Spirit of Malta Catamaran cruise

Spirit of Malta Catamaran- we went in the full day catamaran trip on the Spirit of Malta in early September. I'm not really sure why there are so many negative reviews - I think people need to manage their expectations when paying €55 for a day with lunch and drinks. If you want something more exclusive then there are other companies charging twice the price - you get what you pay for! The crew were fantastic and friendly, the boat was clean, the stops were lovely, music was good, lunch was ample and tastey. The crew gave ample warning of getting wet if you sat at the front of the boat. As we went first week of September I think it was quieter as out of main season and only had around 20 people on board which was lovely. Again though, if you're going in the summer months and school holidays, manage your expectations as it's going to be busy! Want less people? Pay more money on another boat! I would totally do this trip again, it was a lovely way to spend a day in Malta. Well done guys!

We paid just 30 Euros for a 2-day hop-on and hop-off bus ticket. And got a Captain Morgan Harbour Tour thrown in for free. So for us - a few hours spent on a boat; in the sun - cruising around the various harbours and having a guided tour with commentary was a fantastic way to laze way a few holiday hours. This isn't a bucket-list excursion by any means. But if you like to catch a bit of sun, have a few hours of your life organised for you - and love to see and hear about a bit of history on your Holiday. Then hop on the bus and head for the boat !

We done the Gozo and Blue Lagoon boat trip which was good but it seem to be very rushed, you are drove around on mini buses on Gozo and they didnt have enough buses for the amount of people on our boat... 1st stop was ment to be a tomato factory but in reality its a shop were they want u to buy things. And only 45 mins to explore the city centre which is so unrealistic. The Blue Lagoon is lovely but is majorly over crowded. The best bit of the trip was the free beer....

We've booked 2 places for the all day cruise to the Blue Lagoon - it was quite cheap so I'm not surprised that the quality of the cruise was not the best. The boat was almost full, it was challenging to find a place, they were advertising other trips during the journeys (in 4 languages) and taking a photos without asking for permission - I had to ask them to stop (apparently the photos were being sold to the travellers later on...). Generally it was still nicer than taking a bus to the other side of the island and then a boat, but if you can pay more for a quieter cruise it's definitely worth considering. Free drinks on board were nice though (as I was worried about the availability of water).

Firstly taxi was late, then onto boat which was full, sat in like rows like a cinema no room, no where to relax, you couldn’t throw a towel down and sunbathe just had to sit in your seat, if your stuck inside you don’t actually get to see a lot, and the tannoy system is terrible could not understand a word that was said. Landed at blue lagoon, again every trooped off, more like a teenage pool party older people should be warned it’s rocky and uneven and getting in and out is really tricky, really disappointing would not recommend at all. The blue lagoon it’s self is beautiful but totally over populated

As this is one of the more expensive (£55pp) mainstream cruises available, my girlfriend and I descided we would go on this as a treat on our last day in Malta. Having previously been on the Comino Blue lagoon trip, we had something to compare to. This trip is much less crowded and you get plenty of space to lounge around and tan whilst traveling, the crew seem to be much more friendly too. The inclusive drinks seememed to be the same (cheap wine and beer) but still drinkable. The lunch served during our first stop in the Crystal Lagoon was a selection of cold meats, salads and some pastas, nice enough to keep you going for the day. After this we went to the Blue Lagoon, you get around 90 minutes at each location. All in all the trip was very pleasant and in my opinion worth the money. You can get a discount voucher (20%off) for this trip, but you can only redeem this in the official Capitain Morgan office not the sea side booths.

Catamaran - spirit of malta

Really lovely day out with free drinks and buffet lunch included. You’ll get a chance to visit a beautiful grotto and swim around amongst the tiny fish and then on the blue lagoon, a beautiful sandy beach. At each spot you get a decent amount of time there too, so no quick rush around - it’s a full on day! Staff were very friendly too.

spirit of malta catamaran reviews

I didn’t want to go on this trip to begin with as I usually would rather pay a little extra for a private charter, which in the scheme of things, isn’t much more when you add up all the little extras. Something this cheap bring’s on the class of people you expect. Ones with no manners what so ever, filthy and fat. But, I will try not to make this review personal. The food was similar to what I would imagine jail food would be like, to be fair it aligns with the price. There was plenty of it tho. If you’re after quantity, you’ll be satisfied. Compare it to people who use cheap wine to cook with, that’s the food and company. The downstairs area had a smell I could quite single out. It was like, mouldy carpet, soot and poo. That smell progressively evolved and was impossible to diminish like the beast in Seinfeld. The venture out was as you would expect from a boat that captain cook discovered Australia with. Creaky, unstable and closer to relic than a current vessel. They blast over the radio whilst on the way to Comino about this amazing opportunity to go around on a “speed boat” that can take to all the good swimming spots, turns out it’s just a water taxi with everything on board being extremely sharp. The trip it self is like being on a highway, driving past a town and pointing out the window “that’s the crystal lagoon” said the water taxi skipper. “Can we swim” says the majority of passengers. “No, not for swimming” says the amazingly hospitable skipper. Mind you, there were about 30 other boats all around with people swimming. I felt like the poor kids watching the spoilt ones play with their action man figurines at Christmas, whilst I got played with my “Konds” underwear. All up took 13.5mins, bargain. Afterwards, we venture out to a secluded swimming spot which didn’t really have any sort of attraction to it. Water was too deep to see anything, we were also far away from the shore so could venture out and didn’t have enough time. This was the killer part, I was made to listen to Ed Sheeran’s full album including B sides and a full compilation of funeral eulogy songs. I genuinely thought it was a piss take. Then, had to endure other horrendous music that absolutely killed what ever mood was left. Whoever’s playlist that was, must be a real hoot. Would recommend to Ed Sheeran fans, people who are into vintage exploring and the first fleet, people with no friends and people I don’t like.

The service was horrible. We paid for a supposedly “all inclusive” boat trip to Comino. They had no diet/zero drinks available. The food was inedible. The toilets were extremely dirty. Also, the staff members were very arrogant and unhelpful. I do not recommend!

Spirit of Malta Catamaran trip - AMAZING!!!

The most amazing day ever!!! I highly recommend this trip on the catamaran. Probably not a family outing but if you're travelling with a group of friends it is a great day out. You get to see Malta by sea, catch the sun and sail around the islands. We stopped in two places including the blue lagoon to swim and it was a great time! Cannot recommend enough! With food and drink (including wine and beer) all included in the price, it is well worth it!!! Do the optional jet boat trip at the blue lagoon too, it's great!

Avoid the 'Three Island Tour' at all costs as its basically a pack of lies run by a company who appears to have the monopoly on Malta's harbour tours. We were led to believe that we would be dropped off at one of the Islands for a couple of hours sightseeing or shopping ( we weren't ) then on to the Blue Lagoon for the afternoon to do as you please. In actual fact you have about two and a half hours but must fit in your lunch or miss it. There is no access to the lagoon as other company boats had ladders to get in and out of the water....our boat didn't even have the gang plank docked straight so people had to be helped across by the staff!!! Health and safety is not on any of their priorities, totally unbelievable. Yes it was all inclusive of drinks ( red wine in a box) and the cheapest of white wine and beer, so I stuck to water. Lunch was ok better than we anticipated and all the staff were polite and very friendly, the only credit I can give to this horrendous tour. So, if you are after a day of hell on water and an inaudible commentary, the most BORING and longest journey back , this is the one for you. Finally when we returned, the coach we booked to return us to the sanity of our hotel was no where to be seen, it was absolute chaos as all the boats returned together and the guy in charge had about a hundred people all around him demanding their transport. I can' emphasis how bloody awful this so called tour was AVOID, AVOID AVOID.

We had a great time on our Captain Morgan cruise, however there were a few hic-ups along the way. The cruise itself was great and the staff catered for us brilliantly, food was fantastic and service great. Snack to start, then lunch and then fruit before arriving back. However like most things they are trying to get the most out of each trip, therefore there are a lot of people on the cruise, we were lucky we got on first so grabbed a great spot however by the end of loading there seems to be people everywhere. At the blue lagoon it was very busy with other boats and therefore there was no space to jump off and swim you had to walk down from the docked boat to the "beach" area. At our stop for swimming unfortunately there were a lot of jellyfish and therefore we couldn't swim for long and so we boarded and went to a different area for swimming however by this point everyone was ready for the journey home so we stayed onboard. Best advise is there isn't a lot of shade on the boat and as you are enjoying to ocean breeze you don't notice how hot the sun is, so there were a lot of burnt people by the end of the cruise. However I would recommend this cruise rather than any of the others.

We gave up organised trips years ago and having been on the Captain Morgan cruise/tour of Gozo and Comino I remember why! There were hundreds of people on the boat which was late leaving Sliema. The boat was enclosed and only two windows at the back were open so in 35 degrees very uncomfortable. On arriving at Gozo we were transferred to a coach and then subjected to the most amateurish tour. During the 2 hours we had a 15 min stop at a craft shop, an hour for lunch and only a 20 minute stop at the Inland Lagoon and Azure Window. There were craft stalls and somewhere to eat at the Inland Lagoon/Azure Window site so the other stops could have been ditched and given us more time to explore the sites that everyone wants to see on Gozo. On top of that the driver barely spoke whilst driving us around let alone point out things of interest in Gozo or its history. He was actually quite rude threatening to leave people behind if they weren't back on the bus at the stated time when at least one of the stops was pointless. After getting on a different boat to transfer across to Comino for swimming in the Blue Lagoon we then had to get back on the original boat for our journey home, which to round off the day was nearly an hour late leaving. My top tip about this trip - don't bother. Find an alternative way to see Gozo/Comino, as both are beautiful.

A wonderful fun and in addition the acquisition of knowledge. Valletta from the sea is even more beautiful plus bilingual lector tells great stories of Malta.

We booked the Tour "Best of Gozo and Comino", this was our experience: - started with a delay of 30min from Sliema, Malta - 2h going by boat to Gozo - there were too few seats so we had to sit on the ground! - Then a bus waited for us in Gozo. We did a 2h tour on Gozo, but with NO explanation at all. We have been dropped out at only 3 stops: Azur window for 15min, at a souvenir shop in the middle of nowhere for 15min and only 25 min for the most interesting: the capital of Gozo (Victoria). We had no time at all to visit it, on half way to the citadel we had to return back to the bus because the bus driver didn't wait and just start driving away after the time limit. No time for lunch neither. - 1h on Comino for swimming, which was quiet ok but very crowded - Then 30min waiting for the boat to get back - 1.5h on the boat back to Malta I have never experienced such a bad tour, which was full of only waiting and driving, hardly done any sightseeing. It isn't worth the money at all! I can't recommend you.
