We had the BEST vacation on "Sol Liv". Captain James and Chef Robyn were easy and fun to be around, and provided wonderful - and seemingly effortless- hospitality. The boat was beautiful, spotless, and spacious and somehow never seemed crowded--plenty of room to spread out and catch a nap when sailing. In addition to sailing the boat, Captain James was a master-bartender; he created a different "captain's cocktail" (aka "sundowners") each day, even providing the kids with beautiful nonalcoholic versions. And Robyn--she is truly a master chef. The creations that she made were not just visually stunning, but delicious as well. The four kids on the boat had a blast; in addition to swimming and snorkeling, they had jousting competitions on the paddleboards, and even tried to catch one of the tarpons that orbited the boat at night (no luck). I am so grateful to have been on this trip.

The boat was clean and in pristine condition. The layout was so well thought out. We had 12 people in our party and never felt crowded on Sol Liv. Tony and Claudia took great care of us and made sure we all had fun. We have experienced other charter companies before and it is not the same as Voyage. We will definitely travel with Voyage again in the future!

My family and I just got back from a sailing trip in the BVIs with Voyage Charters and, although I had never been sailing and had no idea what to expect going in, it exceeded all expectations I could have ever had. Our boat was named Sol Liv and it was BEAUTIFUL and so fancy! There were 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, not including crew quarters. Even though we had a family of 11 onboard, we never felt crowded and like we were constantly on top of each other. We also had our own Chef (Danielle, Denzie as Ryan calls her) and Captain (Ryan) who were both incredible. They knew the islands very well and always had a super fun day planned for us. My mom went into the trip with a few places she wanted to see/visit, which were accommodated, but some of the stops were places Ryan and Danielle recommended which we really appreciated since they are locals to the area! Danielle, was outstanding and made the most delicious meals with recipes I had never had before. Every meal we had was delicious and I am still in awe that she was able to cook that efficiently for 11 people. She would even go into town to acquire local foods so that everything was nice and fresh. I hope she makes a cookbook because I need those recipes! The Captain, Ryan, was also wonderful and went above and beyond to take us to the best spots in the BVIs. He was always ready with the dinghy to take us to shore whenever we wanted. He also went out of his way to take us on 2 separate hikes to places he thought we would like and had pretty views (first along the ridge on Norman Island, then at Cane Garden Bay). My brother and mom also lost their sunglasses in the water and Ryan went down and retrieved them for them. Danielle and Ryan were such a hospitable crew and felt like part of the family the whole trip (they even joined us for family game night 😊 ). I highly recommend Voyage Charters, especially if you have Ryan and Danielle onboard. We will definitely be back and will request this dynamic duo!!

There was plenty for all of us to do - my kids are 14, 12 and 8, and it was the perfect mix of a relaxing and active vacation. Captain Tony knew of our interests from the Preference Packet ahead of time and set a course of travel through the BVIs based on our interests. Once he got to know us even better during the trip, at various times he asked us our preference of activities and was flexible to amend the schedule to accommodate our interests. His sailing expertise made us ALL feel very comfortable and relaxed! (We had never lived on a boat before!) Chef Claudia made delicious meals for us every day! She too had carefully read our Preference Sheets and knew what types of food my family likes best. The variety and depth of the food was amazing, and the timing of when we eat was always perfect! Together, they created a vacation that included lots of snorkeling, swimming, sunning, paddle-boarding, kayaking, and hiking (when we stopped on land). They know the BVIs so well so therefore knew all the best places - both known and less known!, and shared those with us. Not only was it a vacation we will never forget, but I am confident we will be lifelong friends with Tony and Claudia! Thank you Voyage Charters for the trip of a lifetime!

Once you confirm your reservation, your broker will process your payment.

• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is confirmed more than 7 days in advance, a deposit of either $1,000 USD or 50% of the total cost of the reservation (whichever is greater) is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 7 days away, the remainder of the amount due is processed.
• If you are booking for a single day and your reservation is made 7 days or less in advance, the total price of your reservation is processed immediately.
• If you are booking for a multi-day charter and your reservation is confirmed more than 30 days in advance, a deposit of 50% of the cost of the yacht is processed immediately in order to hold the yacht. Once your embarkation date is 30 days away, the other 50% is collected for the price of the yacht, plus the APA, plus the taxes due.

Terms of refunds are dictated by the Charter Agreement. Generally, once a payment is collected, it is non-refundable. In certain circumstances, as dictated by the Charter Agreement, credits can be provided so you will be able to enjoy your yacht charter at a future date that is convenient for you.

Motor yachts are an increasingly popular choice in previously catamaran-dominated BVI’s. Charter yacht holiday on a bigger vessel is becoming more common and we’re seeing larger yachts being more welcome around the British Virgin Islands, especially coming over from St Thomas Yacht Haven Grande Marina.

The advantages of a motor yacht include speed, comfort, and luxury amenities with greater deck space and a shallow draft, making it easier to navigate shallow waters. If you are not looking for the classic itinerary and want to be in control of (longer) distances per day, a motor yacht is preferable to a catamaran or sailboat .

Start your day at Norman Island before visiting the wreck of RMS Rhone! Arrange a historian to make the day interesting or arrange for the crew to bury the treasure for a Pirate Day. Or cruise past the third-largest barrier reef in the world at Anegada before getting a taste of the best Caribbean lobster prepared by your private chef.

About The Weather

The temperature throughout the year remains steady at around 28°C/82°F . The warm Caribbean waters and trade winds are there all year round, however, the dry season, from January until July, is considered the best time to yacht charter due to reduced humidity and less chance of rain per day. With that being said, the wet season tends to experience localized rain in a short heavy downpour, and you can easily sail away from the storm clouds to the next sun-kissed island.

November and December are also great times for the British Virgin Islands yacht charter, with the Christmas and New Year festivities ensuring that there is plenty to see and do during the peak of the season.

You will motor out of Nanny Cay Marina or Hodges Creek Marina on Tortola, aboard one of these sleek motor yachts and cruise the beautiful British Virgin Islands at your own pace, seeing as much or as little as you wish.

The motor yachts can be hired as bareboat, or for the non-sailors, a skipper can be provided. For those who would like to learn, instructional skippers can be requested.

The motor yachts range from 38′ to 58′ and are spacious, offering two, three or four double cabins, plenty of sunbathing space, fully equipped galley, CD player with speakers above and below deck, hot and cold water deck showers, inflatable dinghy with outboard and a barbeque for those balmy Caribbean evenings. Towels and bed linen are also included.

52′ power catamarans are also part of the fleet. These luxury vessels boast comfortably spacious salons and four double cabins. The enormous aft cockpit has seating for everyone, with wetbar, sink and a huge ice chest with wine and beer cooling compartment. Vast swim-platforms make getting in and out of the water easy for the divers in the party.

Types of charter

There are two primary ways to break down the BVI yacht charters: crew and power.

• By the primary type of power used to move the boat around: Sailboat Motor yacht
• The secondary sorting is by crew that is available on the chartered yacht. Crewed Yacht Captain Only

Crewed charter

The crewed charter usually includes at least a captain and a chef. The boat is provisioned according to guest wishes and preferences. Since all the work is handled by the crew (captain handles the boat and the chef handles the food, and often more (diving, watersports)), the guests can really have a relaxed, laid back time.

Captain only charter

Captain only charters are a good middle ground between the crewed charters and the bareboat charters. It’s very much like car rental. You do the paperwork and rent the boat. Local experience of the crew should not be underestimated. A captain will know secret spots and is able to quickly analyze your preferences and types of vacation you wish (or need).

Bareboat charter

Bareboat charter is the budget friendly option for qualified sailors. Originally intended for people who know the area, the price convenience caused that today, many of the bareboat captains would be better off with a captain only charter. If you haven’t been to the BVI before or you haven’t that much experience sailing the boat you wish to charter (rent), consider a captain only charter, you will thank us later:) At the moment, we don’t include bareboats in our search, please inquire directly and we can find a matching bareboat for you.

Built in Germany to a high standard, the 34 has a roller furling main and genoa, with all control lines easy to hand in the cockpit. The genoa winches have been moved aft, so the genoa can be trimmed easily by the helm or crew. You can be under full sail in just a few minutes. Fountaine Pajot launched the Lucia 40 on the boatyard’s 40th anniversary—a nice birthday present to itself as well as to sailors seeking a manageable cruising cat perfect for cruising the BVI.

The design team of Berret-Racoupeau was tasked with bringing big-boat allure to a smaller footprint, and the result is a sleek cruiser that has plenty of beam and deck space without looking boxy or awkwardly tall. The hulls have a fine entry for better performance, the fixed keels eliminate the need for daggerboards and the coachroof angles down as it swoops forward, adding shade over the windows. The Fountaine Pajot Lucia 40 is actually bigger than the Lipari 41 she replaced, featuring a more spacious cockpit, more interior volume and more oversized windows all around.

Boarding via the aft transom platforms is made easier with well-placed handholds. From here, it’s only one step up to the cockpit, which as mentioned, is very spacious. In fact, it is almost the size of the cockpit of the popular Helia 44. The portside L-shaped dinette can accommodate up to eight, and there is additional seating along the transom and on the starboard side. The entire cockpit is protected by a composite bimini, which also serves as the base for the large mainsheet traveller, keeping the running rigging out of the cockpit.

Nauti Dog has an elevated helm position with seating for two, with excellent visibility of the sail plan and for manoeuvering. Her twin 30 HP engines make her a breeze to pick up a mooring or to come alongside. An electric winch hoists her fully battened mainsail, and a furling jib is set in a matter of seconds. The mainsail stack pack, also known as a lazy bag, makes dropping and flaking the sail extremely easy. The Lucia 40 is responsive to sail, easy to tack, and can be handled easily by two sailors. With a full suite of electronics, including two chart plotters and an autopilot, she is a joy to cruise aboard. Stored on her davits is a 10ft Rigid Inflatable Dinghy with a 15hp Yamaha outboard. Quickly launched and retrieved, the dinghy will get on the plane with 2 or 3 aboard and carry up to 6 persons comfortably to your favourite snorkel spots.

The well-appointed saloon is accessed via a large sliding double door. The galley has a gas oven and a capacious 130-litre fridge.

This Fountaine Pajot Lucia 40 is the owner’s version – the three-cabin “Maestro” with three electric heads and showers. A generator can run air conditioning throughout the yacht, although with hatch breeze boosters aboard, most of the year in the BVI you can relax in the comfort of the tradewinds. The entire starboard hull is dedicated to a master suite, with an en-suite head and shower. The walk-around island Queen double aft is easy to get into, and there is a desk amidships if you need some space to work “off the grid”. The starboard hull has two equally spacious double cabins, each with its own head and shower.

The Nautitech 44 Open is the latest design in the Nautitech lineup to get really excited about!

This new design builds on the successful Nautitech ‘Open’ concept and so delivers a ‘wide grin’ sailing performance. The 44 Open is probably the fastest cruising catamaran available for a bareboat charter. She can point higher than any other cruising cat (that does not have daggerboards -which consume interior space), thanks to her high aspect sail plan, tight sheeting angles, high aspect rudders, a draft of 4ft 9“and an excellent sail area to displacement ratio. The Open 44 remains stable, comfortable, and downright fun to sail on and off the wind.

Optimized cruising speeds are a result of the low wetted surface area enabled by narrow, hydrodynamic hulls below the waterline. While the hard-chined stepped hulls above the waterline give more interior living space.

You have an unobstructed view of the sails and the sea thanks to the double aft helm station positions; you can communicate and enjoy the sailing with all the crew members in the cockpit.

In a change from the design of the Open 40, the lower mainsheet track positioning is easy to adjust and see for perfect sail trim from the helm station. A low boom above the coach roof allows for extra efficiency from the mainsail, more sail area and easy access to the sail bag. The high aspect furling, and self-tacking jib, with all control lines led aft to electric winches for both sails, means the 44 Open is a breeze to sail short-handed.

There is rich joinery in the interior of the 44 Open which gives a warm and modern ambience aboard. The cockpit flows seamlessly into the saloon (the ethos of the Open concept) giving you the ideal indoor/outdoor living space for a yacht in the tropics. The galley conjoins the saloon and cockpit, so matter where the crew are, the chef is part of the socialising. The interior saloon area is cosy and offers a modular seating arrangement with cushioned cubes that can be moved around into a day bed, a footrest, or stools. 

With the almost 360-degree view from the entrance of the saloon, you can happily escape (rare!) inclement weather or socialize at the cockpit table whilst still keeping an eye on your surroundings.

Thanks to a double-drawer fridge, cockpit fridge and freezer unit, there is excellent fridge capacity aboard.

Both hulls feature 2 cabins. The aft cabin has a queen-sized island bed and the forward cabin has a forward-facing double bed.

The seamlessly integrated companionway benefits from extra storage lockers. Both hulls have separate shower units and toilets allowing for easy living between guests. The toilet unit also has its own hand basin.

There is an integrated solar array on the coach roof as well as solar panels mounted on the dinghy davits. This removes the requirement to run your engine or generator to charge the lithium batteries on board on sunny days.
