Kerry McReynolds Appeared in Season 1 of 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' — Where Is She Now?

Loyal viewers of Below Deck Sailing Yacht are bound to remember Kerry McReynolds , a retail sales manager who boarded the Parsifal III as a primary charter guest alongside some of her closest friends, like Dino Cresci and Mark Nitsche, in Season 1.

Kerry immediately garnered popularity thanks to her infectious optimism and daring spirit. The stage IV cancer patient had proven to everybody that no matter how tough the going gets, it's always possible to have fun.

Kerry McReynolds appeared in Season 1 of 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht.'

Kerry was first diagnosed with breast cancer aged 43. She had one breast removed, a GoFundMe page states. For a while, it seemed that the treatment was successful.

Things took a turn for the worse three years after Kerry received the initial breast cancer diagnosis, according to the GoFundMe page. By that point, the cancer spread to her liver. By the time she appeared on Below Deck Sailing Yacht , she was fighting stage IV cancer.

Kerry refused to let the condition get in her way. As loyal viewers of Below Deck Sailing Yacht will remember, she was determined to make her life as rich as possible.

Her warrior mentality and carefree spirit deeply resonated with the crew of Parsifal III and viewers alike, many of whom were vocal about their admiration for Kerry.

"It's astonishing to me that Kerry has got cancer. She is still such a positive and vibrant person," a deckhand named Chris Miller explained in a confessional. "I have always been a positive guy and this is just a reminder that no matter how s--tty your life can be there are always things to be happy about."

"Considering Kerry's health condition her attitude is so positive. That takes so much strength," chief stew Jenna MacGillivray said. "I've had personal experience with my dad dying of cancer and I will bust my a-- to make sure that this is the best trip of her life."

During her time on the yacht, Kerry also tried the hot dog floats, showcased her impeccable diving techniques, and enjoyed other treats — like watching a shirtless Paget Berry serve a cake.

What happened to Kerry since the filming of 'Below Deck Sailing Yacht' wrapped up?

The creators of Below Deck Sailing Yacht shared a health update in 2020.

As they revealed, Kerry continued to fight against cancer after the filming of Season 1 wrapped, likely in 2019.

"[Kerry is] still hanging in there," the producers told The Daily Dish . "It's hard going through cancer treatments and abiding by the extra precautions needed during the pandemic."

The producers' announcement marked one of the last times Kerry's fight against cancer was addressed in a public capacity. Some websites published an obituary in March 2021. But that appears to be false. A new video featuring Kerry and friends was posted by an Instagram user named @nellcoterevival (Kerry and Sheila) on Sunday, June 13, 2021.

Jenna MacGillivray was particularly touched by Kerry’s story. Jenna said: “Considering Kerry’s health condition her attitude is so positive, that takes so much strength”.

Jenna’s dad died of cancer over four years ago and she reflected during the episode : “ I think that sadly once we’re gone, your memory fades pretty quickly and I don’t want to think so much about what I’m going to leave, I want to think about what’ll do while I’m here “.

She wanted to ensure that Kerry had the best trip possible.

Below deck: everything to know about guests barrie & tony.

Barrie and Tony Drewitt Barlow brought their relatives along on Below Deck Sailing Yacht,. The two charter guests are known for making LGBTQ+ history.

Barrie and Tony Drewitt Barlow are Below Deck Sailing Yacht charter guests that fans of the show want to learn more about. They have a fascinating background that impacted U.K. history. However, they also had awkward drama. Thanks to these contrasting elements, these guests were memorable additions to the series.

Episodes featuring the Below Deck season 2 stars showed a different sort of trouble in paradise. It turned out that kids could be very fussy eaters. Chef Natasha De Bourg, who said that she is often underestimated because she is pretty, had trouble serving the large family due to all the requests. This strained her relationship with chief stew Daisy Kelliher. It didn't help that Barrie had taken up with his daughter Saffron Drewitt Barlow's ex Scott, and welcomed another child into their relationship. In fact, his marriage with Tony broke up because he was having an affair with his daughter's ex. Saffron drew a line in the sand about Barrie and Scott kissing in front of her. Traveling on a ship with her family proved to be really awkward, especially since Scott was there as well.

Barrie & Tony Were Fascinating Below Deck Sailing Yacht Guests

Barrie and Tony from the Below Deck franchise are a landmark couple. After a law was passed that legitimized LGBTQ+ marriage, they were the first pair of officially recognized gay dads in the United Kingdom. They have five children, and the future reality stars started their parenthood journey by having a set of twins who were conceived with a surrogate mother in Los Angeles. During that time period, gay men generally did not pursue this avenue, and adoption systems had ingrained biases against LGBTQ+ couples. Joining forces with a surrogate mother helped to set a precedent for other people who wanted to go the same route.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht's Tony & Barrie's Family Kept Growing

While the couple from Below Deck Sailing Yacht decided to sail through Croatia on the nautical reality series, they eventually stopped being romantic partners, but their separation was amicable. They maintain that their relationship became friendly, rather than romantic. The two chose to focus on being good parents. Barrie is with his daughter's ex, and Saffron has stated that she would rather not know details about their romance, as Barrie has no filter. Barrie has admitted that it's weird how he has fallen for someone half his age. Nevertheless, they're all maintaining relationships with one another.

Barrie and Scott's baby is named Valentina Willow Drewitt-Barlow, and she was born in October 2020. Tony had throat cancer in the early 2000s. Unfortunately, it returned in 2018. During his treatment, Tony fell for a nurse named Brent, who is significantly younger than him, and a very devoted partner. Part of the reason he signed on as a Below Deck Sailing Yacht charter guest is the fact that Tony wanted to spend every precious moment with his family, including his ex and children.

The two, along with their partners, needed to adjust to spending so much time together. Though they were still present in each other's lives, they did not want to be romantic partners. Barrie, who seemingly flirted with just about anyone, played a dangerous game. Tony was gracious, but it was unclear if his partner Scott was as patient with Barrie's personality. Barrie flirting with Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 2 crew member Jean-Luc Cerza Lanaux, right in front of Scott, may have reminded Scott of why Tony and Barrie ended their romantic relationship.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht charter guest Kerry McReynolds: Producers share update on her cancer battle

Kerry McReynolds was a charter guest with cancer on Below Deck Sailing Yacht.

Kerry McReynolds is one of the most memorable charter guests this season on Below Deck Sailing Yacht because of her cancer battle and positive life perspectives.

Bravo producers recently gave fans an update on Kerry , who viewers know was battling Stage 4 cancer. Kerry spent the trip embracing everything that life had to offer.

How is Kerry doing today?

The Bravo show was filmed months ago. Producers gave fans an update on Kerry’s cancer battle during an enhanced version of her episode this week.

Kerry is still hanging in there. The coronavirus pandemic has added another challenger for her. Having to receive cancer treatments and abide by the extra precautions during the current health climate is not easy to navigate.

Based on an update on a GoFundMe page for Kerry promoting her appearance on Below Deck Sailing Yacht, Kerry is hoping to start an experimental trial soon.

She has not officially been accepted, but her odds look good.

Kerry’s memorable charter

Several charter guests have left an impression on the inaugural season of Below Deck Sailing Yacht. The Long Island bros and the ladies posing naked on the beach are the first to come to mind.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Below Deck (@belowdeckbravo)

However, fans remember those two groups for different reasons than Kerry. She is being praised for her positive outlook as she battled cancer.

Fans would never have known Kerry’s struggle if it hadn’t been revealed in Captain Glenn Shephard’s preference sheet meeting.

It was the guest’s mission to honor and celebrate Kerry’s life on the trip, so the crew pulled out all the stops to make sure Kerry and her friends had the best yachting experience.

The guests enjoyed riding around on a hot dog float, watching the crew do a pajama fashion, and had Paget Berry deliver a birthday in nothing but his undies.

Chief stew Jenna MacGillivray felt a special connection to Kerry because of her later. The two had a heartfelt chat that left Jenna in awe of the guest.

Fans may not like Jenna, but she did go out of her way to make the trip extra special.

The impact Kerry McReynolds left on the Below Deck Sailing Yacht cast was evident by the tears in some of their eyes as the group disembarked the yacht.

She will go down as one of the most inspirational guests to appear on any installment of the hit Bravo franchise.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht airs Mondays at 9/8c on Bravo.

The Nicest & Most Considerate Below Deck Charter Guests

By Amy DeVore

Captain Lee Rosbach, Kate Chastain

Below Deck is a yachting-based series filled with affluent charter guests. Most of these high-paying clients arrive with very specific demands. When these demands are not met, the guests are known to throw fits .

That said, there have been a handful of guests over the years that have shown high levels of patience, even when their lives or onboard circumstances were met with challenges.

In honor of these individuals and the marks they’ve left on the series (and the world), here is a recap of the nicest and most considerate Below Deck charter guests thus far.

Below Deck Mediterranean’s Ashley Brinton

Below Deck Mediterranean ‘s Season 4 charter guests, Dan and Sheree Funsch, listed on their preference sheets a very specific request. While onboard, they desired for their daughter, Ashley Brinton , to film a music video with the help of the crew.

Right off the bat, the Sirocco super yacht crew feared that this would be a stressful charter with an entitled family.

The crew, however, was wrong.

This group walked onboard displaying a tightly knit, supportive family unit. In addition, each member within showed thankfulness for everything that the crew did during their charter.

At the age of 18, Ashley was the opposite of entitled. Her manners were impeccable and her gratitude towards the crew was overflowing.

In return, the entire crew happily helped Ashley with the shooting, lighting and the water toys that were needed for her music video. In fact, Ashley still keeps in touch with Hannah Ferrier , Aesha Scott , and Anastasia Surmava . “All of the crew was amazing,” Ashley recalled.

Sadly, two years post charter, Ashley announced that she had been diagnosed with CML Leukemia. As seen on Below Deck Mediterranean, Ashley’s consideration for others once again emerged.

To aid with comfort during treatments, Ashley started a merchandise line called Chemobabes .

Our thoughts are with Ashley as she continues to fight.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht’s Kerry McReynolds

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Chris Harrington (@travelingmrtiki)

Below Deck Sailing Yacht ‘s Season 1 primary guest, Kerry McReynolds , chartered the yacht with her closest friends “to honor and celebrate her life and legacy” while battling stage 4 cancer, Captain Glenn Shephard read during the initial preference sheet meeting.

Chief Stew Jenna MacGillivray immediately felt a bond with Kerry, as her father battled cancer before his passing. “Considering Kerry’s health condition, her attitude is so positive. That takes so much strength,” Jenna said, adding “I’ve had personal experience with my dad dying of cancer, and I will bust my ass to make sure this is the best trip of her life.”

Throughout Kerry’s episode , her kindness never wavered. She displayed gratitude for each and every effort put forth from the crew. On-air, Kerry could even be seen uplifting several crew members as they worked, when she wasn’t on a water toy or flipping off of the side of the vessel.

When Kerry departed the sailing yacht, everyone from the crew to the producers shed tears, thankful for the reminders on living life fully.

On Feb 9, 2022, Kerry’s battle ended.

However, Kerry’s kindness, consideration for others, and zeal for life will live on indefinitely.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht’s Lane Merrifield

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lane Merrifield (@lanemerrifield)

Below Deck Sailing Yacht’s Season 4 introduced viewers to Lane Merrifield , a multi-millionaire entrepreneur. Lane charted the Parsifal III for his closest friends with the sole purpose of celebrating his engagement to his girlfriend, Amanda Bourke .

In his preference sheet , Lane asked for a molecular gastronomy meal and a sail. However, due to extremely windy conditions, Captain Glenn had to deny Lane’s sailing request.

This type of news has sent many Below Deck guests of seasons past into hysterics. Lane, however remained positive.

Choosing fun, Lane included the crew in activities like a “sailors versus pirates” relay race and a “hurricane” drinking game. Lane also supplied the costumes and a winner’s trophy. The Below Deck Sailing Yacht crew appeared to enjoy every second of Lane’s charter.

While saying his goodbyes, Lane then turned towards Chef Marcos Spaziani , who had been grieving the loss of his best friends mother the entire charter. Here, Lane spoke words of life, expressing that he expects to see a Michelin star by Marcos’s name in the very near future.

On his departure, Lane presented the crew with $23,000, their largest tip of the season.

Below Deck’s David and Jackie Siegel

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Jackie Siegel❤️?? (@therealqueenofversailles)

Below Deck has seen many gracious guests throughout its (currently) 10 seasons run. That said, one couple in particular showered the franchise’s beloved Captain Lee Rosbach with compassion, as the three “belong to a club that nobody else wants to belong to.”

During their Season 8 charter, David Siegel and his wife Jackie Siegel entered Captain Lee’s wheelhouse. As they conversed, Captain Lee shared that he had just lost his son, Joshua Lee Rosbach , to an opioid addiction. This was the first time that Captain Lee spoke on-air of his son’s death , and as his voice cracked, the Siegel’s leaned in with love.

Speaking in a tone of understanding, the Siegels then shared that their daughter, Victoria Siegel , also lost her life to an opioid addiction just a few years prior to Joshua’s death.

Understanding the crushing weight that he was under, the Siegel’s asked Captain Lee to join them for dinner. As the stewardesses served, the conversations at the table were soft, kind, and filled with support. When Captain Lee stated that every day is an emotional battle, David expressed, “we’re going to help you through it.”

In a rare sighting, an emotional Captain Lee told the cameras “it helps to talk to somebody that’s been there, and knows what I feel.”

Captain Lee’s friendship and support within this tragic club still holds firm, as the three remain in contact post charter.

As the Below Deck series continues to expand, hopefully, more stories like these will emerge. Until then, cheers to kindness, as we all sail through the waves of this life together.

Here’s What the Cast of Below Deck Sailing Yacht Is Currently Up to Now

Are Jenna and Adam still together?

below deck sailing yacht season 1

From a spontaneous proposal failing spectacularly to a joke about being breastfed as an adult, Sailing Yacht was as much a dramatic success as the other franchises. It also left fans wondering about what's happening to the crew since the show wrapped. Did chief stew Jenna and chef Adam stay together? What's going on with Georgia's music? And most important—is Captain Glenn really as cool as we think he is?

Here's what the cast of Below Deck: Sailing Yacht is up to now:

Jenna MacGillivray

When the Canadian stepped onto the Parsifal III, fans got exactly what they hoped for in a chief stew—a no-nonsense leader who also had a romantic spot in her heart for the chef in the galley. Though her relationship with Adam Glick proved to be tumultuous, the two dated for some time after the season wrapped, even taking some time to road-trip together.

These days, Jenna is enjoying some time off from yachting, but given her recent IG pics, she's excited to come back to another charter season.

Madison Stalker

Wherever Madison went, drama always seemed to follow the second stew during season one of Below Deck: Sailing Yacht . In between epic meltdowns (including a major one between her and Jenna over her lack of enthusiasm for her job), she left the boat a better person and leaving fans ready to see more from their new favorite cast member.

Judging by her Instagram account, she's taken a break from yachting (perhaps until next season of the show).

Georgia Grobler

As good of a third stew Georgia was on deck, fans were more invested in her budding music career and growing feelings for a very taken Paget. She proved she was great at her job and could make a career out of yachting.

While it's unclear whether she stayed in the yachting industry post- Sailing Yacht , Georgia's working on music, premiering new music videos on IGTV during the quarantine.

Below Deck Med fans were so excited when Adam joined the crew as the chef for Sailing Yacht . While he abided by the preference sheets this time around, he also began a rocky romance with chief stew Jenna, making most of the crew members wonder if he was there for his job or the girl.

Since the show wrapped, Adam's busy onshore, cooking, and traveling with his adorable puppy. Oh, and Adam has a web series, Stoked , where he travels across the country to meet with local chefs and learn about their regions... all while over a campfire.

Paget Berry and Ciara Duggan

If there was any couple to root for from the entire Below Deck franchise, it's Paget and Ciara. The duo made a great team on deck, and mostly kept their relationship to a minimum on cameras—a first for Bravo! As they were the most familiar with the Parsifal III, the couple was the most reliable, and fans loved seeing their relationship continue blossoming post-filming.

These days, the couple has a lot to be excited about—they're now engaged. While they're soaking up their romantic bliss, they're also still working in yachting, although it's sadly on separate boats.

Byron Hissey

As the chief engineer of Parsifal III, Byron was clearly there to just do his job. But, given how he was the only cast member to have a wife and child back home, he also became the dad of the group, taking care of the other crew members.

Since filming wrapped, it looks like Byron is back on a boat doing exactly what he does best—fixing and making sure the engines run smoothly.

Parker McCown

Relatively new to the yachting industry, fans are more likely to remember the deckhand for his enraged rant about being breastfed by his mother. While he didn't necessarily have all the skills to make it as a deckhand, he definitely had a soft spot for his ex-girlfriend Kaiti, whom he eventually left Parsifal III to go back to at home.

It looks like the decision to leave the show worked out for Parker, as he's now engaged to Kaiti and writing some tunes while onshore.

Chris Miller

As Parker's replacement for the latter half of the season, Chris proved a great deckhand and an asset to the team, all while battling an injury.

These days, Chris seems to be taking some time off from yachting to travel across Europe.

Captain Glenn Sheppard

Captain Glenn was tough, fair, and not afraid to have a good time, which both crew and guests very much appreciated.

Thankfully, his reality TV experience hasn't turned him off yachting forever. Glenn is still the captain for Parsifal III and traveling through the Mediterranean.

Below Deck Loses 2 Crewmembers After a Firing and a Dramatic Season 11 Departure

Below deck 's capt. kerry titheradge fired the first season 11 yachtie during the bravo series' march 18 episode, but that wasn't the only shocking departure. find out who else left the yacht..

The  St. David  is down not one, but two crewmembers.

During Below Deck 's March 18 episode, Captain Kerry Titheradge  fired the first season 11 yachtie when he let Bosun Jared Woodin go for unprofessional behavior, the last straw being an inebriated Jared barging into Stew Barbie Pascual 's cabin the night prior and yelling at Deckhand Kyle Stillie for leaving a mess of loose tobacco on the deck after a night of partying.

"This is the second time you've gone on the piss and you've had bad behavior," Kerry told his subordinate. "You're in a leadership role. You can't be acting like that. You gotta be above the fray. The way that you're treating these guy is not acceptable."

But it wasn't just the alcohol that was the problem, as Kerry noted Jared's mental state wasn't where it needed to be. "You've got s--t going on, man," he shared. "You're your own worst enemy right now. You need to depart the vessel."

However, Jared agreed his head wasn't in the right place and accepted his termination graciously.

"This ain't the right place for me at the right time," Jared replied, to which Kerry responded, "I don't blame you for that. Take this time and work on yourself. Me keeping you here is a disservice to you."

Before departing the super-yacht, Jared reflected in a confessional, "I thought I was in a good headspace coming into this. I'm really not. And as much as I'd like to be I'm just lying to myself."

But Jared wasn't the only teammate to set sail during the latest episode. Stew Cat Baugh willingly left the ship after admittedly struggling with the job all season long.

"I really wanna push through for you guys," Cat, in tears, told Chief Stew Fraser Olender after receiving a very distressing call from a friend back home in America. "I'm just losing my mind right now."

And Fraser totally understood his crewmember's needs.

In a confessional, Fraser elaborated, "I don't know what is going on, but you can look into someone's eyes sometimes and see that there is no more that they can give. They are going through enough to be incapable and I need to do what's right for her. "

See how the crew copes with the unexpected departures when Below Deck airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on Bravo. And keep reading to look back at the most shocking Below Deck firings ever.

If there's one thing to learn from Camille Lamb 's Below Deck firing, it's to not slack off on the job. That's exactly why the season 10 stew was let go by substitute Captain Sandy Yawn , as Chief Stew Fraser Olender continued to criticize Camille's behavior on board.

From being caught drinking while preparing for a new charter to partying at late hours and more, Fraser informed Captain Sandy that he had reached his "last straw."

"She's the common denominator in all of this," said Captain Sandy. "Great girl, great personality, but at the same time, we have to do what's best for the boat."

Below Deck Adventure 's Kyle Dickard was let go just three episodes into the reality franchise's latest series—which premiered in November 2022. After picking fights with his fellow deckhand Nathan Morley —as well as kissing crew mates in front of guests—Kyle was offered by Captain Kerry Titheradge the opportunity to resign so that his firing would not end up on his personal record.

Kyle took the Captain up on his offer and left the boat after just one charter.

Captain Sandy let bosun Raygan Tyler go during season seven of Below Deck Mediterranean ,  not only for causing the boat to  take a small hit while docking, but also for not stepping up to the plate as a leader.

But Captain Sandy didn't want her firing to discourage the bosun, as she told Raygan, "If I had the time and I wasn't running a boat this size, I would train you. I would teach you."

In addition to onboard romances and failing to follow directions , one of the biggest reasons behind stew Elizabeth Frankini 's Below Deck firing was her infamous laundry room accident , during which made a toxic mess when combining bleach and laundry soap.

"Unfortunately, I didn't know that was so toxic and I feel so bad about it," she told E! News of the incident in December 2020 . "You know, I do feel really bad, especially 'cause Francesca [ Rubi ] did say, 'Take it outside.'"

The bosun and stew were both fired by Captain Jason Chambers for inappropriate behavior after a night of partying with their fellow yachties.

Luke Jones was let go after getting into Stew Margot Sisson 's bed naked while she was drunk and unconscious. Laura Bileskaine also made unwanted advances on Deckhand Adam Kodra despite him telling her he was not interested in hooking up.

Jason made it known that consent was a must, and sent both crewmembers packing.

Tensions between stew Lexi Wilson and Chef Mathew Shea came to a head during an explosive dinner fight on season six of Below Deck Mediterranean , during which Lexi told Matt that his parents "should've aborted you." That was the last straw for Captain Sandy, who fired her not long after the incident.

Deckhand Tom Pearson said "bon voyage" to Below Deck Sailing Yacht after getting let go by Captain Glenn Shephard . Tom hit his last strike with the Captain after failing to report that the boat's anchor was dragging during heavy winds one night, causing a potential safety risk for everyone on board.

"It had to be done. It was such a grievous thing that he dropped the ball there, he had to go, and we had to just be man down and live with it, you know?" Captain Glenn said of the decision  on Watch What Happens Live. "So, obviously, you don't want to do that, but yeah, it had to happen."

Some people are picky eaters, but Below Deck Down Under' s Ryan McKeown was quite the picky chef, as he would judge guests'  food requests  and fail to take  criticism from Captain Jason Chambers , as well.

Perhaps Ryan's Below Deck exit is one of the franchise's most memorable, as he mooned Jason and viewers on his way off the boat.

Below Deck Down Under stew Magda Ziomek 's firing was another case of slacking on the job. After constantly being on her phone texting or video chatting with her boyfriend, Chief Stew Aesha Scott decided to replace Magda before the end of the charter season.

Below Deck Mediterranean 's Peter Hunziker was fired from the series in June 2020 after he shared an offensive post on social media.

"Peter Hunziker of Below Deck Mediterranean has been terminated for his racist post," Bravo wrote in a statement at the time. "Bravo and 51 Minds are editing the show to minimize his appearance for subsequent episodes."

Chief Stew Hannah Ferrier was let go by Captain Sandy on Below Deck Mediterranean after boson Malia White discovered her co-star possessed undeclared Valium and a vape pen, the former of which Hannah claimed was for her anxiety.

"If I could do it all over again, I would've just declared them as soon as I came on board," Hannah stated in an August 2020 interview with E! News. "It was definitely not something that was intentional. I wasn't trying to hide anything.

Below Deck Mediterranean 's Delaney Evans left just as quickly as she arrived. After initially being brought on during season six to help out Chief Stew Katie Flood , Katie determined that Delaney was doing more harm than good, choosing to let her go after just one charter.

"I think she was overwhelmed with the situation, and I think that, you know, in her mind, the best solution to the situation was just to go back to what they had before," Delaney told Bravo Insider of Katie's decision. "I think she was just overwhelmed with everything that was going on and all the feedback she was getting."

Deckhand Shane Coopersmith was a bit in over his head on season eight of Below Deck , as he was let go for failing to know basic skills, reporting late for duty and taking naps on the job.

Chaos in the kitchen led to Captain Lee Rosbach letting Chef Leon Walker go on season three of Below Deck . After an oven fire broke out , Lee placed the blame on Chief Stew Kate Chastain but was ultimately the one sent home.

Like several of the franchise's stars, Below Deck 's Chris Brown  was fired  during season five for failing to fully perform his duties. After being let go by Captain Lee, Chris shared some parting words as he left the boat, stating , "Who gives a s--t?"

Chef Mila Kolomeitseva was fired by Captain Sandy on season four of Below Deck Mediterranean after failing to use her cooking skills to produce top-quality food for guests—including some not-so-nice nachos .

"Of course it makes me feel awful," Mila said of her departure . "People like me who have big egos sometimes have to be put down to earth a little bit. But it makes me feel like I want to work even harder."

Sometimes people just don't work well together. That's exactly why Captain Lee fired Chandler Brooks during season six of Below Deck , telling the boson, "I don't think it's a good fit."

‘Below Deck’ Sails Into a New Era

With a different captain at the helm and new production elements, the reality show about charter yachts is switching up its style.

A man in a crew member suit stands behind a bar and tends to flowers in a vase.

By Shivani Gonzalez

Starting a new season of “ Below Deck ” can be similar to returning to summer camp as a kid — you know it’s going to be fun and that you’ll be in the same environment, but some of the people will be different and you’re not quite sure what the vibes will be.

This time around, in particular, feels that way because for the first time in the show’s 11-season run, Captain Lee Rosbach is no longer at the helm. It’s a pivotal moment for a franchise that has become one of the most popular entities in the sprawling universe of reality TV since premiering on Bravo in 2013 . The show’s appeal was built on endless romances between various crew members (“boatmances,” as they came to be known), horrible charter guests and some sort of passive-aggressive fight about how many shackles of the anchor chain should be in the water. And there was always Rosbach presiding over the drama as he trudged around the boat, reeling off one liners like “I’m madder than a pissed-on chicken” and “we screwed the pooch so many times we should have a litter of puppies running around.”

At the center of the show now is Kerry Titheradge (the stern yet goofy captain of “Below Deck Adventure” fame), who is managing the Motor Yacht Saint David with the cheeky chief stew Fraser Olender by his side.

With that change in captain, the energy on the boat — both onscreen and off — is different, according to Olender.

“Lee has a no B.S. attitude, which I love with him,” Olender said in an interview. “With Kerry, he taught me a lot and sort of forced to me confront issues directly with my team, work them out, as opposed to making executive decisions too soon.”

This shift in management style changes the central conflict — whereas the drama once focused on the captain swiftly kicking out any unpleasant crew member (as we might have seen with Rosbach), the drama now focuses on the whole crew trying to get along (since Titheradge gives people those second chances).

Additionally, Olender noted that the captain’s relationship with the crew can also affect the drama on board.

“Captains absolutely do get involved, whether they know it or not,” Olender said, adding that for the crew, everything is about “trying to impress your captain.”

This phenomenon plays out early in the new season when the lead deckhand, Ben Willoughby, called out a fellow crew member over the radios about not wearing a life vest — something he easily could have done in private. The drama that followed became an interpersonal conflict between the two of them, both with the ultimate goal of impressing Titheradge. (Of course, the two deckhands had kissed on the previous crew night out, which is more in line with the “Below Deck” drama viewers are used to.)

For “Below Deck” showrunners, the changeovers in the cast allowed them to rethink what the show would look like.

From the season premiere, it was immediately apparent that Rosbach’s absence wasn’t the only change this season: The filming is sleeker, the daily, multicourse meals prepared by the chef are given their own glamour shots and the cameras sometimes cut to the perspectives of yachties running around on deck and through the galley.

“Our showrunner, Lauren Simms, is an avid consumer of all different kinds of media,” Noah Samton, a senior vice president of unscripted current production for NBCUniversal, said in an interview. “She pitches us different ideas on how to stylistically evoke different feelings and change the mood a little bit of ‘Below Deck’ without removing what really works.”

Moving through the rest of the season, and potentially through seasons to come, Olender is aiming to bring a cutthroat management style while also bringing affection for his stews, all with his signature British humor.

On Bravo’s side, there are changes in the works for the other “Below Deck” spinoffs — including “Sailing Yacht,” “Mediterranean” and “Down Under” — which collectively, have 26 seasons. Specifically, Samton said that “Down Under” is currently filming and that even though fans should be ready to see new things, the show will stay true to its original concept.

“These are real yachties doing a real job so you have to stay within those confines because the audience isn’t going to want anything that is too produced or fake,” Samton said. “So we have to find ways to reinvent while staying true to the original concept of the show.”

And as Olender said: “I’m sure that every year if I were to work with this franchise again, that I’ll be thrown a collection of total chaotic and disastrous stews — that’s what makes it watchable.”

An earlier version of this article misquoted Fraser Olender, the chief stew of “Below Deck.” He said, “I also feel like Kerry this season. ... Lee has a no B.S. attitude, which I love with him,” not “I feel like Kerry this season, as opposed to Lee, has a no B.S. attitude, which I love with him.”

About below deck sailing yacht.

Capt. Glenn and his comeback team Daisy Kelliher, Gary King and Colin MacRae resume their responsibilities aboard Parsifal III, along with new, dynamic crew members, as they set sail in Sardinia, Italy.

Capt. Glenn realizes that his laid-back leadership style has allowed his crew to become too comfortable and starts taking charge of quality control in the interior department, much to Daisy's dismay. In the galley, Chef Ilesha's cooking impresses the guests, but her indecisiveness and co-dependency lead to time-management issues between courses, which causes her to self-destruct. On deck, strong personalities collide, and a power struggle results in a near mutiny, as Gary clashes with his new overconfident deckhand, Chase.

Two overlapping love triangles further complicate the dynamics on-board, and a shocking hookup puts Colin, Daisy and Gary’s friendship in jeopardy.

With a near collision, fire, crew rebellion, gruesome guest injury and two different potentially season-ending engine failures, this is the most captivating and unpredictable season yet of Below Deck Sailing Yacht.

Jill Zarin of The Real Housewives of New York City is coming to add some spice to the second half of Below Deck season 11 .

On Monday, Bravo dropped the midseason trailer for the popular reality show and teased the arrival of the RHONY original cast member, 60, who starred on the show from 2008 to 2011. In the clip, Zarin appears as a demanding charter guest who pushes the yacht's staff to their limits.

"This is a buffet meal," Zarin says in the new clip. "It shouldn't be a three-hour meal. Make it better."

She goes on to tell the staff that her "burger's cold," and the video then cuts to Anthony Iracane voicing his confusion and frustration over the situation with the Real Housewives of New York City legend.

"Can I have a translator in the galley, please?" he says. "Because I have no idea what the f**k is going on right now."

ET recently chatted with Fraser Olender and  Barbie "Barbie" Pascual  about the new season and the appearance of Zarin, who Olender referred to as the "most difficult" guest of the entire season.

Meanwhile, Barbie told ET she was overjoyed to see the RHONY alum come on board.

"I was like, 'Jill!' And she was like, 'Do we know each other?'" Barbie said. "I know everything about Jill, so I was so excited to have Jill on board and  she was really high maintenance, but so am I, and she's a Housewife, what do we expect?"

"She was fabulous. I loved her," she added.

The rest of the nearly three-minute trailer promises tears, hookups and a tense moment where Titheradge tells one member of the St. David's staff that they do not have a future working on the yacht.

"I've done everything I can for you to succeed. The issue is, you are not thriving," Titheradge tells a staff member who is not seen on camera. "If you're not all-encompassing, adding value to the rest of the crew, I can't have you here."

Also on board in the last nine episodes of season 11 is a new steward on the St. David who shakes things up for the crew members and the established relationships already underway prior to the new arrival showing up on the scene.

"She's an attractive girl," deckhand Kyle Stillie says.

"Bloody hell, I'm in trouble," adds deckhand Ben Willoughby.

Below Deck  airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on Bravo.

‘RHONY’ Alum Jill Zarin Strikes Fear Into Yachties Everywhere In The ‘Below Deck’ Mid-Season Trailer: “Make It Better!”

Where to stream:, ‘below deck’ bosun ben willoughby teases trouble waters ahead: “i had hard conversations that didn’t go in my favor”, ‘below deck’ star barbie pascual knows her attitude this season was “unnecessary”: “i see what everybody else sees when i watch myself”, ‘below deck’ exclusive clip: fraser olender shocked by primary guest’s meltdown over ice cream.

Below Deck fans know that there is always a point in the season when all hell breaks loose…and it looks like, predictably, the yachties of Season 11 are about to experience some of that pure chaos. In the gripping mid-season trailer for Bravo’s flagship Below Deck series , the crew of the motor yacht St. David is straight-up losing it as it appears that everything is going wrong. Captain Kerry Titheradge encourages his crew to embrace the “ups and downs” of the charters so far, and he reminds his team that they “don’t do [yachting] because it’s easy.” Titheradge’s wise words seem to fall on deaf ears, however. Chef Anthony Iracane breaks down in the very next scene. “I’m so tired,” he says weakly.  Next, we see the distraught chef in his cabin. “I’m not good enough to be on this boat,” he cries as he rubs his head with his hands in despair.

Next to break down is Stew Barbie Pascual , who bemoans the state of her strained working relationship with Chief Stew Fraser Olender . “Everybody here knows there’s shit going between me and Fraser,” Pascual confides as scenes of her stressed-out, crying and scowling at Olender play out. When Olender glares at her during an excursion, Pascual asks him point-blank, “Do you want me to go?” The camera than cuts to Olender’s confessional as he states, “I’d rather have no sleep than have to look at your face every morning.” Way harsh!

After Titheradge is shown raging at Bosun Ben Willoughby for his “blatant disrespect” and Stew Xandi Oliver is seen throwing a fit in the back of a van during a late night out, fans are treated to a montage of the yachties falling down as dramatic music plays. Suddenly, a familiar face appears: the notoriously picky Real Housewives of New York alum Jill Zarin. When Zarin critiques the service (“This is a buffet meal. This shouldn’t be a 3-hour meal”) and urges the staff to “make it better,” the yachties continue scrambling. The trailer also teases the arrival of a mysterious new Stew who catches the eye of both Willoughby and Deckhand Kyle Stillie. “Bloody hell, I’m in trouble,” Willoughby says to the camera as his “shipuationship,” Sunny Marquis, watches his every move.

To add to the mayhem, Pascual’s and Stillie’s relationship seems to be heating up as the two are shown flirting and making out. The trailer ends with a stern looking Titheradge addressing an unseen crew member. “The issue is you’re not thriving,” says Titheradge. “If you’re not all encompassing and adding value to the rest of the crew, I can’t have you here.” So, who is Titheradge addressing? Tune in to the rest of Below Deck Season 11 to find out!

Below Deck Recap: Vibe Time

below deck sailing yacht season 1 guest with cancer

Physics tells us that drama can be neither created nor destroyed. (At least, that was my personal takeaway.) Now that Cat’s gone, it’s like the tension she had with the rest of the interior re-homed itself between Xandi, who has worked almost unceasingly all day, and Barbie, who just needs a sec to lie down and puff on her vape, all right?

Don’t get me wrong: Carriacou looks very nice, but the way the captain has talked about the island for the last episode and a half now had me expecting to take one look at the place, sell all my earthly possessions, buy a one-way plane ticket, and throw myself into my new life as soon as possible. As it is — I think I’m good, thank you. The beach is hard to access, with a strong current in the shallows. While the guests are happily snorkeling and drinking, Kerry and Ben are having a capital-B Bad time. The boat is making an upsettingly crunchy grinding noise thanks to sand getting into the impeller. Fraser, wisely, just keeps on refilling everyone’s Champagne glasses.

Sunset is turning to dark and a storm is blowing in. Captain Kerry makes the call: They need to go back, now. If the boat gets beached, they’ll be stranded overnight. Pretty sure I already saw that episode when it was theatrically released under the title Triangle of Sadness. But getting everyone aboard is not trivial — they have to time it right with the increasingly serious waves rolling in. Lesley, the primary, sort of just launches herself at the stern, prompting Kerry to yell, “No one moves toward the boat till I say so!” That’s the harshest I’ve ever heard him speak to a guest, though it certainly feels justified. Can you do everybody a favor and stay alive, please, at least through the length of the charter?

They make it back to the St. David without any casualties. But there will be a death on the yacht tonight. A murder, in fact. While the guests eat dinner and practice the vaguely British accents that for some reason always feel appropriate for an ambiguously period-y murder mystery (more accurately, they sound like sixth-graders cast as grown-ups in a school play, just sort of speaking more loudly and slowly than usual), the already-understaffed exterior scrambles to ad lib a series of staged clues, with the help of a bunch of random props that Fraser has ordered. The job description for deckhands has expanded considerably.

That’s not to say the interior isn’t doing their part, too. The game begins when Barbie runs into the dining room in a frenzy, screaming, “There’s been a murder!” She is so committed to the bit that she immediately falls over and exposes her whole butt. It is a very auspicious start to the festivities. Fraser is the evening’s Mr. Boddy, our designated corpse. “It’s Fletcher !” someone screams when they come upon him in the stateroom, not far from the murder weapon (a pizza roller).

The clues, (semi-)rhyming couplets, send the guests running all over the boat and they absolutely love it. The crew crushed this — as Ben points out, it’s also helpful that these people are pretty drunk.

What Anthony has in charm he lacks in organizational skills. The galley is even more of a war zone than usual, scattered with eggs (as always, so many eggs; beginning to believe that the yacht’s engine runs on crushed shells), various sauces and condiments (including at least two separate bottles of ketchup), a dirty blender, and more pots and pans than I would have thought were on the boat in total. It takes him until after 3 a.m. to finish cleaning up. Predictably, the next morning, he is totally exhausted. Fraser has to rise to the occasion and actually come up with a breakfast menu, a new responsibility he isn’t thrilled to take on. (Also, I feel like I never comment on the tablescapes except to rag on them, but I actually really like the bright-orange-rimmed plates combined with those swirly green vertical napkins. Go team!)

Our new deckhand finally arrives, birthed from the sea foam like Aphrodite. Dylan, a 23-year-old from Cape Town, has one of the widest smiles possible amid the constraints of human biology and is so hot that he immediately threatens to disrupt the established sexual ecosystem of the boat. He is also, I say this with affection, a complete weirdo. A formerly overweight kid who became extremely fit out of spite, he can now individually pop his pecs, which are named James and Barry. (Why? I assume we will never know.) He also speaks of his fondness for high-fiving strangers while out running. “They won’t understand any of it,” he says. “But they will remember you.” This is precisely how I already feel about Dylan.

Ben’s first docking as bosun goes off beautifully, even in the unwelcome presence of a big-ass cargo ship; I cannot parallel park under the best of terrestrial circumstances, so these people never fail to amaze me. Lesley says a very emotional and grateful good-bye and hands over what looks like a commensurately thick envelope. She tipped $30,000, which works out to a very healthy $2,725 per person (and a prorated $550 for Dylan). Captain Kerry is pleased with their work — A+ charter all around.

Dylan continues to distinguish himself on his first night out with his new co-workers. He tries to convince Kyle to take a shot via his nostril. He explains his theory that déjà vu is just, duh, memories we’ve lived on another of the many timelines we are currently experiencing. “It’s vibe time, baby!” he will later shout on the dance floor. “Vibe time is my time!” (In a confessional, Sunny and Barbie rate him a great potential one-night stand, as long as he doesn’t talk.)

While Kyle helpfully sucks a bug out of Fraser’s drink, and Dylan and Anthony stake their romantic claims on the replacement stew who has not even arrived yet, Ben spends time with Xandi. They’ve gotten a lot closer — she introduced him to her mom on FaceTime as her brother earlier that day. While they’re all out dancing, they hug and they whisper and Ben touches her waist. Sunny is deeply upset when she oversees these interactions, which, by the way, are scored hilariously to a club remix of the “Ride of the Valkyries.”

Was it sort of flirty, touchy-feely? Sure. This is Mr. “ I’m Cheeky, I’m Aussie, It’s Charismatic ” we’re dealing with, after all. But I believe Ben and especially Xandi when they say their relationship is platonic. Everyone knows what jealousy feels like, and it is a certified no-fun experience, so it’s not that I don’t feel for Sunny. But I will note that she recently shared in a confessional that the last time she was in love, she wasn’t actually in a relationship with the person — which, with admittedly zero additional context, does raise some question marks for me surrounding boundaries and expectations. She says Ben is “disrespecting what we have,” which raises the question: What do they have, exactly? Is he her boyfriend? Have they established if they’re dating exclusively? Do they have a clear understanding of what kinds of behaviors are and aren’t okay with the other person?

In happier news, Kyle and Fraser smooch on the van ride home.

Back on the boat, Barbie and Fraser slurringly try to smooth things over with all parties involved, to mixed success. I give Sunny credit for going to Ben directly to share her feelings. For her part, Xandi totally dismisses any possible romantic connection with Ben, because that would be “incestry [ sic ].” But she quickly gets pissed off at the thought that she’d be expected to change how she acts to protect someone else’s self-esteem. “Catch me outside,” she snaps, a phrase I do not believe I’ve heard a human being say aloud since at least 2018.
