Cannes Yachting Festival 2023: Everything you need to know

The Cannes Yachting Festival is due to return from 12-17 September 2023.

Founded in 1977, the Cannes boat show takes place in the beautiful French city every September and showcases almost 600 boats, including motor yachts, superyachts , catamarans, tenders and sailing yachts.

The in-water show in the Bay of Cannes takes place in two of the city’s ports, the Vieux Port and Port Pierre Canto.

What’s new at the Cannes Yachting Festival?

New for 2023, the organisers have created a small boats area, focussed on craft measuring between 8m and 11m long.

Located in the Old Port on the Pantiero, next to the inflatables, this new marina with pontoons positioned at the end of the quays offers a comprehensive view of all the boats in this very popular size bracket.

How to get to the Cannes Yachting Festival

From Nice airport you can get a shuttle bus direct to Cannes, or buses 200 and 210. If you prefer taking a cab, a taxi will cost from around €55, depending on the number of passengers.

If money is no object and you want to travel in style, then book a helicopter with Azur Hélicoptère, which will take you from Nice to Cannes in around seven minutes and for just over €500.

Where to stay during the Cannes Yachting Festival

Cannes has a large selection of different types of accommodation. From luxurious five-star hotels to more affordable apartments, there is something to suit every budget. Just make sure you book in advance as the city gets very busy during the boat show.

The cosmopolitan capital of the Côte d’Azur

Nice, France is a beguiling mix of culture, class, history, food, and luxury sailing.

Founded in 5BC by the Greeks, Nicea, or Nice (as it’s now known) has been a hotspot for tourism for generations. If you’re Nice for the architecture and history, you should visit Palais Lascaris, Garden of the Cimiiez Monastery, and St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Cathedral. They cost next to nothing to visit and tell the true story of the city.

Weather in Nice, France

Like most cities in France, the weather in Nice changes a lot over the course of the year. During the winter months, temperatures can reach as slow as 43 degrees in December and January, and by the height of August, they can reach as high as 82 degrees Fahrenheit.

You’ll find similar weather among most cities along the Riviera, meaning finding yacht charters in Antibes or a Cannes yacht charter will just be as complicated as sailing Nice France. If you can, avoid the city entirely in August. Most of France vacations during that month, and the price of accommodation, food, and just about everything skyrockets as the french make a mass exodus to the Riviera.

However, Nice never sees snow or lots of rain, and that means, despite the huge temperature difference, you can visit the city year-round with very few issues.

Preparing for the Nice Sailing Trip

Despite being on the Riviera, Nice is actually more accessible by air. Ferry rides and train rides take forever and are almost as expensive as booking a local plane ride, and if you’re traveling down from North America, you’ll be coming by plane already.

Passengers looking to travel to Corsica from the Port of Nice can choose from up to 5 departures per day in the summer season, with ferries heading for Ajaccio, Porto Vecchio, Île Rousse and Bastia. Port of Nice security staff will welcome you when you arrive at the port and guide you to the boarding area.

The Port of Nice offers several  passenger services , including a free shuttle for foot passengers and people with reduced mobility, as well as fast-food outlets. To make sure your holiday gets off to the best possible start, please read through the boarding procedure.

If you are dropping someone off at the port, take advantage of  15 minutes free  parking at  Phare car park  or  Lympia car park .

Are you boarding a ferry, and want to leave your car at the port while you are on holiday in Corsica? Show us your proof of travel to qualify for a reduced rate of €10 per day. To take advantage of the special rates, you need to pay your ticket in advance at the car park manager’s office at Port Lympia car park, Level -1.
