This 34 Defever Passagemaker is a classic trawler built to last by expert USA craftsmen. This very popular and highly regarded trawler model is now available to you after owners have enjoyed cruising her extensively in Florida, along Atlantic coast, and NY and Canadian canals, lakes and rivers. Cruise economically with single Perkins 135 hp diesel engine, in comfort with generator powered airconditioning as needed. Large bimini covered bridge with upper helm seats lots of guests and family while cruising or hosting docktails. Tall cruisers will enjoy 6' 6" salon headroom, 6' 4" master suite headroom and 7' long master v-berth. With fully equipped galley up along interior starboard side, the large salon is roomy for entertaining guests and family with the chef in the conversation.

After admiring from the dock this Defever Passagemaker's classic trawler design, step aboard at swim platform or side deck. Notice swim ladder and transom door from teak swim platform. Appreciate the large bimini covered cockpit and moulded nonskid decks all around exterior. Move forward along deep side decks with high protected sides and rails to bow deck. Observe high protective bow rails, anchor pulpit and electric windlass. Return along starboard side deck to note sliding side door to lower helm. Continue along side deck to cockpit and up steps to bridge. Notice high protective rails surrounding bridge as you move forward to upper helm. Observe the full 360º view from bridge helm. Note plenty of fixed seating just aft of helm and room for boat chairs aft on bridge.

Return to cockpit to enter salon through sliding doors with large shaded windows and screen doors. Note spacious layout with galley along starboard side aft of lower helm. Observe L-shaped settee to port with table forward of seating area with lounge chair and cabinet.

Proceed forward and down 3 steps to master suite. Observe private enclosed head to port with granite vanity counter, wand shower and electric marine toilet. Note large hanging locker to starboard. Continue forward to master suite with 7' long v-berth and cabinet storage.

You'll love the comfort of this Defever 34. Built for cruising long passages, salon layout with galley up along starboard side is more spacious than 34' trawlers with galley down. Large side, forward and aft windows with shades provide lots of light with/without sunshine as desired. Salon aft sliding doors with screens and opening side windows give great cross-ventilation when generator powered airconditioning not needed. Master v-berth suite with head is forward. Tall cruisers who find very few comfortable trawlers in this size will love the 6' 6" salon headroom, 6' 4" master suite headroom and 7' long v-berth.

This Passagemaker has 100 gallon fresh water tank, two 20 gallon holding tanks and two 175 gallon fuel tanks to minimize marina stops along the way.

Defever trawlers for sale.

The models described in the following pages represent a cross section of late model DeFever designs. DeFevers have been manufactured by several U.S. and Asian manufacturers over the years, some better than others. Among the better-known builders, the CTF yard in Taiwan was well known for its comprehensive series of DeFever models from 40 to 72 feet in length. DeFever designs are perhaps best characterized as sturdy long-range cruisers with a distinctive trawler (or pilothouse) profile, practical accommodations, and seakindly hulls. While the models previewed in these pages are of fiberglass construction,many older DeFevers, including the popular Alaskan series from Grand Banks, were built of wood. Clean, used DeFevers are nearly always in demand, and their resale values have held up surprisingly well over the years.

47' defever vessel walkthrough.

Entering the enclosed sundeck from the open aftdeck through the sliding aft doors, you will find seating on each side, a cocktail table, wide, teak steps forward to the flybridge and side deck doors on each side. Step down a few stairs to the salon and you will find the galley port aft, sofa and lounge chair to port, cabinetry to starboard and the lower helm forward. The companionway to the master stateroom and port guest stateroom is aft and then there is a companionway forward to the forward guest stateroom. The engine room is accessed through a door forward.

The headroom in the salon is 6'10", 6'6" in the master stateroom, 6'4" in the master stateroom shower, 6'7" in the forward guest stateroom, 6'1" in the forward guest stateroom head, 4'4" in the engine room, 6'5" in the port guest stateroom, 6'3" in the sundeck and 7' on the flybridge. The master stateroom berth is 6'6" long, the forward guest stateroom berths are 6'5" long and the port guest stateroom berths are 6'2" long.

The height from the waterline to the top of the Radar is 18'6".

Curtis Stokes was born in Lewes, Delaware and grew up in nearby Rehoboth Beach, Delaware and St. Michaels, MD until he moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1992. Curtis grew up on the water and around boats through many years of fishing, sailing and hunting up and down the East Coast of the U.S. and The Bahamas.

While attending Washington College, in Chestertown, Maryland, Curtis decided to obtain his real estate license and joined his father’s real estate firm, Anderson-Stokes Realtors. Curtis became president of the firm after his father’s death and led the company through its expansion to 20 offices and expanded the publicly traded company into insurance, advertising and development. The company was sold in 1991 and Curtis decided to pursue his real love of the water and made yachting his career.

Curtis’ yachting career includes everything from a 75’ Trumpy to a 180’ Feadship, 2½ circumnavigations and a half dozen Atlantic Ocean crossings. He has been associated with and enjoyed worldwide cruising on such well known vessels as EXCELLENCE, FIFFANELLA, OUR TOY, MOECCA, RENEGADE, KISSES and HUNTRESS. Curtis also gained experience as sales manager at Hatteras Yachts, in New Bern, NC, where he helped develop and sell new models and train and coordinate his dealer network.

Curtis then spent six years as a very successful yacht sales broker with The Sacks Group Yachting Professionals, Inc. Curtis was consistently a top producer at the firm. Curtis decided to form his own yacht sales and charter firm September 1, 2009, which took off on a very successful start, even in a recession! Curtis has grown the company to multiple offices and 50 full time sales associates located around the US; and he has sold virtually every type and size of yacht and boat possible.

Curtis held a USCG 3000 ton All Oceans Master license, UK MCA Class IV Master certificate, Cayman Islands Master certificate and a PADI Divemaster certificate. He is also a former Emergency Medical Technician, firefighter and CPR instructor. 

Curtis is an active member of the America’s Great Loop Cruiser Association (AGLCA), Superyacht Society, United States Superyacht Association, Marine Trawler Owner Association (MTOA), DeFever Cruiser Club, Seven Seas Cruising Association, Billfish Foundation, International Gamefish Association and Ducks Unlimited.

A $50 million private island that's a 10-minute boat ride off the coast of Florida just hit the market. Take a look.

• A 7-acre private island off Florida's coast is on sale for $50 million.
• Black's Island has a private resort with 26 waterfront bungalows.
• The owner is open to selling the entire island or some of the bungalows, starting at $1.5 million.

If owning a private island is a personal dream for you, you're in luck — a 7-acre private island located just 3 miles off the coast of Florida just hit the market and could be all yours for $50 million.

Black's Island is located in Saint Joseph Bay and just south of Port St. Joe on Florida's panhandle. The island was named for Samuel "Black Sam" Bellamy, who is known as the wealthiest pirate in history.

The island hosts its own private resort, complete with 26 waterfront bungalows as well as common areas like a clubhouse, cabana, and pool, according to the sale listing. The structures are connected via an elevated boardwalk that runs along the center of the island.

Black's Island currently hosts short-term rentals with the help of a management company and full-time staff on the island, which is accessible via a 10-minute boat ride from the mainland, or by seaplane and helicopter.

From the dock on the mainland, the Panama City Beach International Airport is an hour-and-twenty-minute drive away. A smaller airport for those flying in on a private jet is only 25 minutes away.

"You're only 3 miles off the mainland, and you seriously feel like you're in the islands," Lori Bembry Weldon, one of the listing brokers at Jon Kohler & Associates, told Business Insider, adding, "It's really super cool. There's just nothing like it on the coast of Florida that's available."

If you can't quite swing the $50 million price tag, you may still have a chance to get a slice of the island life .

In addition to listing the entire island for sale, the owner has also listed several of the individual bungalows . Weldon said the owner, Atlanta developer Scott Seymour, is open to selling the entire island or just some of the bungalows — so it will ultimately depend on what potential buyers are interested in.

In this scenario, Weldon said the setup would be similar to a condo homeowners' association. The bungalows, which start at $1.5 million, would be purchased under a 99-year lease, and there would be a $25,000-a-year HOA fee to cover taxes, insurance, repairs, and utilities, including upkeep for all the common areas.

Weldon also said in the case of individual bungalow sales, pre-approved title insurance and lenders have already been set up, so potential buyers would not have to worry about getting insurance — an increasing problem in Florida .

The bungalows, which were first built in 2009, were remodeled when Seymour bought the island in 2018. Weldon said that in addition to renting out the bungalows, he also frequently spends time on the island.

Seymour is also currently building a $20 million hotel on the mainland where anyone who purchases a bungalow will be able to park. The hotel is also set to be named after the infamous pirate and will be called The Bellamy.
