While it is standard to charter a yacht on a weekly basis, you can certainly select a charter to do otherwise. Sail for less than a week or longer.

How many guests can I bring aboard my yacht charter?

To rent a charter bareboat means to be without a crew or occasionally, without a skipper. A bareboat charter indicates that you plan on skippering and navigating the vessel yourself.

Is it customary to tip the captain and the crew?

It is not an obligation to tip the captain or the crew and is solely voluntary. If you find that crewmembers and the captain have performed exceptionally, and you would like to tip, it is customary to tip 10% to 15% of the total charter amount on your last sailing day.

To whom do I give the tip to?

It is advisable that if you so choose to give a tip to the crew, that you gift the money directly to the captain. By doing so, you will avoid causing discord amongst crewmembers and ensure that each crewmember receives an equal amount of the tip.

Can my guests and I enjoy all of the yacht’s amenities while on board?

Yes, you and your guests are welcomed to enjoy all of the amenities while on board your luxury yacht charter and are encouraged to do so.

What is my charter rate?

Your charter rate will be quoted per week, but if you wish to sail for a longer or shorter amount of time, please consult your yacht broker for rate pricing.

Are there costs that my charter rate does not immediately list upfront?

There will be costs that are not included in the charter rate that must be calculated at the conclusion of your trip. These costs can include fuel, VAT, provisions, and marina, harbor, or canal fees.

What is the cancelation policy?

Different contracts have varying policies on cancelation. The MYBA contract dictates that the owner can decidedly retain your deposit or the entirety of your charter fee. If I have paid the entire charter fee before indicating a cancelation, the owner is entitled to retain it but must return the APA.

How do I go about planning land excursions during my luxury yacht vacation?

Your PYC charter consultant will be happy to assist you in planning any excursions and additional activities for you and your guests.

When renting a boat of this type, the size of the yacht is very important since this will determine how long the yacht charter can be. Most 25-meter (82 ft) yachts are chartered on a weekly basis. Shorter private charters are only available in last-minute bookings, or for smaller yachts that do offer daily charter rates. You can also charter yachts with a captain and crew, who take care of every detail to make your holiday an unforgettable experience. Crewed charter yachts allow you and your family or friends to fully enjoy and relax with your dream boat vacation. Check with the owner if the captain and crew are included in the yacht charter prices!

How much does a yacht rental cost?

Yacht rental prices vary depending on your luxury yacht charter choice. Features that make the price vary are the season, size of the yacht, manufacturer, and more! A yacht charter in the low season can cost anywhere from $1,500 a day and $10,000 per week. In high season yacht rental costs from $1,800 per day and $12,487 per week. The price will increase the more luxurious and extravagant you choose your yacht rental to be. For example, megayachts over 165 ft can cost $500,000 or more per week. A yacht charter cost can also have additional and inclusive rates. Depending on the owner´s boat rental offer, the skipper and crew can be included or be an additional cost. Just imagine your luxury yacht charter with delicious food and drinks for your whole family to enjoy. Each charter experience is different so speak to the owner of the boat for more information on what is included in the price and what type of yacht you are looking for.

What does a yacht charter rate include and what additional fees can I expect to pay?

For one-week megayacht charters, the price is usually given without Taxes. Taxes range significantly by destination and will vary if more than one country is visited. You will also need to pay for an estimated running of expenses paid by an Advance Provisioning Allowance, or APA. Expenses include fuel (the largest cost in yacht rentals), food and beverages, port fees, etc. APA typically accounts for between 25% and 35% of the charter price, and with it, the captain will pay all holiday expenses. Whatever is not used will be returned to the customer after the charter. Finally, you will need to consider the tip for the crew, which is a percentage of the rental price, approximately 10% in Europe and 15% in the US. This is highly recommended since a professional and trained crew has a direct impact on the success of the holidays.

Do I need a license to charter a yacht?

If you want to be the one who sails the yacht, you will need the Yachtmaster Ocean license or the equivalent, depending on the country. However, if you want to sail in luxury and comfort you can charter the yacht with a captain and crew. On the Nautal platform, yachts over 50 ft are chartered with a captain, except for some yacht charters located in Croatia. This is because the yachts are very expensive and the risk of damage for the owner is very high. Also during the high season, the yacht owners often cannot get them repaired easily without an advanced booking.

Our week at sea with David was spectacular. There were two couples that shared the boat with David and two crew. From the moment we stepped on the boat we felt welcomed. The places David chose to take us were epic. We asked for quiet beaches and hidden places and David knew them all. His relationship with the locals on the islands brought an intimacy we didn’t expect . It was my husband’s birthday and a local restaurant even baked him a cake. The food on board was great and had lovely presentation. The weather was rough our week at sea however David quickly handled any situation that arose without hesitation or stress. I felt safe the entire week. The biggest bonus of the week was meeting his daughter Jeanne, who was crewing for him for internship hours. She was utterly delightful!!! Thank you David - See you again on your new boat .

Top and superb rental! We rented the boat for our valentine’s trip and it was wonderful - the weather also played along (although a bit cloudy/windy in the morning), but again it was February :) Carlos was very helpful and responsive to organizing our rental, and Toni who welcomed us in the harbor, gave us top diving and snorkeling tips. He was also very responsive throughout the day!

So, I decided to pass my professional license to be able to take people out on the water in Mallorca.

The service that I offer is simple charters without skipper, because many people own a boat license, and our vessels are easy to handle. We are starting private excursions where we can take people on the boats to places they could not go to by themselves.

Most of the profits we make are spent on fleet upgrades. I always like to remember how thankful renters are when they are satisfied with our service.
