expect from a flagship resort.

how to get from grand floridian to yacht club

The Grand Floridian Lobby

And the lobby delivers on that jaw-dropping “oh wow” moment ( especially around the holidays ), but it seems like Disney blew the budget on the common areas, and then tightened the purse strings on the room sitch. There are some very nice, and perfectly adequate furnishings, but the rooms themselves just don’t scream lavish.

how to get from grand floridian to yacht club

Grand Floridian Resort Room

The Grand Floridian standard rooms haven’t seen the TLC that the Contemporary and Polynesian rooms have. So, there’s hope out there that the Grand Floridian rooms will be up soon for the next room renovation, but in the meantime, the Grand Floridian rooms don’t quite deliver for the price tag assigned to them.

This could boil down to your preference. Are you looking for a luxurious resort that feels glamorous and Victorian? Or would you prefer to feel like you’re spending the summer in an Atlantic beach town, and getting ready to head to a clam bake? Both resorts deliver beautifully on their themes, but when it comes down to rooms, the Beacb Club may have the edge — especially when the updates to the rooms there are complete.

NEW Minnie Ears Are Themed After a Bougie Disney World Hotel

Pools, splash pads, hot tubs, and lounge chairs, vacation just doesn’t feel completed without spending some time by the pool. Which of these resorts is the aquatic champion of water lounging? Only one way to find out…

The Beach Club may be understated when it comes to its lobby and resort rooms, but it is not to be outdone in the pool category. Disney’s Beach Club shares a pool complex with its neighboring resort, the Yacht Club, Stormalong Bay.

how to get from grand floridian to yacht club

Stormalong Bay

Stormalong Bay is a destination on all its own. This pool complex is almost like its own mini-water park, with sand at the bottom and even a lazy river! So, your kiddos can take advantage of the ‘shipwrecked’ themed water slide, while you leisurely float around the lazy river, so just relax on of the many lounge chairs.

how to get from grand floridian to yacht club

Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Beach Club

Stormalong Bay is also nestled in close to Beaches and Cream , an iconic ice cream shop, providing over-the-top milkshakes, sundaes, and comfort junk food essentials like burgers and grilled cheese sandwiches.

The Grand Floridian is not to be outdone in the pool category; it hosts two pools as well: the Beach Pool and the Courtyard Pool. And though both pools are pretty, the most memorable experience might be at the Mad Hatter splash pad.

how to get from grand floridian to yacht club

Alice’s Splash Zone

And because it’s the Grand Floridian and sophisticated luxury is this resort’s brand, there are plenty of poolside lounge chairs and cabanas available to rent for the day as you relax by the pool and nosh on some peeled-grapes and sip on some sweet tea, like we’re sure Victorian-age vacationers did back in the day.

how to get from grand floridian to yacht club

Relaxation — Grand Flo style!

There’s no real loser in this category if you’ve found relaxation and joy, but our heart leans towards the Beach Club, because that pool is just epic!

10 Hidden Secrets About Disney World Pools

Because we are Disney FOOD Blog, we take food seriously. Very. Seriously. And we love it all. We love the cheap, comfort of plastic cheese , and we love the high-brow sophistication of a wine flight or a multi-course pre-fixe meal . We don’t discriminate; we are a lover of all foods. Since food is SO important, let’s see who these resorts stack up against each other in the restaurant category.

Hurricane Hanna’s is a pool bar, tucked under the Stormalong Bay waterslide that provides fixes for your hunger without having to wander too far from the pool.

The Beach Club is home to one lounge, one quick-service market, a table service option, and a Character dining restaurant. Not to mention its close proximity to Yacht Club and all of those dining options.

Beaches and Cream

The  Beach Club Marketplace  is the quick service location and gift shop at  Disney’s Beach Club Resort . Once you make your way through the gift shop you’ll find yourself in the quick service dining area, complete with a sandwich counter. Guests will find basic staples for  breakfast, lunch, and dinner  in addition to a dry goods section (think boxes of cereal, peanut butter, and other essentials you might need). This is also the location for filling your  Refillable Resort Mugs .

Hot breakfast choices include a breakfast platter, pastries, and oatmeal. Lunch and dinner options include sandwiches, salads, and some truly tasty baked mac and cheese dishes. Oodles of tempting sweet treats are often found in the refrigerated cases, so keep an eye out for specialty cupcakes and more!

Beach Club Marketplace

Ah,  Beaches & Cream Soda Shop … THIS is the place to go for  classic diner eats  and  GIGANTIC ice cream sundaes in Walt Disney World! Tucked between the  Yacht Club and Beach Club Resorts , this authentic soda counter restaurant is decked out in pastels and is complete with a jukebox! Though the sundaes and shakes here are sizable no matter which sweet treat you order, Beaches & Cream is especially well known as being  home to the famous  Kitchen Sink : an eight-scoop ice cream sundae (made for sharing with the whole group) served up with EVERY TOPPING in the house! Beaches and Cream underwent a renovation  to expand the dining space and reopened in late 2019, so this formerly small spot can accommodate many more guests these days. And you can always grab some ice cream (or hard shakes & floats for adults) at the  Beaches & Cream To Go Window , too!

No Way Jose at Beaches and Cream

Cape May Cafe  is located at  Disney’s Beach Club Resort , just inside the lobby! Cape May Cafe currently features an all-you-care-to-enjoy breakfast buffet with Disney pals!  Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast  is one of the best places to see some of the most beloved Disney characters outside of the parks. Though characters may vary,  Minnie, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy  can often be found at Cape May Cafe, all dressed up for a day at the beach!

Though Disney characters are not present during  Dinner , the evening meal serves up something unique, as all-you-can-eat  surf-and-turf  gets the spotlight, with plenty for landlubbers and seafood fans to enjoy!

Minnie’s Beach Bash Breakfast

Located directly next to  Cape May Cafe  near the lobby of the Beach Club Resort,  Martha’s Vineyard Lounge is a relaxing spot to get a bite and a drink in the evening hours. Specialty cocktails, craft drafts, wines, and a full bar menu are available. And, like Cape May Cafe, the cuisine (a small selection of appetizers) is inspired by a Northeastern clambake, with comforting seafood favorites like clam chowder served alongside a few pub classics like chicken wings.

Martha’s Vineyard

Sometimes, Martha’s Vineyard Lounge will also host drawing or painting activities, so be on the lookout for those.

Grand Floridian is home to two Signature dining restaurants, Citricos and Narcoossee’s.   Citricos is an  upscale restaurant serving American dishes with Mediterranean influences . Reserve the  Chef’s Domain for a private table and specially prepared menu. Narcoossee’s , another Signature Dining restaurant, specializes in  seafood . This beautiful, Victorian-inspired building sits ashore on the Seven Seas Lagoon, offering dramatic views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks.

Garden View Tea Room hasn’t yet reopened, but when it does, it offers  Afternoon Tea with delicious finger sandwiches, pastries, cheese, and fruit. The beautiful view, elegant atmosphere, and fine china make this an exquisite experience.

Gasparilla Island Grill   is a  counter service restaurant  with a standard food court menu, and it is open for guests 24-hours a day. Dine outdoors overlooking the Marina (with a view of Cinderella Castle) when the weather permits.

The more casual Table Service options at the Grand Floridian are 1900 Park Fare and Grand Floridian Cafe . 1900 Park Fare, when it reopens, provides popular character dining experiences! At breakfast, guests are entertained by Mary Poppins and friends while the young and young-at-heart feast on Mickey waffles. Dinner is a more stately affair hosted by Cinderella and Prince Charming. Grand Floridian Cafe  serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner  in an  airy, casual setting . You’ll find American fare being served at your table overlooking the hotel’s elegant courtyard.

It’s so hard to designate a clear winner for food — because we love it all! If you’re in the market for fine dining, then the Grand Floridian is for you with Citricos, Narcoossee’s (when it reopens), and the poshest of posh at Victoria & Albert’s.

Do these deluxe resorts offer anything different when it comes to transportation? Let’s see!!

The Beach Club is considered an “EPCOT-area” resort. It sits on Crescent Lake, next to Yacht Club Resort, and across the lake from Disney’s BoardWalk Inn.  This resort is situated in between TWO Disney parks, EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. Yep, that’s right, you can walk or enjoy a relaxing boat ride on a Friendship Cruise boat to both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios.

Enjoy a Friendship Boat ride!

If Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, or Disney Springs is your destination, then you can board one of Disney’s buses to transport you over to these parks.

Disney World Bus Transportation

And as if walkways, boats, and busses weren’t enough options for you, Beach Club guests are also within walking distance of the EPCOT Skyliner station. This means you have easy access to the other Skyliner resorts if you want to go exploring other resorts or just have a relaxing cruise through the sky.

Walt Disney World Skyliner

The Grand Floridian is also on the Monorail loop . It’s the second stop after the Polynesian on the way to the Magic Kingdom. If Magic Kingdom is your destination, there is also a boat option to sail across Seven Seas Lagoon to the front steps of the Magic Kingdom. You can also get your steps in by strolling the walkway over to Magic Kingdom. Though this resort is closer to the Magic Kingdom than the Polynesian, that walk is still about 15-20 minutes.

Grand Floridian and Monorail

If Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, or Disney Springs is your destination, then you can board one of Disney’s busses to transport you over to these parks.

how to get from grand floridian to yacht club

If EPCOT is your park for the day, the easiest option is to board a Disney bus and head over. If you want to take the Monorail, you  can but you’d have to walk through the Polynesian resort, over to the Transportation & Ticketing Center to catch that Monorail, resulting in a 15-20 minute walk, and that doesn’t include waiting for the monorail. Or you can hop on the Monorail at the Grand Floridian and ride it past Magic Kingdom, past the Contemporary, and then transfer to the EPCOT Loop Monorail once you get to the Transportation and Ticketing Center, but that does add more time and complication to your already busy morning.

These deluxe resorts are pretty much a tie when it comes to transportation. They both have pretty quick access to TWO Disney parks, and have the options of busses, boats, and even direct walkways to help you get around.

The Grand Floridian is right on the Monorail loop, and the Beach Club gives you access to the Skyliner, so they both have some unique offerings as well. It might just boil down to which parks do you plan to spend more time in, Hollywood Studios or Magic Kingdom?

Why You Should Skip the Monorail on Your Next Magic Kingdom Trip

The winner.

So, who is the ultimate winner in the Beach Club vs. Grand Floridian battle? We hate to say it, but it depends ! The Grand Floridian may seem like a clear choice because of its grand luxury, popularity with Disney fans, and promity to Magic Kingdom. If the Beach Club seemed like the clear choice to you, it is a great hotel, it has an awesome pool and is just a quick walk from EPCOT’s World Showcase. It’s up to you and your group to decide what makes the most sense for you using all that we talked about above.

Love your comparison but I have to say The Beach Club has been our family favorite since it first opened and have stayed there more times than I can count. However, under new management several times we have had terrible experiences the past few times staying there. Check in was a total nightmare the past 2 times as recently as last July 3. The pool experience is a nightmare. Pool opens 9:00 or 10:00 AM in the summertime? And guests start lining up to get in at 7:30 AM?!! Therefore if you get in line 30 minutes before opens no chairs left not to mention no umbrellas/ tables, shade. The rooms are mediocre at best – they used to be such fun- and The Beach Club Villas are just plain ugly- stark- too modern not much of a beach theme- ugly ceiling lights replaced ceiling fans. The Breezeway room is very charming though. Beaches and Cream is very hard to get in to and not nearly as much fun as it used to be. The DVC Villas at The Grand Floridian are beautiful and bathroom layout is very nice. Both resorts are good locations.
