How did this builder come to be? Rewinding to 1993, Aicon Yacht’s shipyard was born in Sicily. Looking at the ’90s to today, Aicon Yachts’ ‘Made in Italy’ label assisted the shipyard to connect and sell these beauties worldwide starting with the Aicon 56, awarded at the 2002 Cannes Yachting Festival. In 2005, the Aicon 64 Fly was awarded at the World Yacht Trophyes, where both boats were awarded Best Boat in The Flybridge Sector, for being trailblazers in the 50 to 70 feet yachting market.

Who are the masterminds behind the Aicon brand? In 2018, Marc-Udo Broich, boasting 20-years of experience in yachting, and John Venners, his historic partner, became Aicon Yachts!!!

This pair recognized the need to satisfy the yachtsmen’s desires to build high end custom yachts that fit their custom needs and highest standards. Aicon Yachts is an Italian shipbuilding company. Aicon Group was established in 1999 and since then has rapidly grown to be one of the major Italian shipyards, launching well designed luxury yachts with many of them available for charter. The company has dynamic operators in design, construction and commercialisation of Flybridge and Open motor yachts. Aicon superyachts is represented in many places around the world, including United States, Europe, Middle East and Africa. One of the main characteristics of the Aicon Yachts, is the particular attention to design and the style of their luxury yachts. Their vessels are not only aesthetically pleasing, but are extremely comfortable, functional and seaworthy. The company applies the latest technology and design elements to each of their yachts, thus creating a unique product, combining luxury, technology and quality.

Shipyard's first luxury superyacht Aicon 56, was presented in 2001 at the Genoa Boat Show. A year later, she went onto winning the World Yacht Trophy award for the best boat in the Flybridge sector, between 50 and 60 feet, at the Festivale de la Plaisance in Cannes.  Following, in  2005, the Aicon 64 Fly (e.g. M/ YJamila and yacht Antares III) was awarded the World Yacht Trophy in the Flybridge 60 to 70 feet category, only a year  after her launch.

2005 showed the company entering the Open superyacht sector with two new Aicon 72 Open boats (e.g. motor yacht Encore) and in the same year created a new production site in Villafranca Tirrena in Sicily.

2006 represented a very important year in the shipyard's history, when the new M/Y Aicon 85 Fly was launched. The same year the Open line expanded with the launch of the Aicon 62 Open motoryacht. A year later, in 2007 the first Aicon 75 Fly yacht was launched at the Festivale de la Plaisance in Cannes.

The stylish and sporty mega yacht series were created in 2008, with the presentation of the group's first Aicon 58 Fly and the Aicon 82 Fly luxury yacht.

In 2009 the company entered another stage with the launch of the Aicon Next, a system of valorisation of the pre-owned Aicon brand boats. More Aicon Info.

The Unique Burial of a Child of Early Scythian Time at the Cemetery of Saryg-Bulun (Tuva)

In 1988, the Tuvan Archaeological Expedition (led by M. E. Kilunovskaya and V. A. Semenov) discovered a unique burial of the early Iron Age at Saryg-Bulun in Central Tuva. There are two burial mounds of the Aldy-Bel culture dated by 7th century BC. Within the barrows, which adjoined one another, forming a figure-of-eight, there were discovered 7 burials, from which a representative collection of artifacts was recovered. Burial 5 was the most unique, it was found in a coffin made of a larch trunk, with a tightly closed lid. Due to the preservative properties of larch and lack of air access, the coffin contained a well-preserved mummy of a child with an accompanying set of grave goods. The interred individual retained the skin on his face and had a leather headdress painted with red pigment and a coat, sewn from jerboa fur. The coat was belted with a leather belt with bronze ornaments and buckles. Besides that, a leather quiver with arrows with the shafts decorated with painted ornaments, fully preserved battle pick and a bow were buried in the coffin. Unexpectedly, the full-genomic analysis, showed that the individual was female. This fact opens a new aspect in the study of the social history of the Scythian society and perhaps brings us back to the myth of the Amazons, discussed by Herodotus. Of course, this discovery is unique in its preservation for the Scythian culture of Tuva and requires careful study and conservation.

At the end of April, in the splendid Taormina and Messina, we participated in an event relevant to the Italian, American and world panorama: the  official presentation of the new Aicon 66  Vivere.  This event not only represents the entry into the market of a new boat, but also the rebirth of the Aicon Yachts brand .

America has landed in Sicily and the mix was explosive. Great emotion and, consequently, also a great event and great hopes for the future.

The union of passion, talent and resources meant that this brand was reborn under favorable auspices, with the approval of the press, dealers and above all customers, so much so that it has  already sold 14 units  of Aicon 66  Vivere.

THE TEAM THAT DECREE THE REBIRTH OF AICON YACHTS

At the head of everything is the main shareholder and CEO of Aicon Yachts Marc-Udo Broich , an award-winning designer who for years has imported Aicon motoryachts to the States.

Alongside him is his partner  John P. Venners  , a businessman of international standing, entrepreneur, former collaborator of  Capitol Hill  and  the White House  and expert shipowner.  Around them, a series of important personalities and professionals in the sector, such as the naval engineer Sergio Cutolo, of  Hydro Tec  . With all their passion and experience, Marc and John reopened the doors of the Giammoro di Pace del Mela shipyard (Messina) and thus a new yachting philosophy was born, which combines living the sea in safety with visionary excellence. of quality.

AICON 66  VIVERE:  LIGHT AND BEAUTY, IN CONTACT WITH THE SEA 

State -of-the-art  technology  , combined with the workers who work within the shipyard, has made it possible to obtain a unique final product.  A “made to measure”  boat , where each element can be customized and is made by artisans in the sector.

As a symbolic element of the brand’s rebirth, light was chosen,  light  that also represents  beauty  and positive energy.  The Aicon 66 Vivere reflects this philosophy: the large windows on the main deck, in fact, allow you to fully experience the sea, fully involving guests as well.

Furthermore, the porthole – which has always been Aicon’s hallmark – on this new line has been enlarged , becoming a real “  The eye to the oceans  “. Technically speaking, “the great eye on the ocean” gives the owner’s cabin greater brightness, in accordance with the concept of lighting the entire boat, and allows the owner to live in close contact with the sea.

The whole Aicon team has worked to maximize the sea-sky view, so as to make this yacht a shell that protects the owner and guests, without limiting them in enjoying the panorama that surrounds them.

In the first model of the Aicon 66  Vivere  , the exteriors are elegant and cared for down to the smallest detail, but the strong point is the absence of visible scuppers. On the upper deck, in addition to a lounge that converts into a very spacious dinette, there is the captain ‘s driving position , a large sundeck and other relaxation areas .

The flybridge , on the other hand, is a real terrace overlooking the sea, designed for moments of conviviality.

The attention to detail and the use of carbon fiber for furniture and components make the boat an all-Italian excellence, with infinite possibilities for outfitting, to fully satisfy every type of owner. Like the exteriors, the interiors have also been meticulously cared for using precious materials from the most important Sicilian industries.

In the hall we see a choice of skilfully worked eucalyptus wood, Billiemi marbles characterized by veins tending to yellow and lava stones from Etna, which when treated at different temperatures show iridescent colors and give particular effects.

We also appreciate the fine leather upholstery and wood, marble and eucalyptus essence worked in 3D shapes, solid and chopped, treated with smoking to enhance colors and veins. Above, a large skylight illuminates the entire salon with natural light, creating a warm and welcoming environment.  This mix of  precious raw materials and exotic materials  is a testimony of  Sicilian contamination  : warm tones, pastel colors and strong contrasts full of energy.

Going below deck we find three cabins, each with private bathroom, and a kitchen. The master cabin is equipped with every comfort with a large container bed, quality furniture and an office corner with walk-in closet. 

Precious leathers and eucalyptus essences cover the ceilings and the large  “The eye to the oceans”  gives that extra touch of elegance and beauty, as well as a unique view of the sea.

THE OFFICIAL PRESENTATION

The newly launched yacht was presented to dealers and the press at Marina del Nettuno in Messina, during an evening with entertainment show, designed and organized by the Aicon team for its guests.

The arrival of Aicon 66  Vivere  in porto has left everyone with a smile and a lot of enthusiasm. She will soon embark on her first voyage to the States with her di lei owner and will participate in the Miami and Palm Beach Boat Shows in 2023. The next 66 # 12 is already in production at the Giammoro shipyard and the # 14 is also in production in fiberglass. .

Vivere  will be a range and itstimeline has also been announced : 2022 is the year of the V66, in 2023 it will be joined by the V76 and in 2024 the production of AY66, AY76 and AY86 is planned. At the same time on the Aicon and Hydro Tec design table, there is also Opera d’Aria – a SportFly Line, the 72 Aria.

A NEW SALES PHILOSOPHY: AICON BOUTIQUE

The Aicon Boutique project continues with the V66 , for which Broich had already declared: “ 2021 has been a fantastic year for us, even commercially. We have signed agreements for Aicon Yachts Boutiques in New York, Fort Lauderdale / Miami, Canada, California and Mexico. By the end of 2022, the goal is to create a similar structure in Europe and the Middle East.

Aicon Boutique is a new sales philosophy that aims to bring owners and shipyards closer together on the yacht building journey , thus going towards a path of personalization. Not the traditional model of the dealer who pushes for the sale of a mass product to dealers, but the involvement of the customer who can express all his passion in the construction and design of his own boat in concert with our Style Center “.

We all hoped for a real rebirth of Aicon Yachts rather than a recovery, and so it was. We can say with certainty that this name has left behind all the events of the past and the new Aicon family has left for a long journey, to demonstrate to the world its great value and all the love for the sea.
