Best $20 I've spent on a show in years!! The band was absolutely phenomenal!! The closest I could ever get to seeing Led Zeppelin and The Who! The newly renovated Variety Playhouse is now perfection, there isn't a bad seat in the whole venue and the sound quality is perfect! This was the best father daughter concert!

Incredible show at the Gothic in Denver last night! Go see them if you can score a ticket!!! Don't forget to wear a captain's hat and be prepared to dance!

It's a showdown of early 2000s powerhouses, and they’re ready to light up the popular Pittsburgh music melting pot, Stage AE, with a bang! Expect iconic hits from Train’s 11-album repertoire as they cover unprecedented hits from 1998 all the way to 2022! Train has sold over ten million albums worldwide, while 14 of their hits have made it on the Billboard Hot 100. The band is known for releasing some of the biggest pop-rock anthems of the 2000s, including “Hey Soul Sister,” “Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me),” “Drive By,” and more. Their exemplary work in music has earned them three Grammy Awards, an ASCAP Pop Music Award, and two Billboard Music Awards. About Yacht Rock Revue

Yacht Rock Revue is one of the most popular cover bands to have been formed in the past few decades. The band has been centered around a specific type of music called “Yacht Rock.” This style of music is a mixture of soft rock that has been joined together to form a unique type of sound from music from the 70s, 80s, 90s, and 2000s. One of the most exciting parts of Yacht Rock Revue is that they host an annual concert where they bring together members of bands from the songs that Yacht Rock Revue has covered in the past. Of course, the popular band does perform on tour across the country. They will be going on tour again this year.

A History of Yacht Rock Revue

Yacht Rock Revue is a cover band that was formed back in 2007 in the city of Atlanta, Georgia. The band is a conglomeration of members who came from the defunct indie rock band called YOU. Initially, Yacht Rock Revue started as a side project; however, the band now has seven members. The band even has a contract with a company called Live Nation and they perform more than 100 concerts every year. The band has sold out theaters across the country in some of the biggest cities including LA, Boston, Atlanta, and Washington D.C. The band has also performed with a number of other notable individuals from bands such as Chicago, Wings, Blue Oyster Colt, Toto, and more. The band will be going on tour again this year, much to the delight of their fans.

Nick Niespodziani, Peter Olson, Mark Cobb, Greg Lee, Mark Bencuya, Mark Dannells, and David Freeman formed Yacht Rock Revue in Atlanta, Georgia, 2007 as a tribute band to the cheesy, soft rock hits of the Yacht Rock genre. Commercially successful between the mid-1970’s to the mid-1980’s, Yacht Rock was a broad style that included traits from genres such as jazz, R&B, soul and disco, with clean vocals, top-quality production and light, catchy melodies. Yacht Rock Revue wanted to party like it was still 1979, so bought the party to audiences, touring around America and playing more than a 100 shows a year. Yacht Rock Revue’s bouncy attitude, tight band community and epic playing filled a need with many people – a timely reminder that there is still joy and fun in life in any point and at any age. What started off as a side project for the band members has now become their main focus, their success requiring more attention… and more partying! In February 2020 their first album of original material was released, the title ‘Hot Dads in Tight Jeans’ showing their humour and that we can all be what or who we want to be despite what the world assumes. About Yacht Rock Revue

What is left for Yacht Rock Revue to prove? This top-notch group of musicians has already rocked onstage with John Oates, Eddie Money (RIP), and both versions of the band Player. They’ve trademarked the term “yacht rock,” both metaphorically and literally (U.S. Registration Number 3834195). From humble beginnings in a basement, touring in partnership with Live Nation and Sirius XM, they now headline sold-out shows across the country, from Webster Hall in New York to the Wiltern in L.A. While rising from bars to amphitheaters, t hey’ve ticked every box on the Rock Star Accomplishments bingo card. Except for one: Writing and singing their own songs.

Yacht Rock Revue’s first original record is ten songs inspired by the smoooooth sounds of the Seventies and Eighties. They’ve brazenly titled it Hot Dads In Tight Jeans – forgive them for bragging, but that’s what they are – and it returns Yacht Rock Revue to their roots in original music. It’s rare that musicians in their 40s chase their rock star dreams. You’d have to be crazy to try. YRR knew they were underdogs, but resolved to take one more shot at the Top 40, and maybe even become a Cinderella story of midlife fulfillment.

Yacht Rock Revue began in the least-yachtiest of states, 2,000 miles from breezy Marina del Rey. Nick Niespodziani, the group’s singer, guitarist and spiritual leader, and Pete Olson met in the fourth grade in suburban Indiana, went on to Indiana University in the late Nineties, formed the band Y-O-U, then escaped – Rupert Holmes reference intended – to Atlanta. One night, Y-O-U tucked their tongues deep in their cheeks and played a show of Yacht Rock songs. The rowdy (a nice way of saying drunk), sold-out crowd loved it. When the club owner asked them to do it again, Niespodziani didn’t want to. But the club owner had an ace up his sleeve: money.

Over the years, YRR (there’s also a Dave, a Greg, and literally three guys named Mark) have turned themselves into human wine spritzers, playing 120 to 150 shows a year, mastering Yacht Rock’s slick chords and mellow grooves, and partying like it’s 1979. What began as a joke among friends soon put a ripple in the zeitgeist, starting a national trend through YRR’s concerts, lauded as “unabashedly joyous affairs” by Entertainment Weekly. They accumulated an extensive wardrobe of white belts and polyester shirts. Yacht Rock Revue were revered and well-compensated! Their life was a tenor sax solo! This is what every musician wants.

But even as YRR was sailing the smooth seas of tribute-band superstardom, and the band members all became dads, Niespodziani was still writing original songs. These new tunes had the spirit of Yacht Rock, but were more modern – akin to Phoenix or Air, the hip bands that adapted Yacht for a younger audience. They brought the songs to a hot producer, Ben Allen, who’s worked with Gnarls Barkley, Animal Collective, and Neon Indian. Allen gave the songsa lustrous shine, for both new audiences and their ever-loyal fans, the Nation of Smooth. Niespodziani and Olson even co-wrote a song, “Big Bang,” with Yacht Rock master Matthew Wilder, famous for his massive 1983 hit “Break My Stride.”

“Step,” the record’s first single, is a peppy number replete with falsetto and bumping bass, a cross between the Bee Gees and Steely Dan’s “Peg.” It’s also the mission statement for the album in a way, because it’s about deciding who you want to be, and making space for that in your life. The seven-piece band display tight chops, and the songs incorporate Yacht Rock Revue’s sense of humor, especially on the funky, pro-margarita “Bad Tequila,” the flute-fired “Another Song About California,” and opening track “The Doobie Bounce,” where Niespodziani brags, “I used to sleep on couches/Now I sleep on nicer couches.”

Hot Dads In Tight Jeans is as plush and shiny as Kenny Loggins’ beard. And YRR are already dropping these new songs into their sets, to great response from longtime fans who are thrilled to hear new smooth. While others in YRR’s position stick with the tried-and-true, Niespodziani hopes the album will let them welcome aboard new fans, too. To paraphrase a notable mariner… they’re gonna need a bigger yacht.

Before becoming the successful band they are today, Yacht Rock Revue changed its name several times. Former indie rock band Y-O-U, fronted by Peter Olson and Nicholas Niespodzian, chose to play "yacht rock," a kind of music commonly associated with soft rock, one night while performing at a club. Unexpectedly, the crowd loved their renditions of songs from the genre. The band's once-fanciful side gig has since become its primary focus. Their performances of primarily yacht rock to sold-out audiences in various places. Their popularity prompted them to form a new group in 2009 under the moniker Yacht Rock Schooner, which eventually evolved into the Yacht Rock Revue we know today.

After establishing themselves, the group spent many years paying homage to the forefathers of yacht rock from the '70s and '80s. Nonetheless, the band kept working on Niespodzian's own material. In 2020, they released an album called "Hot Dads in Tight Jeans." "We built this Yacht Rock thing on the power of memories and good vibes. None of that is changing; we're just gonna make a few new memories as well," Niespodzian stressed in an interview.

Two iconic pop-rock bands, Train and REO Speedwagon, are co-headlining the 2024 “Summer Road Trip” tour and headed to Upstate New York for four very special shows.

• Friday, July 19 - Artpark Outdoor Amphitheater - Lewiston
• Tuesday, July 23 - Saratoga Performing Arts Center - Saratoga Springs
• Wednesday, July 24 - Bethel Woods Center For The Arts - Bethel
• Wednesday, July 31 - Empower FCU Amphitheater at Lakeview - Syracuse

The 44-city tour kicked off on July 8 in Somerset, WI and includes stops in Chicago, Toronto, New York, Houston, San Francisco, Los Angeles and more before wrapping up on September 11 in Phoenix, AZ. The two bands will be joined by special guest Yacht Rock Revue for all tour dates.

“This tour won’t just be a great time with great people, but a tour that will have a ton of familiar songs to most generations,” Train frontman Pat Monahan shared in a statement.

“I love the idea of bringing together people of all ages, who share a common love for well-crafted songs and high energy live performances,” REO Speedwagon’s Kevin Cronin added.
