'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' 's Jean-Luc Cerza-Lanaux Confirms He Fathered Dani Soares' Baby Girl

Dani Soares, who welcomed her daughter Lilly Rose in May, previously said the baby's father, whose identity she did not reveal at the time, was keeping a distance from her and their child

Below Deck Sailing Yacht star Jean-Luc "J.L." Cerza-Lanaux has come forward to confirm he is the father of Dani Soares' baby

Nearly eight months after the birth of Soares' daughter Lilly Rose , deckhand Cerza-Lanaux announced that the baby girl is his daughter in a lengthy Instagram post on Wednesday.

"As the year 2021 came to a close. A new year in 2022 begins with high ambitions and positivity. My silence on social media has been intentional and much needed. I used that time to focus on what was important to me and my mental health," he began. "I can't let 2022 go any further without sharing some beautiful news. An international DNA test that was done awhile ago was no small feat. I'm happy and proud to say Sweet and beautiful Lilly rose is my daughter."

Cerza-Lanaux, 26, went on to share that he and Soares, 33, have been learning to co-parent as best they can given their busy schedules.

"Dani and I have been working and communicating together to the best of our ability; given Dani is a full time mother and worker, and I being gone for extended periods of time not knowing when I will step back on land. This is imperative for the sake of our daughter as she needs both parents in her life," he explained.

"With that being said, going forward, I will no longer feel the need to explain myself to anybody, when realizing people only understand from their level of perception," he continued. "I am thankful for my friends, and family who have stuck by my side through thick and thin. As I look forward to this new year with new opportunities, I will be striving to be the best man and father that I can be. God bless."

Following the birth of Lilly in May, rumors had been swirling that deckhand Cerza-Lanaux was the father, ever since a preview for the Bravo show's season 2 reunion showed Soares saying that her baby's father is keeping a distance from her and his offspring .

"He thinks it's not his child, he doesn't want to have anything to do with it," Soares said in a teaser for the episode back in June.

"I'm not going to badmouth anybody because my daughter is going to see everything that I'm saying, everything that I'm doing and I don't want her to see things going back and forth on social media or things being said in a moment of anger," Soares told PEOPLE at the time. "As I said, the door's always open, but you need to do more than just talk. You need to actually have some action, do some action."

"The father was part of it, I didn't make her alone," she added of her daughter. "So, if he wants to be part of her life obviously [he can]. But he needs to do more than talk."

At the time, Cerza-Lanaux tried to "clear the air" in an Instagram post, hitting back at Soares' reunion comments in the process.

"While others are off chasing their 15 minutes of fame, I am working on a yacht in Central America and heartbroken to have to hear about the baby's birth on social media and read headlines like ' Dani Soares Says Her Baby's Father Doesn't Want Anything to Do With It ,' Cerza-Lanaux wrote. "All I can say is if she's mine, I want to be involved 100%."

"As someone who grew up with parents who weren't together, I wouldn't wish that on any child," he added. "Not looking for a pity party. Just want everyone to know how strongly I feel about this, especially the haters who are so sure I am neglecting my responsibility. No one wants to know more than me if this is my baby girl!"

I think the viewers are going to see how things pan out between me and Dani really soon so I don't want to spill the beans yet, you guys just have to stay tuned." In April 2021, Soares revealed on Instagram that she was pregnant and many wondered if Cerza-Lanaux was the father , which she surprisingly revealed during the Season 2 reunion.

Dani Soares named Jean-Luc Cerza-Lanaux as the father of her baby

During the "Below Deck Sailing Yacht" Season 2 reunion, Dani Soares stated that Jean-Luc Cerza-Lanaux was indeed the father of her baby. "Well, let's put it this way, this baby was made during the season while we had cameras 24/7 with us and I only slept with one guy," Soares stated, via ET . She then told host Andy Cohen that Cerza-Lanaux didn't think the baby was his and said that he "doesn't want to have anything to do with it." Soares read a text from him: "Don't go around telling people I'm the dad of this child. And I want a DNA test."

In a separate conversation with Andy Cohen during the reunion, Cerza-Lanaux stated that he wanted to be involved in the baby's life and would even move to Australia where Soares lives, per Us Weekly . In May 2021, Soares announced the arrival of her baby girl on Instagram . "She is here. She is perfect. And we trying to figure this thing out."

The following June, Cerza-Lanaux posted on Instagram , "There's a lot of gossip about my social media silence so I think it's time to clear the air ... I am working on a yacht in Central America and heartbroken to have to hear about the baby's birth on social media and read headlines ... All I can say is if she's mine, I want to be involved 100%." Suffice it to say, fans were not happy with the deckhand.

Jean-Luc Cerza-Lanaux finally took a paternity test

Jean-Luc Cerza-Lanaux angered fans yet again when he posted a baby picture of himself on Instagram and made excuses for why he didn't want to take a paternity test. In January 2022, he finally confirmed that he was the father of Dani Soares' baby. "I can't let 2022 go any further without sharing some beautiful news. An international DNA test that was done awhile ago was no small feat. I'm happy and proud to say Sweet and beautiful Lilly rose is my daughter," he wrote on Instagram . He went on to say that he and Soares had been talking and he had every intention of being in his daughter's life.

Unfortunately, it seems as if Cerza-Lanaux did not step up to the plate after the paternity reveal. His "Below Deck Sailing Yacht" castmates expressed their disappointment in him. "She has not received a single piece of financial, let alone moral, support from JL. His deceptive Instagram post was an absolutely false portrayal of his and her relationship as 'coparents,'" Colin MacRae told Us Weekly . Gary King also alleged that Cerza-Lanaux was an absent father. "It's all good in saying stuff on social media but words are completely different to actions and if his actions spoke louder than his words, then it would be different, but at the moment they're not."

As of now, Soares is raising Lilly in Australia as a single mother while Cerza-Lanaux is living his best life traveling the world, per his Instagram .

Part 2 of the Below Deck Sailing Yacht reunion on Tuesday confirmed that Jean-Luc Cerza Lanaux is indeed the father of Dani Soares' baby. Dani gave birth to daughter Lilly in May, and told ET  that fans would get paternity answers during the special.

"Well, let's put it this way, this baby was made during the season while we had cameras 24/7 with us and I only slept with one guy," Dani told Andy Cohen during the special, which was filmed before Lilly's birth. 

However, Dani said J.L. "thinks it's not his child... And he doesn't want to have anything to do with it."

The former stewardess added that J.L. was "supportive in the beginning, and then it just changed." She said that on New Year's, she received a text from J.L. reading, "Don't go around telling people I'm the dad of this child. And I want a DNA test."

Dani said that she agreed to a DNA test as long J.L. paid for and organized it, but he hasn't followed through. J.L. -- who wasn't present with the rest of the cast but filmed an interview for the reunion separately -- said he hoped he and Dani could "co-parent together." 

“Dani, what we had on the show for me was real. I don’t care what anybody says, even now that we’re going through what we are going through. What I felt for you, and the time that we had, was genuine. Everything that I ever said to you was true," he said in an emotional message to Dani. 

"I need you to know that I did support your decision and still do," he continued. "I really hope that we can co-parent together and have respect for one another like we did." 

While J.L. admitted that "most" of what Dani said about the paternity drama was true, and said "for my peace of mind I just wanted to know."

"There was talk of a DNA test," he confirmed. "We've gone as far as me trying to reach out to her doctor's office. I don't think lawyers need to get involved. That is not the avenue I want to go." 

"I understand why she took it poorly because in her mind I might be the only person she’s ever been with," he added. "If that's the case, I told her, I really do apologize, but for my peace of mind I just wanted to know."

After Dani welcomed Lilly in May, J.L. wrote on Instagram that he found out about the baby's birth on social media. 

"There's a lot of gossip about my social media silence so I think it’s time to clear the air. In an interview with ET just before J.L.'s post, Dani said she "would never" deny her daughter's father from being in her life. 

"I would never deny a father seeing their daughter," she said. "That's horrendous. … For Lilly’s sake, I know it would have been much better for her to know that her dad actually wants to meet her and wants to know her, than growing up knowing that he didn't really do anything about it."

Will Dani Soares and Jean-Luc Cerza-Lanaux 's relationship work on the mainland?

In this exclusive clip from the June 7 episode of Below Deck Sailing Yacht , the yachtie couple questions what's next for them as the end of charter season draws near. While Jean-Luc appears committed to making the relationship work, Dani seems to still have her doubts.

"You've been there for me every step of the way," the deckhand states after planting a kiss on the stewardess. "It means a lot to me."

Dani responds, "I do care about you a lot."

Continuing on with his speech, Jean-Luc reveals that Dani has made the charter season "that much better." In order to be fully candid, Dani tells Jean-Luc exactly how she feels.

"To be a hundred percent honest, you make me feel, like, I'm the most amazing person in the world," she expresses. "But I just don't see how this could actually work. That's what you get when you get with 30-plus year-old women, who have no time to waste."

Despite Dani's concerns, Jean-Luc refuses to give up on what they have. He adds, "At the end of the day, if we make one another happy, then that's all that matters."

As Dani notes that she only wants what is best for Jean-Luc, the deckhand demands to know why that can't be her. "Because… I want to have babies , I want to get married," she exclaims. "Do you want to do that? Let's have sex tonight. And if I get pregnant ? That's God's will."

After clarifying that she's joking, Dani revels she's scared by the fact that Jean-Luc has never had a relationship before. "I mean, I get it," he says. "Sometimes people need a leap of faith in order to see a side of them that hasn't been seen before."

While we don't totally understand what Jean-Luc means by that, it resonates with Dani, who gives the tall deckhand a kiss. "You mean a lot to me," he concludes. "And that's why I'm still here."

Below Deck Sailing Yacht ‘s Dani Soares surprised fans with some happy news this week when she revealed her pregnancy on Instagram. The reality star shared a snap of her baby bump with her followers, writing “It’s just you and I little baby.” Dani, the 2nd stewardess on the Parsifal III, was met with congratulations from her fellow cast members, who flooded the comments section of her post in celebration.

“Love you girl! So so soooo proud of you incredible lady,” wrote Below Deck ‘s Izzy Wouters, while  Below Deck  star Hannah Ferrier, who recently gave birth to her first child, commented, “Gorgeous!!! Play dates in Sydney it is.”

One detail Dani didn’t include in her post was the father of her baby. Fans of Below Deck Sailing Yacht know she was last linked to deckhand Jean-Luc Cerza Lanaux, and the romance between the two has been a major plot point of this season.

On last week’s episode, Jean-Luc shared his feelings for Dani, per People . “I’m happy to be out with my crew, but I’d rather be hanging out with Dani alone,” he said. “I haven’t had a serious relationship really ever, but you can definitely tell that there’s something there, the sparkle in her eye or the smile on me from ear to ear.”

Curious if Dani and Jean-Luc are together? Here’s what you need to know about the romance between these two Below Deck Sailing Yacht  stars.

ARE DANI AND JEAN-LUC STILL TOGETHER?

That remains to be seen. While they’re heating up on  Below Deck Sailing Yacht , we don’t know for sure if these two are still linked now that the show has wrapped filming. Jean-Luc played coy about their relationship status in a recent interview with MEAWW . “Me and Dani aboard Parsifal found an escape you could say in one another,” he said, adding, “I think the viewers are going to see how things pan out between me and Dani really soon so I don’t want to spill the beans yet, you guys just have to stay tuned.”

And when Dani appeared on  Watch What Happens Live last week, she told Andy Cohen things weren’t too serious between the two. When Cohen asked if she was concerned Jean-Luc hadn’t been in a serious relationship before, she replied , “Um, a little bit, but at this stage, that was not what I was looking for. It’s just having a bit of fun.”

Although we can’t confirm whether Dani and Jean-Luc are together after  Below Deck Sailing Yacht , their social media may hold some clues. As Distractify points out, they don’t follow one another on Instagram or tag each other when they appear in group photos. Still, we’ll have to wait and see if this relationship hits the rocks as Below Deck Sailing Yacht  Season 2 continues.

'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' Stars Dani and JL Finally Reveal if JL Is Her Baby Daddy (SPOILERS)

Who knew that a yacht crew would make for must-watch television? Apparently, Bravo was right on the money with Below Deck Sailing Yacht . The drama-filled historic second season has come to an end, and as we tune into the reunion, there’s one major question on all our minds — where in the world is Jean-Luc "JL" Cerza Lanaux ?

JL is rumored to be Dani Soares’ baby daddy after their passionate summer yacht fling, and for some reason, he’s nowhere to be seen in the first part of the Below Deck Sailing Yacht reunion. Could that be related to the baby daddy rumors? Well, the rest of the cast certainly had something to say about JL and the lack of his presence at the reunion and in Dani’s life.

JL was not at the ‘Below Deck Sailing Yacht’ reunion, but he filmed a separate interview with Andy Cohen.

JL says that he wishes he could have been at the reunion, but do we really buy that? To be fair, he says he’s working on a yacht in Central America, which is why he couldn’t be at the Below Deck Sailing Yacht reunion. However, the lack of his physical presence at the reunion doesn’t mean he’s not there. In fact, JL is probably the most talked-about cast member in the first part of the reunion.

He does make an appearance in the second part of the Below Deck Sailing Yacht reunion in a separate interview with Andy Cohen . According to him and Dani, we would find out everything we need to know about their relationship and JL’s involvement with Dani’s new baby girl, Lilly.

“I think the reunion is going to answer all the questions and more,” Dani told Entertainment Tonight regarding questions about what happened in their relationship and if JL is Dani’s baby daddy .

Dani also admitted that she was disappointed JL wasn’t at the reunion with the rest of the cast. “It's much better when we're all together and we can have a discussion instead of just being separate, and we might not get a chance to answer and things like that.”

Dani all but completely confirmed that Jean-Luc was the father of her baby. When Andy asked Dani, "Is JL the father of your baby?" Dani replied, "Well, let's put it this way: This baby was made during this season while we had cameras 24 / 7 with us, and I only slept with one guy." That one guy was JL.

For his part, Jean-Luc addressed Dani's claims that he is not interested in being a part of his child's life and that he hasn't been supportive throughout her pregnancy. She also stated that he wanted a paternity test done, which she asked him to pay for, but he never got it done. Jean-Luc said that he still wants to have the test done, but that after he asked for it, she didn't take it well.

"I asked for a paternity test, and essentially, that turned into a lot of backlash and her not wanting to hear from me and essentially not having to do anything with me. But, for me, as a 24-year-old at the time with not much experience at all in a relationship and a woman telling me that she's pregnant, I feel like that that's a very understandable question to ask in any situation," JL said in the interview with Andy.

"And she took it very poorly, and I understand why she took it poorly, because, you know, in her mind, I might be the only person that she's ever been with. And if that's the case, I told her, I really do apologize. But for my peace of mind, I just wanted to know. And I told her that if this is my child, I want to be a part of that child's life every single day as much as I can for the rest of her little life or for his life," he said.

But despite saying that he still wants to have the paternity test done, the reunion special, which was filmed in mid-May, shortly before Lilly's birth, ended with an update saying, "Jean-Luc and Dani have yet to speak with each other."

Dani and Jean-Luc quickly became interested in one another while working on the sailing yacht and were frequently seen spending time together. Although Dani wasted no time bringing up the potential of marriage and babies, 26-year-old Jean-Luc's clear hesitancy (and, at one point, potential STD) towards settling down created some awkward situations. Nonetheless, Dani and Jean-Luc ended  BDSY  season 2, confessing their love for each other and leaving Parsifal III as a couple.

After BDSY  season 2 ended, it was revealed that Dani was expecting a baby girl . While the father wasn't named at the start, all eyes pointed towards Jean-Luc. Dani gave birth to Lilly Rose in May 2021, and after going back-and-forth with his former  BDSY  co-stars on Instagram, Jean-Luc confirmed that Lilly was his daughter this past January. Besides becoming a mother, Dani, who has sported a new short-haired look since November, has settled down in Sydney, Australia. In addition to raising Lily, Dani has been working as a beauty therapist while studying to become a nurse, previously telling  Bravo Insider , "I just want to do something that I can be like, I'm actually helping, I'm actually changing people's lives, you know?"

Although Dani isn't planning to return to yachting anytime soon, the 34-year-old still has a foot in the  Below Deck  franchise. After  BDSY  season 2 wrapped last summer, Dani , Alli, and chief stew Daisy Kelliher started an Instagram Live series called  Pita Party . The three stews   upload weekly episodes that focus on the currently-airing BDSY  season 3, as well as individual and collective experiences as women in their 30s. Dani, Alli, and Daisy are frequently joined by  Below Deck  special guests like Ashley Marti, Colin MacRae, and Tom Pearson. Since establishing  Pity Party , Dani, Alli, and Daisy have expanded the show to a podcast that can be found on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.

Between working, studying, and caring for Lily, it's clear that Dani has a lot on her plate, especially since she's hinted that Jean-Luc isn't as involved with their daughter as he should be. Nevertheless, fans of  BDSY  are happy to see that Dani is not only still invested in the charter yacht world but continues to have the support of Alli, Daisy, and other  Below Deck  stars. Dani has undergone one of the biggest transformations since appearing on  BDSY  season 2, emotionally and physically, yet it's clear that she is focused on carving a wide path of opportunities for her and Lilly.

Are Dani and Jean-Luc Still together after Below Deck Sailing Yacht?

IT'S fair to say Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 2 has been FULL of hook ups and break ups.

But one couple which seem to be totally smitten with each other is Dani and Jean-Luc.

Are Dani and Jean-Luc still together after Below Deck Sailing Yacht?

It's fair to say these two haven't been able to keep their hands off each other during the second season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht .

The season is still airing on Bravo, so fans are keen to know what happened once the cameras stopped rolling,

The series actually wrapped filming in August 2020, so a lot can happen in that time.

While they look like they are falling in love on the show, viewers want to know if they have lasted the distance.

Jean-Luc played coy about their relationship status in an interview in April 20201 with  MEAWW .

He said: “Me and Dani aboard Parsifal found an escape you could say in one another.

“I think the viewers are going to see how things pan out between me and Dani really soon so I don’t want to spill the beans yet, you guys just have to stay tuned.”

Has Dani had a baby?

To throw further fuel on the fire as to their relationship status, in April 2021 Dani revealed she was heavily pregnant.

The father of the baby is yet to be revealed but it is not believed to be JL.

Dani then revealed she had given birth in May 2021.

With this in mind, JL could be the father, but neither party has made any suggestion that this is the case.

Is Below Deck Sailing Yacht alum Dani Soares dating anyone? 

One of Dani's pictures showed her gazing fondly at a gentleman who had his arm around her. In the photo, both Dani and her mystery man were dressed to the nines, she in a long navy-blue dress with a plunging neckline and cutouts, he clad in a royal blue jacket over a crisp white shirt. Her caption simply read: "Couple goals." 

Whether they are coupled up as friends or something else, the photo made it clear that Dani and her plus-one look great together, and seem to have a great time together, too. 

Dani Soares shares an update on her daughter Lilly 

Dani has also shared some recent updates on her daughter, Lilly, who apparently has a blast anywhere she goes. In a January 25 Instagram post , she included a video of her and Lilly riding a kiddie train. The little one was thrilled, smiling wide and squealing with delight throughout the ride. In her caption, Dani wrote: "POV: You having the most [fun] on a tiny train that goes in circles for 2 minutes." 

The former yachting pro also shared a snapshot from the special day in her Instagram Stories. The photo showed her and Lilly smiling wide on the ever-so-fun train ride. "Long weekend happiness," Dani captioned the snap. 

On December 28, 2023, Dani shared another video of Lilly living her best life. In the Instagram post , the little girl was seen lying down serenely splashing the water around her as she spread out like a starfish. "2023: If all you did was survive, it's ok. We made it," Dani captioned the photo, noting that she was "looking forward to 2024."

Dani Soares opens up about motherhood 

Back in 2022, Dani shared her philosophy on motherhood with another post that showed her sweet little girl. The photo featured Lilly dressed up in shades of pink, sitting in front of a flower mural.

“My favourite flowers,” Dani captioned the capture of her then 14-month-old daughter. “My number one priority always! Only a real parent understands that life is not about you anymore, it’s about the life you made and brought into this world and everything you do is for her.”

Dani  welcomed her daughter in May 2021 . It was later confirmed that Jean-Luc Cerza-Lanaux , who also appeared on Season 2 of  Below Deck Sailing Yacht,  is Lilly’s father.

Dani, who according to her Instagram bio is now a nurse, opened up about finding time to balance it all in another Instagram post .

"Mum guilty! Oh my goodness! Honestly it's so hard. I'm basically feeling guilty 24/7. I feel guilty if I study, if I go to work, if I go out, if I stay in, if I cook something not super healthy, if I order delivery, and so on... I haven't learned how to navigate this yet but I'm giving my best. My daughter it's my priority and will always be," she said.  Also, if you are a parent who has 0 care of your child, we're not the same! I can't make any small decisions in my life without taking my daughter in consideration, as it should be. If nothing in your life has changed since having kids, we're not the same. Anyways, we're always wrong in someone's eyes and in our own eyes too often."

What happened to Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5? Here’s what we know

What happened to Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5? That’s the question on fans’ minds after it was revealed Below Deck Med Season 9 will air following Below Deck Season 11.

Ever since Below Deck Sailing Yacht premiered on Bravo, it has followed the OG show.

That’s the way it’s been for the past four years, except for last year when Below Deck Down Under Season 2 aired after Below Deck Sailing Yacht.

So why all of a sudden is there a switch in the schedule, especially since Below Deck Med Season 8 just ended in January?

Let’s take a look at what we know.

What happened to Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5?

The reason for the change-up likely has to do with the sexual misconduct allegations that came out against Gary King after Season 5 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht was filmed.

Leaked photos revealed that Daisy Kelliher and Gary were back for another stint aboard Parsifal III with Captain Glenn. The two of them returning was music to fans’ ears as they helped make Below Deck Sailing Yacht a huge success with Colin MacRae.

However, a couple of weeks later, news broke that a member of the production team came out via Rolling Stone to accuse Gary of unwanted sexual advances and harassment. Gary was soon removed from the BravoCon 2023 list, making clear Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 could be in trouble.

Unlike when Peter Hunziker was fired by Bravo for a racist post and then edited out of the season, Gary has not been fired from the show. Plus, editing Gary out really wouldn’t be an option because he plays such a pivotal role and makes a good story even if fans don’t like him.

All of this means that what would have been Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 could be scrapped. Should that be the case, a new season of the sailing show won’t air for a long time.

Then again, maybe the powers that be are still trying to figure out how to save the season with Gary, and they just need more time.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht fans share thoughts on schedule change

A Reddit thread devoted to the Below Deck Med and Below Deck Sailing Yacht swap had fans buzzing.

“I would absolutely be okay with a delay if it means not having to watch Gary. I’m not sure I’ll even watch if he’s on it, especially since Colin isn’t. And Glenn the enabler has went from being best captain to #3 now…,” wrote one user.

Another admitted to liking the sailing show with Daisy but could do without Gary and would be fine if Season 5 never aired.

“AS IT SHOULD BE. Bravo needs to learn- you hire racists, you hire sexual abusers, you’re going to lose money. The end.” was another remark.

A different user doesn’t think the season will air and noticed Daisy switched her Instagram bio, so that may be a clue that Season 5 will never see the light of day. There was also speculation that Below Deck spin-offs will soon be combined for money reasons.

“That is a possibility or they’re still editing the heck out of it to reduce his role as much as possible but that has got to be a monumental task. I doubt they’d scrub an entire season but maybe more things have come out behind the scenes we’re unaware of and they have to do what they have to do especially with all the negative publicity they’re getting with Andy Cohen lately.” declared another user.

Along with Below Deck Sailing Yacht being pushed back, Below Deck Down Under fate seems to be up in the air. As Monsters and Critics previously reported, Captain Jason Chambers asked for fans’ help with Season 3.
