Shipbuilder BAVARIA YACHTS

BAVARIA Yachtbau was founded in 1978 by Winfried Herrman, a window manufacturer, and Josef Meltl, a yacht charter broker. Bavaria is one of the largest yacht manufacturers in Europe and the largest shipyard in Germany, which today employs over a thousand people. It is also one of the world's top three market leaders for 9-18 meter yachts and can produce over 1,200 boats per year. In July 2014, Bavaria acquired the French catamaran manufacturer Nautitech Catamarans. With this purchase, the yard has expanded its product portfolio to include this growing sector. Bavaria's model range includes sailboats, powerboats and catamarans. Although Bavaria started out as a manufacturer of sailboats, motorboats are also very popular today. Their boats are well represented in the rental sector because of their excellent value for money. On April 20, 2018, Boote magazine reported that Bavaria filed for bankruptcy. According to information available to Boote, investors have withdrawn their capital support. Capital Management-Partners GmbH (CMP) officially acquires Bavaria as a new financial investor. It was only at the last moment before the final closure of the shipyard that the purchase contract with CMP was signed on September 17th. The new management team of Bavaria Yachtbau GmbH includes from August 2021 Marc Diening as CEO. In January 2021, the Bavaria C42 was voted European Yacht of the Year. The international jury of specialized journalists, particularly praised the high level of comfort and the perfect navigation characteristics of this one. Frequently Asked Questions

On occasion. For instance, for participants of a long distance rally such as World ARC, we prefer a 1st January renewal date allowing for boats to be in St Lucia at the start of the policy and in South Africa when the policy is due for renewal.

We suggest that if you’re uncertain which areas you need to cover for, opt for a more limited range with an option for extending. This way, you’ll know how much extra premium is required so you can budget accordingly.

We’re happy to accommodate changes to cruising area or any other aspect of your policy at any time during the year. Adjustments may result in an additional premium, but we never charge administrative fees for mid-term changes.

Our standard policy allows you to take part in any race or regatta, but it does not cover for the rig unless damage is caused by collision, stranding, sinking or fire. The hull is covered, but with double excess during racing.

Because we’re committed to offering the best personal service and tailored terms, we don’t believe in automatic renewals. Instead, we’ll offer you a renewal quote about a month before your policy is due to expire, and ask you whether there have been any changes to your requirements.

Rescue disposal costs.

Where rescue and/or disposal is required, the resulting costs of up to 1 million Euros above the insured sum are covered.

Discount Saver

After four claim-free BAVARIA years, there will not be a downgrading of your no-claim bonus, if a claim occurs.

No Claims Bonus

You have been insured with us for five years and have not had a claim: If so, we will cut your excess amount in half, if a claim occurs.

Regatta Risk

Our company management and the staff are active motor-boat drivers and sailors themselves. Hence the regatta risk is covered free of premiums.

Our Claims Department

In a claim you will not be passed on to some employee in an insurance company whom you do not know. We will process your claim in our own claims department and ensure rapid settlement. We will assume the claims processing right from the start and shall be pleased to take work off you. In this way we remain your contact, particularly when it is crucial.

The transport risk is covered, no matter whether on the trailer, with a transport company or your own keel. Regatta Risk Our company management and the staff are active motor-boat drivers and sailors themselves. Hence the regatta risk is covered free of premiums.

Cover extends not only to the ship itself and all its ac- cessories, butalso to the complete nautical equipment such as GPS, auto-pilot, all technical facilities, sail, tar- paulin, even the binoculars as well as the radio are in- cluded free of extra premiums. Personal effects are automatically covered as well up to 2 % of the total insurance amount (maximum, howe- ver, up to Euros 3.000) automatically.

Gaining additional practical experience, learning new things and exchanging ideas with each other - more than 35 service technicians from our dealers were able to do all of this during a week-long BAVARIA service workshop at our shipyard.

It is the Oscar of the yachting industry, the European Yacht of the Year Award. The BAVARIA YACHTS team is all the more proud that the BAVARIA C46 was able to beat six competitors in the "Family Cruiser" category

Last week, the last BAVARIA VISION 42 was completed in Giebelstadt. On Friday morning, part of the BAVARIA YACHTS team gathered to give her a fitting farewell. The sailing yacht celebrated its premiere at the boot Düsseldorf in 2012 and the almost 13 metre long yacht was built in the shipyard for just over 12 years.

At the beginning of last year, the BAVARIA SR41 won the "British Motorboat Award", the BAVARIA SR36 won the "Best of Boat Award" just a few months later and was nominated for the "European Powerboat of the Year". BAVARIA YACHTS got off to a flying start at the Cannes Yachting Festival, where the German shipyard was represented with a total of eight motor and sailing yachts.
